I found a copy of this at a second-hand store in Kainantu, and picked it up. I'd never heard of the stories or the author, but it looked promising--and even contains one story called "The Story of a Cat." :) Most of the stories have a kind of melancholy tone, which sets them apart from the way fairy tales tend to be told now. My favorite story is "The Necklace of Princess Fiorimonde," especially because of how the main character does not end up quite as I expected. I also really liked "The Rain Maiden," and "The Story of the Opal." I enjoyed discovering a new set of fairy tales that, while not among my very favorite stories, are very worthwhile and pleasant.
