It's a kinda a self-help book with a spiritual undertone. Written about 20 years ago, it's amazing how the late author had a grip on the direction of the 21st century.
Abstract: This book instructs in building a better spiritual, overall life. Examining choices, time, attitude.
Summary: A person chooses manner of reframing an earthly life. With spiritual assists, a person can escape any prison’s entrapments. In tandem with this choice is mind training… learn to control your thoughts..perhaps a lifelong challenge. Fr. Edward Hays probes the prisons of anger, fear, revenge, prejudice, resentment, anxiety, and impatience.
On the whole a good book. Some of the ideas drag on a bit and seemed superfluous. This was especially true in his lengthy naming and listing of fear phobias, some being a created name, made up by Hays. I like his section in preparing physically and mentally for one's golden years. It is a topic which will increasingly be timely. He was an advocate for questioning traditions: are they still timely or do they need adjustment. He was a staunch supporter of social justice: fair wages and unbiased respect for people of all cultures and faiths.
