an a secret miracle give this wounded veteran a second chance at love?
Chris Bell’s world was shattered when the woman he loved suddenly left him. Now a serious injury is cutting his military career short, and sending him home to Trinity Falls years before he expected. Determined to build a life for himself and his service dog in the small town where he grew up, the last person Chris expects to see is Grace Cassidy.
Grace has always had a crush on her cousin’s achingly gorgeous best friend. Two years ago, he made her dreams come true when he let her know he had feelings for her, too. Though he was about return to the military, he gave her an unforgettable whirlwind romance.
He also gave her the greatest miracle she could imagine - one the doctors told her might never happen.
The only problem? Chris absolutely, positively doesn’t want children.
Two years have passed since Grace did the only thing she could think of, and ran with her secret miracle. Now, an unexpected Christmas blizzard leaves the three of them snowed in together at a romantic Bed & Breakfast on Trinity Falls Lake. Will the wounded hero and the love of his life grab the second chance at the romance they’ve both been longing for, and the family baby Izzy deserves?
Trinity Falls Sweet Romance is all about finding family – one clean & wholesome romance at a time. From a widower discovering he has feelings for his kids’ nanny, to a soldier learning about a secret baby, to a single dad falling in love with his child’s preschool teacher, you’ll lose yourself in these feel-good books celebrating love, family, and the very special small-town community of Trinity Falls.
This whole thing could have been done had they just talked. I got bored about 50% of the way. And so annoyed that Grace kept running away. She also ran and hid a child from her father because she wasn’t woman enough to have an adult conversation! I can understand Chris a little bit more. He had a huge adjustment to make. His reasons for not sharing were a little weak. But it pales in comparison to Grave and her running away.
The ending was just awful. It was way too cheery and not convincing at all.
Grace and Chris. Chris is home for good from the military. He is bitter, lost and angry as he has to retire from service due to hearing loss.. Also, he was not looking forward to seeing Grace the woman he loved any time since she ran out on him. Grace is moving to town for good with her daughter to i start a new life. She spent many seasons here as a child, but she did not want to run into the one boy she loved and had a daughter with, Chris. She never told Chris. So, when she runs into him home on leave, she tries everything to avoid him. He always said he did not want kids. What would happen if she had to face him. Then they get snowed in together at the Inn. Old miscommunications are revealed.
Oops she did it again! Love the characters in Trinity Falls. Another sweet small town romance with an absolutely adorable toddler Izzy. The past catches up to Grace when she returns to Trinity Falls with her baby. Small town, small world and the last person she wants to see is also home on leave. Chris is hiding to many truths about his life and now the woman he gave his heart to is also in town, but for good she says. So nice to read clean romance and it’s a novella, so a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Plus Molly the dog will make you smile. #SoldiersSecretBaby #TrinityFalls
Chris & Grace find each other in the same inn at Christmas. They once were in love and then grace was gone without a word. They each have secrets that need to be shared. Izzy? Molly? Will they be able to find the courage to tell each other what’s really going on.
Grace thought she couldn't have a baby so Chris told her that he didn't want kids to make her feel better. 2 years later they meet up again, Grace with baby in tow. Grace believes Chris won't want to be a father to her baby.
I was so glad I was able to immediately return to Clara Pines Trinity Falls series. Having finished book 1 of the series which I found to be a great start to my Christmas season, my Kindle Unlimited subscription made it very easy to return the first book and grab the second, Soldier's Secret Baby.
The secret baby trope is an oldie but goodie storyline in second chance romance novels but I think Clara Pines adds her own special brand of creativity to really make this novel twinkle. Again this whole series has that Hallmark movie quality to it. As a Hallmark movie fanatic, I find this romance to be filled with those same feel good emotions that draw me to Hallmark movies. Let me add, as my husband is reading this as I write, that as a woman of a "certain age", I am well aware that the real world does not always work like a romance novel. But I read fiction to escape from the grim reality that sometimes brings me down. If I wanted a look at the real world, I watch the news or read non-fiction. Every now and then I need to be reminded that there are still miracles happening in this world. Clara Pines Soldier's Secret Baby reminds me that love and open communication is the secret to relationships longevity.
Getting off my soapbox, let me point out some other perfect elements in this particular story. Clara includes in this story two topics I think are very relative today. With incredible sensitivity and amazingly accurate information, Clara Pines tackles the subject of wounded warriors and support for their return home. Including this issue in her hero's story is that special touch Clara Pines adds to the tried and true story of second chance romance. We retired army nurses do like stories about wounded soldiers. Add a support dog to the mix and I am a fan for life!
