Band 11 der Buchreihe hat mir gut gefallen. Diesmal geht es um einen Mann, der in einer stürmischen Nacht aufs Meer hinaus segelt und nicht zurückkehrt. Er wollte zu einem geheimnisvollen Wrack.
Harry und Kat nehmen auf Wunsch des Vaters des Verschollenen die Ermittlungen auf. Was ist wirklich passiert?
Geheimnisvoll, spannend und atmosphärisch. Ich mag diese Cosy-Crime-Reihe!

I really enjoy this series! The mutual love, respect and fun banter the couple Harry and Kat engage in throughout the book, makes for the brilliant chemistry of the story and always a great,mystery to solve.

It would be too easy to reveal too much, but let’s just say that Ewan Mckay’s death isn’t the only shady thing going on on the waterfront. Yet another great entry in this engaging historical cozy series.

Thank goodness Kat and Harry have returned from New York and are now happily ensconced in their quiet village of Mydworth. Of course, nothing stays quiet too long with Kat and Harry, and that proves to be the case as they are attending a children’s charity function. A distraught villager approaches them about his missing son, Ewan, who is presumed dead. Ewan’s small boat was found capsized after a particularly nasty storm had rolled through. But Ewan was an excellent sailor – and no body has been found. All Ewan’s father wants is answers; Is Ewan Dead? Why would he have gone out in his boat during such a storm?

Kat and Harry go from nobody having any information to share to having half the village share various somewhat conflicting bits of information. The one thing that everybody agrees upon though – Ewan is a really good person, intelligent, and level-headed. Kat and Harry end up with lots of suspects, lots of motives, and no proof of anything. How will they narrow it down to the real culprit? Well, it comes with some very unexpected revelations that change the course of their investigation.

I absolutely love Kat and Harry with their wit and humor that is reminiscent of Nick and Nora Charles from the Thin Man movies. They differ from Nick and Nora in that Harry isn’t constantly trying to keep Kat out of the investigations – Kat is a full and equal partner. Of course, being newlywed adds to the fun as well.

I am totally addicted to this series and can hardly wait from one book to the next. They are always quick and enjoyable reads.

When a sailor dies in suspicious circumstances, his family want an investigation. The police look. A sailor died at sea on a bad night. Nothing suspicious about those circumstances. Oh but there was. He would never go out on a night light that. And something about a knot.

Naturally, no set of circumstances is too seemingly plausible that Harry and Kat Mortimer are not willing to poke about a bit more, see what sort of hornet's nest they can stir up and then run away gleefully, sometimes waving a gun. This is no different. Renovating a yacht is long and boring work, why not spice it up by prying into the death of sailor they know nothing about?

Always a delightful story

Number 11, Fools Gold, is yet another winner in this delightful series. Well written, without a lot of superfluous language. These are rather shortish books that do not take a long time to read. There is not a huge amount of introspection or angst that can sometimes get in the way of the story. The characters are well drawn. Definitely a must read for a lover of the 1920's British cozy.

Lord Harry and Lady Cat are back in England living in the dowager house when a local lad that everyone appreciates goes missing. The two decide to speak to the parents and are given permission to look into his disappearance. Cat and Harry head out separately to interview possible witnesses. They return to pull together possible scenarios and decide to concentrate on the waterfront. Short quick cozy.

Good reading!

Have always enjoyed Matthew Costello and Neil Richards books. Enjoy their stories and their main characters. The Mydworth Mysteries is their second series in what I would call cozy mysteries and are a very enjoyable short read.

Fast read

It's early summer, fabulous parties to attend and then murder raises its ugly head. Kat and Harry are asked to look into the death of a young man. Did he drown or was it murder? This fast pace story is teaming with suspects, good luck in figuring it out.

Not as exiting as some of the others. I had worked out the ring leader about halfway through. The story line with spousal abuse needed more details considering the time and place.
Still a good fast read.

3.5 stars. These books would be so much better if they added like ~100 pages. The pacing usually feels off at least one and the ending often comes so abruptly. Especially annoying because the small town vibes are really good!

Smuggling, Abuse, and a Missing Man

Kat and Sir Harry are asked a village couple to find out what really happened to their missing son. They find that he had more than few people angry with him. So they start digging and find much more than they expected.

A small dinghy belonging to Ewan MacKay is found capsized but there is no sign of the young fisherman. His father asks Sir Harry Mortimer and his wife Kat to investigate. The book is a fun, light read but, unfortunately, the plot requires Harry and Kat to be slightly stupid.

There was an interesting twist in this episode so I was a little surprised at the end. These stories are engaging and I love the characters. They have really grown on me as the series progresses. It is like revisiting old friends each time I start a new episode.
