I shouldn’t want him.

He’s a criminal. The VP of an outlaw biker gang and a very bad, bad man.

But when my little sister leaves home and takes up with her much older biker boyfriend, for some reason this stranger makes me an offer I can’t refuse. He says that he’ll watch over her, that he’ll keep her safe. And despite who he is, what he is, he tells me that I can trust him.

The problem? The man’s got a smile that could kill and the body of a god, and I can’t stop thinking about those green eyes and all those tattoos he keeps hidden under that leather jacket.

Trust him?

I'm not even sure I can trust myself.

Note to Readers: This book contains scenes that may depict, mention, or discuss death of a parent, attempted rape, sexual assault, underage sex (consensual, off page), suicide (off page), murder, drug addiction and drug use, drug trafficking, and drug overdose. This is an adult romance and includes graphic, descriptive sex, strong language, and scenes of violence that some audiences may find offensive.

Kelsey Elizabeth Wood a newly published independent Canadian author who writes steamy romance novels with smokin’ hot, dirty-talking book boyfriends and feisty female leads.

As a native to Northern Ontario, she’s snowed in six to eight months a year, and during these cold, treacherous times, you can usually find her sequestered in her office or at her kitchen table, coffee in hand, where she writes profusely about magic, post-apocalyptic wastelands, bad ass bikers with hearts of gold, and men in all shades of morally grey.

She lives with her husband and her two small parrots, who enjoy screaming profusely any time she sits down to write (her birds, not her husband), and when she’s not writing, you’ll typically find her lost in a book, or binge watching some mid-2000s procedural crime drama with an enemies-to-lovers subplot.

4 I Don't Scare Easy Stars ⭐

Good girls should not be dating bikers. And Triss Danforth should know better. As a responsible adult, not only is she the guardian to her teenage sister Kat, but she's also a lawyer. Except when her underage sister becomes involved with the Soldiers of Sin MC her rescue plan puts her right in the mix.

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

She may be an upstanding citizen but Triss knows how to bust balls. Having to grow up quickly she doesn't stand for anyone's crap. So you can imagine when the dangerous (and seriously naughty) VP Graves sets his sights on Triss, the fireworks are already erupting.

“Last night you said you were mine. I’ll admit I picked that moment on purpose. You’re much nicer to me after I’ve made your toes curl a couple times. But you’re mine, B. Can’t take it back now. You’re my woman, my old lady.”
She narrows her eyes. “I’m not sure I like being called old. Can’t you just call me your girlfriend?”

The relationship between Graves and Triss was complicated. Even though Triss was a hardass, Graves had a way of handling her bitchiness in the best possible way. It was more than hot sex. They were a great fit even though they brought out the crazy in each other. It was quite amusing in parts.

I really enjoy a good biker series and I think Bad Bad Man is the beginning of something great. This was the right balance of gritty MC politics and the romance between the main characters. Plus the backstory of the other bikers sets the mood of what will follow. And it's going to be wild!!

*4.5* I really enjoyed this one! I tend to avoid motorcycle club stories, because I hate the OTT violence and the way women are treated. This one was somewhat realistic, but without the obnoxious womanizing.

It’s the way he looks at me that always does me in. It’s heated and hungry. Filled with this wildness, this ferocity that makes my skin burn and my body fill with fire.

Intelligent and snarky lawyer fmc
VP of MC club mmc
Found family
Little sister drama
Texting/phone sex
Dirty talkin
No cheating
HEA

I was very impressed with the depth of story and heart that was written here. Triss (26) her younger sister, Kat (16) and Jack/Graves (30?) have painful backstories, but maybe that is what draws them together in one of the most awkward found families ever.

The intimate scenes and dialogue feel quite realistic. And can we just talk about that bathroom scene in the restaurant?!! I was slightly bothered that there was no discussion about condoms, or sexual health. Bikers have a reputation and Jack has been around the club a few times before he met Triss.

