Meet the Damage Control boys - set in the world of the best-selling series Inked Brotherhood. There's me: Micah Owens. Tattoo artist at Damage Control. No parents or siblings. A past that still gives me nightmares. And then there's her: Evangeline, the girl who saved my life and haunts my more pleasant dreams. Only she doesn't know who I really am, and telling her might well send her fleeing for the hills. She deserves better than a loser like me. She's pretty. She's clever. She's goddamn sexy and has a heart of gold. Which is why I can't tell her. A smile from her and I'll do all I can to make her mine - including pretending to be someone I'm not, someone worth having. Isn't love weird? Note: This is a stand-alone novel. No cliff-hanger. Warning: This book contains graphic language, sex, and violence.

3 A decent start

This is my first Jo Raven read. You don’t have to read the Ink brotherhood series first, but I’m OCD and I kind of wished I did. Just so you know, Ink Brotherhood series is first and the spin-off is the Damage Control series.

Okay, so I should say, I’m a cover whore and this one is butt ugly, also the guy on the cover looks like he’s 17. I guess the guy in the book is young, but I don’t want to see it on the cover. I feel like a perv. I also don’t like books where the person is a tattoo artist. I don’t know why, but that never interests me.

The book starts off fine. Micah has had a dark past. We know he was once homeless and now he’s turning his life around. I kind of like that it’s not a big secret and it gives him something ya know.

Ev is the girl that saved his life. She’s sweet and carrying with a crazy ex. I liked her, but she did irk on my nerves sometimes.

I think the angst level is pretty low, but there are times where I felt like a lot of things could have been prevented had people had a conversation. That is my least favorite storyline in books and I wished authors would stop doing that.

I’m not sure what to make of this author’s writing style. I like the steam because there was a lot of it, but the characters and the storyline and the chemistry fell a little flat (not completely, just a tiny bit).

I’ll read another book by this author but for now I’m going to take a break.

Loved Micah. This story is going to have your heart breaking for Micah. He never knew his parents and grew up in horrible foster homes. He ends up on the streets and deathly ill. Ev a young woman who has a passion for helping the homeless realizes how sick he is and calls for help. Fate steps in and Ev has an accident causing her own set of tragic problems and they do not cross paths again for months. Micah can’t get the angel out of his head who saved him. Ev thinks this entire time he has died. They see each other again and the story unfolds and you will not be able to put this book down!

Reading books before they're published is pretty amazing when you're a book lover, and meeting yet another of Jo Raven's boys is pretty exciting. :)

I was supposed to be writing, but as you can guess I ended up reading and reading. Micah is a wonderful character and Ev doesn't disappoint either. Both of these characters are sweet and very hot together. Emotions are ever present, the characters' vulnerability is there, but it's overcome by their inner strength. I can't wait for you to read this book.

This is the first book I've read by this author and what a fantastic book to start off with.

When Evangeline saves Micah she's injured while doing so. He regrets not being able to say thank you. When their paths cross again can he reveal who he is?
My heart ached for Micah. He's been through so much he deserves happiness.

If your looking for a sweet romantic story then I recommend you read this. Great lovable characters. Looking forward to reading more from this author. Loved it.

I am so lucky I discovered this author on Audible! The narrators Tad Branson was good but my favorite female narrator Erin Mallon rocked! Evangeline lives at home, but she is pretty much independent and braver than she knows. And omg Micah 🔥is a gorgeous tattoo artist. He has such a tragic upbringing, I got emotional!
He remembers Ev from an incident, life and death one that he never forgot. He has been through hell but has been saved by caring people who helps him and others like him!
Loaded storyline, great characters and narrative.
Smoking hot love scenes ❤️🔥. I love this author and this book, it’s a series and each books are standalone, but so much better listening in order.

I feel like this would have been a quick read but the audible version left me lollygagging on finishing this book. The voice actors are fine, not their fault I just wasn't into it.

I recommend for people who like romance about loving a person despite the social pressure not to.

"Micah", book one in the Damage Control Series by Jo Raven is a fast ride into a better future.

20-year-old Micah Owens works in Damage Control, a tattoo studio when he recognizes Evangeline (Ev) in the Donut shop across the street. Seven months ago, Micah was in bad shape and Ev was there to save his life. He never forgot and wants to show her that he used his second chance at life. 19-year-old Evangline, on the other side, still tries to find her way back into life after an accident seven months ago which shattered her knee. At the same time her ex-boyfriend Blake does not accept their break up and is harassing her. Before the accident Ev helped the homeless but now she is afraid for several reasons.
Can Micah protect Ev from her ex-boyfriend and show her that she is stronger than she thinks?

Micah was a homeless person and Ev was his saving angel. When he sees her again he is totally flashed. It is cute how clumsy his first approaches are, but it is a good thing that Ev is as fascinated with him as he with her. He wants to tell her that she made a difference at least with him and their intense attraction to each other is a plus point. Ev gives him courage, he is able to open up to her and talk about his past.

