‘It’s like Jack Reacher got trapped inside an episode of Scooby-Doo!’

Investigate a murderous ghost, do battle with a shapeshifting demon, get ready for a date … it’s all in a day’s work for Sacramento’s only paranormal detective.

The ghost of a man’s wife come to avenge her untimely death, a woman caught on camera stealing drugs from work when she wasn’t even in town, and a family with a secret no one can ever know.

When August Watson takes on all three cases at the same time, it’s not because he is short of work, but due to the worrying connection between them – they all point to impossible doubles.

Is there a shapeshifting doppelganger at work? It seems like the only explanation for the craziness ensuing, but as he gets closer to the truth, the long-hidden lies he disturbs come with a price.

His own life.

In a race to stop more deaths, August Watson will risk it all.

If only work was his biggest worry.

Great read!

Doppelganger Danger-Blue Moon Sacramento-Book 2 by Alex Gates & Steve Higgs

This story, which is set in Sacramento, is a wonderful extension of the Blue Moon Investigations series which takes place in Britain. August Watson has had some bad things happen in his life, but now he is working on seeking answers and rebuilding his life. He left his job with the police department and has started his own business—Blue Moon Investigation Agency.
His agency specifically works on cases with a paranormal aspect. In this story, August has 3 cases to solve—a ghost, a doppelgänger, and a changeling. Does he solve them? Things are definitely not what he expected. Read this book and find out if/how August closes these cases.
And just who is Daniel Quinn? How is he involved? What is he up to?
This is a great read!

This book follows on from Voodoo Blues. August Watson and his paranormal bureau set out to solve three paranormal cases.

A ghost of a man's wife says she is going to kill him.
A woman caught on video having sex with her therapist and stealing drugs from her work. She declares she is innocent and for some reason August believes her.
A woman who is afraid for her life because someone claims she is a changeling.

August and co set off to solve all three cases and August finds himself in danger.

I enjoyed this book and am intending to read the next one. This book is full of humour, fun, horror, murder, romance and held my interest. I loved it.

5 big stars and an oops on my review of book 1

I have been reading Steve Higgs books nonstop since discovering the Patricia series. I got hooked completely again by the original Blue Moon series. I also read a couple of the off shoot series and then this one. I was mistaken in my book one review when I said I gave book 1 4 stars… because I was actually reviewing book 1. The reason I goofed was it sort of felt like 2 books. I was not real fond of August in the first half of the book but as the character developed he became 5 stars, as did the rest of the characters.
Book 2 is also a full 5 stars. Plot, characters, timing, all awesome! This feels so Blue Moon!!

Again, a good story. In fact, I think even a little more intriguing than the last one. But again, the narrator SUCKS!!!! Daniel Quinn should have been a creepy character that was offputting because of the kind of questions you asked, and you should be suspicious of him, but the voice made him into such a creepy grossly that you couldn’t figure out how anyone would ever tell him anything. I don’t think this narrator has ever spoken into another human being or heard a human voice in his life. He is terrible! It’s literally changing the story. He’s so horrible that it actually ruins the story because you can’t stand the characters.

Something doesn’t add up ,what’s up in this town there’s a doppelgänger or something because a person can’t be in two places at once…It’s spooky and when a deceased wife comes to give you strife ,you know you have woes.August takes on these case that seem to interconnect and he can’t quite put his finger on it yet but he will . Such is his will and his new skill for this work . Blue Moon Sacramento is here to stay with August Watson and his assistant kicking ass and showing pizazz! Great writing ,loved every minute . Well it’s by .alex Gates and Steve Higgs innit?

Even better than book 1

A modern Scooby doo Type of novel. This book has the right blend of characters, story lines, seriousness and at times silliness offsetting tragedies. it reminds me of characters like Fletch and Leo Waterman and countless others. A fast paced mystery that kept me hooked and I an looking forward to the next installment. I never would have expected the tragic mysteries encountered while debunking paranormal phenomenon.

Doppelganger Danger: Blue Moon Investigations Sacramento

This story was more people focused than the last couple and I was ready for the awful pain that most of the people had suffered or made others suffer.
Usually I can't put up with the horror and just skim those pages, but this time
I felt like this was a learning experience.
Amazing that August was so smart and could figure out so much, but he was still shot and stabbed.
Ending with another date with Cambria!

A really good read

If you haven't ever read a Steve Highs or Alex Gates book you are in for a treat. Their books check all the boxes.
In this one, a continuation of a series, our hero August, ends up figuring out a complex web of crazy. The overall theme is a man that both does not believe in the paranormal but wishes he could prove it real.

Almost put off reading this, once again, because I'm hooked on Tempest. What a surprise! I can see I will love all the Blue Moon locations. They just continue to be more intriguing & surprising. This book was great. So much going on with a Doppleganger, a Changeling, and a Ghost. Like reading 3 separate stories intertwined into one big one. You won't be disappointed.

Doppelganger Danger

What a wonderful story! I absolutely love, love, love this story!! It's really hard to think about how much crime and other bad things go down around us every day! I wouldn't actually want to meet up with the dangers these sleuths see all the time! I also can't wait to begin the next story in this series!!

Intricate, interesting twists

I especially liked this Steve Higgs book. Complicated plot, deep characters, unexpected development of characters. Liked Higgs succinct, inferential descriptions of sex scenes. Not belaboured .

Unexpected pleasure!

Wasn't too sure how well a shoot off from the Blue Moon series would fare against the original, but I'm hooked!!! Just enough twists and turns keep the pages turning! Ready to see where these relatable and very interesting characters take us next!

Twistingly good book

More balls in the air than prudent. August is chasing after 3 cases of women needing solutions and a man being haunted. After getting shot, he solved them all.
