Until she heard that he was engaged to an Italian princess. Then she knew... She could never be Nick's mistress. Never!

re A Moment of Anger - PW is back with another uber possessive and obsessive H - in real life this would indicate a need for restraining orders and maybe a ball and chain and a stake, but since this is HPlandia - we can just enjoy the craziness.

In spite of the H in this one torpedoing the h's engagement cause she won't postpone her wedding for 6 months and move to Italy to work for him. Then putting the h into a really nice apartment he owns (so he can keep tabs on her,) and letting everyone think she is his mistress, this h doesn't give into the physical attraction - most of the fun in this book comes from the h saying no and the H's snarky little running commentary about her intransigence.

The story starts with our secretary h calming fears that the parent company who has recently taken over will totally change the entire office. The h doesn't really care one way or another, she is engaged to the company helicopter pilot and she is getting married in two months. Since married ladies don't work in HPlandia, her resignation is just waiting to be turned in.

Until she walks into her boss's office and sees a strange but enticing looking man sitting at her boss's desk. This is the new managing director of the company and he is taking over for his retiring father - the h liked the father a lot, but she doesn't like the looks of this new guy at all. (Except in the aesthetic sense, he is really expensive looking - but the h just bets that translates to expensive in other ways too.) The H spends the next few days cracking the whip and the h's boss is depressed that he has to go to Italy and might actually have to do something. The h is happily making wedding plans and doesn't take kindly to the H's suggestion that she postpone it for six months so she can go to Italy and work for him.

The h utters a firm and absolute negative, who ever heard of delaying a much anticipated wedding for some company loyalty? So the H finds out her fiance works for the company too, and he makes him an offer he doesn't want to refuse, flying helicopters overseas for bucco bucks. The fiance takes it, so the h pretty much dumps him, she wants to be more important than a big bonus. She also decides to go to Italy now that the wedding is off.

We get to Italy and the H is all over the h with suggestions and sneaky roofie kisses, but the h also know the H appears to be involved with a beautiful princess with wedding plans being spoken of and the h doesn't believe in cheating or bits on the side. There are tempestuous battles as the H goes haywire when she is just walking on the sidewalk and men are smiling at her. The H keeps pressurizing her to fall into his lurve clubing extravaganza and the h just keeps saying no. The H manipulates her into an apartment he owns and takes up all of her free time. The h also gets even by rearranging her desk at work so the H can only stare at the back of her head instead sending her melting looks across the office. The h is putting up a really good fight, even when everyone thinks she is the H's mistress, even tho she is feeling a niggling attraction.

That attraction grows when the H saves her from ruthless street predators and when the H takes her windsurfing at the behest of his father, who likes the h and invited her to his home for a visit. (The h endeared herself to him when she helped him when he went to England.) The h doesn't like the H's maneuverings tho, and she likes it even less when her ex shows up and wants to get married and she is explaining that they are over and the H wanders right into her home with his own set of keys. The h again says no again when the H wants to take her boudoir bouncing.

In fact the H has to almost kill himself in a helicopter before the h relents and they come together with a big bang. Then the h leaves the H the very next morning when she hears the H on the phone making wedding plans with the Italian Princess. She goes back to England and gets a job with a solicitor in a very small town. She gives the man the address of Trevi Fountain to prevent him from checking her references so the H can't find her. Eventually her deception is found out and the h is fired. Then the H shows up to haul her back by her hair. By now the h is preggers, and she isn't sure about what to do. The H can't figure out why she left since he has determined she loves him so much, the h points out that she doesn't do married people.

The H explains that he did not get married, the princess married his father and then he explains that he is marrying her. The h tells him he won't want to cause she is preggers and that the H isn't responsible because she wanted him as much as he wanted her. The H tosses that idear right out, he says he better be responsible. He then goes on to explain how, after seeing the h's picture in a staff letter, he has obsessed about her for over a year. Even to the point of getting her photo seekritly blown up to a larger size and getting jealous of his own dad who went on and on about how wonderful the h was.

He initially thought that he could just meet her and lurve her up and be okay, but now he is totally in love and will never let her out of his sight again. He promises to devote eons of time to love and care for her, and the h is so happy she just can't resist. They lurve it up for the big HP HEA and the h determines that the H's smile is all the reward she needs for putting up with his obsessive behavior about her.

