I chose to read the book called Illustrated Alice, which comes in two separate parts. One story is called Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and the other is titled Through the Looking-Glass. Both stories are based on the famous book written by Lewis Carroll. The book has fantastic illustrations, which were drawn by Mauro Evangelista. I only watched the movie about Alice in wonderland, so I decided to read these two short stories, which I enjoyed.

The first story tells about Alice falling into the rabbit’s hole. At the end of the hole she finds herself in a magical world which she is interested to explore. However, there is one problem: she is too tall for this world, so she needs to find different types of food or drinks which will change her size. She gets clues about all sorts of things from various creatures living in this magical place, which enables her to explore their fantasy world. On Alice’s journey she meets a variety of creatures, such as the rabbit, the cat, the caterpillar, the March Hare, even the Mad Hatter, and the most valuable person, queen of the wonderful world.

The second story starts off with Alice wondering what it would be like to go inside the mirror. Eventually she does it and reappears in the magical world. Now she wants to become the queen of this world, and the Red Queen wants to help her. Alice meets a variety of creatures, such as the Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Red King, a sheep from a shop, Humpty Dumpty, and the White Queen. She enjoys exploring this world a lot and wants to complete her mission of becoming a queen.

Alice experiences a lot of adventures throughout these two stories. I think this book is interesting because the characters are unusual and enjoyable to learn about. Alice is a brave character, who loves exploring the magical world. All of the creatures in this story are very different from each other, and some are even amusing. In my view, there were a few funny parts in this book. Overall it was easy to follow and understand. I would recommend this book to friends who enjoy short fantasy stories. I would like to read the full version of Alice in Wonderland and then compare the two stories. I think this book is good for kids aged from 7 until about 14, since the plot is easy to understand, and the book has remarkable illustrations. I would give this book a 6/10 because I think it could be longer and more detailed. However, the illustrations are wonderful, and the plot is exciting, which makes you want to read the book.
