Graeme "Horse" Nass is happy with where he stands in life. Enforcer for the Freed Riders, a position which demands respect from members of his club and outsiders, the role allows him to hold firm against all comers. It's rewarding, feeding his soul in its own way, and he gives it back to the club with everything inside him. Joining the club had been a watershed moment in his life, a point in time where his morality and beliefs swung freefall over a chasm of doubt, but he's come out the other side of the crucible stronger. The only thing missing from his life is a woman willing to put up with the aggravation that comes with being in the center of all club business-good and bad. He's about given up on that desire, until he meets Glenna. She's a tiny, feisty whirlwind of a woman who blows into his life and turns everything upside down with her humor and biting wit. Pair her smarts with the stunning beauty of the woman, and what man alive would pass up on a piece of that? Horse has taken the bait, hook, line, and sinker, but the joke's on her, because what they're about to go through will tie her to him just as tightly.
Raised in the south, Wall Street Journal & USA TODAY bestselling author MariaLisa deMora learned about the magic of books at an early age. Every summer, she would spend hours in the local library, devouring books of every genre. Self-described as a book-a-holic, she says "I've always loved to read, but then I discovered writing, and found I adored that, too. For reading...if nothing else is available, I've been known to read the back of the cereal box."
A member of Romance Writers of America, deMora has penned a variety of stories, with five established series that include motorcycle romance, veteran repatriation, and time travel, as well as a romantic standalone, dark suspense, and a legal thriller. Her website is filled with links and information, as well as extras like character interviews, playlists, poetry, and trailer videos!
Her short bio reads, "Plate-spinner / cat herder at work; totally geeked author; single mom in the thick of autism at home; hockey freak; wanna-be hiker; usta-be/on-again EQ gamer."
I'm all for building a good story but speed it up girl. I got 40% in and they still hadn't met yet. Unless I missed it because at a point I did just start skimming. I'm really bummed that I paid for this so I'm going to try to finish it but I really don't see how the first half of this book is necessary. I'm here for a good romance if it hasn't started almost half way through I'm not sure what the last half is going to be like.
Really liked this story but it dragged on and on , there were no time lines. If it was condensed more it would have been better. The story was really great and it had its highs and lows, sexy times , gun battles but it was like the never ending story . Once you got to half the story started to come to life.
I got to read an ARC of Gotta Dig Deep and here's my take -
ML continues to woo her readers in the same way she always has. With depth and care, drama and action, steam and passion (of all kinds not just the sexual) and comic relief because of course and why not.
*Horse is freaking' perfect and his Glenna is a lucky chick, and vice versa. The way they click is so beautiful and I went through all the emotions. I mean ALL the emotions in the book.
*Shamu is the star of the book. I'll fight anyone who says different. Just... don't tell Gunny, ok? He's a bit sensitive sometimes.
*Like every deMora book we get the whole story for her main characters and man Horse's story breaks my cold dead heart a tich. And Glenna, well she's been through the wringer and Horse showing up is practically kismet.
*These bad dudes are like those pesky witches hair we chocks get. You pluck it and think that'll be it but they show up next week with friends in the wrong places. And I'm both excited and terrified to see where that line takes us next.
* Gunny shows up or is mentioned 114 times in the book(starting in chapter 9... even though it is NOT his book. The last four times don't actually count as they're in the book postings in the backend. This alone makes it worth reading. I know this because I did a word search for him immediately upon downloading the book. If you don't do this with every deMora book after Gunny's are you even Gunny's girl?
I can't explain how happy I am to see MariaLisa back to what she does the best - weaves a story that worth every moment spent. Thank you for continuing to to woo me.
I don’t know if I’ve ever had so many mixed feelings about a book that wasn’t a dark romance.
Overall the book was well written and edited. I’m a stickler for dialogue that feels natural and matches the characters and I think the author did a good job with that.
This was the first book I’ve read by this author and the description says it’s book 1, but it felt to me like I’d picked up book 7 of a 12 book series. There are so many different people and side stories happening it really took away from Glenna and Horse imo. At one point (in the first half of the book) I stopped to see if there was book #0.5 that had Blackie and Peaches’ story because I felt like I was missing something.
The description should probably be updated to include a blurb about reading the Rebel Wayfarers MC series and Iron Riggers MC series (I’m assuming there are series about all these men and their plus ones) not bringing required, but may help you keep all these people straight.
