An exasperating 3rd book in this 'Moonflower Cove' series. The storytelling just kaput my patience ....

The iconic couple.

This is the 3rd book of the Moonflower Cove romance series but timeline wise, it's set about 7 years before the first two books. I must confess that it's a little weird to read a series backward but it was fun knowing the younger versions of the characters and seeing how their friendships are forged, knowing what comes next.

Sophia and Emily is the iconic couple in the series but I didn't like Sophia in Book 1. I thought she was overprotective of Alexis and Harper to the point of being annoying but I like her here. In fact, I found her endearing, fascinating and really sexy and the way she steps in to protect Emily from a vulnerable situation was almost swoon-worthy.

Of course, it helps that the professor/student trope is my guilty pleasure. I really enjoyed the attraction between Sophia, who is an English professor and award winning literary novelist and Emily, her student. Sophia is the type of professor you don't mess around with but I like that Emily can hold her own and challenge Sophia. The taboo part of the relationship does come to play a little but as Emily calls it, it's a champagne problem and that eventually doesn't become much of an issue during winter break. What Sophia and Emily have between them starts out as lust but quickly evolves into something more and they are dependent on each other in a way they don't realise. Emily keeps Sophia company and accepts her for who she is while Sophia is Emily's safe haven and protector.

I love this iconic couple and I really enjoyed this book, though I would have liked to see more of the friendship between Sophia and Alexis.

Just a word of warning for whoever might be interested in reading this book. There's instances of physical abuse (not between the main couple) and one character deals with bipolar disorder.

I picked this book because of the age-gap and the very good rating. And Addison Clarke did a great job with this book.
Right at the beginning it‘s made clear that there‘ll be a HEA for the two MC Sophia and Emily as their romance is told in retrospect. It was a very enjoyable read for me because the MC have great chemistry and were able to talk about their problems and find a solution. The story had the right amount of difficult topics such as child abuse and mental health problems woven into it without overshadowing the romance. I sympathized with both Sophia and Emily and loved the book. Highly recommend.

I really enjoy this series and the story of Sophia and Emily was one I was very interested in. While it is a nice story, I expected more. I expected “bigger”, maybe more over the top than it is.

This is a sexier story than the other books set in the Cove with some very serious undertones. I’ll issue a warning here, there is abuse in this book, past abuse is mentioned and there is on page physical abuse. This and bipolar are very serious subjects that are also tackled in this book. I think the author did a good job on both, but I do feel like we needed a bit more focus on both these subject, or at least the effects it has on the characters.

I enjoy getting to know these characters more and more. I look forward to yet another instalment in this series.

CW: past abuse
Okay, so I'm willing to admit that I wasn't previously a fan of Sophia, but I love the Cove and Emily so I took a shot.
Loved it. Getting to know Sophia's story made me love her more than I thought I would. And her and Emily together is meant to be. Each of them have a tough past and opening up about it together, (which didn't come easy to either of them) was essential to their relationship building. This is set in the past compared to the other books so it was fun revisit other characters.

Even though these books can be read as stand alones, I suggest reading them in publication order. Theres a lot of people to get to know and the town and its people grow with the books.

Had high expectations for this book but the characters, everything felt flat in the end. The interaction between Sophia and Emily escalated pretty quickly by 25% of the book, like idg how it went from "oh no, she's my prof/student" into "okay, let's go on a date after the semester ends" like whaaaaaaaaat? Did I miss something here? And after the date happened, some stuff I can't remember occurred yada yada, and then they say I Love Yous to each other right away. Should've turned down a notch on my expectations LMAO. (messy review but that's only because I'm writing this so early in the morning)

This is a re-read for me, I left a rating the first time, but not a review. I LOVE THIS BOOK! Emily and Sophia are made for one another! Sophia is the dean of English and Emily's professor. Sophia has a reputation of being hard on her students. Emily was warned. Sophia questions her why she's taking a Master's English course, keeping someone out of her class that's an English major. But the two women are attracted to one another. This is a glorious age gap HOT love story!! 5 stars!

