Wendy Northcutt graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in molecular biology. She began collecting the stories that make up the Darwin Awards in 1993 and founded www.DarwinAwards.com shortly after.

Reading about stupid people eliminating themselves from the gene pool shouldn't be funny; I must be sick and twisted, because these stories crack me up.

I love these little books. I love the stories about how dumb some people can be. There is no other book like the Darwin Awards.

"The Darwin Awards: The Descent of Man" follows "The Darwin Awards: Evolution in Action" (2000), "Darwin Awards II: Unnatural Selection" (2001), and "Darwin Awards III: Survival of the Fittest" (2003) in Wendy Northcutt's "Darwin Awards" series.
And, similar to the first 3 books in "The Darwin Awards" series, in "The Darwin Awards: The Descent of Man," we continue to read more genuine stories about genuine stupidity.
All of the books in Wendy Northcutt's "Darwin Awards" series are humorous, all of the books in this series will make you laugh. It's not cruel, we're not laughing cheerfully knowing that each story in this book is a story about someone who has either been severely injured or killed, all of the stories which are featured in "The Darwin Awards" books are intended to serve as warnings about recklessness, and the need for people to pay close attention to what we are doing at all times.
If you enjoy perusing Wendy Northcutt's "Darwin Awards" website, you'll enjoy reading "The Darwin Awards: The Descent of Man," and if you've not read through "The Darwin Awards" website, and you've not yet read any of the other books in this series, then "The Darwin Awards: The Descent of Man" can be your introduction to a series of true stories which explore the limits (or more specifically, the complete and total lack of any known limits) to human senselessness and stupidity.
