Just a really good book on education for children. Probably the best I've read on the issue yet. Parenting is a theology in and of itself. Parents are commanded to do many things, one of which is to raise their children in the Lord. This may look different for many parents while still being obedient to God. Christian parents are commanded to feed their children, but that doesn't mean that parents are commanded to be farmers. It just means that they need to be sure that their children receive good and pure food. Christian parents are commanded to educate their children in the Lord, but that doesn't mean that they are commanded to be school teachers. It just means that they need to be sure that their children receive good and pure education. For some, this may mean homeschooling. For others, it may mean Christian schooling. But I don't see how it means public schooling, especially in light of the bad and corrupted education that their patrons receive. In any event, Thoburn carries out many arguments to make this case and others. Recommended.

Thoburn does a great job of explaining why Christian schools are needed, and why Christians need to to ensure that their children receive a Christian education. This is a good book, well worth the read.

I particularly agree with him when he explains the importance of opening private Christian schools.
