Blood Red Kiss

I had a dirty secret… Since I was a little girl, I dreamt of being bitten by a vampire.

I had always been desperate to feel cold, hard fangs in my neck, and have the blood sucked out of me by a beautiful creature of the night.
But when a vampire chased me through dark London streets, my bare feet pounding along mossy cobblestones as I ran, I quickly realized just how dangerous my fantasies were.

Hans Jacob Weyer was faster than me, and he didn’t care that my body wasn’t willing to be his victim. He pinned me to the wall that night and presented me with my first choice of many.

Choices that would tear my soul to the core and open trapdoors in my mind I never knew I had.

Family chains with a twisted path of torment and beauty. Openings to a new world I never knew existed; a world of witches and sages, and spirits of the dead.

And vampires…

Hans Jacob Meyer was a vampire on a mission. He was going to claim me as his and nothing was going to get in his way.

Author’s note: As always, this is a Jade West novel – only this time it’s a paranormal one. Turns out vampires have some very filthy traditions. Please proceed with caution.

Jade has increasingly little to say about herself as time goes on, other than the fact she is an author, but she’s plenty happy with this. Living in imaginary realities and having a legitimate excuse for it is really all she’s ever wanted.
Jade is as dirty as you’d expect from her novels, and talking smut makes her smile.
She lives in the Herefordshire countryside with a couple of hounds and a guy who’s able to cope with her inherent weirdness.
She has a red living room, decorated with far more zebra print than most people could bear, and fights a constant battle with her addiction to Coca-Cola.

This hurts to say, but this one just didn’t work. This story read like YA trying to be a grown-up. I didn’t feel any connection with the characters, and the kink was...not that kinky. Depth of character, and pushing sexual boundaries is usually what West is so good at. It was disappointing not finding that here.

I recommend reading these other books by West: Bait for the primal kink and excellent character arcs (not to mention multiple cock piercings). Hello Stranger for the heart and character depth and Sugar Daddies for intimacy and self-discovery with two partners.

I’ll keep supporting this author and hope she finds her vibe again. Life is such a struggle and I admire her talent and tenacity to push through it all.

First off I need to say that Jade is one of my all time favorite authors. As a writer she’s one of my idols and I aspire to write like she does.

This unfortunately didn’t meet my expectations. Not to say that I didn’t enjoy it, there were certain aspects that I did. Such as Hans, I thought he was a great character. I liked how much Katherine grew and evolved. I felt like the plot had good pacing.

As for what I didn’t enjoy as much. I didn’t feel that deep seated connection between these two when there should be this overwhelming sense of it. The plot twist was obvious to me throughout most of the story. I felt like Jade rushed and it didn’t see an editor.

Mostly though, I had the highest expectations for the smut and it was lacking. It was so vanilla to me, even including cnc, being heavy on the pain over pleasure and the voyeurism. It all felt very pedestrian and not what I’ve come to expect. I did like using blood as lube, I thought that was clever.

Plus I appreciate her using a real legend from her home town that she interwove into the plot.

It almost felt like she held back. There was a promise almost of multiple partners, but we never followed through. She introduced so many good characters that maybe there will be future stories that we get to play with all of them. I hope so.

This book consumed me in the most reckless way 😮‍💨🔥 Blood Red Kiss is messy, dark, and absolutely unrestrained—just like the characters who tear each other apart and can’t let go. Jade West poured obsession and heartbreak onto every page, and I couldn’t stop turning them even when it hurt. It’s raw, chaotic, and unforgettable… the kind of story that lingers long after the last line 🖤

Blood Red Kiss was a awesome erotic vampire romance from the amazingly talented Jade West!!!!! I've read a few of Jade's books so I knew what I was getting into! When I saw she had a vampire romance coming out and saw the cover and read the description I knew I had to read it!!! A girl who always dreamed about having a vampire lover and getting bit! Sign me the fuck up!! And her name was Katherine too! Close enough to Kat for me! Hans Jacob Weyer
Is a 700 year old hot sexy vamp who is more Spike then Angel if you know what I mean. He's a total predator and loves the chase and Katherine goes from having naughty thoughts to full out blood play queen in seconds! Katherine loves the pain and pleasure of his bite and becomes addicted to this devil may care vamp. Katherine has loved vampires since she was a little girl and is totally fascinated by Hans. All her life her mother and grandmother have said that she carries a darkness and made her feel ashamed of her desires but when she meets Hans he opens a new world to her but he is keeping secrets that he knows about Katherine and when the truth comes out about what she is and memories of the past come rushing back to her will she run away or fulfill her destiny as Hans fated mate. This isn't a sweet love story and gentle lovemaking! This is primal fucking with lots of blood exchanged! If blood play isn't your thing or vampires being vampires bothers you maybe you should pass on this one. But I'd give it
a try . Usually I'm not into much blood anything but the writing was good and Hans is a vampire after all. While I love a little biting here and their
I don't want pain I want the vamps that make you feel nothing but pleasure
from their bite! But whatever does it for you. Overall I think Jade really
did a awesome job on her first vampire romance!! It was a great read and keep me entertained. Until next time Luv's💕💋

