A troubled rockstar, on the path to destruction. A feisty photographer who knows heart-ache like the back of her hand Will she give her trust to a man who cannot be trusted?
JASMINE Could life suck anymore? Not only did I catch my a-hole ex cheating with my own eyes, but now I'm struggling to pay the rent while I'm stuck in an all-consuming job. When my boss approaches me with the opportunity to photograph international rockstar Kit Jones while he's in town...I refuse. Why? Because– Kit Jones is a womanizer, arrogant and frustratingly handsome. Just the type I swore I'd never fall for.
KIT Escaping New York to record a new single in Seaview, was the record labels idea, not mine. Actually, it was more of an ultimatum. I guess it was my own fault, bedding most of Manhattan hasn't exactly cleaned up my image. As fate would have it, Jasmine, the spirited red-head I'd propositioned in the bar, was now the band's photographer. But she doesn't seem to care about my reputation, except as more fuel for her disdain of me. Maybe it's the blistering Australian heat, but she is the fire to my frozen heart. Will she dare to trust me? Or will we both go up in flames?
Strap yourself in for this hot-as-hell playboy rockstar and feisty small-town girl romance. Guaranteed HEA!
Missy is an Australian author who writes kissing books with equal parts angst and steam. She loves writing stories about billionaires, enemies to lovers, and the boy next door- just to name a few.
When she’s not writing, she’s taking care of her two daughters and doting husband.
Inspired by the acreage she lives on, Missy regularly distracts herself by visiting her orchard… some days more often than writing!
Then there’s her overweight cat, Charlie, chickens, and bees if she needed another excuse to pass the time.
And, when the day ends, there’s nothing better than unwinding with a gin and tonic as the sunsets surrounded by the ones she loves.
A trouble gorgeous rockstar and an independent strong leading lady! Can these two come together, trust and find their happily ever after? Such a good read as this is the first book I have read by this author. This book focuses on the male lead and his panty dropping ways with a deep feeling of remorse and fault. He meets a sassy photographer who gives it right back to him in spades. Trusting one another turns into a passion they both needed.
I received this book as a Free ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
Kit is a famous rock star who is back in Australia with his band for a little studio time and image rehabilitation. He's had problems with womanizing and drinking too much. Jasmine gets hired to photograph them. She thinks he's an utter catastrophe at first but then he reveals his more vulnerable side to her and encourages her to follow her own artistic dreams regarding photography. They fall in love but she can't really trust him, however, because his history is well known.
This book was a little hit and miss for me. I had a hard time warming up to the hero. When we first meet him and his bandmates they're giving an improvised performance at an Australian karaoke bar and I hated them all because they act and talk like a bunch of misogynistic douchebros. It takes a long while to rehabilitate him into a semblance of a romance hero. We find out about his grief and guilt (he lost a loved one to suicide) that makes him seem like a more human character but even so, you could lose a loved one without becoming a jerk.
It's also quite possible that he was a jerk long before he lost his brother. The timeline of Kit's career was a bit confusing to me but he's 25 and he hasn't been back in his native Australia or seen his family for 7 years, not since forming his band. The last year, he's avoided them because he had a period of downward spiral caused by addiction and grief. But it's unclear why he never came back in the six years before that. Once he was prevented from coming because of a tour but he can't always have been touring, or he could have arranged for his family to fly to meet him somewhere. Did they never tour in Australia? You'd think a world famous band of local boys would be a big hit there. Anyway, it didn't seem to me like he had any good excuse not to meet his family once during all those years, and when his friends describe him as someone who always takes care of everyone else it doesn't strike me as totally true. Then there is an ill-fated trip to Las Vegas that he doesn't want to go on, and it's never explained why he didn't just stay back from the trip. It was their drummer's birthday and he could have partied without Kit who didn't drink much after his stint in rehabilitation anyway.
I did like some scenes a lot and it gets better towards the end. When Jasmine gets closer to Kit emotionally she starts calling him Chris like his parents do. That was a nice touch.
