FORMAT: 3 CDs, Unabridged NARRATORS: Andrew Rannels & Christie Moreau
Aiden Falconer and FBI Agent Harris are closing in the people who kidnapped Aiden's sister, Meg. There's just one hitch: Meg is trying to escape from them on her own, and is never where she's supposed to be. As tension mounts and the net tightens, only one thing is clear: The kidnappers aren't going down without a fight. Before, it was Meg who was in trouble. Now both Meg and Aiden are in grave danger.
Gordon Korman is a Canadian author of children's and young adult fiction books. Korman's books have sold more than 30 million copies worldwide over a career spanning four decades and have appeared at number one on The New York Times Best Seller list.
This middle book of the series keeps the action going at a breakneck pace!! I spotted the plot twist for the end of book 3 in this book, but I barely had time to dwell on it! Such an intense ride!
Book 2 brings in a new angle, as after the incidents in book 1, Agent Harris is replaced. Will his replacement mean good things, or bad things for the case? You will have to read and see!!!
Reposting from Book 1's review: These books are leveled as early 5th grade, and that's also the age I would recommend. The series as a whole contains some violent incidences, but they are not graphic. Ex. mentions of gunshots, blood, physical altercation, but no specific details about them.
Personal Response- I thought The Search was a decent book. I liked that there were multiple plot twists. A young girl was kidnapped and her brother was looking for her. Every time her brother thought he was close to finding her, something would happen and he would be on the wrong track.
Plot- In the beginning, Meg was being held captive by Spidey and Tiger. The FBI almost caught the kidnappers but they escaped and moved to a new location. Aiden, Meg's younger brother, decided to follow the kidnappers trail. He had a hard time. He was not old enough to drive, so he had to hitchhike. The kidnappers went to a ski lodge to send emails for a ransom. Aiden's father tried to offer 10,000 dollars for the ransom. The kidnappers said that was not enough money. Meg was able to escape her captors, but got lost in the mountains during a blizzard.
Characterization- Meg was the main character. She was abducted by the kidnappers who are Spidey and Tiger. Meg's brother Aiden ran away trying to find his sister. He was very far behind, but he tried his hardest to find Meg. Meg's on her own, she escaped from the captors.
Setting- The story took place in modern day Virginia. There was no known location due to the kidnappers traveling through the mountains of Virginia. They took her to a cabin where she escaped. She broke out of the cellar. The cabin was in the woods on a hill.
Thematic- The theme is to never give up. Meg was constantly trying to escape from her captors and was successful because she did not give up. Also, Aiden never gave up looking for his sister.
Recommendation- I recommend this book to a boy or girl who is fifteen years old or older. This book is perfect for someone who like intense action. I give this book a four star rating due to the nonstop action.

In the sequel to THE ABDUCTION, the Falconers and the FBI are still frantically searching for Meg. It has been a little over a week since she was kidnapped and Aiden is getting restless. He hasn't slept, he's barely eaten, and a new agent has just been assigned to the case.
After the FBI got very close to getting Meg back, the kidnappers decide to move her to a new location. The new location is nearly impossible to find. But Meg doesn't give up hope. She is still planning to escape.
When a mysterious incident happens, Aiden is sure that it's a sign that Meg was sending him. But Agent Sorenson thinks otherwise. So Aiden decides to take matters into his own hands and go search for Meg on his own. This results in many run-ins with the law. Find out exactly what kind by reading this excellent book.
THE SEARCH, like the first book in the KIDNAPPED series, was an incredible thriller! Gordon Korman really knows how to write a story that will keep you guessing every time. I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventures. I think this book deserves five stars because it is action-packed and full of realistic details. It's almost like you are there!
Personal Response. I enjoyed the book, Kidnapped, by Gordon Korman, because I could relate to the characters very well. I learned that even in the worse kidnappings there is always a way out. I also learned that if someone truly loves another person who is in his family, he would do anything it takes to get him back. I think the author did a great job of telling the story.
Plot. In the beginning of the story, Aiden is looking for his kidnapped sister Meg. Aiden being a fugitive of the law before he is used to running and is very skilled at getting away. Meg being a fugitive with her brother is also very good at running but can't when she is in the trunk of a car moving at a very fast speed. She somehow makes enough noise to sit in the front of the vehicle so now she can talk to her kidnappers. Meg, being very smart, says she has to go to the bathroom. She then leaves signes so her brother can find her. Once the news travels that bathrooms are being vandalized on Route 119, Aiden realizes that it is Meg trying to communicate with him. Aiden tells the FBI agent that is working the case, but he doesn't think it is anything. He says, it is just some local kids doing dumb stuff to get attention. After Aiden realizes nobody is going to help him, he leaves and finds his way to Route 119 so he can find his sister. Meg in the meantime is being transferred and is put into a house in the woods where her kidnappers are staying. She is then put into a room by herself to just be held hostage.