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Female

Since she was a little girl, Katherine Blakely has always been fascinated by vampires. Little did she know her ultimate fantasy was about to became reality when she met the mysterious Hans Jacob Weyer. And it was only the beginning of something that could take her deeper than she ever imagined.

The first half felt a little off, and the pace didn’t help much. Throughout the book, there is an imbalance of between too little and too much when it comes to the plot. Thankfully the second half felt much more like a natural Jade West book.

Hans has the potential of being a fascinating hero, but I felt his character could use more intensity. Katherine was young and sometimes reckless. She had a lot to take being thrown into a new world. The sexy scenes were satisfying, though I wished for more debauchery.

Blood Red Kiss is a story of embracing one’s true self. It would appeal to readers who enjoy vampire romance.

A psychic, a ghost whisperer, and a witch walk into a bar…

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🩵🖤❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☺️😍🥰😁

The heroine: Katherine Blakely - she grew up in the small town of Orcop, near Herefordshire in England. She was raised by her mother and grandmother who were both extremely devout women and Katherine always felt like the black sheep in her family. Her mother and grandmother always told her to stop being so fanciful and they chipped away at her self-esteem. So, she moved away to London and got a job as a bartender at the Regency, an elite gentlemen’s club where wealthy patrons came to unwind at night.

The Hero: Hans Jacob Weyer - he was a vampire who had been alive for more than 700 years, and he has been waiting for Katherine since before she was born. He watched over her when she was a child and rarely approached her directly while she was under the control of her mother and grandmother. However, now that she was on her own, he knew it was time to approach her. He was also a member of the Regency where she worked.

The Story: Katherine had known Hans for a while as a member of the club and she thought he was very handsome, but she hadn’t really taken stock of him until one night near Halloween. She had always been interested in vampire lore, movies, and television shows, ever since she was a child and saw them in cartoons. On that particular night before Halloween, one of the members of the club was dressed as a vampire and she couldn’t take her eyes off him. Hans noticed and mentioned that she seemed enamored with vampires. They got into a discussion on Vampires, and she let it be known that if they were real, she would like to be bitten by one.

After that night, Hans was in the forefront of her mind, and she could not get him out. He was in her dreams, which seemed very real and in her thoughts all the time. He pursued her as well. One thing that bothered me was when Hans asked Katherine who her favorite vampire of all time was, and she answered Gary Oldman as Dracula. There are so many good vampires out there to choose from, she did mention she liked Angel and Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so that redeemed her a bit in my eyes. However, what about Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt from Interview? Or the Eric Northman from True Blood? Or really any of the handsome vampires from Vampire Diaries? We also can’t forget Jason Patrick as Michael in The Lost Boys, or even Wesley Snipes as Blade. So many good ones and she picks Gary Oldman? I don’t get it.

I am a big fan of the normal girl in a paranormal world trope and though Katherine isn’t really a normal girl, she thinks she is. She has a hidden history that she can’t access, though Hans knows about it and takes his time with her. The only thing I didn’t really like was how often the blood red kiss was referred to. I got a bit sick of it. This one was very steamy; so much so that I got a bit bored and wanted to get to the parts about his plans for her, why he waited so long for her and especially what was hidden away in her mind about her background, and why her family was so messed up. It seemed like every time Katherine started asking Hans questions and things started getting interesting, he would say, “No more questions now.” Though I have to admit, once she started getting her answers, I really started liking this one a lot more.

“I’m going to take your innocence, hard and fierce, and I’m going to drink an awful lot of blood from your throat to go along with it. So, please. Finish up your steak and we can get started.”

“My sweetheart was a vampire. A bisexual, murdering, vampire. A stunningly handsome vampire with a monster cock. And I was his witch. I wasn’t sure whether my cackling laugh was aloud or in my head.”

