I read this book towards the end of my 20s and I really loved the quizzes and the practical formst that the advice was given. I oftentimes would go back and reread certain parts of the book to navigate my professional and personal challenges.
When I heard about this book, I must admit I was excited. But after half-reading this book, I was disappointed. As much as I love Amy Dubois, (I think she's fabulous!) Amy had nothing new to say that other Self-Help books haven't.
Don't get me wrong: I agree with 98% of what the she says in her book and I try to live by the same mantra she mentions in this book. I also love the fact that her book is very easy to read and is very interactive. But this book was more of "I'm so happy and everything is working out for me. Here's how you can be too" book than anything else. My sister made a great point that Amy writes this book with the assumption that all women are motivated and brave enough to do the things she has done. This is a not a safe assumption to make for her target audience.
Overall, I think this book is a good read for any girl between the ages of 18-24 who hasn't read as many self-help books as me.
Awesome book. EASY read, I read this in a few hours and its a no nonsense approach to getting what you want, written in a way that feels like you are really talking to your best girlfriends! No psycho babble (not that this psych major sees anything wrong with babble lol) but for those who dont want to sort thru the lengthy, self diagnostic self help books out there and want it straightforward and humorous, this book is for you.
My book club, The Reading Divas, just finished reading this book. The first half of the book was very motivational! We were excited about the tips and advice given in the book. We also loved the the underlying theme of being true to yourself and what you want and need on life. The second half offered information that was general to any self-help book....Nevertheless, we liked the book and came away from it with practical skills and strategies that we could use in our daily life.
This book really helped me get my mind right and focused on the things I need to improve in my life. I like that it is a self help book without being all boring and stuck up. It was great and I keep it handy when I need to organize. A good read!
