Levi Johnson: Mountain Man Scout: Rusty Steel: A Mountain Man Adventure

Rate this book
The latest adventure in a brand new Mountain Man series from Ash Lingam!

When Levi Beaver Johnson and Capt. Bill Forrester met Rusty Steel and his five friends at the Rendezvous, they never imagined what would follow. From that moment on, their lives would change as they joined a group of experienced mountain men headed for the Western Rocky Mountains.

Rusty Steel hadn’t always been a man of the wilderness. He was raised on the docks of St. Louis and stole to survive. When he was apprehended by a swift captain and nearly drowned, he was given a second chance in life with a job and a place to sleep.

Three log cabins circled by a wood-post zigzag fence stand in the middle of the Western Rockies. This is where Mountain Man Dennis, Angus McFarlin, and their friends had spent the last decades of their lives. They were the epitome of trappers, hunters, and survivors in the wilderness.

Would Levi Johnson and Capt. Forrester be able to master their skills and survive as these men had, or would they perish like many others who had tried and failed?

Ash Lingam was born and raised in Southern Ohio, not far from the mighty Ohio River. He had somewhat of an isolated upbringing on a family farm with his sisters. His best friends were his horse, Sugar, and his grandfather.
Born in 1886, the family patriarch grew crops, raised cattle, and doted on the young boy. At his grandfather’s side, Ash learned about livestock and firearms at an early age. His grandad carried an old Colt with him at all times, helping spawn a young boy’s dreams of yesteryear.
Ash was only eight years old when his grandad taught him how to trap muskrats to prevent them from draining the farm’s ponds. He gave him a double-barreled shotgun at twelve and taught him how to hunt to put food on the table.
It wasn’t long before Ash was breaking horses. His spirited Tennessee Walker never allowed any other rider on her back. Together, they searched through the plowed fields in the spring, looking for Miami Indian arrowheads to add to his grandfather’s ample collection.
Ash’s family was among the early settlers in pre-Revolutionary America. He has traced his lineage back to around 1746 when his ancestors immigrated from Europe to the aspiring American Colonies.
A retired marketing executive, Ash devotes his spare time to training police dogs and writing novels. He has found his niche in the Western, historical fiction, and adventure genres. With his vast vault of experience, he never runs out of sources for new stories. He has lived in eleven different countries and worked in a total of forty-six,
To date, Ash has written approximately 130 novels, short stories, and poems. More than one hundred of his eclectic titles help the American frontier come alive for his readers.

The Legend Of Rusty Steel

This was a very well written mountain man story! It was about a boy who grew up as an orphan on the docks of the Missouri river to his eventual manhood as a riverboat captain and his eventual acceptance as a Rocky Mountain mountain man. Lots of action, and well worth reading. I would highly recommend it!

A change of direction

Levi and the Captain left to go on a expedition to map out the wilderness. They came across Indians attacking a wagon train killing everyone. The men on the expedition ended up killing all the Indians. That was only half of tribe. Read the rest of this exciting story.

Mountain or not?

Cap, tho unfamiliar w/ the wilderness, surely is being taught that life can be unforgiving, and we all must learn from our mistakes! Wilderness will make or break you, be strong, going forever forward! He has the makings of a traditional mountain man!