Another thing I wasn’t too fond of was the “Blood House”, which at first, I thought was just a place vampires could go to feed on willing victims. However, since biting and sex were so synergistic, it turned out to be more like a sex club that involved blood play. To me, wanting to bite or be bitten by others in that environment seemed too much like cheating, but Hans was all for it. He could even show Katherine visions of his past and he showed her visions of him with a lot of other people.

“Maybe I’m not quite the gentleman you think I am. I most definitely believe there is a lot more to a soul connection than blood play bites, but I come to blood houses for a reason. I’m not intimidated by you enjoying games of the flesh with other people’s fangs.”

“Oh, little one, you have no idea. I’m one of the primary blood players in all the world.”

With unexplained visions, Katherine Blakely always felt as though there was something missing in her life. It isn’t until meeting Hans Weyer when the pieces start to fall into place and Katherine must make crucial decisions.

“I’ll be loving you as I kill you,” he whispered and tugged my dress up and off.”

In starting this book, I had high expectations for a filthy vampire romance á la Jade, but this story felt off from the beginning. While I liked the concept of fated lovers, the connection between Katherine and Hans was lackluster. There was also a reference to Hans and certain proclivities, but that remained in the past to my dismay. Even though there were vampy elements I liked, overall, this one was a miss for me.

I wasn’t feeling this one. I get that blood ‘play’ is a special kink that won’t be for everyone and, I don’t know, perhaps if I could get over myself I’d find it erotic and sensual rather than it making me feel ick. And the chasing does nowt for me either. Not for me I’m afraid.

“Yet another reason we’re fated mates. I’m desperate to bite, you’re desperate to bleed.”

This story was so much more than the vampire erotica/blood play story I thought it would be. I came for the dirty hot vampire bite-me-while-you-f*ck me and ended up captivated by a tale of a soulmate love that transcended time.

“Perfect,” he told me, and I believed him. For once in my life, I believed I was worth something. The thought came hard and sharp. I hadn’t truly realised how little I thought of myself. “Oh, sweetheart,” Hans said, and pressed himself up behind me. “I can’t wait to show you what it really feels like to be loved.”

“One of the most important things you’ll ever learn, is that it’s more often the soul that has the answers. Listen with your soul and not your ears.”

So, who doesn't like vampire romance? And one that has quite a number of TW and CW that just scream: READ ME NOW!, sign me up right now!

Now I have mixed feelings about this book, I liked it but at the same I guess I was hoping for something else, and maybe not all my expectations were met, but I'll explain all of that below. (most probably this review will be more me ranting, so do get ready).

Now, the plot idea was great, but it looked like all of the vampire/witch cliches were put together and while it was done okay, it was still a tad bit chaotic. I honestly couldn't get around Hans, like do I like him, or do I hate him? He was annoying, and the way he was introducing Katherine to his world needed more finesse. You'd think after 700 years he'd have devised a good plan, but no, he was horrible at it, and that was pissing me off.

On the other hand, Katherine was no better. Her character was made with the whole obsession with Vampires, which later in the book is kind of understandable, but at the same time, because she had easily accepted the whole world, but then she sucked at asking questions or getting answers. Let's be honest, nowhere at the beginning of the book it was shown that she fancied Hans explicitly, so what just because he's a vampire she'll spread her legs and give him blood? What if it was a different vampire? Yes, the whole fated mates came into play, but still, I would have enjoyed more of her actually talking about her feelings and not jumping straight into his bed. The dude took over her life, and she was like: yup, totally let's live together, let me not have a job, while I have no clue about our relationship or where I stand in it.

Now, another thing was that I didn't understand the power system, and spoilers ahead:

Another thing I had a huge issue was Katherine's family and Hans once again being a total idiot on how to handle it. Her mam didn't deserve to become a good mother, and her grandma needed some good beating for all she had done to her!

And lastly, where's my explicit group scene with Katherine, Hans and someone else? Yes, it alluded to at the end of the book, but I wanted to "see" it as well!

So, if you are a fan of Jade West, you'll love the book, as it's something new, but if you're new to her books, maybe read another of her books first and this one, or definitely read her other books after you've read this one, because her writing is great (and I love it), just this time, I was a bit lost with the overload of information she was giving. Overall, a nice vampire book with a decent amount of plot and spice, so do give it a try!

