Backward Fairy Tales #1

A Forest of Stolen Memories

Rate this book
I didn’t care that he was a prince—they would not force me to marry a stranger.

A royal wedding turns to disaster when a sinister curse goes awry. A victim of the Sorcerer’s prophecy, Roselyn’s memories are instantly erased, leaving her panicked at the altar. Unwilling to marry a stranger, she flees to the place her prince fears most—the enchanted Mistbrooke Forest. Lost and afraid, she seeks help from a dark, mysterious traveler who may be the key to recovering her stolen memories.

After years of solitude, Cedrick is lost in the horrors of his past. He never expected to find himself face to face with the future princess of Cadell. The longstanding feud between their kingdoms doesn’t douse the fiery connection he feels to her, so when she requests safe passage through the forest, he can’t ignore her plea—even though it puts both their lives at risk.

Rose is determined to regain her memories, but with Cedrick as her reluctant guide, she experiences the magic of the forest through new eyes. Does true love really exist? She is beginning to think it might—with Cedrick. But when her past collides with her present, sparks explode, and the very memories she’s been seeking are the ones she most wishes she could forget.

Can she break the curse without breaking her heart?

2 (?) stars ✨ Clean Fiction - Fairytale Retelling

Huh. Wow. Okay. That was intense. 😟 I don’t know what to think about this one. 😅

Was it smart to read two fairytale retellings that feature enchanted forests back to back? Probably not, but I did it anyway. Lesson Learned: If you want true love with an arrogant grump, go to a forest. (It should be noted that I will be staying away from forests from now on 😅)

This book opens with amnesia but magic/curse-induced amnesia. She had more questions than answers, and quite frankly, I was the same. She runs off from a wedding—her wedding to a prince, apparently—and finds a grumpy guy outside a magical forest who takes pity on her and brings her into said forest—okay, so she technically didn’t meet him in the forest, but outside of it. Close enough. They instantly have major attraction to the other and the romance was on a speed run, but she wants to know her past, much to Mystery Grumpy Boy’s dismay. And that’s about 30/40% at the beginning and all I can’t tell you much more without having spoilers.

When we first meet Mystery Grumpy Boy, I had the thought “he’s the male lead, I bet, but what if the other guy is better?”
Let me just say, no. *buggs bunny meme* The other guy—Mr. Obsessed Prince—is just that. Obsessed with Rose, to an incredibly insane, toxic, and unhealthy (two of those were synonyms, but the point still stands) way.

I just want to know how many read this book and thought “I can fix him” about Mr. Obsessed Prince. Because while I felt for him, Rose needed a restraining order stat. I will add that I was really disappointed about the ending involving him. I don’t think it could have gone another way, but I was still bummed it went that route because I’m always going to hope for redemption.

I would say because of Mr. Obsessed Prince this book definitely had a darker feel to it. Once we learned what a nutcase he is, he made Mystery Grumpy Boy look like a great option. Can’t blame Rose in that regard. That said, I didn’t really like him either for different reasons such as keeping secrets and all the heavy handed attraction between the two of them. This was definitely too much romance for my tastes as different parts with them felt sensual and had, ehem, noisy kisses, so I’m pretty sure I was beet red a couple of times. 😳

I might read the second book just because I’m curious to what will happen to that character, but I’m a little leery at the same time because this is now the second book I’ve rated two stars from this author because of the romance and MMCs.

Edit to add: After hearing the romance is *more* in the second book and seeing the page length, I decided not to fully read it and just search for the parts with Rose and see what happens in her/Cedrick’s future. I read probably around 80 pages and skipped around a lot. It didn’t make full sense, but I wasn’t expecting it to because of skipping around. There was a lot of “your mine” elements in the romance I saw of Rose’s sister and her mermaid plus his animal-like tendencies. Whenever a MMC is described as predatory (Cedrick was as well in this first book), I’m out. That’s not romantic—not even a little bit—to me and I don’t feel like I needed to read the second book at all. Definitely not my style or cup of tea.

Inspired by Alice in Wonderland & Rapunzel.