On top of the plot problems, it badly needed another round of meticulous editing as there are too many typos, homophone errors, punctuation issues, errant quote marks and so on.
The chapters alternate with Jasmine's and Kit's first person point of view.
Steam level: Besides Jasmine and Kit having mutually satisfactory and beautiful sex, there are descriptions of more sordid sexual activity involving other participants. (No, he does not cheat on her while they're involved although I totally expected him to.)
I received a free review copy and this is a voluntary review.
Hot cover, hot rock star, hot sex, equals hot book.
If you like fleshed out characters and a plot with a sexy hero then this is probably a book you will like. If you like your hero’s to be sexy and damaged then Kit is definitely the rock star for you.
When I first meet Kit I did not think there was any way I could like him. He is definitely not my typical hero from the books I enjoy. (I am obsessed with virgin heroes who don’t know what they are doing.) I don’t think Kit could be any further from this.
But as Jazzie started to fall for him, so did I. He may have has a lot of faults but he was always honest and usually sweet. (Rich don’t hurt either.)
I admit hating the turn we took, but that is because I like happy characters in happy books, but 100% happy does not make for a good story. So a book needs twists and turns otherwise, what is the point? Still… I hated the turn.
I was given an free advanced copy in return for an honest review.
I case you are wondering… This is on my “light erotica”shelf because I usually read smut with very little story line. So, even though this book had a few steamy sex scenes, in comparison to the stuff I read, this was mild for me. Probably not mild for regular romance readers. Same reasoning for putting it on my “all story” shelf. I usually read “girl gets lost in the woods, guy finds her, 200 pages of all the ways they bang”. So for me, this is all story. But again, this book has make out sessions and sexy sex. It is just more romantic and story driven than I am used to. Which is good for the majority of people who like to actually read a good story!
What a fantastic debut! A cocky but broken and vulnerable rockstar and a badass, take-shit-from-no-one but super sweet heroine!
I loved these two since the very start, the chemistry was bursting out of my Kindle. Kit was the funniest cocky ass singer I’ve ever read, but my girl Jazzie had a bullshit meter calibrated on point! You can imagine how that went!
I loved their banter and how flirty thwy were, even though they both were trying to fight the attraction, it blended deliciously with the friendship they developed. I loved the progression of their relationship, the more they knew about each other, the more they were able to open up and be vulnerable, especially Kit, who got to show a side of him that made him such a perfect book boyfriend.
Kit supported Jazzie, wanted her to be what her heart wanted to be. He was so inspired by her in every way. Jazzie understood Kit and got to see beyond the rockstar facade and showed him how different life could be for him without telling him. The moments they had while they slowly started to fall in love were THE SWOONIEST! And the steam even more emotional and meaningful because of that.😍
I loved all the lessons they learned, the trust they built and the understanding they were able to have for one another despite having so many obstacles.
This story was so beautiful and I can’t recommend it enough!
Many thanks to Missy Walker for gifting me this advance copy in exchange for a review! Can’t wait to read book 2!
Delightful Story of Personal Growth & Learning to Trust What do you get when you take one bad boy, slightly broken rockstar and a sassy, small town photographer? Not a match one would think was made in heaven. Kit, our rockstar main character, knows that drowning himself in booze and women do not make for a blissful night’s sleep or take the pain away and his record company needs him to clean up his act so ships him and the band off to Australia to write and record their next EP away from the headlines. First night in Australia just continues with the bad – way to make a first impression! Jasmine is out with her gal pals and witnesses this train wreck as he tries to get her attention. Not impressed! To her horror the next day she is assigned a three week gig photographing the band. This is a delightful story of people breaking down their barriers, getting to really know another, personal growth and learning to forgive and trust. At times lighthearted and at other times heartbreaking, the main and supporting characters are well fleshed out and their stories are told with humor and passion. I was totally engrossed in the book from the start, eagerly flipping through the pages to discover the ending. Looking forward to more in this series from Missy Walker.