“Grind that pussy all over me, babe. I want you to make a mess all over my cock.”

Recommended for fans of MC clubs, found families, and a strong fmc. HEA with a beautiful epilogue a few years in the future.

5 STARS!!
I get off on it - that smart mouth, that attitude, that stormy temper and everything in between.
What a great read! So glad I took a chance here because I usually hate books that are set in an MC world. Here though, sharp dialogue and scorching heat has me adding it to my lists of favorites for 2024.

Jack is the Bad Bad Man in question and Triss is the very proper lawyer who takes no prisoners. One encounter and Jack starts to feel the pull.
I want her. I want her fire. I want to unleash all that wild I know she keeps locked away.
The contrast between Jack and Triss was so well done!
Jack and I don't fit, even though sometimes, when we're alone and I'm lying on his chest and his arms are around me, it feels like we could. Like our edges fit together. His wild, chrome-plated, whiskey laced puzzle piece to my controlled straight-edged one.
Their chemistry was palpable and their banter was clever and believable. I couldn't have been happier. The only thing that put me off was the lack of , but I'm letting it slide because the writing was so good. Good thing no one's holding me accountable. 😂

On to the next one! So excited to read about Axe.

I still don't know how I feel about this.
I liked the more straightforward writing and the less glamorised MC lifestyle. I felt grittier.
I just didn't love the characters fully. Both heroine and hero had their good and bad moments.
I also found the plot with the sister slightly .. uncomfortable. Regardless of any other factors, that was still a teenager who mostly hung out with men twice her age, not ok. Her OD and everything else was severely overlooked.

I do wanna read more in this series but not the next book. If I didn't have the perspective of this book and hadn't met the heroine here maybe it would have been easier to get into it, but as it is, I think I'll pass. I look forward to the book after that though, if there will be one.

Loved it!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: enemies to lovers

Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Absolutely love finding a new author. Great writing with a darker and gritty storyline. Characters who are relatable in all their imperfections - both the heroine and the hero. Super hot smexy and side characters that make you want all their stories. Can't wait to read the next one!

This was sooo so good until the stupid third act break up. I was so ready to give it five stars, but the H pissed me off breaking up with her like that after what she went through. And then when he says he fucked someone, he didn’t, to try to get her to leave, he say didn’t but he “tried”, what does that mean?????? That pissed me off bc this book was so close to perfect until the last 10%

Spice: 2/5
Plot: 4/5

First of all, I just want to say a huge congratulations to Kelsey for a very well written debut novel! I’m very impressed with the raw talent that I see and how well done this was.

Now we all know how pissy I get when a motorcycle club romance isn’t actually a proper MC. You all know what I mean by now - when the men are all pansy ass wannabes, and the women are weak little pushovers. I fuckin hate that shit. Thankfully, this book is NOT like that and I couldn’t be more relieved lol. This starts off with a fucking bang and our FMC, Triss, comes out absolutely swinging. This woman is a force to be reckoned with and I loved everything about her. Also, I hate most FMC’s, we know this, so this is a huge compliment lol. Our main man, Jack “Graves” McKenna, was exactly what you want your MC antihero to be. He’s dark, somewhat depraved, has absolutely no issue unaliving someone who hurts what’s his and he does the whole possessive thing so perfectly. The way these two clash but ultimately work was really well done.

The writing itself was extremely impressive for a debut. The dialogue wasn’t awkward or stilted and it flowed really well, especially the banter. Plus the way that Kelsey developed the characters personalities and relationships using that banter and dialogue was really on point. There were so many moments that I have highlighted where I was like, “Oh shit!” And some of the things this man says…y’all 😮‍💨

One of the things that I felt needed a little more work though was the lack of attention to detail in the really pivotal scenes. Two of them in particular, and I won’t say which two, felt really rushed and that we kind of missed a big opportunity to feel a lot more emotion than we were given. If things had just slowed down a little bit and we’d been given a more deep descriptive prose I think it would have been a lot more impactful. Thankfully that was really minor in comparison to how well everything else was done.