Main Content-
Magic heavy as there are people with magic abilities who are hunted down and killed (called Enchanters), curses being on others, spells being casted, and the Sorcerer who uses dark magic and is evil; Not every magic user is partnered with the Sorcerer or evil/dark magic and Cedrick says that “people can’t help the way they were created” and later Rose explains to someone else that it’s up to the person’s use of magic that makes them evil or not; The woods/forest has a wind that can speak to those with magic called “Ruah” and changes the path for those in it depending on where the forest decides that person needs to go; Cedrick and Rose both are able to think of a place they want to go and put their hands on a tree, and be taken to that place; Trees speak to them both & tell Rose that The Chosen’s time is coming to save them; Ruah says he is in the crystals and the breeze, hearing everything around him; Ruah tells Rose to trust her heart and it will lead her to want she seeks; Rush talks to Rose and calls her his child; Rush is said to be “the King of us all”; Rose feels tingles spread through her body, which is a telltale sign of magic; It’s said that the Sorcerer was in despair over the attack and murders of his people that he “called upon the dark magic” and cursed the royal family;

Rose tries to enter the forest but there is a magical barrier that prevents her until Cedrick helps her; Cedrick uses magic with a turn of his fingers to light candles, heal minor cuts, and can also create ropes of fire from his arms/hands; Some accuse Rose of being a witch, which Alex responds violently towards it *Spoiler* ; A magic crystal puts Rose in a trance and the pain of touching it makes her pass out; The Sorcerer is able to freeze a group of people in time for a moment; Meeting a ancient spirit wolf.

*Spoiler* .

Many mentions of all of those elements with the magic, curses, and spells as well; Mentions of mermaids/sirens.

Rose thinks about how Alex has “internal demons” that are chipping away at him and she thinks this a few times (*Major Spoiler* ); Someone vows for the seas to take her if she breaks a promise.

When kissing, Rose thinks that Cedrick saying her name is like a “prayer of thanks”; Cedrick later mumbles “words of prayer” to Rose.

No major language, minor phrases like ‘don’t screw up’ and an unfinished ‘what in the—?’ is said; Eye rolling & Sarcasm; Rose lies (to both guys; her lies to Alex are due to him being unstable and her trying to pacify him or act like she’s listening so he will be in a better mood or for her to escape); Rose looks at a lie from Cedrick as “insignificant” in a life-and-death moment.

Fires/Smoke, Being choked, Being shot at, Being tied-up/held hostage, Pain, Injuries, Blood/Bleeding, & Passing out (up to a few sentences); Seeing someone almost killed (knocked unconscious instead) & another burned alive (up to a couple sentences of the details, handful of sentences on the grief); Seeing someone struck by magical lightening (up to a couple sentences); Seeing someone attacked, shot at, in pain, hurt, & bleeding (up to a few sentences); Panic & Being unable to breathe; Being bullied by playful trees in the forest; Nightmares & Trauma over a scent; Grief & believing a loved one to be dead.

Alexander hurts Rose by grabbing her wrist and her hair in his desire to possess her, (more than a few times); *Spoilers* ; Because of his obsession with and dependence on Rose, she is tired of being Alex’s mental support and feels the pressure of keeping him happy for the sake of those in the kingdom as he will (and has) taken his anger out of them (including executing one and vanishing others, he tells Rose that they needed to hurt like he was (he also violently shakes a maid that upsets him in front of Rose); Alex tells Rose not to leave him, to help him and help him be better, adding that his father said nobody would love him (this also manipulates her feelings).

A discussion about a potion for a childless couple that will make her able to carry a baby (*Spoiler* ).

Mentions of wars/battles, fighting, deaths of a kingdom’s people including children being burned alive, & explosions; Mentions of deaths, possible deaths, & deaths by people being burned alive (including Cedrick for his family and friends as a young child *Spoiler* Alex’s mother was burned alive by his father due to rumors of her being a witch and he had to watch when he was young *End of Spoiler*); Mentions of being shot at, arrows, being hit/stabbed, pain, injuries, & blood/bleeding; Mentions of a kidnapping, kidnappers, & a ransom; Mentions of nightmares; Mentions of lies, lying, & liars; Mentions of hatred; A few mentions of a thief; A mention of drinks.

4 kisses lasting 5-9 sentences (1 unwanted and some with noises/moans/growls).

Wanting to kiss & mentions of it (up to a couple sentences); Quite a bit of staring at another’s lips & guys doing that to Rose.

Lots of Touches, Embraces/Cuddling/Nuzzling, Hand holding, Warmth/Heat, Nearness, Flutters, Smelling, & Noticing (including Rose sitting in Cedrick’s lap, up to a few sentences); There’s a decent amount of desire, longing, electricity, and certain seductive looks between Rose and Cedrick & they also feel a pull bringing them together (*Spoiler* ; Rose feels peace in Cedrick’s embrace; Alex gets majorly jealous if another man is around Rose; Rose tries to keep Alex from kissing or touching her, though he still tries to and succeed often; *Spoiler* .

