The third installment of the bestselling Magical Beatdown series! In this volume, a new magical girl arrives--and could there be sparks of romance?
The hyper-violent revenge fantasy continues, printed in striking fluorescent pinks and blues. This book can be read as a stand-alone or as part of the series.
Volume 2 is constantly unavailable in the library, so I gave volume 3 a try, since it seemed like these would be stand-alone stories and luckily that was true. I liked this volume better than the first one. The dialogue flows more naturally and the drawing style has improved as well. The story is still incredibly simple, but fun and very violent. So 3,5 stars for this one!
Jen Woodall knows how to channel femme / they rage! She illustrates the shit out of these magical little zines, perfect for a short pick me up after a cat call. I love they how they are inclusive, get their point across, don’t mince words, & aren’t apologetic. The Riso colorways are also perfection. Pick these up if you can.
HEHE. I'm so glad this is an on going series, but it's bittersweet that's each volume is short. I love this series so much! It's hilarious, proactive, and filled with magical girl gags and pop culture references. I recommend this to any magical girl fan!! ❤