The only other issues I had were lack of research in regards to firearms and some repetitive word choices. Now, the firearms research isn’t gunna be an issue for a lot of people, but if you’re a gun person this is gunna drive you a little crazy. I swear, every time the word clip is used instead of mag or magazine (in any book) it gives me a fucking tick - ask Paisley how mental that makes me lmao. There were some other problems with the firearms stuff, but since most of you won’t even understand imma skip over that lol. Now, the repetitive words…I probably could’ve ignored it if it had been any word except for stab. And even stab in its typical context with a knife would’ve been acceptable, but um…he’s stabbing with his dick. A LOT lol. Couple other minor ick words - here’s looking at you “spunk” *gags* - and a few continuity and sentence structure issues that most people would never even notice. I however am a pain in the ass and my attention to detail is a real fuckin problem sometimes lol.

Overall though, I really fucking liked this book. I feel like I should mention that I have 184 highlights. Yea. I know. That’s a fucking lot. So when I say I liked her writing, I mean I really fucking liked it. This is how you want a MC romance to be. It was raw and dirty and fucked up and I absolutely think that anyone who appreciates this genre should read this book. And I’m immediately started book two after finishing this!

*ARC Read*
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I am going to *TRY* to keep this as spoiler free as possible because I do not want to rob anyone of those first-time reading "wtf?!" moments. I devoured this book in one day!

*Read your trigger warnings!* The author lays them out nice and neat in the beginning of the book and I did not find anything too graphic. But...what does not trigger me may be a major trigger for you so...just check them out first.

The story mainly focuses on our FMC, Triss, and MMC, Jack aka Graves.

Spice level: I am going to say 3.5-4 out of 5.

It does not feel gratuitous or forced, which I sometimes struggle with in other books. I like spice. Love spice. BUT sometimes it can feel like a scene is thrown in just to ramp up the one-handed reading experience. This didn't feel that way to me. Every interaction (of which there are still many) felt kind of organic. I think my favorite thing about this book is it feels, well, real. Are there some crazy scenes? Sure. It is an M.C. Romance after all. But the characters and their lives while exciting, still seem...relatable?

My one "complaint" that I had throughout the book was quickly put to rest when a glimpse at the next book pops up at the end.

The character development is there. And you find yourself really relating to Triss (or wanting to because Triss is no damsel in distress), rooting for Jack, and connecting with the other people in their lives. But that was my problem...I wanted more!

We are introduced to a lot of side characters within the Soldiers of Sin MC club. This idea of it really being a family is touched on throughout the story and I REALLY wanted to know more about them.

*Again REALLY trying not to include any spoilers here!*

There is backstory and history touched on with the MC club's "prez," Axe, and his willingness to protect others that I wish had been explored more (but again this story was for Triss and Jack) because well, Axe is kind of complicated. I want to understand him more because I could tell we were only scratching the surface in this book. When I saw that there will be another book covering this group, I was relieved! I was not ready to say goodbye to all of them just yet. And he is certainly not the only one! (Um, Preach is my favorite!)

Overall, super solid, fun read.

Once the book is live and more people have had a chance to read it, I may come back because I really want to talk more about my feelings about specific characters. I am rooting for them!

3.5 stars. This is a solid MC book. It wasn't amazing, I'll probably forget it soon, but it was mostly enjoyable. There are so many bad books in the genre, it's always a relief to find a decent one. Also, I'm a picky bitch, my "it was meh" is someone else's "it was great!" So if you like MC books, you may like this.

The hero and heroine were likable, the steam was good, there was a good balance of gritty club plot and character dynamics that didn't feel too OTT. Triss is a lawyer who is like 26. She's raising her teenage sister, who gets involved with a guy in the local MC. She has to go look for the sister at the clubhouse, where she meets the hero, Jack / Graves.