Rose brings her knee up to slam between a man’s legs (Alex, who was acting too familiar with her; Cedrick finds humor in her kneeing the guy in the “crown jewels”); Rose & Cedrick share a bedroom together, but she sleeps on the floor and nothing happens; Rose panics and starts wildly kicking when she thinks that Cedrick might have to push on her bum to get her unstuck; Rose’s dress rips and it reveals more thigh that she preferred and tells Cedrick not to look or stare (in his bonus chapter, we learn he stares and is affected by seeing that much with desire); Rose asks Cedrick to untie her dress so she can get out of it (when he panics over another layer—her corset—she encourages him, but then thinks “am I actually encouraging him to take my clothes off?”); A man asks if Cedrick is “dallying with the king’s leftovers” & Cedrick tells him not to talk about her that way; Alex’s father prior called Rose Alex’s mistress & she was shocked and concerned if others thought of her like that; Someone says that Alex was grooming Rose for years to be queen.

It starts as the perfect fairytale: the prince, the dress, the wedding. But then everything goes terribly wrong. Rose stands at the altar without her memories and flees into the woods with the help of Cedrick to escape the prince willing to move heaven to get her back. But when her memories suddenly return, Rose is forced back to the castle, where she will battle Prince Alex as he attempts to control her. But happily ever after never happens without work, adventure, and a little bit of magic. Will Rose escape the prince? Or will this fairytale end as it was always meant to?

A Forest of Stolen Memories by Callie Thomas could have had it all. A unique heroine, a villain in love with the MC, romance, betrayal, and danger. Everything was hinted at rather well. But the execution was lacking. The plot was too obvious, following a single trajectory until the very end. Nothing happened that the reader couldn’t see coming a mile away, and most of Rose’s decisions were stupid at best. The magic system and worldbuilding were poorly explained: it was never clear why the people of the kingdom hated the woods. Sure, some justification was given, but the reasoning didn’t make any sense. I understand that the suspension of disbelief is necessary when reading a fantasy novel, but plot holes and poorly constructed worlds jolt the audience out of the story.

The characters themselves were lacking. Rose was every YA fantasy heroine ever. Her only unique characteristic was that she had red hair, and came from a peasant village. Additionally, her relationships were never explained: she had no reason to fall in love with either character. For his part, Cedrick was fine. Not good, not bad, just fine. Alex could have been a really interesting villain, but it was never quite clear if he was supposed to be the villain. Issues of domestic abuse are never clear-cut, but while all of his actions were horrible, Rose didn’t blame him throughout the narrative.

The side characters were even worse, changing personalities and emotions to fit the plot instead of the other way around. It was clear that the author went in with a plot in mind, tailoring her characters to fit the plot instead of letting events progress naturally. A lot of the dynamics felt forced for the sake of the narrative, and there was no motivation behind many of the characters’ actions.

That being said, the dialogue writing was decent. It was easy to read and felt like dynamic conversations. The transitions between chapters were also expertly crafted, and even though I didn’t necessarily enjoy the story, I was also compelled to finish it. Callie Thomas clearly has the skills necessary to become an amazing author, but A Forest of Stolen Memories just fell flat.

I really loved this story and was hooked from the very first page.

This book was fast paced and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. I guessed a few things that were coming, but there were still several surprises as the story progressed.

I love Cedric so much. 😍 The banter between him and Rose was so fun. It was a bit of an insta-love, which I normally don't like, but I couldn't help but love it with these two. 😆

I loved the magical elements in this world. I'm excited to find out what happens in the next book!

From the first page, I was pulled into the story. I wondered along with Rose what had happened to her memories. The story pulled me in and I had to keep reading until the end… and then I read it again to watch for hints now that I knew what happened. This book is one of the very few that I have re-read, and will read again. I highly recommend it, and I am already looking forward to reading the next book!.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Wow! So immersive!

This book is fascinating!
From the first chapter you're immersed into Rose's mind and immediately you're struggling right there with her as she has lost her memories. I love the way this wove into the discovery of everything about the two kingdoms.

Then we have the emotional turmoil in this book. Top knotch for keeping me on the edge of my seat and totally pulling my heart strings.

This book is fast paced which I loved as I constantly wanted to know more and figure everything out.

