Only a family crisis could bring Ross Fortune back home to Texas. But clearing his sister of a murder charge was the roving P.I.'s most important mission. Falling for the woman counseling his nephew was a complication he definitely didn't need.
Though the sexy, off-limits Fortune was a challenge she couldn't resist, Julie Osterman couldn't afford to let her personal feelings cloud her professional judgment. But when an explosive secret threatened everyone's future, was she willing to put it all on the line for the chance to be at Ross's side…forever?
I'm not one of those people who knew from birth she was destined to become a writer. I always loved to read and throughout my childhood I could usually be found with a book in my hands. To the disgust of my friends, I even enjoyed creative writing assignments that made them all groan. But I had other dreams besides writing. I wanted to be an actress or a teacher or a lawyer.
Life took a different turn for me, though, when my mother made me take a journalism elective in high school (thanks, Mom!). I knew the first day that this was where I belonged.
After I graduated from college in journalism, I took a job at the local daily newspaper and I reveled in the challenge and the diversity of it. One day I could be interviewing the latest country music star, the next day I was writing about local motorcycle gangs or interviewing an award-winning scientist.
Through it all -- through the natural progression of my career from reporter to editor -- I wrote stories in my head. Not just any stories, either, but romances, the kind of books I have devoured since junior high school, with tales about real people going through the trials and tribulations of life until they find deep and lasting love.
I had no idea how to put these people on paper, but knew I had to try -- their stories were too compelling for me to ignore. I sold my first book in 1995 and now, more than 30 books later, I've come to love everything about writing, from the click of the computer keys under my fingers to the "that's-it!" feeling I get when a story is flowing.
I write full-time now (well, as full-time as I can manage juggling my kids!) amid the raw beauty of the northern Utah mountains.
Even though I might not have dreamed of being a writer when I was younger, now I simply can't imagine my life any other way.

There were hints of things not quite right with Ross’s sister Frannie and her son Josh. It was like the book took a big turn towards the end without answering those questions which disappointed me. Maybe they were meant to be addressed in another book. I liked the two main characters, Ross and Julie, though and liked and enjoyed many things in the book.
Absolutely no closing in this book. Other than the fact that the two main characters obviously fall in love and live happily ever after! Once they identified the murderer, they gave no reason why. They didn’t explain the reaction that the accused had once they released her and arrested the killer. What was the son “hiding” during the entire book when he kept saying he was helping a “friend”? Never have things left hanging like that in any book I have ever read.
It was a good book but uh, did you forget something? As To who killed Lloyd? Why did Ross’ sister get so weak when she was told it was a Mendoza who was suspected of killing her husband? It is not only about the HEA but about completing the story. I have a feeling that there are many half story lines left dangling. It definitely left me cold.
PI Ross Fortune doesn't know what's good for him when he happens upon Julie Osterman, a social worker and c0unselor to troubled teens. But he soon learns she more than he bargained for when she first begins to help him with his nephew after the boy's father is murdered and then continues to help when the boy disappears.
Ross is a private investigator and Julie is a grief counselor. They meet just as Ross's sister is found next to her dead husband's body. Obviously, it will be complicated to get to their HEA.
I loved this book about finding love when you least expect it. RosEanne Thayne really knows how to write a story that grabs you and pulls you in to the story. I will read more from this author.
Part 2 in the Fortune's of Texas series. Like the first book in this series I Loved it. Ross is the private detective the family goes to, to try to figure out the mystery behind who is setting fires and sending notes threatening the family. More trouble comes when his brother in law is murdered and his own sister is arrested. There is excitement and romance here. I highly recommend reading this series
Ross Fortune's sister Fannie is arrested for the murder of her husband. Ross leaves his Galveston private investigator practice to go back to his home town to take care of his teen age nephew while the boy's mother is in jail. Ross is also determined to prove that his sister is innocent. While there, Ross meets a woman he can't seem to forget, in spite of his other problems.