The tension and the snarky banter are what really make this book readable. Thus, (besides being a PW fangirl,) I do think this one is a worthwhile read for fun and lite drama if you're in the mood for an obsessive Alpha in HPlandia.

After a cracker of a beginning, the story appeared to peak too early and then stagnated in to repetitive push pull situations. But then PW did manage to salvage the story and romance towards the end thereby making up for all the earlier dawdling.

The H is the usual ruthless and manipulative jerk who sees the h, decides he wants her for himself, breaks off the h’s engagement by offering her fiancé a good job in a faraway place (which he happily accepts), and so she swears to bring the H down to his knees, using the sexual attraction between then.

This story is supposedly about the eternal battle of the sexes triggered in a ‘moment of anger’. Both are attracted to each other but are also trying to score points off each other. Generally I don’t like such stories as the conflict, deceit and bickering get too much but here the ‘battle’ actually gets sidelined and diluted. The H goes about in a bad tempered fit for most of the book while she is constantly emotionally overwhelmed and is unable to handle herself or the situation she’s in.
But the ‘surrender’ after battle is over was actually sweet and worth it.

This is yet another intense, emotional story of an obsessed hero in Patricia Wilson's canon. The hero is an Italian helicopter pilot and CEO of a light aircraft company. The heroine is a fiery redhead secretary at the English branch of said company.

There's is a lust-filled-at-first-glance sort of meeting and the heroine quickly finds herself without a fiance (thanks to the hero's machinations), living in Rome and going out with the hero "against her will."

There are lots of stops and starts in their relationship. The hero can't seem to make up his mind if loves or lusts after the heroine. The heroine thinks he he's marrying someone else. The misunderstandings are only cleared up once she retreats to England, but it all works out.

A solid story with an obsessed, touchy alpha.

"Moment of Anger" is the story of Nick and Rachel.
This PW novel had all her classic tropes, and after a long time- they worked for me.
-An h who is initially engaged, but soon single as hero lures her fiancee away (showing his shallowness and money hunger)
-An OTT crazy obsessed hero
-A damsel in distress heroine who does show occasional backbone
-Heated kisses and dramatic circumstances
-OM/OW drama and crazy jealousy
-Insta love
-Running away
-Exasperated tears
-HEA

Very old hp but a good one. She’s the mistress, the ow, that has a no string affair with the rich and ruthless hero. When he tells her he’s planning to marry another woman, a young, plain but rich woman, she flips. First she taunt with her presence to an agent when’re he’s there with ow and she is attending with om, then when he confronts her, she attacks him like a piranha and yes, she dumps his sorry ass. His various attempts to win her back are fruitless and she doesn’t even suffer from TBS. Amazing. She leaves ny and goes back to her father where she has a car accident which results her in being scarred. She’s a model, but she’s quite tired of being appreciated just because she’s physically perfect. So she decides to leave her job and to keep the scar. Some weeks later the hero is back and proposes to her. He realized that he’s tired to fight his feelings and he’s been in love with her all along. He has to grovel, a lot. And he’s the first to say ily.
Cute old school hp, sadly the heroine was a virgin when they met and he wasn’t faithful for the first of three years together which I hated. But it is a nice reading full of angst. And the heroine for once is not a doormat or else, she stopped being one when he talked of marrying another woman.

All Rachel could see was that this man had interfered with her life, determinedly, ruthlessly, and with a speed that even now left her feeling that it must be unreal. This was not a man who allowed such foolish things as convention and decent behaviour to stand in his path.

She felt a rising triumph of her own. She had a stick with which to beat the devil and she would use it unmercifully. Nick Orsiani would remember the name Rachel Gordon, long after he had forgotten any other woman.

'You will come with me to Rome, Rachel?' he asked softly.

'Yes.'

Then he laughed, a low murmur of amusement and, rather frighteningly, a sound of delight.

'You will play a dangerous game with me, signorina?' he enquired softly. 'You will play it on my territory with my rules? Do not forget that only one can win and that the winner takes all. I am willing to play your game. The prize could become an obsession!'