The romance 😍😍😍 sooo swoony! So many great swoony lines and I loved the imperfections in their relationship and the forgiveness. So good!

💋Just kisses- slightly descriptive Makeouts
⚠️Manipulative people, death, injuries, emotional distress for reader

A Backwards Fairytale

2.5 Stars ✨

“Fear is a manipulator, forcing us to act in ways that aren’t ourselves.”

It begins like a fairytale, a wedding, the gown, and the perfect Prince. But Rose doesn’t know who he is- or who she is for that matter. All she knows, is when he grasps for her hands, she doesn’t want any part of it. She runs from the altar into the forbidden woods. Nobody who gets in, comes out. As she makes it to the entrance, she’s helped by a curious stranger. When she enters the woods- her only plan is to remember.

A Forest of Stolen Memories was definitely a fairytale with a twist. In the beginning, it was true to its name- A backwards fairytale. Everything literally felt backwards and that was cool. I liked the characters, but they fell a little flat. The plot, while it started off with a bang- by the middle had me wondering what I was reading. I did not like Alex, his character was whiny and obviously way too obsessed with Rose. There were some things about the magic system that didn’t make sense to me and I started losing interest towards the end. I think the plot was way too predictable and it just made it fall short for me personally. I think some people will really like this one though, it does have good elements about it, but it wasn’t my favorite.

4.5 ⭐️

I had such a great time reading this book, finished it in 2 days, which is quite impressive for me physically reading a book nowadays. It had everything I have always loved in a book: romance, fairytale elements, a faithful animal companion, a unique premise but with nods to classic fairytales, etc.

Romance: now this had my kind of banter! I loved Cedrick and Rose together! I will say it was very insta-lovey; I think the romance could have taken a bit more time to develop. But it didn't bother me too much since it's pretty common in fairytales. There is passion in this book but it never goes past kisses (there is talk of desire, a few growls/groans with kisses). There were a few times the MCs slept in the same room/area alone together but absolutely nothing happened. I really appreciate that the author didn't take it any further than she did. I was fine with the level of intimacy but I could see how it might be a tad too much at times for those super sensitive to that kind of thing.

Plot: there were a few places that dragged a bit and some things that were convenient but overall I had a fun time!

Magic: there is magic in this book: a light magic, and a dark magic that is unnatural and shouldn't be used, curses (the FMC loosing her memory, a curse on a kingdom), potions to heal/help people (brief mentions), magic fire, etc. There is a being that could possibly be considered to have some allegorical elements, since the author is a Christian herself, but they aren't super strong.

I also loved the bird character!

Content: magic

Faith rating: 0/3 clean fiction with no cursing

Overall I enjoyed this book by Callie Thomas. It definitely starts off with a bang and caught my attention right away.

I loved the push, pull and dynamic between Cedrick and Rosalyn. I loved that they had a complicated relationship and that it wasn’t a simple journey to get their happily ever after.

I loved that Cedrick was protective of Rosalyn not only physically but also of her autonomy. I love that he supported her and would do anything for her.

I loved Rosalyn for how she was just trying to do her best with what life dealt her and tried to see the good in everyone.

Physical Intimacy Lvl 2.5 (Non descriptive kisses with some moans/growls)

Magnetic chemistry, playful banter, and captivating writing will hook you

Starting in the first episode of this fairy tale we’re plunged into the action of a confused bride losing her memories on her wedding day, jilting the prince at the altar, escaping into an enchanted forest and joining forces with a handsome but mysterious stranger. The story gains momentum with every chapter and I chuckled over the obstacles that Rose and Cedrick encountered. Humorous situations, magical quests, a heroine whose memories are slowly recovering add to the must-keep-reading experience. Their growing attachment begins to complicate her future and slowly reveal his secrets in an exciting conclusion.

From the first page, I was hooked!

This story was very reminiscent of other fairytales, yet unique in its own way. I loved the morally gray MMC and this was an amnesia trope done right. The forest setting was rich and magical and everything I'd want in an enchanted forest.

This was my first read by Callie and won't be my last! Her creativity truly shines in A Forest of Stolen Memories!

How can you look me in the eyes and say that it makes sense that EVERY character got a redemption arc. I’m glad there was growth but there was zero consequence to literally everyone’s actions.

I’m slowly discovering that I’m not a fast book paced girl. But even then I felt like any motivation wasn’t real. How can I believe people are in love when they didn’t have one meaningful conversation.

