By day I am an iPhone developer architecting the app used to scope Stephen Colbert’s ear. By night I am Batman. Ok maybe not. One can dream though, right?
I’ve been writing since I was six years old and started inflicting my work on others at age 18. By age 24 people stopped running away when I approached them with a new story and shortly thereafter I published my first one in the Rifter.
Wait you’re still reading?
Ok, the facts I’m supposed to list in a bio. As of this writing I’m 38 years old and live just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in the beautiful town of Mill Valley. If you’re unsure how to find it just follow the smell of self-entitlement. Once you see the teens driving Teslas you’ll know you’re in the right place.
I live in a tiny studio that I can cross in (literally) five steps and don’t own an oven. But you know what? It’s worth it. I love developing iPhone apps and if you want to work in San Francisco you accept that rent for a tiny place costs more than most people’s mortgage.
If you and about 2 million other people start buying my books I promise to move out of Marin to a house in the redwoods up in Guerneville. No pressure. Wait that’s a lie. Pressure.
I'm a huge fan of both fantasy and science fiction. I've read every book written by Brandon Sanderson, as well as a few other greats such as Craig Alanson, Stephen King, Nicholas Sansbury Smith, Dennis E. Taylor and more. When I found this Omnibus collection, I figured I would buy it and try it out. I can say I was more than pleasantly surprised by the immediate interest I felt as I started. I have no idea these books haven't gained more of a cult following, they definitely have the depth, content, and hooks needed to do so, all I can gather is there just has yet to be significant exposure to the masses. I'm going to shout about it to anyone I can, wherever I can, because I feel the story is worthy of thousands more followers. I hope in a short amount of time, we can build up enough following to get a fandom page as well as a social media fan page. The books so far easily are at the quality I would deem necessary of such action. If you are on the fence, get them and try them. You will be glad you did!
It's like a roleplaying game had a magic potion and became a book, or thirteen books to be more precise.
The characters are cool, the universe building is good, the arc is entertaining. I can't really fault any specific part, also hard to write a single review of 13 books but there you go.
I thought the "previously on" section was pretty fresh and the building a squad with both main characters was cool.
It's not a lifechanging experience and is by far the longest audiobook I've ever listened to at 108 hours. Epic.
Having read the first 10 books now this...wow great read and compelling threads left.
Having read all of the shattered gods books I could then the first 10 of this set buying the omnibus was so worth it. Battle, drama, loss, character development all on point. Some badass and surprising twists. Eager for what comes next.
It's s massive read, but well worth the effort. If you're a fan of Starfinder, Spelljammer your in for a real treat. It combines fantasy and epic space opera sci-fi in one perfect story.