I received an ARC for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This, for me, sadly wasn't as compelling as some of JW's prior books. *2.5 stars*

I liked the paranormal aspect of the story, but I felt like so much was happening, where not enough time was spent to make certain reveals work- which made a lot of the story feel a bit underwhelming.

The romance-to-story ratio didn't really work for me either- I felt like it lacked that usual emotional connection between the characters, that JW is usually so good at doing.

There were some nice moments in this one, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I would've hoped 🤷‍♀️.

Vampire Romance is not a genre I would normally read but when the author is Jade West then I’m prepared to give it a go. I love her style of writing and her unique take on a story. Blood Red Kiss didn’t disappoint with its perfect mix of intriguing characters, absolute filth and a huge dollop of mysticism, paganism and suspense. Hans is a perfect sexy as hades vampire and he could almost convert me to his cause. This is a must read for vampire lovers who like their blood play with an extra of downright dirty! Once again the Queen of Erotica triumphs. 5 Blood Red Kiss Stars from me.

Blood Red Kiss - Jade West.

*I received an ARC for my honest review*
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

      🔥🔥🔥🔥

This book is a Dark Paranormal Romance with alot of smut and acts that may make some readers uncomfortable- Please check trigger warnings before reading. Personally I don’t have any triggers and I enjoy dark, taboo, reads.

Young, innocent, virginal Katherine works at a bar. It just happens to be near Halloween when an average kind of attractive poser with fake fangs and a cape walks in.

“Max’s fangs were shitty white plastic, and fake blood dripping down his chin was almost as cringeworthy as the flimsy red satin cape around his shoulders.”

He really means nothing to the story, just that her watching this dude draws the attention of Hans and makes him ask the questions that will begin to seal her fate.

“Do you like vampires?”

After a long discussion with Katherine, Hans knows that she’s ready for him. Although, in my opinion Keanu beats Oldman, but everyone has their favorite dracula.

“It’s understandable to be distracted by vampires. I’ll forgive you this once, Katherine.” I may or may not have made an annotation that said*Someones about to get bent over a bar* but that didn’t happen.  haha looks like I am exactly like Katherine in getting distracted by which Dracula is better.

The smut in this book is so very hot. I would rate it a 4 🔥. Although what else would you expect from a 700 year old experienced vampire?

“ You were very good at it,” I said. He laughed. “You’d certainly hope so. If you weren’t a master after seven hundred years of practice, you’d be quite ashamed of yourself I think.”

After this, everything happens quickly. George, the trapdoor at the bottom of the lake in her mind, Margaret, the revelation about who she is, the blood house, group play, dirty bites🔥, Mary, Lillian, Thomas,

“One of the most important things you’ll ever learn, is that it’s more often the soul that has the answers. Listen with your soul and not your ears.”

The revelations of the past that come to light are so heartbreaking “ I swear to God, I’d have charged out into the sunlight a thousand times over and met my own doom to forego you yours, Katherine. “

Overall this book was a fun read that I devoured quickly.. *Note to self, Janie stop reading vampire smut on your lunch break.*

The only reason why I took away the ⭐ was because of the “Don’t ask the questions unless you want to know the answers.” phrases in there about almost everything she asked and I took away a 🔥 because I didn’t like the scenes with blood dripping from certain places. But that’s just me.

Spice: 🌶🌶🌶

I received an arc for my honest review.

I've just recently dipped my toes into some paranormal books but I've always been a fan of vampires from an early age so this storyline took my fancy.

The storyline took me a little while to get into (around the 48% mark), but once that seal was broken I did enjoy the plot of the story and there were a few unexpected twists in there that i just ate right up. I really really liked Hans, not going to lie I didn't really care for Katherine all that much at the start but she did end up being a great character as well and I ended up loving watching their love story happen as well. Lots of finding yourself and healing in this book, just beautiful.

This is a typical Jade West book and if you've never read anything from her before, its best to check her triggers and things beforehand as I know some of what is in this story could be triggering to some. But DO expect lots of spicy times and a truly lovely story. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this Arc.

I wish there was more story to this to be honest. I felt like there was a lot left unturned that the author could've touched on. If there's a sequel, I'm down for this as a 5 star book. The description was amazing because I feel like it's hard to describe the magical quality in a book, but Jade did amazing with that. The sex was intense and I loved the different aspects she added for vampires. I was SO HAPPY she added witches and wizards as well. Definitely a great book to escape reality. If a vampire is reading this, please come find me. I'm already ready for blood play and the dirty bite.

