Another fantastic addition to this series! Kaden leaves the crew and goes off on his own, and Astrid is trying to figure out her powers. So many twists and turns in this book, and I could not put it down. I am super excited for the next book!

Kaden has upped and left, he is going after his nemesis, the slayer known as Nico and he is going on his own. The slayer and his allegiant team, Maya and Jud are ruthless and out to break the dragon-kin and end them once for ever. They are not a group Kaden can tackle on his own. In the meantime Astrid is looking for Kaden, also looking for answers as to the voices she is hearing in her head, also trying to learn how to control her own dragon form. Kaden is tormented and broken by his past experiences, he trusts no one especially those who get close to his heart like his old mentor and Astrid who he knows he is falling in love with. Both Kaden and Astrid come from a troubled home background and have been abused and let down by those who were meant to protect them. Astrid looks for answers from a dangerous source, Brian, a crazy scientist who works for Nico, the slayer. Whilst Holly, her best friend gets bonded with an ancient oracle and this too leads to danger. Things escalate when they all realise what the slayers have in mind and things reach a peak at a massive battle inside the mine within the mountain. I really enjoyed the tension building in the book leading up to the massive breath taking battle, I love the characters of Zaria and Randy as well as that of poor Isaac who has suffered so much at the hands of the evil Brian and Nico. I am desperate to read the next book in this very thrilling series.

Kaden is torn - this indomitable, fearless, lone, magnetic, laconic, cavalier dragon is lost, and not truly to the world but to himself. He keeps always running, not towards something but from his own fears and truths, heavily shadowed in the self-inflicted black smoke of his childhood trauma. He is afraid to hope, to dream and to let himself be loved, always fighting against his imagined faults, his nightmares and his redemption.
This war with himself strips him to the bone of his armour - his magic and his fighting prowess, which leaves him powerless, vulnerable and tormented at the whim of his enemies. And as every one of his opponents almost kill him one after another, it is every one of his friends who brings him back from the brink time and again.

Very good penmanship will take you to the othe side of this struggle through incredible adventures, so go on and embark on this leg of the dragon's journey, you'll be hooked.

I’d read the first book in this series and loved it so when the next three were out, I had to pick them up to binge read them ASAP. I adore Astrid and Kaden, watching them both come through things in their own different way and seeing where their journey takes them. Fletcher has a way of building a world that has you hooked from the first page and leaves you desperate for more. This book was no exception to his usual skill, and I breezed through it in a day, not wanting to stop because every page is begging to be turned. Overall an amazing read, and one that I recommend!

Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.

Received as an ARC, I am leaving my honest review. Kaden is missing, on a personal quest. What happens when he is found starts an epic journey of the dangerous pursuit of Nico to stop his evil plans. Gripping action, heart pounding scenarios, unexpected happenings and epic battles will catch your attention from the first page and hold it til the end, or should I say the beginning plot for the next quest. I can’t wait to read what happens!

I enjoyed reading this. Having read the first book in the series in 2022, I was very eager to see how the story continues. This book shows so much character development and a great plot - very difficult for a sequel novel. I can't wait to read book 3 now