The bird however was great and I love him. I did like that is was a PG book. Very refreshing.

*****spoilers*****

The insta love was strong and again made zero sense. In the bonus chapter of Cedricks POV he thinks with in like 7 hours of knowing her existing he goes “ is this love?” NO ITS JUST YOU HAVENT SEEN A FEMALE IN LIKE A DECADE.

Also him not knowing her AT all is wild to me. I was like “Oh he loves her because they know each other.” WRONG he met her three hours pervious.

Don’t even get me started on the age gap. Like it’s not a big deal because he didn’t age but we acknowledge the sorcerer who said he was hundreds of years older then he looks because of the time difference. But no one ever says anything about how old Cedrick is. Like not even a line.

Quick side rant we know that his eyes are a grey blue but why is his eyes always being described as amber. Is it like when he is using his powers or what?

Someone tell me why Alex was my favorite character. Like my boy is flawed but at least he had depth to him. Even if he made decisions for the plot. But they also said “hey we need to resolve this guess he needs to die…” When she gets her memories back though I did like the story of her and Alex, I thought that was actually well fleshed out. Them being childhood besties yah I by it. And his slowly growing an unhealthy obsession with her. Yes believable. I wish it was explored more.

Also why was the climatic battle basically the same page length as Rowan telling her why she would make a good queen.

It is 2 am when I’m writing this so I’m far harsher and negative than normal but another thing is why is the last 15% of the book feel like one giant epilogue. Like I really thought the end of each page would be the last. Nope, I was wrong many times.

This was my first book by Callie Thomas and it won’t be my last! She’s officially gained a new fan girl 😆

Rose and Cedrick’s story was well thought out with twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat and especially toward the end unable to put the book down!

Fantasy is a newer genre for me but books like this one make me want to read more of them—especially the next one in this series that I already started!

If you enjoy fantasy with romance, I 10/10 recommend this book.

As I do with my other reviews I’ll share my ratings:

0 ✝️ (but some light allegorical elements)

a bit of a slow start but halfway through the story began to click for me! the rapunzel and alice in wonderland elements came together well in the second half. while the romance initially felt too rushed, i was more sold on it by the end. overall, a very fun indie pick for fantasy romance fans!

Once in a while I like to scroll through my wishlist to rediscover books I once added but have forgotten about. This is one of those books and when I read the blurb again I wondered why I hadn't ordered the book right away. Time to rectify that. I have to admit that the size, slightly bigger than the standard indie books, kept me from picking it up right away but last week I needed a book before bedtime and this seemed to be the perfect read.

I was very positively surprised while reading this book. Mostly because I had expected an easy to read and nice flowing book but it turned out to be more than that. Firstly because the writing style really fits the kind of story it's telling. It's flowery, but in the right way. It helps to paint the picture, especially when we're wandering through the magical forest and are experiencing little bits of magic and meet magical creatures.

I also loved the plot and the politics. The moment our heroine regains her memories and decides to return to the world she knows best we really get to see what kind of life she had actually been running from. Those chapters where she was reunited with her prince were really hard to read. You could feel that in his own way he did love our heroine he just had a very shitty way of dealing with his fear that something could happen to her.

And he wasn't the only interesting character. All the characters in this story were flawed. The prince more than others, although we'll never know if it was simply the curse combined with his upbringing or if there was more going on, but also Credrick is flawed. He made mistakes, he did things he regretted, he messed up. He just had a much better way of apologizing and making up for everything he has done.

This magical, political and surprisingly interesting read made me really curious to also read the next story set in this world!

At first, this book sounds really great. It sounds like a fantasy romance I’ll enjoy reading.
However, the execution is not what I expected.

Let’s talk about the good things first.
It started with a strong opening and I got interested with the plot immediately.
Fantasy romance lovers would have been interested with the elements in this book such as; the FMC lost her memories on her wedding day, villain in love with the FMC, a mysterious person in a magical woods, betrayal, and curses.

At first I really like Rose’s character, she makes an interesting heroine. but after she regain her memories I couldn’t understand her way of thinking and got annoyed with her poor decision making skill.

I really like the bickering and bantering between Cedrick and Rose in the beginning but their relationship progresses too fast. Just like any fairy tale stories, the love connection appears instant.
I wish there’s more time for their romance to grow slower so the chemistry between them won’t felt like they are being forced.

The pacing of the story is also too fast, it doesn’t give enough rooms for explorations and explanation about the world building and the magic system.