Characterization. Aiden and Meg are both the main characters in the book. Meg doesn't really have opportunity to do much throughout the book. When she does, she takes the opportunity and makes it hurt. Aiden is a very smart boy and wants to save his sister very badly. During the book, Aiden grows up and becomes more self reliant so he can focus on finding his sister. Aiden learns that no matter the situation there is always a positive ending and a good result.
Setting. The main setting in the book is Route 119. That is the road the kidnappers take to get to the house is the woods. Aiden uses this road, because it is the road that Megs kidnappers took. The book takes place in the fall. At the end of the book, Meg falls asleep to seeing snow fall for the first time.
Recommendations. I would recommend this book to a high school or middle school aged boy, because I feel they could relate to the characters as well as I did. If they like mystery they would enjoy this book. I give this book five out of five star rating.
Personal Response I enjoy the book Kidnapped a lot. I can relate to the family’s feelings of losing a loved one so suddenly. This book deals with real-life situations and is a very fast-paced book. The books also show that family will do anything for one another and will always be there for each other.
Plot Summary In the beginning of the story, Meg disappears due to being kidnapped. Her brother, Aiden, then goes on a search to look for her. Aiden is a troubled kid who has been in trouble for running away before. Meg makes enough noise in the trunk of the car for her kidnappers to move her to the back seat. Meg then notifies her kidnappers that she has to go to the bathroom. The car then turns into the gas station so she can go. While Meg is in the bathroom, she puts signs on the walls to notify people of her circumstances. Later that week, the news reports an article about local bathrooms being vandalized. The FBI agent believes it is just people vandalizing but Aiden thinks it is Meg. Aiden sneaks out and starts the search for his sister. Finally, Meg is placed in a wooden shack in the middle of the woods where her kidnappers are staying. The book ends with her in the shed as a cliffhanger.
Characterization Meg and Aiden are both the main characters in the story. Meg does not change much throughout the book. She is constantly leaving signs along Route 119 to try to find help.
Aiden becomes braver throughout the story. He usually runs away for a day or two, but Aiden now he travels miles in search of his older sister.
Setting The main setting for this story is modern time on highway Route 119. The highway is the road that Meg’s kidnappers are taking to get to the wooden shack. It is important to the plot because Meg is able to leave clues about where she is and where she is going. Modern times is important to the story because the FBI uses modern surveillance techniques to attempt to find Meg.
Recommendation I recommend this book to males and females in high school. Anyone younger should not read it because this story has a lot of scary situations such as being kidnapped. It is a higher reading level with bigger words.
This book was really cool and awesome. Sadly, I did not read the first one, so I was missing out on somethings, but it was still good. I can't wait to read the 3rd one.
Personal Response: I think Gordon Korman wrote this book very well. I was hooked on reading this book and wanted to find out what was going to happen to Meg and Aiden Falconer next. It was hard to predict whether a new lead to Meg's location was going to pop up or if a new posting on the blog hog's website from her captors was going to appear. I didn't like how the book ended, but I guess that's why there are more books to the series.
Plot: Meg and Aiden Falconer were walking together down a sidewalk when three kidnappers took Meg and almost snatched Aiden up too. He got away but now Meg is gone. Aiden's mind was racing and he didn’t know what to do. Mr. and Mrs. Falconer filed a missing person report and the FBI was right back at their house. Which was nothing new for them after their children's fugitive days. Meg Falconer was back on the radar again which wasn't a good thing for the whole Falconer family. Agent Harris was the Falconers worst enemy when it came to agents. He worked against them when Meg and Aiden were on the run. Overtime he grew a relationship with the family but the Falconers never fully accepted him. Now Agent Harris was tracking down Aiden who set off to find his sister. He didn't want Aiden to get himself into more trouble than he was already in. Aiden trailed route 119 with clues he thought Meg had left behind for him to follow. The clues led him to an innocent, little mountain town. He thought she was being held captive in a small house on the mountain side. He broke into the house he thought Meg was in only to get caught by the owners. He was now in deep trouble as Agent Harris brought him back home. Meg was still being held captive at the time but now she had escaped. She was lost in the wilderness of the mountains right before the first winter storm of the season.
