As I’m learning to skate, this book really helped me gain an understanding of the basics. It taught me about edges and turns and travelling in curves. The book does not replace ice time.

I felt that this book was written for coaches. It was hard to understand the target audience initially. There are simple explanations of most skating actions along with comprehensive practice routines.

For someone looking to skate today I would recommend YouTube and other online sources rather than trying to read a book about it. Video explanation of skating is much more helpful than the sketches found in this book.