I expected to like this book but not love it. I have read the other two and greatly enjoyed them but never felt a particular draw or interest in Sophia, she was just someone that was there in the background for me. I didn't hate her but I also didn't love her so I went in expecting this book to just be a fun, quick read. I'm very glad that I was SO WRONG.

Sophia pulled me in from the first few pages and made me cheer for her, fee sad for her, and all around just want to hug her. In this book we get to go back in time and see how Sophia and Emily first met and fell in love, and in doing so we get a much better glimpse into what makes Sophia tick.

I loved how her struggle with mental health was portrayed, it's talked about and it does cause issues for her. Sophia struggles as many of us do, but that struggle does not take over the entire story and weigh it down. Instead it adds more layers, breaking up the cute and fun with the serious which leaves the reader with a well balanced story.

You can see how much the author's writing has improved from the first book in the series to this one. I look forward to seeing the continued growth and talent from Ms Clarke.

Please keep in mind this book is a romance so I am measuring it based in terms of romance books. Will this book be the next great American classic? No, of course not. Is it going to entertain you, give you all the right feels and leave you with a smile on your face and a feeling of hopefulness when it concludes? ABSOLUTELY!

Good book, enjoying the series, could be read as a stand alone, but I’d start at State of Grace (bk 1) This finished with a ‘freeby’ wrapping up an earlier book. Recommended.

A Great Glimpse Into Another Fascinating Couple Of The Cove!

I love this series and hope it continues. This was a sweet look into Sophia and Emily’s start of their relationship. I love the segue way into their start by Blake at the rehearsal dinner before Alexis and Blake’s wedding. The story itself was a look into Emily’s home life and Sophia’s home and marriages. What draws two souls together, the answer is from Sophia and it was a really good one. It was nice to see how the Cove crowd rally for them both. Addison Clarke has captured readers to this lovely and supportive place to live. Her writing in these three books has been exciting, heartwarming and heartbreaking. You can not help falling in love with Moonflower Cove!

I was SO excited to read about the origin story for Emily and Sophia and it didn't disappoint at all! I got so caught up in their story that I read this book in a day! And am now re-reading to enjoy it some more. Throughout the story, I was falling more in love with Sophia than before, Emily I already loved. Emily's just awesome really and a best friend I could only wish to have!
I will add more to this review once I have processed their story more, but for now, I'm so in love with these ladies. And the ending is fantastic!
This book had me laughing and crying for so many different reasons and the inter relationships between all the characters is just so wonderful and feels so real.

I always wanted to read Sophia and Emily's story and it was everything I ever wanted. It was romantic, steamy, some angst and so much love.

I loved how Sophia was smitten with Emily from the beginning and how she confronted Sam after she went to Emily's house.

I was not expecting the information we found out while Sophia was in Paris and I was sad for both Emily and Sophia for what happened.

Plus we got to see the wedding! Oh my little gay heart burst with all the feels.

Great series.

I am reading out of order but it is the way it happened. Apparently these books are that great it does not matter. I read about Maddie and Walker and now Emily and Sophia. Both were amazing.

Champagne Problems

Addison Clarke tells a good story. I love the heartfelt emotions she is pouring through the pages. Each book has brought tears to my eyes in this series, and I'm not a crier. I love the story of Sophia and Emily. I liked that it didn't go back and forth in time. I love the friend group and look forward to more.

Another great book

Another great book, the 3rd in the Moonflower Cove series. This one is the backstory of Emily and Sophia and it’s another hit for Clarke. Emily, a business major, has enrolled to one of Sophia’s English lit classes and Sophia is not happy, which she makes clear. Trying to prove her wrong takes Emily and Sophia on a different path, the path to a Hallmark love story, even though yes, they are too gay for Hallmark, and it takes us along for the ride. I really enjoyed this book, and although there’s a little angst, we do know that this is a HEA from the beginning. A pleasant read with the added bonus of Alexis and Blake’s wedding.

Beautiful age-gap romance

This was a beautiful look back in time. Two amazing characters tell their love story at a wedding rehearsal.

There's love, there's drama, there's more love.

This is my first review for Addison Clarke. But it won’t be my last. Champagne Problems is the third book in the Moonflower Cove series, and although I absolutely loved the first two books, this has now become my new favourite in the series.