Characterization: Meg and Aiden Falconer were both ex fugitives who could find there way in and out of everything. Aiden was Meg's older brother. He was the leader of the two and could think fast in tricky situations. He took care of Meg and taught her everything she needed to know to stay free. Meg was Aiden's little sister. She was a mastermind of her own. She could learn very fast and remember everything that was ever taught to her. Meg was as important as Aiden when it came to completing their dynamic duo.
Impacts of Setting: The Falconers lived in the city. The book didn't give a definite location as to where they live, but it described modern time subjects. They used tools and tactics to stay free that are still used today. Meg was kidnapped and no one knew where she was. Aiden was looking for her on the countryside along route 119 which lead into the mountains. It was difficult to even look for Meg in these parts because the mountains were so vast and the small villages were very spread apart. Meg escaped her captors and was lost in the wilderness of the mountains. A winter storm was brewing and if she couldn't find her way to captivity, she didn't stand a good chance at making it out alive.
Theme: The theme was "stay hidden, stay alive." Meg had to do everything she could to stay alive. Her captors threatened to snap her neck the next time she tried to escape. Even Meg's master mind Aiden had a hard time trying to stay hidden from everyone while he was looking for her. Aiden ran away from home to go find Meg because he thought he had the clues to where she was being held. He hid in the back of a truck, on a wagon full of hay, and even stole a bike he rode along the countryside until he hit the mountains. Aiden even escaped a county sheriff lockup room! Staying hidden and staying alive was definitely the theme of this book.
Recommendation/Rating: I would give this book a three out of five stars. It is a well written book that keeps readers wanting to read until the end. However, it isn't a subject of my all time favorites. I would recommend this book to any boy between the ages of 10 and 20 years old. It is an exciting book with a lot of action, intense moments, and mystery.

I read "Kidnapped" by Gordon Korman, and I thought the book was set up almost perfectly. It would skip back and forth between Aiden and Meg so that you knew what the two of them were going through, while Aiden was trying to hunt his sister down breaking into houses thinking that's where she was hidden. The author kept the book very interesting to read the entire time. The situations that happened throughout the book kept me on the edge of my seat all the way until the end.
The two main characters in this book are Meg and Aiden Falconer, who in the previous books were fugitives running from the law to prove their parents' innocence. Meg is kidnapped in the beginning of the book and held for ransom in a remote area on a ski mountain and her brother Aiden is trying to find her but runs into some trouble along the way by cops, strangers, and agent Harris. Tiger, Micky, and Spidey are the three kidnappers who have Meg in a log cabin on a ski mountain in the woods for a majority of the book. John and Louise Falconer are the parents of Meg and Aiden who where arrested in in the past for being accused of terrorism and are also criminologists but can't seem to be able to find their own kids. Emmanuel Harris is an FBI agent who put John and Louise in prison and hunted the kids while they were fugitives. He is now trying to find Aiden who is out trying to find his sister, Meg.
The book takes place in modern times and starts in a big city. This makes sense because 50 years ago you wouldn't hear of a kid being kidnapped for ransom money and the odds of it happening in a small town are just as slim. Another setting is the remote cabin that they hold meg in. The concept of it makes sense, it's just a run down cabin in the middle of the woods that no one would think anyone even lives there.
I feel the author's theme in writing this book was to help encourage people to never give up in what you believe is right, and to keep trying even if you have to do something crazy to prove it. For example, in the book Aiden was told not to try and find his sister because the cops would handle it, but he went off on his own following the clues that he found even though they all said it was just a wild goose chase. In Megs case she was trapped in a cabin and tried everything to escape and against all odds she got her way out of that place and back on the road to home.
I would recommend this book to any gender of all ages. It is an easy book to read and follow. I rate this book five out of five stars.
I thought "Kidnapped" was a good book. It started out talking about these two kids and how they are fugitives that ran from the law. The most important thing I learned from this book is that when a kid tells you something that is true believe it, because even if you don’t believe it, it’s true.