So it's kind of a typical MC book plot, "uptight corporate heroine who has no background in the MC world is judgy of the MC hero at first -- then, she gets involved with him." That's not a complaint, I don't mind a typical plot. If a book is really well done, the plot doesn't need to be unique. But, this felt like it was missing something to give it a bit more angst and emotional heft. It's not bad, the writing was fine, the relationship wasn't totally surface level. It just feels a bit generic. There was nothing especially stand-out about it (other than the fact that I've read too many MC books with bad writing and flat characters, so it was slightly above average).

The main stand-out thing about it is the scene when Jack interrupts Triss's date to have an interlude with her in the bathroom (I've seen scenes like that in other books, so it's not unique, but it's always good). And, I do like that it was said that Triss is a little mean, and that Jack likes his women a little mean. I've read so many "sweet / soft / timid" heroines who are Sunshine personalities and just meekly accept it when people treat them badly. I don't mind reading that type of heroine occasionally, but there are too many heroines like that. There was something refreshing about the fact that Jack liked that Triss is unapologetically a little mean (and, she really wasn't even that mean). Similar to Jack, I also like heroines who are a little mean in the right ways.

As far as MC books go, this wasn't nearly as good as the GOAT, Fearless and the other books in Lauren Gilley's Dartmoor series, it didn't even grab me as much as some of Giana Darling's Fallen Men books (even with as messy and inconsistent as that series can be). But it's better than some of the dreadful slop in the genre, like Charlotte McGinlay's books and whatever other poorly written MC stuff with flat characters and OTT antics that people are trying to peddle as "good" these days.

It was an enjoyable enough read, but not one that will linger with me. But, I'll stick around in this series -- although I know Triss's sister is the book 2 heroine, and she was such an unlikable brat, I have no interest in reading her book. So, I'll stick around in this series, but I'll skip the 2nd book.

This was my first book by this author, and I’m obsessed with the writing style. This is definitely a MC book id recommend giving a try. Jack the VP falls for a strait laced lawyer Triss. Triss is such a strong and feisty female main character and Jacks knows exactly how to handle her. Think Rip and Beth Dutton in a motorcycle club.
Jack is down so bad for her which we love. Lots of good spice but doesn’t overtake the plot. Running to book 2

Triss has become a need. I crave her. Every part of her—the smell of her skin and her hair in my face and her sweet little laugh. The eye rolls I know she throws me even though it’s too dark in that fuckin’ room for me to see. A couple weeks, and she’s become a fuckin’ habit. An addiction. One I never want to kick.

Bad Bad Man was a very enjoyable book from this new to me author. Triss is a young attorney who has taken on the responsibility of her younger sister Kat who is rebellious and hard to handle. Triss has no idea how to protect her sister so when she starts dating an older guy in the local MC, she is definitely not pleased. After an incident at the club with Kat's boyfriend Triss realizes that she has no control and that's when Jack (Graves) steps in and promises to keep an eye on Kat. I really liked Triss and Jack together, they had great chemistry, but I did find Triss judgmental at times.

“But we don’t deal in nevers and forevers.”

This book is good. A different take on the MC romance imo because it really focuses on the sister of a girl who has been pulled into the life.

B was an icon. She’s tough, and fiesty and a little bit broken.

“To be clear, I don’t think I’m actually capable of murder, but I’m sure I could plot it out well enough.” I see some of my own characteristics in her (RBF, for example, but I wish I was her.

ps. K.E.W. what’s up with “stab into”?? I can’t with that. 🫣

Okay wow!! Blown away that this was a debut. One thing about me…I absolutely eat up an MC romance when it is done right and this was!!

The MMC was so obsessed and down bad for the FMC from their first meeting. She could not be bothered with him which I loved but she soon realized she was not immune to his charm. Triss was a great FMC - I loved how she was her own person & had her own beliefs but we saw her growth over the span of the book. Their relationship and connection was explosive and I lived for their banter. The way Jack protected her & the connection he developed with her sister was so sweet. He also was not afraid to tell her how it was which I appreciated.