Trusting a Rockstar is Missy Walker's debut novel and I can only say wow! It's a page-turning rockstar romance, with a quirky photojournalist who is given the assignment to document a larger-than-life rock god as he is back home in Australia.
Jasmine loves photography but is fed up with her work at the local newspaper. She is also coming out of a fail relationship after her boyfriend cheated on her. She is smart and sassy, says what she thinks, and is not impressed easily. In fact, she is rarely starstruck.
Kit Jones is the lead singer of Four Fingers rock band. He is known for his reckless behavior, his drinking, and for always getting his way with women. He hasn't been back to Australia in seven years, since he left with his two best friends/bandmates and moved to NYC. Now, the label company is forcing to clean up his image while the band works on the new record.
Jasmine can't stand Kit and his ways. But work is work, and she has to document the band's stay in the country. So the last she was expecting was to know and trust the real Kit. And Kit definitely wasn't expecting the sassy Jazzie. Can they keep their relationship professional? Will the past and untold demons come back to haunt them?
If I hadn't known that Trusting a Rockstar was a debut novel, I would have thought Missy Walker was a seasoned author. The character development is really good and on point. The story flows and the plot works. Plus, it's set up in a small coastal Australian town, which makes it even more captivating. I'm officially hooked and can't wait to see where this series is going.
Player rockstar Kit meets the only woman who won't fall at his feet. Jasmine shoots him down then suddenly is offered a job most would kill for, photographing his band while they're in Australia laying low for a couple of weeks staying away from scandal. She's determined to keep things professional which only intrigues him more. Soon he's not sure it's just a challenge anymore and starts to feel things about a woman who refuses to trust him. A story of judging a book by it's cover and opening up to the one, or two things that scare you the most. These two characters are actually relatable and ones that you want to see make it. Heartbreaking while sexy. I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest opinion.
Jasmine, a newspaper photographer, is exhausted when Kit, founding member of Four Finger rock band, can’t seem to leave her alone when the band makes a surprise appearance at a karaoke night at a local pub. As the story progresses an unwanted job is given, an unlikely friendship spring up, and letting go of the past to live in the present is harder than they think. Missy Walker’s Trusting a Rockstar is an exciting enemies to lovers romance read. If this book is what sets the tone, the series will live up to the name of Sassy Seaview.
I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Trusting the Rockstar by a new author new to me, Missy Walker is a fantastic story of a jaded Rockstar and a photojournalist. The story is told with a fresh point of view with humor, real family issues, and two hearts learning to trust each other. Jasmine’s job is to help repair Kit’s playboy image through pictures of the band recording new music in an out-of-away place in Jasmine’s hometown. Friendship and change encounters turn into something more. Can Jasmine and Kit fall for each other? Will trust be an issue? Can they overcome fans, media, and unexpected circumstances to have a HEA? This is a book that needs to be read! I will be reading more of her books.
Great debut novel Sex. Drugs. And rock and roll. That’s the kind of “predictable” behaviour that makes news photographer, Jasmine, want to run in the opposite direction from rock star, Kit Jones. But she is forced to spend three weeks in his company, and discovers there is more to him than meets the eye—and yes, she’s seen more of him than anyone should see at their first meeting. They shouldn’t make a great pair. After all, he can’t protect the ones he loves, and she can’t trust him. But it is great to see how they grow in their characters and strive to overcome their issues. I loved the setting, in a small town in Australia, the family issues that added extra conflict, and the writer’s easy-to-read style. In summary, this is a great debut novel—kudos to the author.
Oh Kit! I could tell from the beginning you was going to be a good guy behind your womanizing ways. You just needed the strong independent women to put you on the path.
Kit a famous rockstar goes back home to Australia after so run ins with the press.
Jasmine (Jazzie) a strong independent women who recently got out of a relationship just wanted one thing to be a photographer.
I love that the heroine doesn’t fall immediately into the rockstar charm. To see the hero grow into someone Jazzie would want.
I wasn’t happen with the turn it took towards the end but i understood at the end why it had to happen that way it did.