Overall, this book has a potential to be a great book with great writing style. I would have given this a higher rating if the pace is slower and some things are more developed.
Despite all of that, I keep on reading the book until the end to see how it ends.

Actual rating: 2.5⭐

I am in awe of this book. I couldn’t find it in me to put it down! I fell in love with it just as fast as Cedrick fell for Rose. The suspense, the romance, the excitement, I couldn’t handle it all. While Cedrick was without a doubt my favorite character, Rose’s personality and heart were outstanding. This book was filled with wonder, love and the perfect amount of magic. My heart reached out to every character. Throughout this book, I couldn’t stop giggling, my heart exploded a million times, and I felt with Rose through her journey. I finished this book in a span of two days, but it felt like years (in a good way). I never wanted the book to end. Can I just say that this author has one of the most creative minds ever?! Who else would have thought to write something like this?
One of my favorite chapters was Cedrick’s bonus chapter. It had me exploding with laughter and sympathy for him.
*‼️LOVE TRIANGLE ALERT‼️* AAAGHHHHH A LOVE TRIANGLE! there’s nothing a love more than a good old love triangle. They make books excitingly irritating and amazing lol at the same time.
I’d have to say that I absolutely despised every fiber of Alexander’s being, and was a little happy that he died. Now, don’t take that in a morbid way, I’m only saying that because Rose and Cedrick are better rulers over Cadell than Alex could ever be. To be completely honest, Alex kinda sucked, but he was an extremely crucial part to the book. I mean, every book has to have the one person that everybody hates, right…?
Anyways, to conclude this review, I wanted to say that I’m completely in love with this book and everything about it.

Tally ho,
Addy

This was my first book I finished on Kindle Vella. I was with this author from the start of things and I loved every minute of it. #TeamCedrick all the way. When Rose's memories fade away in the middle of her wedding ceremony, she panics and the world falls apart from there. Filled with magic, sweet kisses, and blissful prose, you won't want to miss a single second of this beautiful story. I loved watching her learn who she was and who she wanted to become. So many parts that were just gorgeous to read. I think always will be Cedrick's words though. "When the time comes, pick me." Fabulous. Highly recommend for lovers of sweet romance, swoony fellas with a backstory, and magical lands of fantasy.

A wonderful fantasy story that begins where many fairytales end, and then works it way around to explain how the characters have ended up in this position, as well as an exciting tale of what comes next. It was fun to follow Rose’s journey and her conflicting emotions as she finds herself in many unexpected situations. The author creates dynamic dialogue between the characters and makes the story really come alive.

Interesting take on what feels like a classically laid out fairy tale. It has the "villain" and the princess getting together and the prince not quite what he seems. I like how it is set up so we discover things along with Rose as the story moves along.

This was an amazing book!

Language : None. All clean. 😊

Sexual Content : Only holding hands and kissing. 😊One kissing scene got a little heavier than I would like but that is just my opinion and it was still clean.

The book starts off with a bang, I was interested from page one. Missing memories, runaway bride, magic, a grumpy forest guy, what more could you want? 😂😂

The villain was pretty good. I like a good redemptive villain but sometimes you just need a classic villain. 😂There was a scene that made me think of Beauty and the Beast when the beast yells at Belle and then tears the room apart. I did not expect what happened at the end, I was left in shock and that doesn't happen often enough. 😂

I feel like there was so many classic princess scenes. 😂
At one point the main girl is scrubbing the floor and she sees her reflection in the soap bubbles before popping it, like Cinderella 🫧🥿😂

She talks with animals and sings with birds, like Snow White.

Draws a sword and sees her reflection and a lot of people bow to her at the same time, like Mulan. 😂😂
Not sure if this was done on purpose but I thought it was fun.

The main characters had great chemistry! I was rooting for them the whole time. ❤️❤️I love that they don't need to be together constantly in order to have a good connection. I also love a good nickname. 😏

Over all this was a phenomenal book and I would totally read it again! I am really looking forward to reading the next book. 🧜🏻‍♀️

3.5⭐️ I’m in love with Cedrick.

This book started off fantastic, I was positive it was going to be a 5 star but…I didn’t like where the story line headed. I wish there was a second book about their relationship since it was just beginning UGH. This series had so much potential but nonetheless, I adored the characters so much. And the picture of them towards the end of the book was PERFECTION.

I enjoyed the story with some aspects, but I can say it is not quite for me. There were things felt too quick or not quite developed. But you might like this.
