Breakout: Our Church's Story of Mission and Growth in the Holy Spirit

Rate this book
Breakout is the story of one church's discovery of a Spirit empowered, New Testament model of church. It is an honest, inspiring testimony to the truth that the Gospel of Jesus still maintains its life-changing power and God's people still have it in them to change the world. St Andrew's Chorleywood has been at the forefront of church renewal for over three decades. In the last five years, it has seen substantial growth as the congregation has moved from drawing people to one place, to a model in which well over a thousand believers have been sent out in mission-shaped communities of up to 50 members, meeting in school halls, community centres, coffee shops and other contexts. This daring move has resulted in the raising up of over a hundred new leaders, a massive release of spiritual gifts, great vision and creativity in outreach, and major growth through evangelism.

A very readable book about how St. Andrew's Chorleywood reorganises itself into mission-shaped communities. Useful background reading for anyone interested in Congregational Studies, though does not always answer questions one might ask, and it does not go into details about the theology of the subject.

this generation is crying out for more relational, more than come and sit...we want to go and make disciples, go and ...this book tells how it is not only possible, but probably to perhaps have "church" a different way...that seems to follow the original pattern.

A useful story to help the Church rethink how it works. Lacks practical guidance.
