Mayet Justice #7

Sinful Promise

Rate this book
Sometimes cops are killers.
Doctors are hunters.
Sharpshooters are bodyguards.
And ballerinas rule them all.

That’s my life in Copeland City.

I’m Chief Medical Examiner Minka Mayet, and Archer Malone is my husband.

He’s also a homicide detective.

Together, we work hard to bring peace to the victims of violent crime, and we consider it a good day when we can stop perpetrators before they hurt again.

But what happens when a monster is released back onto the streets and the law simply won’t lock him up the traditional way?

Laramie Fentone has a new target in his sights, and no inclination to stop what he does.

He’s proud of the damage he causes to the innocent, and confident the cops won’t step in his way.

It’s been months since the Copeland City Vigilante has had to take matters into their own hands.

But today may be the day that changes.

Here’s hoping Archer doesn’t solve his new case too easily.

Sinful Promise is the seventh book in a sizzling new suspense series written by Emilia Finn. This book is intended for an 18+ audience and contains graphic scenes that may be disturbing to some readers.

Part 7

3 😔😔😔⭐️s

I was anxiously anticipating for this release!!!!
Sadly, it didn’t live up to my expectations... 😔

While I have been highly invested in the main characters’ stories, I found the secondary’s ones very intriguing too.
With enough subplots to unravel, I didn't need another one with Archer's brothers.
It tired me out and diminished my interest. Besides, it took time away from solving the case.

As for the next part, I have a few reservations…

Amazing Series

I'm loving the Sinful Series which must be read in order. The side characters have become just, if not more addictive than Minka and Archer. Absolutely loved learning more about Fifi. 7 books in and I can't work out where this one is going?!

Another well written, entertaining book in this romance suspense crime series; featuring dark elements, action, detailed investigations, lots of banter between the characters, and laughs that cut through the darker murder scenes and themes. I'd advise readers to start at book one, so you have the background on all the characters in this police/medical examiner/mafia world. I think the book count is almost at 20, so there are plenty to get through.

Minka is a Medical Examiner, who also takes matters into her own hands when it comes to truly bad people/killers escaping the law. Her husband Archer is a homicide cop who left behind his mafia family in New York at sixteen to make a fresh start. (Except they keep finding him - Lol). He is a morally grey character, as well as his wife. Each book has one or two main investigations that are solved, but other cases are ongoing in the background and that's one reason reading this series in order makes sense.

(There is a small spin off series of stand-alone mafia romances featuring Archer's Mafia brothers, which is really good in my opinion, and you don't need to read this series to enjoy it. Some characters cross over, naturally. Underbelly Enchanted series.)

There are other occasional points of view from main side characters too; including Fletch, Archer's detective partner and Aubrey, Minka's assistant medical examiner. And there are several side romances ongoing throughout the series for these characters. We also have grizzly murders, uncomfortable scenes and lots of explicit, spicy romance between our H/h. The back stories and investigations take the bulk of the focus however.

(The Mayet Justice series also has characters from Emilia's 'Checkmate' series making appearances as well. It's a pretty addictive set of eight books, starring morally grey heros and heroines with romance, drama, action and suspense. You have to read those books in publication order, because of spoilers.)

All Emilia's books are in Kindle Unlimited and I'm reading this book as part of a boxed set for books six to ten. Note that the author is Australian and her humour is Aussie in flavour. The books are set in the US in a fictional town.

🌟 BOOK REVIEW 🌟
Sinful Promise by Emilia Finn
🎶 Finish Line -Skillet

Back with Minka and Archer means we have more crimes solve. Including another vigilante k!ll. Yet one of the detectives may be not trying so hard. I mean, a couple that kills together, stays together. When justice wasn’t served she couldn’t let it go. Archer wouldn’t let her do it on her own.

It’s been a few months since we have been back in Copeland and it didn’t disappoint. Secrets of Archer and Minka’s secret life are coming out. Dots are being connected. And Minka is seeing what it’s like to be a member of a mafia family, cause like it or not, Archer going back last book means he is active again. Loyalty runs deep with the Malone family and proof is shown in Cato and Micah and their mysterious visit to Copeland.

I loved that we got to see Sophia and Jay as well as Troy and Ellie. The threat that was laid by Sophia…. Amazing. Yet, knowing what both Minka and Sophia are capable of, this duo working together more would be absolutely AMAZING.

Those bombs at the end with Fletch make me wonder what really is going to happen. Yet with Sophia in the mix, there is no worries there. The pictures they found during their investigation pretty much makes me feel like it will all work out. Yet just like Archer before, Fletch will have to work on the moral factor. I just keep wondering when the hell the rest figure it out! Aka, bestie Aubree!

Definitely recommend but you NEED to start at Book 1.

Sinful Promise by Emilia Finn (A Mayet Justice # 7)

In my opinion, the books in this series are not stand-alone books, you must read these books in order as each story builds on what has happened in previous books. For those of us who have read other books by Emilia Finn, sometimes other characters from other series make a brief appearance. While I liked this book, for me the overall series story arc moved very slowly and a large part of the book was taken up with detailed descriptions of the honeymoon phase for Archer and Minka's relationship. Some secrets were revealed which made for an explosive ending with friendships & professional relationships in jeopardy. Looking forward to the next chapter in the life of Minka Mayet. 3 and half stars.

Wow! Don’t miss this series!