Another deliciously obsessed, overly possessive, stalkerific hero from Patricia Wilson. It was surprisingly a fun read! I enjoyed the push and pull kind of relationship Nick and Rachel have. The chemistry is generally built from there. And one of the strong points of this book is that the secondary characters are so well done. They were all likable and fit well into the story as a whole. Overall, Moment of Anger was an entertaining and satisfying read, especially if you're a fan of a stalkerific hero!

Vintage HPs require time and patience. The H was an older assertive alpha with all his ducks in a row. The h was rather TSTL and childish. Her “moments of anger” were recurring and she derailed with each one of them. She’d make a plan to stick it to the H, but then give in to his charm, have some fun and then blow up in regret.

The back and forth between the h and H got to me. The h works in an office with her fiancé. The big boss comes in, falls for her stunning hair and deceptively promotes the fiancé to an oil drilling place in the middle of nowhere with incentives. The fiancé falls quick and runs away from their impending marriage which is barely months away.

The h is left fuming and embarrassed. The H relaxes back as his plan falls into action and offers the h a trip to Rome where she can keep working for him. They’re both in close quarters, sharing work space and lunches and dinners and kisses.

The moments of anger were repetitive and the h had no passion to match the H. A little hard to finish but a well written book.

I am not happy with how the heroine was manipulated because the hero decided he wanted her. I agree that the heroine didn't love the man she was about to marry and that she loves the hero, but it just feels wrong for her to have her life dismissed entirely because her boss wanted her.

Throughout the books there were hints of more interesting themes emerging. The heroine clearly had a consciousness of the wealth and class that separated her world from that of the hero's but in the end she just kisses him, ready to enter that world. All of her ideas about the separation of class between herself and the hero thrown out of her mind.
Her mother's distrust of men is just dismissed again and it looks like the heroine doesn't care about her mother's dim view of men but then she suddenly brings that up as an excuse to further reject the hero. It seemed out of the blue.
Then there is the hero's raging anger and possessiveness towards the heroine. I guess I am supposed to see this as romantic? But if the hero is just constantly angry then that rubs me the wrong way.
The heroine's revenge plan and the little games the h-H were playing also got swept off quickly when it was not useful anymore.
I am disappointed. I felt like the author could have done much better.

The book is very Patricia Wilson romantic. That means: a besotted, dominant alpha male hero who says all the good stuff and who doesn’t let anything or anyone stand in the way between him and the h, but who isn’t cruel like Charlotte Lamb’s heroes.

Some jewel things that the man says and does. Like the scene in the beginning in which he helps her with an Italian translation and he then tells her he will teach her Italian, little by little, when she lies in his bed.

Or when he tells her that he is always angry at her, because he doesn’t want to be obsessed by a woman day and night.

Or the scene in which he makes clear to his cousin that the h is his and that his cousin should stay away from her before he flies away with the chopper.

This is an alpha male who knows how to say sorry. He apologizes for the angry things he has said to her after she gets nearly assaulted by a few guys after he had warned her not to go to that place.

Very enjoyable read. As always with Patricia Wilson.

Classic PW. Love crazed boss, wild but innocent secretary, lots of cat and mouse with some small misunderstanding to move the angst along. I just have a complete weakness for this author, I think I love that her heroines are their own woman but deep down want to be owned and dominated by powerful men. PC? Noooope and thats what I love 😍

This was an emotional and intense read.

A bit of real and true communication would have the book ended right away. Instead we were taken on an intense journey full of angst, adventure, miss communication and misunderstandings.

The main characters were very intense. But it was a very good read as we joined on their journey to their happily ever after.

There is a good story idea under the knot of nonsense and pointless wheel spinning. But our hero is nuts! And our heroine can’t make up her mind if she likes the hero or not. Good idea bad execution. Skip it.

Would be 5 stars with less in the middle but the ending is great. Not sure why the h didn't simply ask H about the wedding plans, but then story would be about 30 pages shorter.

The hero was definitely ruthless (plus selfish) and it took awhile for him to realize he was in love with the heroine.

I liked the heroine and how unwilling she was to fall in with the hero's plans for her to be his mistress.