"Kidnapped" started out telling the story of Meg in a trunk of a car for a long period of time. It also went back in time when Meg and Aiden were fugitives running from the police. After the story talks about Meg and Aidens young life it goes to the present when Meg is in the trunk of a car. Meg tries to escape by blowing out a hole in the tire. How she does it is by a loose bullet and a tire iron. She put the bullet into a dried out sponge and hit it with the tire iron. Then she took off running and the kidnappers catch her. She ends up riding in the back seat with one of them. Aiden got a clue through the news website that a person has been clogging the toilets with full rolls of toilet paper. He figured that it was his sister. He told the FBI agent about his lead and the agent didn’t believe his lead on where Meg might be. So Aiden took of on the lead he had. He got to the first gas station and found out that Meg was there. He then moves onto the next gas station to see if she was there too. He finally catches up to the kidnappers and Meg and he gets Meg back.
Aiden is a teenager who has blonde hair. His sister, Meg, is twelve years old and is athletic and strong for her age. She has a creative mind. Aiden is the one who thinks before he does.
"Kidnapped" takes takes place starting out in a trunk of a car, location: unknown and time: unknown. This book takes place in a small town.
The theme of "Kidnapped" is determination. Aiden shows determination to find Meg before the FBI agency does. He also shows it when he wasn’t listened too he still wanted to look into it and contacted the agent that got pulled off of the case.
I would recommend this book to any age, twelve and up. I think a twelve year olds can handle what happens in this book. It does not matter what gender reads this book as long as they like books with a lot of action.
This book Kidnapped: The Search was really good. Aiden is searching for his sister Meg who was kidnapped. Aiden and Meg`s life has not been easy. His family was,at one point, the most hated in the US. Aiden knows that the FBI is not doing everything they can to rescue Meg and he decides to take matter in his own hands. He decides to take the risk even after failing to rescue her once. Aiden knows that there's a chance he might not find her but he would do anything for his sister. I really liked how the author, Gordon Korman, went from Meg`s point of view to Aiden`s. It gives you an incite to what both the characters are thinking. Overall i really enjoyed reading this book.
This volume was originally published in 2006, The On the Run Series was released over 2005-06 and this trilogy released in 2006. Korman published the 9 volumes featuring the Falconers over 2 years and only 1 other volume (Born To Rock) released between 2007 and the beginning of 2007. When I picked this up book 1 to read as the next Korman book to read I was unaware it was related to a different series. So in a way starting this is a bit of a spoiler for me. Because of that I waited until I had read all 6 books in the On The Run Series before returning to this volume. This series continues sometime shortly after the On The Run Series. The books in that series are:
Chasing the Falconers The Fugitive Factor Now You See Them, Now You Don't The Stowaway Solution Public Enemies Hunting the Hunter
And the volumes in this series are:
The Abduction The Search The Rescue
In the summer of 2022, Korman published his 100th book. Yes you read that correctly, his hundredth book. As of the summer of 2025 Korman has published 109 books. And has one planned for release early next year. Over the last few years he has published 2 volumes each year, one early winter and one in the summer. With each that I read I am entertained and often challenged.
My introduction to Korman’s works was the 39 Clues back in 2009. Since then I have read 100 of his books. As of the reading of this volume I am down to 9 of his volumes to read, and there are the last or second to last book in series. My son often reads these books to me or with me. And now my youngest daughter has started reading them. I have been jumping around on different series and from his oldest works to his newest. There are so many great read in Korman’s canon.
The description of this volume is:
“The next thrilling installment in Gordon Korman's nonstop action-adventure trilogy!Where is Meg Falconer?Everybody wants to know. Her brother Aiden, who saw her kidnapped and is now trying to track her down, wants to know. The FBI, led by the very serious Agent Harris, wants to know. Her parents, who fear their pasts have something to do with why Meg was taken, want to know. Even Meg's kidnappers want to know. Because even though they caught her once, that doesn't mean they can keep a hold of her. ...”
Another description is:

Unlike many of Korman’s books the chapters do not have titles. The Falconers have got their lives back, the parents are out of prison, they are trying to return to normal life, and all of a sudden Meg is kidnapped. Aiden believes Meg has sent clues and a news story alerts him to the fact. But no one will listen to him. SO he decided to take action. Over the last year along with his sister they avoided law enforcement and travelled all over the country to prove their parents innocence. Now he is alone and on the hunt. Can he rescue her? Agent Harris has been removed from the case but he hits the road to try and find Aiden. AN excellent volume in great series.
According to Goodreads at the time of writing this review there are 12 editions of this volume. But only the eBook and audio book are still in print. Like the series this continues from this story is a darker than many of Korman’s offerings. It has a great pace. The characters are masterfully written, and this second series with the same characters is powerful. You will find yourself pulled into the story and deeply invested, especially if you have read the preceding series. It is a story young readers will latch onto and be desperate to know what happens next! Another excellent read from Korman’s skilful pen! I can easily recommend this book, this series and both series featuring the Falconers.