After reading State of Grace, two of the characters I wanted more of a backstory on were Sophia Beauchamp and Emily Crawford, and Addison delivered.

This story was written beautifully, and If you like the age gap, teacher/student trope with a happily ever after, then you will absolutely love this book.

A little backstory: Emily is a business major, who decides to take up English Lit at college (university) and ends up in Sophia Beauchamp's class. From the very first class, Sophia wasn’t happy with Emily taking a space from someone else, as she was a business major.

Then one night when Emily was working at the bar, ‘Straight to Ale’, she noticed her professor sitting at the end of the bar. From here, the two get talking and Sophia hints for Emily to show her around a wine bar in town.

From this night onwards, the relationship between the two of them changed. They were falling for one another, but of course, there’s always something in the way. Emily was still a student of Sophia’s until the final at the end of the semester. There’s also a few other things that get in the way and almost split the two up, but I won’t spoil it for you, you’ll have to read it!

They both had their ups and downs individually and as a couple throughout the story, but ultimately, it’s a very happy ending.

The chemistry between both Sophia and Emily is out of this world. They have become my two favourite characters in the cove, sorry Alexis and Blake! The not so PG scenes were hot, and how could anyone resist a gorgeous, older French woman?!

I’m really excited to see what else Addison is going to release. If they’re anything like the previous three books then we are in for a treat! I can’t wait to read more about the residents of Moonflower Cove. I have decided I need to move there as soon as possible.

Also, stick around for a little surprise at the end of the book, you won’t be disappointed!

Emily Crawford and Sophia Beauchamp are firmly a couple when the series begins. But in this book they share the beginning of their steamy age gap romance. Sophia is wealthy, an English professor and a successful author in France when she takes a job at a University in Maine. After a few years she is now a dean. She is teaching only one master level English class and is annoyed that a business student is getting one of few seats. Emily Crawford is the student. There is instant attraction but of course nothing can happen while they are in a professor/student situation. But they are thrust together quickly because of Emily’s home-life situation. They know they sizzle together, but they haven’t had time to build trust and know how the other reacts to obstacles and challenges.

Half the fun of this book is getting a younger version of the friend group. This is before Alexis is a mother and Walker has given up drinking. I wish I’d seen a little more of why Sophia is fiercely protective of Alexis in the first book. But it is fun to see them meeting for the first time. This is one of the stories where you know the ending but can sit back and enjoy how they start towards the solid couple they become. (4.5 Stars)

There were two reasons I decided to pick up this book, first its called Champagne Problems and that’s one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs. The second reasons is that it’s a sapphic romance. These are some solid reasons but I was further sold when I realized it’s not only an age gap but also a master’s student and college professor/Dean romance. What can I say I’m a simple gal. 😂

Anyway I had a lot of fun reading this book. It reads pretty quick but you definitely cover a lot of time.

I would double check some triggers, some of the noticeable ones for me was parental neglect and parental domestic abuse (verbal and physical) both mentioned in the past and on page.

I think this did a good job with mental illness representation. Sophia has bipolar disorder, and has a few chapters while she’s in a manic state.

3.5 stars overall. This was my first book by this author (and my first book in the series but I believe these can be read as standalones), but it definitely won’t me my last.

Engaging Age Gap English Department Romance

I am remiss to say that I haven’t read the other two Moonflower Cove Romances, but the title, description, and cover attracted my attention to this book. Initially I was a little lost with all the characters in the first chapter, but I settled in when the story began to focus more on Emily and Sophia.

The story of an age gap romance between student Emily and her English Department Professor/Dean, Sophia, was very realistic, the characters were engaging, and their champagne problems helped advance their relationship. I also enjoyed Sophia’s professional relationship with her TA, Jordan. Sophia did not really have friends after moving to the United States from Paris, but she and Jordan developed a trusting relationship over time. 4.5 stars

A really cute and cozy romance to read and relax.