Ev's situation was heartbreaking. She gave so much to the homeless but Blake and her family are unsupportive and ignorant to the point where she doubts herself. Ev is such a good human with an heart of gold. She really did not deserve the harsh critic by her family. When she is at her lowest she meets Micah and this time he saves her. He tells her how beautiful and strong she is and follows his words with actions. Through him, Ev finds back to her true-self and becomes again the person before the accident.

I am not sure why this book is so engaging and fascinating. Maybe because it is told from first person by both protagonists and it is done very well. There is an instant connection to Micah and Ev and this leaves a powerful feeling behind while reading. It is a great additon to the New Adult genre. Mrs. Raven just catches you and casts a spell over you.
Even so there is strong sexual content and very soon into the story, the story still delivers a sweet and heart-pounding romance. Micah and Ev are two great people that are easy to root for.

The Story could have been longer, so it was over too soon. This book is very promising as an opening for the Damage Control Series. I am excited to see what Mrs. Raven has next in store for the Damage Boyz.

The description of the content sounded interesting and so I picked it up, but to be honest I'm quite disappointed.
While Micah and Evie seemed likable on their own, I have problems with their relationship. Or their lack of one, to be exact.
I don't think he is a stalker or creepy when he looks at her while she buys something to eat every day. It's not as if he was following her or something like this, just watching from the front of his place of work.
What I find pretty unrealistic is how he builds her up to some kind of angel and that their 'instant connection' consists of two meetings (or better one and a half) before he grabs at her breast and nearly dry-humps her against a building. At the third meeting they have sex and sleep together without really knowing each other apart from the very surface and that just clashes with the way they were characterized before. (at least they used a condom the first time, but later they don't. They don't even talk about the possibility of STDs and coitus interruptus, well, 'parents' is a possible description of people who use that kind of contraception...)
Don't understand me wrong, I'm all for sexual freedom and that everybody can have an active sexlife without beeing judged, but to have sex with a virtual stranger isn't something a girl who is written like Evie is likely to do. It just doesn't fit...

5 hot stars !

This is the first in a spin off from Jo's highly successful Inked brotherhood series. It follows the tattooist and the apprentices of Damage control, the tatto shop that features in the brotherhood books. First up is Micah, the newly qualified tatto artist. As with all who work at Damage control Micah has have a tough up bringing, and spent some time living on the streets. He is finally getting his life together, but he will never forget the girl who saved his life whilst he was living on the streets - Ev
Ev's life changed the night she helped the sick young man she found on the streets, while waiting for the ambulance Ev was run down by a motorbike , breaking her leg and making her family become over bearing.
As with all of Jo's pervious books I really enjoyed Micah and Ev's story, I was rooting for them all the way. Ev is such a kind, selfless girl who just wants to help people less fortune then herself. Micah has had such an awful start in life you want him to find love with Ev. Jo has an unique way with words she writes characters that tug at your heart strings but are able to turn you on at the same time.
This book is a great addition to the Inked Brotherhood series, can't wait too read more from the boys that work at Damage Control.

My first Jo Raven book and I found it quite steamy. She sure knows how to write a sex scene!!!

I liked Micah and Ev, great chemistry and character development.

I didn't, however, like all the mis-communication and secret keeping. A bit too much drama for my taste (maybe because they were so young?).

I will for sure check out Jo's other "tattoo" series.

I read the entire Inked Brotherhood series and enjoyed it so much that I knew I had to read this series, too. I enjoyed Micah and Evangeline"s (Ev) story. Micah was homeless for a while and almost died from an illness while living on the streets. Ev used to help out the homeless with gifts of money, food, and random kindness. After she's badly injured after being hit by a motorcycle while watching for the ambulance she called to aid a very sick homeless boy (Micah, although she doesn't realize it until much later), Ev has a long recovery period. Additionally, her parents and brother keep harassing her about staying away from the "unsavory" homeless people. Her ex-boyfriend won't accept the fact that she dumped him and is stalking her. Her parents and brother think her ex is wonderful: he saved her life by taking her to the hospital after the accident and is only trying to protect her by wanting her to stay away from the homeless. They won't listen when she tries to tell them that there's something wrong with her ex.
Micah and Ev run into each other again and begin to fall in love. He doesn't tell her that he met her before because of her confusing current behavior toward the homeless (she keeps her distance). He thinks she won't want anything else to do with him if she finds out he was homeless, too. This book was good. The love between Micah and Ev was believable and heartwarming, the sex scenes were steamy. My only disappointment was that the book was shorter than the inked brotherhood ones, and I finished it quickly. I know I'll work my way through this series in no time.

From the Inked Brotherhood series we saw a little bit of these guys. With the Inked boys past I didn’t think the Damage boys would be any better. Micah’s past, while bad, wasn’t as bad as some of the guys. I did like the connection he had to Ev and how each of them saved the other. To me Ev was a bit of a dark horse, things looked pretty easy in her life until you take into account her ex. The ex was bad news all the way around, but it isn’t til the end you realize how bad he was. I was glad that Ev had support to get away and that Micah was there for her.