But Clara Pines didn't stop with a wounded warrior, her heroine also has a relatable condition she must learn to cope with, PCOS, polycystic ovary syndrome. Again Clara demonstrates incredible understanding of the pain and suffering women with this condition cope with on a daily basis. The way Grace, the heroine, manages this and raising a toddler without family and a partner support is an inspiring story all on its own. Clara Pines mastery of words, brings this strong female character alive.
Reading this book is like being magically transported to the town of Trinity Falls. You become part of the town, a silent observer, into the lives of all the people that live there. I hate snow and being caught in a blizzard, would be miserable for me. I more than felt that misery as I read, I lived it, as I read. Yet, at the same time, I felt safe and surrounded with love and the simple joy that Grace and her baby Izzy experienced being snowed in at a B&B with the rag-tag group of guests. I was filled with a longing for that kind of warm, fuzzy feelings, with my own family. I almost wished I could rent a cabin for the holidays with all our extended family and maybe, heaven forbid, be snowed in so we would be forced to make our own special Christmas without the usual hustle and bustle!
Soldier's Secret Baby by Clara Pines is one of the best feel good fiction I have read this season. So gather your loved ones close, light that fire in that old fireplace and settle in and read this very entertaining second chance romance. See if it feels you with all the love and joy it did me. I guarantee you won't regret It!
I read The Soldier's Secret Baby, the second book in the Trinity Falls series by Clara Pines through the Kindle Unlimited program. Chris and Grace story is one that really touched my heart. My heart went out to Chris as he learned to cope with his new hearing loss and the lose of his career that he loved so much. Grace is doing her best to raise her daughter Issy by herself. Because of Chris trying to protect Grace and Grace trying to protect Issy...there is miscommunication between the two of them. Can they learn to trust each other and find their way back to each other? This story touched me because like Chris, I am severely hearing impaired. So, my heart went out to him learning to deal with this. It not easy. This book hit all the right notes and touched the feeling! Another excellent book by this author! I can not wait to visit Trinity Falls again. Well done Clara Pines! We'll done!
I read Clara's first book and loved it, then I picked this one up and started and loved it even more.
Chris and Shane were best friends forever, Chris's sister Natalie followed them around all the time but Shane's cousin Grace hung out with them too. What everyone did not know was that Grace and Chris really really liked each other.
One night they decided to go out and ended up staying home watching movies because she wasn't feeling well. Chris and Grace had a talk about her medical condition on then Chris mentioned he didn't want kids. Then Grace takes off and leaves him and he wasn't sure why. Now they are reunited when they both come back to Trinity Falls. Will he find out why she left, and will they be able to have a second chance
Check out the story and I think you will like it. I know I enjoyed this book. Was sad to see it end.
OH WOW, when Ms. Pines says her books are sweet romance, let me tell you they are so much more. Simply Delightful just doesn’t seem like enough. Soldier’s Secret Baby will melt your heart, having you smiling from ear to ear and reading every Holiday season for years to come (at least I know I will). It’s a story of starting life over, 2nd chances, the value of family, friends (both new and old) and of course romance. You can’t ask for much more and Ms. Pines delivers it all with storyline and characters that are believable and true to life.
I Highly Recommend grabbing this story up (along with book1 of the series, Cowboy’s Christmas Nanny, if you haven’t read it). You don’t have to read it first; but both are so swoon worthy that I would suggest you do so.
Izzy can't say her L's so she can't say Molly or ball, but she can say silly and pillow? She can say breakfast and horse but she can't sing You Are My Sunshine? I've never met a toddler that says "dog"...they're all "doggies".
Hearing loss is not a disability that most people would have problems sharing about, and the level of hearing loss that Chris has would not require a service dog.
The ending was pretty predictable, one that I saw coming before I was halfway through. I was so looking forward to reading this book based on the description, but I'm pretty disappointed.
I really liked Grace and Chris's story. The part about Grace having PCOS was a great part of the storyline. Addressing what some women have to struggle with was a touching bonus. This story was a testament of how having good communication in a relationship is a must. My only down thought was the amount of pages of Chris reliving their last conversation was a lot, taking away what could have been more.... I don't know? In all honesty I didn't feel that a poorer rating would change anything because it WAS a good book and I am looking forward to reading more.