**Spoilers Start Here**
The FMC and MMC don’t meet until 50% through the book. The first half if the book is about the previous 10-15 years of their lives. Their history’s definitely impact how they interact with each other, but you don’t need 10 chapters worth. Also did not appreciate the tears from the chapter(s) about Penn. 😭
The book is also pretty much resolved at the 85% mark with the MC romance portion basically only in chapters 11-18.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I am still not quite sure what I read. I almost did not finish, when I was at around 40% in and the couple hadn’t even met yet. Horse and Glenna don’t even actually meet until 50% in. Their actual relationship was cute, but about 1/2 of the first part of the book could have been gone and it wouldn’t have affected this story. Honestly the first part of the book, especially Horses story, I felt so damn confused with all these different MC and characters that showed up. Most were little blips that I’m not even sure why they were there, it felt almost like there was an inside joke and I didn’t know it so it all went over my head. I’m all about setting a scene up but this took it way too far. Just way to busy and I still don’t even understand in the end what happened to Roscoe and Dale. Unfortunately this isn’t a series I even want to try to continue.
This story is about Horse and Glenna. We have seen Horse before, but briefly in the MC worlds that MariaLisa has created. This is his story, and what a story! If you are unfamiliar with these worlds, don't fret. ML has given enough information to know who is who and how they are connected. If you are familiar, holy cow! The memories and timelines of events have so much more meaning. Dig Deeper indeed. Horse and Glenna have to dig deep to find their way. But some of Horse's digging brings up some thought to be finished business that I will now wait for FRMC#2 to get some clarity. So good and worth the wait.
I loved, loved, loved Horse's story. Seeing familiar faces...priceless. My heart broke for Horse and the way his mother treated him, but when he learned the truth behind it all I wanted to reach out and give the big guy a hug. Glenn's story brought tears to my eyes. When these two crossed paths I knew they were it for each other. Gunny had me laughing my butt off and Blackie oh my what can I say the man has away about him that made me smile. I can't wait to see what happens next.
This is a good addition to the interconnected series of MC books Mrs. demoralized write. I always Iiked Horse in the other books and was excited he got his own. The only thing I don't like is it took until half way through the book before Glenna and Horse even met each other. I don't lime that. Love Shamu the dog. He was a character within a character. Wish we could of had Twisted and Poboy in this book.
The story is good. Hot Alpha with insta love story but the first 10 chapter were very slow and full of unnecessary information. I skipped 5 chapters so I could get to the good stuff. Lots of open ended questions. What happened to Peaches and Blackie, is Horse related to the club? I will read the next book in the series to see if the writing gets better.
This was an interesting storyline about Horse and Glenna and their journey towards a HEA. It went from them being younger to the present and sometimes I found it choppy as things were introduced unexpectedly. It’s obviously the authors style, this is the first book I’ve read by her. There’s a lot of suspense and i didn’t think it was a typical MC romance in a lot of ways. Horse did an unusual job for the Freed Riders. It’s a good story though
from the model on the front cover, to the very last page, I was totally rapt and involved in this great storyline. The characters well drawn and interesting, people with back histories that could spark another novel, and perfectly utilised syntax that gives full information without being wordy. Yes, I loved this read and look forward to the next one 🙂💕😁
It’s so good to have another book from MariaLisa DeMora! She has a wonderful way with dialogue that sets the tone for the story & the characters. Gotta Dig Deep introduced new characters & brought in some old friends from other books. Her world just keeps getting better & better!
It doesn't matter what this author puts her pen to, she always amazes and thrills me! I've been reading her for some years now, actually since I first started e-reading many moons ago! She is in my top 10 author list and there are somethings that I don't own of hers, but very little escapes my clutches😘
A True five star author. I haven't read a book of Maria Lisa that I didn't truly love. She is a talented story writer, a true magician with words. Each story brings out all the feels. I highly recommend all of her books!
So so good to catch up with old favourites And get a better Insight into previous books It was like coming home and siblings picking up before You left
Lots of action and characters in this new series. Glenna is a woman with sadness in her heart who finds a man that needs help. Then as they explore their relationship danger comes to their door.
First book I've read by this author. Enjoyed it. Liked the character development. Will definitely be reading more by her. Looking forward to more in this series.