The two main characters are young (Micah 20/ Ev 19) and so opposite in their upbringing, but they have a connection...and a past.

I enjoyed the story and the characters. I love that they both "see" others and don't look through them. I knew the miscommunication would become an issue for the couple, but with their ages it was to be expected.

I'll definitely read more of the series.

First book in the Damage Control series. This book is Micah and Ev's story. Ev was the good samaritan who helped Micah when he was sick and dying on the streets but a horrible accident prevented her from finding out what happened to him.

Seven months later fate has given them a second chance. Now working as a tattoo artist at Damage Control, Micah notices a girl frequenting the local donut shop across the street. He has a feeling she is his mysterious good samaritan named Ev but is hesitant to approach her. One, he is not really sure if it is her since this girl walks with a limp and two, if it is her, will she even remember him. Ev is a different person from who she was before, she questions who she is and if her efforts to help those living on the streets is really making a difference. Gaining back her confidence is a hard fight with a family that doesn't support or understand her and a crazy ex-boyfriend watching her every move. Despite all this, her mind still wanders to the man she helped all those months ago. Was he okay? Did he survive? Their official meet does take time but once they do, its one you will not likely forget. Yes, its seriously hot but also it's what they both do for each other. Ev becomes Micah's beacon of light in his dark life. His feelings for her are swoon worthy. And Micah helps her to find herself again. To take chances and live again. To be the person she once was. This was one of those stories that will have you fanning yourself one minute and smiling as these characters once again learn how to live.

"Micah" is part of the Red Hot Alphas Anthology just released. Pick it up now for more hot reads featuring more hot alpha males like Micah.

Boo

I had high hopes for this book based on the description and I was disappointed.

First off, the H was a stalker. He just watched her everyday from across the street. Creeper.

The h was spineless. She wasn't honest with the H (and the H kept a secret from her too). Her parents didn't believe her at all when she said her ex was making her uncomfortable. What kind of parents push a guy on their daughter that she thinks is a psycho? It just doesn't happen.

This was one of those 'i've only talked to you for twenty minutes, but I love you' books. Yeah, ugh.

The h sleeps with the creepy H after knowing him for like a day. There was no one night stand mentality at all. She slept with him in the same manner that a girl would sleep with her boyfriend of six months. It just wasn't written right.

To be honest, it was a bit boring. Not at all intense or even romantic.

Both main characters were unlikable and unrelatable.

Now for the positive side.
It was a quick read. The cover is nice and it was free. The ending was complete with no real cliffhangers. Yeah, that's about it...

Unless, you are completely bored with absolutely nothing else to read, I would not recommend this book

4 Micah Stars

This has to be a must read for anyone who enjoyed the Inked ,Brotherhood Series (Asher, Tyler,Zane, Dylan and Rafe) .
This is a story about Micah, one of the secondary characters from that series. He is a tattoo artist at Damage Control. Micah absolutely stole my heart. He had a terrible start in life and Zane saved him by giving him a job, a focus and a family...bringing him into the brotherhood. But, before that, when Micah was homeless and sick-destitute and alone, there was a beautiful girl that helped him when no one else would, and that girl saved his life. So what happens when their paths collide later on? A Beautiful bond is built upon and an undeniable attraction explodes between them. I loved these two characters. Both damaged in different ways, both strong and both destined to be together. HEA. No epilogue, but more in the series about other guys from Damage Control to come. Can't wait!

This story was truly a heartbreaking and heart mending story. I love how Micha made his love stronger and through his strength she was able to find herself. With her help Micha was able to pull himself together though for a moment I was holding my breathe. To just see these to wonderful strong people come together with themselves and friends to have this amazing bond and unwavering faith. Jo has done it again by breaking out hearts and sewing it back with another damaged boy in the threading. ❤️❤️

There were some elements of this story that I really liked; the heartfelt compassion that came through in Ev's character, and the insecurities Micah had about being in love. But what I don't think authors realize when a story is told from dual points of view is that the reader knows everything, so when most of the story is based on characters hiding information from the other it gets a bit tedious and frustrating when things don't move forward. That was my main problem with this otherwise sweet love story.

Another remarkable book by Jo Raven. her sense of imagination has no bounds with the alpha men in the inked brotherhood.
Micah, a remarkable, strong and vulnerable, escapes his horrid past with help from Zane...im sure you all remember him. But there was this one person who saved him from imminent death while sleeping rough...but can he find the courage to speak to her? is it the same fascinating woman who helped him at his weakest? to find out, just read his story.

highly recommended!

This was not as good as the dragon brotherhood books, but this was also much shorter and you did not get the full story like with them.
It was an OK read and I am going o read next in series when it comes out.