This was my first ARC and I thank you so much, Jade!

Katherine is a girl from a small town and she moves away from her mother and grandmother to go to London. We meet her in a bar where can't take her eyes off of a customer dressed as a vampire, but she manages to tear her eyes away when one of her regular customers comes in, Hans.

From the beginning of the book Hans had me captivated. Hans is an enigma that you can't wait to unravel and find his secrets. Katherine's character develops and grows so much through out the book.

I honestly was so excited when Jade announced she was writing a vampire book because I knew it would be Bloody hot (pun definitely intended). Ironically enough, I loved all of the scenes involving blood and I can handle gruesomely descriptive images, but when I was reading about someone eating bloody steak, it had me feeling queasy. (This is totally a me thing because I'm a vegetarian)

Please read this book and hold Katherine's hand as she has to suffer through PATIENCE of learning about all of the secrets of her past and watch her sexy present with Hans unfold. Don't think this book will be predictable, because Jade has included all kinds of turns for you.

If you absolutely love pain and blood play, this is the book for you. If you don't, it might be rough going. I enjoyed the overall story (especially the supernatural elements to it), but since I'm not a big fan of major pain during sex, I couldn't quite connect with these characters. A little pain is fine, but this story had too much for me personally. Still, I was interested in the story and the world, so I just accepted that this is what these characters loved, and it worked for them. I would happily read more in this world if those elements were toned down.

I was lucky enough to receive the ARC copy of this novel in exchange for a review!
Jade is my favourite contemporary author so when I discovered she was going to be exploring the paranormal with this novel, ill admit I was skeptical. But this novel exceeded all of my expectations ❤️ Vampire romance is definitely my favourite amongst the PNR genre and I don't read it often. Jade's take on modern day Vampires was amazing! I loved the relationship between Hans and Katherine. I didn't expect to be as shocked by the revelations of Katherine's past as I was and there was lots of truth bomb moments in this book! 🙀 Hans is hands down my favourite Vampire book Boyfriend now, god damn! The dirty bite sounds phenomenal 😏🤣 I'd highly advise anyone who enjoys PNR/Vampire smut, READ THIS!!! You will not be dissapointed. I've yet to find a Jade West novel I didn't enjoy yet! Jade you did an amazing job with your first paranormal romance! Please keep you're amazing talents coming 🙏❤️

Came for the spice; stayed for the plot!

All her life, Katherine dreamed of being a vampire, but vampires aren’t real - right? After meeting Hans, a mysterious gentleman who is a patron at the gentleman’s club she bartends at she starts seeing him in her dreams. She quickly discovers things about herself she didn’t think were possible, let alone real.

After reading Strangers in my Bed I was skeptical of Hans and his intentions with Katherine. Thankfully, I was wrong! Hans was a great MMC who takes care of Katherine through all her transitions and revelations.

Katherine also was a great character, she was strong and sure of herself.

I loved the storyline and the history between Katherine and Hans. Every page there was something else for Katherine to find out about.

This is Jade West we’re talking about so you know the spice was on point. Add in vampires and it’s even better!

Lots of dark steamy sex scenes. An 18 year old bartender has an invisible pull towards a compelling, handsome man who turns out to be a 700 year old vampire. Well written but I wasn't invested in the story as much as I could have been. I do enjoy Jade's books, so I'll be reading more.

So disturbing. He was controlling and manipulative, not at all romantic. We were watching her fall into an abuser's trap. He had been stalking her since she was born, I'm sure there was a reason behind it but NO too creepy and manipulative. DNF, didn't want to witness her manipulation.
He was not a sexy alpha male vampire. They listen to their women and treasure them, not control their ever move and their actions.

First, the hero shares her with other vampires. She likes being bitten so he lets his friends/former lovers feed on her. This upset me.

Second, he constantly refers to her as a little girl. She just turned 18 and he's around 700 years old so I found that creepy. He also knew her as a child, they used to meet in the cemetery of her church.

Also he kept referring to her as a "blood player" and being a new blood player, etc. I wanted her to be his special love, not just a person he feeds off of and shares with his buddies.

And there is not much wooing. "Do you like vampires?" "Oh yeah I've liked them since I was a child." Do you want me to bite you? Yes.

Eventually they go on dates and he fills her closet with clothes but I felt no connection between them at first.

After hero feeds on her she discovers she is a witch, and a psychic, and a ghost talker.

This book didn't work for me.