In this book a girl named Meg gets kidnapped and her brother is trying very hard to help find her. He follows “clues” Meg leaves behind and goes out on his own to track her down. This is a great book because it has a lot of detail to where I can see the story unfolding in my mind. One example is when Meg (the main character) is trapped in the trunk of her captors car. She finds a single bullet. She remembered from a book her dad had written that the main character struck the bullet so hard that it exploded. She then takes the tire iron and whacks the bullet so hard that it goes through the side of the car and into the tire to pop it. I could almost smell the gunpowder and could hear the pop the tire would have made. The author uses good adjectives and does a good job of creating suspenseful scenes that really excited me to keep reading. I would recommend this book to people that like to be on the edge of their seat waiting to see what happens next. The age group would be about 10+.
I loved this book, it was amazing! I really liked how Meg sent Aiden a message by clogging the toilets, and Aiden tried to convince the new FBI officer that it was a clue, but he didn't belive him, so Aiden stubbornly ran away and searched by himself. While reading this book, I felt excitement because Meg was constantly trying to escape, and joy and satisfaction when one of the kidnapers who Meg calls "Mickey"realized that even if Meg's parents paid the ransom money the kidnapped wanted, the other two kidnappers would murder her! But luckily, Mickey knew what the right thing to do was, and he let her escape. When the book ended, I could not wait too get the second book beacause this series was great! I would certainly recommend this book, I hope you enjoyed as much as I did. :)

Overall, I enjoyed the series, but books #2 & 3 had far too many instances where I couldn't suspend my disbelief--events and actions were too far beyond the realm of possibility to keep me from getting yanked from the story. (Example (SPOILER): Meg accidentally conking a would-be rescuer over the head, figuring out he's FBI, then leaving the man unconscious on the floor and fleeing alone even though there was no present threat causing her to run. Then of course she runs right into the arms of the kidnappers because she took off from the guy who could have helped her as soon as he regained consciousness. Um . . . )
Book two of the Kidnapped trilogy ends at the cliff’s edge making me look for the next page. I don’t like a series that has no resolution within each volume, but having read Book #1, I anticipated the void of closure. Fortunately, the books are short and quick reads. My second fortune was found in the reality that all three books have been published so I am not left in midair for months await book #3. Meg Falconer is still kidnapped at the beginning and end of the book. The FBI is looking, her brother Aiden is investigating and providing input and theories to the authorities, and Meg is creatively searching for an escape.
This book was amazing! I love adventure, and this book gave me exactly that. When Meg Falconer is abducted, Aidan tries to find her, along with the police. He ends up risking his life to find her, only to get hurt. I really like how Gordon Korman adds in that bit about Meg's 'message' to Aidan, as it sort of tells the extent of their bond to the reader. Definitely read if you love action and adventure!
This was so amazing! It's very short and is much like the first book in the fact that it is very exciting and fast paced. I would definitely recommend this book, but you should read the first one before it, otherwise the plot won't make sense. Also, there is a third book called "The Rescue" which is very good as well.
Another great performance by Andrew Rannells, portraying fifteen year old Aiden Falconer with fervor, enthusiasm, and an overwhelming desire to rescue his kidnapped sister. This was a great book two as it expanded on issues that arose in the first novel, while also introducing new problems that will be addressed in the last book.
Aiden and the FBI are still trying to find Meg. Meg is trying to escape on her own. Will she get out? Read this book to find out! This book is totally awesome! Once I had started reading this book, I couldn't stop!
I read this book with my students. It is a continuation of book 1. My students are captivated by Meg and Aiden's clever ways to out smart Meg's kidnappers. This is a great book to teach prediction and inference.
I liked this more than the 1st book. :) It was more thrilling and interesting to read since Aiden went on his own to find his sister. Also the reason why the kidnappers targeted the Falconers became clear.
When Aidan Falconer runs away to search for his sister, he gets a ride in the back of some teens truck. The teens have actually stolen some football teams mascot, when the police catch them they catch Aidan too. The sheriff does not no who he is, so Aidan is able to escape eventually.
Read the first to my class, and it ended on a cliffhanger, so I had to finish the series. Slightly predictable, but it is a young reader series. Listened to this one with my son, and he really liked it.