Fast pace and sweet book about two people, Grace and Chris, who love each other but have a communication problem. Grace has been told she can’t have children but a miracle happens and she learns she is pregnant after a whirlwind romance. She ghosted Chris because she believes he doesn’t want children. Two years after the fact they meet again when she returns to Trinity Falls to live. They both have secrets. Will they be able to find it in their hearts to forgive and overcome the past?
This was a very sweet second chance, secret baby read! This was an enjoyable feel good read. Baby Izzy was adorable as was the dog Molly. Chris and Grace were very sweet together, with their past you would think there would be more drama, however they were very grown up about the situation. They both had secrets, but sharing them made their burdens less. Really good holiday read, I love this town and the people in it!!
This was a brilliant book! It was easy and quick to read and I couldn't put it down. The characters are very well developed and also very likeable. This story has the warmth, relative innocence and good feels of the previous book in the series. Chris and Grace are the perfect couple and their baby, Izzy, is adorable. I'm looking forward to reading about Grace's cousin Cal next; he deserves his HEA. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was such a sweet story. I loved the storyline and really loved the characters. The hearing loss and embarrassment hit very close to home. I have a son with the same issue. He was embarrassed to wear hearing aids as a younger man. Now that he's older, he sees just how helpful they are and people aren't that judgemental. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. She's a new author to me, but I'm already a fan.
Grace got pregnant with Cal's. Baby but never told him because he told her he didn't want kids. Turns out he does want kids and after he lost his hearing in his left ear and his career in the air force he returned to Trinity Falls and pursued Grace again . Realizing that Izzy was his daughter was icing g on the cake a x after they were both truthful with each other, she accepted his ring.
Love this sweet warm story. I read it Christmas Day, and it fit right in with how things were going for me. I felt a lot like Trudy, alone and forgotten. Then her new friends stayed and lifted her up. I have told several of my friends about the wonderful writer, Clara Pines, and how she catches and holds your attention with her writing. Thank you for this story and all the others.
Talk about communication being the most important part of a relationship, Chris and Grace both missed that information. Grace also missed the meaning of what “assume” means. Both Chris and Grace suffered because of an erroneous assumption on Grace’s part. Chris is so busy trying to hide his hearing loss that he almost loses Grace again. I enjoyed both Books 1 and 2 of this series and look forward to the next one.
I absolutely loved this, my first read from this author. Her characters are adorable, and their story heart-felt and relatable. The pace was spot-on, with the entire book not overly long but totally complete. It was extremely difficult to put this down, so be prepared to curl up with your copy, as you may be there for a bit. I loved that this was not only a secret baby, but a second chance at love that slipped away as well. A sweet read that was absolutely swoon-worthy!
Another amazing installment of the Trinity Falls sweet romance series! Chris & Grace's second chance story was as sweet as they come! All the misunderstandings between them are so frustratingly possible & realistic, it has you rooting for their happily-ever-after from the beginning. Ms. Pines is a talented writer that brings Trinity Falls to life, along with all the residents. I can't wait to read the next installment & I hope she never stops telling their stories.
I loved this second chance/ secret baby romance! Chris and Grace’s story was amazing! They get their second chance, but they have communication problems. Being snowed in together they had a chance to get closer. Will they be able to start over or will their past get in the way? Soldier’s Secret Baby is a sweet, heart touching story! I loved it!
I'm enjoying this series set in Trinity Falls. Clara Pines knows how to tell a heartwarmingly sweet romance, and this book did not disappoint. Grab a cup of hot chocolate and a warm blanket while reading this story, and soon you'll be imagining you're at the Inn with these lovely characters!
Grace Cassidy returned to her home town with her daughter Izzy. Chris Bell returned home because he had been medically discharged from the service because of hearing loss in his left ear. He also got a support dog named Molly. This was a great story of old friends coming together and finally admitting their feelings for each other.
The key to any relationship is communication and honesty. Grace and Chris learned that the hard way! I cried for their heartbreak and rejoiced when they got it right. Izzy was the sweetest addition to the love story. Again the friends and family added so much to this story. Trinity Falls is a great place to live and fall in love!
The first and second book of the series has been so heartwarming I can’t wait to start the third. It’s fun to watch the first characters in the first book to come together with the characters in the second group and how it all falls in place with a happy family.
Chris and Grace's story is one misunderstanding after another, but hopefully they can talk and get their act together. Another great Clara book....and a real page turner!
If only people would be open with each other and save themselves the pain and heartache of making assumptions. I enjoyed reading this book and really felt the characters’ emotions. It’s late but I stayed up to finish it. You’ll love reading it too.