Jazzie was getting over a breakup and her life was at a standstill. She loved photography but her job at the paper barely kept her eating and living indoors. Kit and his band were going to be in this seaside town for three weeks while recording their new album. From the start you know Kit is grieving, he’s in pain and drinking too much. He isn’t drunk enough not to notice Jazzie who immediately turns him down, and not too nicely. These two had great chemistry and got along well. This story is short and moves quickly. There were ups and downs but I loved the ride. I’m giving this book five starts and highly recommend it.
If you're after a rockstar romance that's medium burn, sexy, feel good. Trusting a rockstar is for you. When Jasmine first meets Kit she shoots him down, which kits not used too. When Jasmine is assigned as the bands photographer and has to spend 3 weeks with kit that's when the gun begins. Kit has his issues to deal with that Jasmine helps him over come. Jasmine has been hurt in the past by her previous boyfriends so she doesn't trust easily. Put those together and you get yourself a sexy, fun, engaging and beautiful love story
Seemingly the first book from this author. I have read all the other series (Elite Men, Slater Siblings, Elite Mafia, and Elite Heirs (what’s currently available)) and for her first book, there was a slow start and it ends up being a beautiful HEA.
The characters don’t have DARK dark demons but they still have issues they’re going through. They find each other, there’s a hiccup and then the sweet HEA.
I would have preferred more spice but this isn’t the smuttiest smut type of smut. Balance is good sometimes when you want a plot.
Trusting a Rock Star is a charming, engaging story of a spoiled musician and the photographer that changes his life. Missy has created a world where men/boys live an excessive life...too much booze, too many women, too much of everything. No spoiler here, but watching trust and honesty change one man's world is worth the ride. This is wonderful way to spend your time. Hope the rest of Missy's books like up to her first.
Best Rockstar romance I've ever read! I know some people might not think but compare to the ones I've read, I didn't cry too much. :-) It was a simple romance.
I also love that there weren't to much sex scenes. You have to admit, these days lots of author let the sex scenes take over their stories. And as a romance novel lover, it gets old. Sex scenes are like salt, too much can ruin your entire food.
Wow, just wow! To say the very least I have been truly overwhelmed by jazzy and kit. Jazzy is so strong and loyal. She is not only true to herself but to her friends as well. She tried so hard to stay away from kit, but couldn’t. For someone who was known as a womanizing jerk, kit certainly showed us a different side of himself. Even he didn’t realize his heart was so big it could be filled so full. Hope there will be more of jazzy and Kit.
4.5 stars for me... sweet, angsty, with a bit of steam. And easy and enjoyable read.
At 230 pgs it's a full length but not overly long book. A solid opening to a series. Characters are introduced well, and we get enough backstory to feel as if we know our lead characters... and like them. We have a journey of growth on both sides. And support characters that step into important moments. I really liked Trusting The Rockstar, and I'm hoping to enjoy Trusting The Ex very soon.
Rockstar story but with a different twist. Good story line. There were times it seemed like a word didn't quite fit the sentence, I think because the author was trying to use different descriptive words. A couple of other small things that I thought should have logically happened but didn't. On the whole a good read. I received and ARC for an honest review.
This was my first read from this author. I really loved the first person point of view which is always a deal breaker for me. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future. I truly enjoyed this story. I received an ARC copy of this book through StoryOrigin in exchange for an honest voluntary review.
This is the story of Jasmine and Kit. I enjoyed this romance where our heroine doesn’t fall all over the rockstar. It’s refreshing to see how this relationship grows. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jasmine and kit wow the pull these two have to each other . She gives him all SAS he needs thrown at him . The journey they go threw healing re ach other is amazing great read 5 stars
A good easy read. The narrative flows smoothly and the lead characters are charismatic and believable. Set on the Sunshine Coast of Southern Queensland (Australia), this extremely beautiful area was so well realized it made me nostalgic for holidays spent there with my father. (Thanks for that, Missy.) It's a 'she-chases-him-till-he-catches-her' type romance. Very real, very Ozzie.