Sinful Justice is the 7th book in the Mayet Justice series by Emilia Finn, featuring Minka and Archer embroiled in so much drama, suspense and secrets! Oh my! More Malones descend on Copeland City, and cases threaten to expose too much. As more people figure out the truth, how will that change the dynamic of our little crew? Emilia Finn is a master of world building and plot twists, and that scene with the Checkmate contingent offers so many possibilities! Beyond the passionate romance, the witty banter, and the suspense cases, are the authentic emotions of these amazingly developed characters that we have come to love. I finally had time to sit down with this book, and couldn’t put it down!! Honestly, my mind is blown, my heart hurts, and I’m so excited for the next book, I can barely contain myself!! If you haven’t read this series, give it a chance! But start at the beginning—you won’t regret it!!

Oh my goodness….I’m tired of saying it and I’m beginning to feel like I’m on repeat but you MUST start this series and just enjoy the ride!
Minka and Archer are so intoxicating and addicting and then you throw in everyone else…..no words can describe how good The Mayet Justice Series really is.

I’m not giving hints, spoilers or anything else…you just have to start reading. 5 stars will never be enough for any of Emilia Finns books and this one is absolutely no different. I’m not sure how I will make it to the next one because I am not sure how to process the end of this one. Have mercy is it worth the read!

ahhhhh!! 😱😱

Seriously good! So good I didn’t want to zoom through it like normal but Jesus how could I not!! Cato and Micha turning up and sleeping on the sofa.. I mean Cato is sleeping somewhere but not arch and mayet’s sofa..Sera in the club!! Fletch finding out who the vigilante is/are.. and Jada is back.. but not for her daughter.. it’s getting messy over in Copeland city I just hope that those who know keep quiet.. but I think soon enough mayor Lawrence is going to get wind of the situation for sure! Loving the little pop ups of Sophia, jay and Ellie.. I wonder if they become a partnership?? The next book needs to be released like now!

ride or die!

Right to the end, Emilia keeps us on our seat with the running saga of Minka and Arch and all their crime solving antics. Throw in some killers and a dysfunctional family in a world of secrets and there’s bound to be lines drawn in the sand. Amelia has once again created a world that grows with each new book. Minka and Arch are headed for the ultimate of bottles and I cannot wait to see where they go and who they become.

Choices and consequences

Choices have consequences, whether those consequences are the ones we expect or not. Minka & Archer are starting to feel those consequences, and it remains to be seen how severe they may be. I have LOVED this series and am so invested in the characters. It’s almost like a spicy Law & Order. The short-term case in this one was a bit obvious, but it served its purpose in the overarching story line. Can’t wait for the next one!

That was intense!

There's so much more Fletch and Fifi and Malone than I expected. Wow. This book was amazingly intense. I couldn't put it down, and when I ended, I had to reread it slowly. There are threats and ultimatums. There's friendship and family. There's returning characters, and then there are more. I think this may be my favorite Mayet book and the one that caused me the most angst. What's gonna happen next? was, and still is, on repeat. So good.

Through the twists and turns and all family matters this book was intense, riveting and just full of so many emotions. I was smiling in some parts then so sad in others and shockers just gaping at how Emilia Finn comes up with these story lines. An absolute must read thoroughly enjoyable, will keep you at the edge of your seat and now I can’t wait for the next Mayer book since it ended without knowing what’s going to play out next for the friends who are like family.

Not loving the direction the series is moving

I have mostly enjoyed this series after Minka quit being so rude but I could have done without the vigilante business and I don't like where that part of the story is going. I would like the books to be more about the cases than the Malone drama or drama between the couple and their friends.

It seemed like only about a third of this book was about yhe current investigation, which was only mildly interesting.

She’s the queen!

It always feels like going home when visiting the worlds created by Emilia Finn. Minka and Archer have a connection that transcends pages of a book and leaves you breathless. Fletch and Sera, Aubrey, and the Malone brothers only grew deeper and deeper into my heart. Cato Malone takes the cake with his needy but snarky banter. Loved him. Oh, and that ending! **Chef’s kiss!!** Cannot wait for the next book.

Promising Page Turner

Emilia has written another stellar read. The twists and turns continue in this new Mayet Justice book. The vigilante is at it again but someone might have seen something this time. We learn more about the Malone brothers, and some of our favorites from Roller town make an appearance. This series keeps me on my toes, and I keep guessing on who done it this time.

Emilia Finn delivers again! I was so excited to jump back in with Minka and Archer! I practically finished this in one sitting. This series grabbed me from the start and only seems to get better and better with each book. I loved that we got a cameo from Sophia and Jay from the checkmate series (my fave!). Can’t wait for the next installment but i also don’t want to series to end!

Sinful Promise

So many explosive moments in this book. And as always, these characters and stories and explosive moments all connect together beautifully and magically to create a book you literally can’t put down until it’s over, and then realize a re-read is necessary, because did that even just happen?! TL,DR- yes, I HIGHLY recommend this book.

Heart-stopping

Minka and Archer’s lives have been intertwined from the first collision in the airport. The family in New York, the family in Copeland, and the fallout of people’s choices makes my heart ache - especially for Fletcher. I long for Fletcher, Aubree, Tim, and Fifi to find happiness and Minka and Archer to have just a wee bit of peace and quiet.

Promises

I love Archer & Minka’s love. I know most would “kill” to have what they have. Although some questions were answered, we have so much left to unearth. What are the Malone brothers up to? Loved the visit from some of our favorite characters too. Can’t wait for the next one.

Copeland City isn’t the same…

Will Copeland ever be the same?… The love and loyalty of friends that have been thought of as family are challenged. Friends and family from a different life appear, lines are drawn, and words are spoken… Is it really a crime to protect the ones you love? Emilia Finn you’ve done it yet again❣️❣️

Another great read in this series. Archer’s protection of Minka is top notch while Minka needs to learn to shut her mouth about vigilante business. I didn’t mind the brothers involvement in this one, but both Cato and previously Felix are Uber annoying with Minka and it’s a bit over played. Wished more happened with Fifi and Fletch, but maybe next book?
