Well that was unhinged. It’s like someone told Jessa Kane her stuff was too tame, so she said ‘hold my beer’ and proceeded to write this bit of crazy.
Imagine Cinderella meets A Christmas Carol meets Little Orphan Annie: the porno. That’s pretty much a summary of the story. I was agape at the wedding scene, clutching at my non-existent pearls thinking nothing could be more depraved, and then… the carriage ride. It was ott, silly and insane, so overall a fun time. So if you like JK, you’ll like this because this was JK in 6G.

A funny story, at Jessa Kane's style.
Edison Scrooge (his great-grandfather is Ebenezer Scrooge), is thirty years old and has to marry at Christmas night, so he can inherit, if not, all the money goes to the bank.
Blessing is an orphan and is eighteen years old, so this is an age gap story.
It's a Christmas Carol retelling.
(...)I’m already unzipping my pants when the preacher turns his attention to me, asking me the same question.
“Do you, Edison Scrooge, t-t-take Blessing Wakefield to be your lawfully wedded wife?”(...)
(...)Ben backs out of the room while mopping his brow, along with the preacher, but they remain in the doorway, watching with clear conflict—and something darker—in their expressions.
They remain there too long for my taste.
“More. More!”
she cries out beneath me, my miracle of a wife.
“Get the fuck out,”
I growl at the men, beginning to pump.
“Oh my God!”(...)
(...)We are in the lobby of the opera house and everything appears to be moving in slow motion.
I’m sweating, a goose’s egg stuck in my throat.
Every man is looking at Blessing.
Of course, they are.
She is eighteen, fuck-mussed and braless.
Her mouth is puffy from blowing me, her eye makeup smudged from the gallon of come I pumped onto her innocent-looking face.
Was I insane to bring her out in public?(...)
(...)It’s torture to take my eyes off my wife for a second, but I’m sensing a change in the room’s atmosphere, so I scan the room above her head.
Men are angling themselves to get a better look at Blessing.
Some of them have noticeably tented their pants and are too entranced by her to bother trying to hide their arousal.

Well … this is pretty much what I was expecting.
It can’t be a JK smut fest without an obsessively controlling man that knows no boundaries. A sweet, unassuming, naive girl that’s more than likely a virgin. Plus copious amounts of insatiable steam.
Plus she threw in a little festive cheer by channeling A Christmas Carol and a hoard of needy orphan children.
Well … this is pretty much what I was expecting.

Rumors spread about her, saying she’s a gold digger and steals from the church. Edison decides to test her innocence.
And he does so… with his fingers 🫣😳.
Oh. God. This book was OTT craaaaazy 🤣🤣🤣
I could not help but giggle. The epilogue had me cracking up 😅😬. I swear. JK should try writing romcoms. The way her Hs become unhinged can be hilarious.
This would’ve been a higher rating if it wasn’t for the obvious DDlg tied to the orphan/adoption.

There was so many recs on FB for this that I just had to see what was all the fuss about. And boy was that utter madness! Glorious, unapologetic OTT smut! And not smut in the panty melting way - in fact the sex scenes left me quite cold in that aspect - but smut in the most outrageous and funny way possible 😳! I have never read smut so entertaining by its sheer zaniness 🤯🤪🤣!
My eyes went so big at the amount of outrageousness that steadily went crescendo as the short story unfurled! The H, Edison, is positively OTT obsessive-possessive. The things that goes through his mind and spurts from his mouth... oh divine goodness.
And that wasn't even the most shocking quote I guarantee you 🤣🤣🤣! JK was clearly on a roll. I laughed out loud, literally, at the opera scene. The 'spinning top' scene was quite a close second if I had to choose the most crazy scene 🤣🤪! And if Edison was raving OTT (actually I am quite concerned by his brand of delusional paranoia if this was RL), the h, Blessing is quite something also: with disturbing fantasies (that are even more disturbingly explained away in an almost believable way by JK, lol) that she is no shy to act upon, and abetting and indulging her husband's mental issue so willingly (almost criminally imho - it seems that his sexy wife's sauciness is toxic to his mental stability 🤣). They are really a bizarre pair matched in heaven.
3 stars because of my high enjoyment of this epic, packful nutty story, but also because the level of OTT-ness was a disservice to enjoying the spice. All in all, I will not soon forget this one 😁😂🤣!

I am a big fan of Jessa Kane and i read WHATEVER new she publishes. But this is one of her average "meh" stories despite the very deranged Scrooge in this one who was psychotic in mind in a very unhealthy and off-putting way. He made ME uncomfortable...and it was blaahhh overall.

jessa kane literally gets more and more unhinged with every single release and i am LOVING it, i am LIVING for it, i am going INSANE over it.
why do i love these books so much?? they're tropey, they're cliche, they're instalove-y, they're all the same basic boilerplate, they're everything i criticise... but i'm addicted to them. i grew up on a steady diet of soap operas, my brain is wired to eat up characters and plots that are OTT and straight up batshit.

if you have a spare 30 minutes and can suspend reality and just vibe out, add this to your list.
i love that her books simply defy time and reality. this is an edison scrooge novella and a christmas carol takes place in what? the late 1800s? that tracks since the heroine is a ‘beggar’ coming to his door and he has a butler who speaks like an old englishman. yet, he also drives a mercedes and uses the word lube. brilliant.

All of these elements stopped me from liking this book. It was just too cringe for me.

I give the story on this one a four, there really wasn’t a whole lot to it after the beginning. The spice factor for me was a 5.
I’m into the daddy kink but if you’re not then this definitely isn’t for you. I also like that by the end Edison has been absolutely driven insane with paranoia that people are going to steal Blessing from him. It reminded me a bit of some of the books in her stalker series which I totally love so it’s no surprise I enjoyed that aspect.
One I’ll read again when I’m looking for some naughty spice.

Another cute and spicy novella, but make it Christmasy! Only Jess’s Kane can write MMCs that are both crazy and obsessed but also sweet cinnamon rolls. This was really cute! And cheesy, but come on, I know what I’m getting with Miss Kane. Edison Scrooge, a very wealthy and notoriously grumpy man, has just found out that he must marry by Christmas if he wishes to keep his inheritance, passed down from generations. He hosts a ball at his mansion, but can’t even look at all the women in attendance. Then, he spies a beggar at his front door and he’s immediately enraptured. She’s freezing and starving and he immediately helps her.
Blessing is trying to get money so that she can buy food for the children at the orphanage. The old caretaker died, so since she is the only adult, she stayed on to care for the children. The house has no heat, and she’s desperate to get back to the children, but she’s become a victim to the cold. When she comes to, she’s shocked that Mr. Scrooge wants to make her his wife. Like, yesterday. She wants nothing to do with marriage, doesn’t he know that she has responsibilities? She returns to the children and he follows her, vowing to give his entire inheritance to the children. He doesn’t think she will ever love a scoundrel like him, but he loves her and wants her to be his bride. How could she say no?
So, while this was super spicy and filled with dirty talk and action, it was also super sweet. Scrooge and Blessing have both been left or ignored by people their entire lives. Scrooge is so sweetly in love with Blessing, even though he doubts that he is lovable, he does everything he can to make life good for her and the children. So of course she falls in love with him? All in all, one of my JK faves.