The characters are really lovable, Sophia and Emily are adorable together and especially at the beginning I adored their teacher/student interactions!
While Sophia was a bit bitchy and icy, Emily was reallh cute and friendly and I just adored to see their little interactions during the first few pages.
As the story progressed, i also enjoyed to see the change in Sophia while we also go to know why she acts the way she does. Also the scene of her being the “knight in shining armor” and saving Emily from her dad and the house!!! I fell in love!!

However, I think the story could’ve used a bit more depth in the arguments. Still as a story itself it is very cute and it’s soo nice to get to know their story!!!
I really enjoyed the writing as well.

This is my first book by this author. I was glad I found it. Emily is a 23 year old student working on her degree in business but decides to take a Women and Sexuality class to complete her curriculum. Sophia is a professor in her late 40's, with a reputation of being tough, icy but an excellent professor. It was lust at first sight but Emily being her student, things had to wait. I found the age gap a bit much but the story, the way it was written, the baggage each one brings to the relationship makes you forget the fact that Sophia doubles Emily's age and more.
I like the way this author writes and will definitely explore her other books. In fact, I'm now reading her Moonflower Cove #4 novella.

Another great book in the series. This romance goes back in time to look at how Sophia and Emily fell in love. I liked seeing characters from previous stories. Working in academia myself, professor/student romances rub me the wrong way so I had to fight against that as I was reading the novel. I also wished there had been more push and pull in the romance. It felt like they went from “I can’t date her! She’s my professor/student!” to I’m going to openly flirt with her at a bar way too quickly. It took me off guard how they went from restraint to screw it in a few pages. But other than that, I enjoyed the book and can’t wait for what comes next in the series!

Age-gap love and building trust!

Emily, a graduate student, and Sophia, the professor, couldn't help but get together. Try as they might to stay apart, they were drawn together from the first class. I really liked how they looked for each other every day at the coffee cart while their flirting kept "amping up" their longing! I enjoyed the story because their love was described so well, but, like in real life, hiding the truth is never good. The secondary characters were wonderful which makes the reader want to find all the books in this series. I liked the writing, but how far into the future was the epilogue? Did Emily ever graduate?

I enjoyed this book from a stance of getting to know two more characters from the Cove. However, it was one of the characters that I haven’t liked since the first book of the series, and she did some questionable things with no real good explanation as to why. I tried my best and she grew in me a little, but her character just made this book meh, for me. I enjoyed their views of their love story, and the check ins with all the other girls from the Cove. This series and setting is still one of my favorite series, but I feel like more could have been explained, explored and detailed within their stories. A lot of loose ends were left just that, loose and unresolved.

Awesome Series

I love the story of Emily & Sophia.  Their journey to each other was beautiful, how they fought through their own pasts and insecurities to make certain they remained together!

I was a little confused with what appears to be a gap in the timeline.  Book #3 begins at the wedding rehearsal for Alexis & Blake and goes into a flashback story of Emily & Sophia’s story, finishing with the wedding.

In book #1, Alexis has Hunter when she meets Blake, with only a reference to how.  But, when Sophia & Emily meet, Alexis has not had Hunter yet.  But it’s not that important, the stories so far are fantastic!!

Champagne Problems - 🍾 📚 📖 📙

This was very sweet. I didn't realize it was a series until partway through, but it seems to be a stand-alone. The characters are all great, though, so I'm excited to read the other couples' stories!

Emily and Sophia are great together - I mean professor and student relationship? That's hot!🔥They had a bit of a rough start in the beginning, but once they got past it, they were very steamy! They had some ups and downs, and their relationship moved extremely fast, but it wasn't anything that honest communication couldn't fix by the epilogue. Can't wait to read more Moonflower Cove Romances 🥰❤️

My wife tells me that life is too short to spend it finishing books you don’t enjoy. I was not enjoying this book, and so, a little more than one-quarter way through it, I stopped reading it. I’m not a big genre reader and this was very firmly in the age-gap, power-inequity, slightly forbidden-fruit category. It did not grab or hold my interest. The characters did not seem well-developed. The attempt at sexiness did nothing for me. I noticed that the author threw in bipolar disorder and an abusive relationship with a parent as backstory, but those hints felt tacked on. I don’t know. It just did not work for me.