This hit my MC fix and I can’t wait to go into book 2! The 3rd act / resolution needed a lil more for me but generally speaking this was such a great book!! Highly recommend if you enjoy MC romance.

I am a sucker for an MC romance and when I saw a friend recommend this I decided to pick it up and so glad I did! I really enjoyed this. It was a great start to the series, introducing us to a range of characters making me intrigued by them and what’s going on beyond the main characters here. It was balanced well between the MC action and their politics then the romance between Jack and Triss.

⊹ he’s the VP in an MC, she’s a lawyer.
⊹ the good girl x bad boy vibes were perfect.
⊹ the way he calls her B.
⊹ their banter + verbal sparring was a highlight.
⊹ her feisty personality + the way she wasn’t afraid to stand up to him.
⊹ he is down SO bad for her + i loved it.
⊹ the chemistry + tension was amazing. these two were explosive together.
⊹ the character depth + growth was well done.
⊹ the dynamic banter between the MC men.
⊹ the way he kept her close by helping her sister + becoming a constant in their lives.
⊹ the suspense was well done + had me invested.
⊹ i struggled to like kat at times but very intrigued in book two after that sneak peek 👀

1⭐️. This started as a shit show, and ended as a shit show. I just didn’t see any chemistry between the FMC and the MMC. Their relationship seemed purely sexual. My main issue was with the fact that the FMC just let her little sister, who was 16, date a 19/20 year old?? Absolutely not. Ew ew ew. And THEN!!! Allow her to MARRY a much much older man who was a guardian figure in her life?? (I love a good age gap but this is a no.) Not to mention, she literally just let her sister live with a stranger. It’s like she was blinded by dick.
UGH why won’t my brain just let me dnf books I hated this.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it is a fantastic start to this series. Triss and "Graves" Jack meet when she goes to his clubhouse to track down her 16-year-old sister. Unfortunately, things don't go well when she finds her sister. Despite their first meeting being full of turmoil they eventually begin to get to know each other, which turns into a more intimate relationship. The book contains tons of turmoil both family related and MC related, there's action and violence surrounding the MC as well. Then there were some heart-breaking moments. The heat between Jack and Triss, is smoking hot, but there's a bump in the road between the two of them so there's a moment of wonder if they will make it together or not. I wasn't even finished reading the first book and wondered to myself when the next book would be coming out. This book had it all action, romance with heat, heartbreak, humor and a happily ever after.

I was hooked with this story from start to finish. It had loads of drama and action that definitely made me love Triss and Grave together. When Triss ends up at a biker bar looking for her sister, she gets more than she bargains for and goes head to head with Grave. The push and pull between them is so hot and drool worthy when Grave gets Triss so worked up. The fact that Triss is able to be a boss and not stand for any crap thrown her way is awesome, as she is passionate when it comes to protecting the people she cares about. It was also great getting to know a lot of the club men and their different personalities. I can't wait to see more of this series.

I have officially ruined this year, and it's only five days in. This book decided to break my heart and make me ugly cry!
Bad Bad Man is currently the first book I've read from Kelsey Wood--and let me tell you something! I am utterly impressed with this story! The spice in this is perfection!

Can we talk about Jack McKenna for a solid minute? Oh jeez! This sexy, rugged man is everything and more. He's dark and edgy, and let me talk about how he gets what he wants!
The story follows Triss and Kate, who were dealt a shitty hand in their so-called life. That's when the ball starts to fall, and Kat gets mixed with an MC gang, which leads Triss, a badass QUEEN, to fight for her sister.

Let's throw in some dramatic situations, a fierce lust between Triss and Jack(the bathroom scene OMG) and the unfortunate darkness of the MC - you're surely going to love this book!

Good luck with the rest of the year— I'm a goner.
