Motel owner Gina Gallagher can't believe that her future happiness hinges solely on tracking down her cheating embezzling louse of a husband. He ran off with all their money and now Gina wants her share back. She needs it to start her dream business. But when the P. I. she hired tells her that a mysterious person is looking for her, things get complicated. Her ex stole money from a client. Hopefully that person isn’t trying to get his revenge through Gina.
Samantha Walters has only one week to convince her mother, Deena, that her new boyfriend is a scammer intent on stealing the family chocolate business. Flirting with the guy in the motel room next door is just a way to distract herself from this unpleasant task... Until she finds out the guy in the room next door is the son of the man trying to take advantage of her mother! Cole Sullivan needs to convince his father that Deena is really a gold-digger after his money. So what if Deena acts sweetly and motherly? Cole knows all too well how good people can be at hiding their true intentions. And is it any coincidence that her daughter conveniently makes a visit Shell Cove at the same time as him? He’s convinced that mother and daughter are up to something, even if Sam does have an attractive smile and a nice laugh. Deena and Chuck think it was a small miracle they found each other. They’ve both known years of loneliness after losing their spouses. Neither of them thought they would fall in love again, especially not at the age of sixty! Too bad convincing their kids that they are perfect for each other is going to take some work. That’s okay, though, because Deena and Chuck have a plan. Plans go awry and events turn twisty and nothing turns out the way any of them thought it would, which ends up being exactly what each of them need. Saltwater Sweets - book 3 in the Shell Cove series - is a standalone book that can be read without the previous books. Fans of the series will get to check in with Maddie and Jules and the welcome wagon ladies as well as other characters of the series to see what they are up to!
This is Gina’s story, the third cousin, but also very much Deena and Chuck’s story.
First Gina. I like her. Her character is multi-layered. She experienced the biggest life change, the hardest lesson learnt. There’s more to her than meets the eye, and it made her relatable. From book 1, she had to grow on me, but she sure did and now I found her story very interesting! Very exciting! Hers is not a love story though, that’s not what she needs right now, but hers is a story of finding her own path.
Then Deena and Chuck, now theirs IS a love story! But their grown-up children are not on board with their relationship. Will that break them apart?
Multiple POVs which worked well in this book, it flowed really well.
I think this story is best read as part of the series, I don’t think it would work well as a standalone, because of all the things that happened in books 1 and 2.
If you like Women’s Fiction, then you’ll love this series! Heartwarming!
This is the third book in the Shell Cove series, centered around three cousins (Jules, Maddie and Gina) who inherit an inn from their grandmother.
After tentatively trying out some of her grandmother's recipes, Gina Gallagher has discovered a hidden talent for baking pies. Now she dreams of having her own pie shop, but doesn't have the money to start up a new business. In desperation, she hires a private investigator to look for her estranged husband so that she can divorce him and take her rightful share of their assets.
Meanwhile, out-of-towners Cole and Samantha have both checked into the inn. Their parents Chuck and Deena have started dating. Cole and Samantha are equally convinced that their parent is being conned by the other. But when sparks begin to fly between the two of them, they have second thoughts about breaking their parents up.
Will Gina's private investigator find her husband? Are Chuck and Deena truly in love? Can Cole and Samantha get past their suspicions and call a truce?
Another light-hearted comfort read from Meredith Summers to add to your clean romance collection.
Samantha Walters and Cole Sulivan are both in town with the sole purpose of checking out their parent's new significant other, and to try and put the kibosh on the relationship if they find that one or the other is trying to take advantage of the other.
Sam’s mother owns Saltwater Sweets, the candy store has been in the family since Sam’s great grandmother founded it. Sam doesn’t want to see some shyster coming in and trying to steal the business from her.
Cole’s father is quite well off and doesn’t want some woman taking advantage of his wealth just to better themselves.
Neither Sam nor Cole knows the other is there before they meet, and through a series of misunderstandings. They nearly succeed in destroying the warm relationship their parents have.
This is the third book in the Shell Cove series.
There are developed characters, and a solid storyline.
This is a clean read as well as a standalone story.
Saltwater Sweets is Book 3 in the Shell Cove Series by Meredith Summers. I absolutely love this women's fiction series and the author's writing style.
Gina is the main character in this story, and she is just wonderful, her characters is complex, complicated and well fleshed out. Her story is very relatable. Not every story is about love.
Speaking of love, I really enjoyed Chuck and Deena's story. I always enjoy a novel with multiple points of view, and this worked really well in this book. These two have some things to overcome.
There was a hint to mystery in this novel which I absolutely LOVED.
I love this series and all three cousin's stories. I would say start with Book 1 to get all the back story.
Such a wonderful, sweet, charming well written novel.
I love this series! The 3 cousins are all so different, which makes the storylines intriguing. This book really kept my attention. It was interesting to see how someone’s current and past experiences can cause them to misinterpret the facts and cause so many misunderstandings. Can’t wait for the next one!
What a wonderful series, I loved them all and holding there could be more in the future. The characters are friendly, supportive and loyal. If you're looking for a charming forgotten beachside town and bit of mystery , romance and uplifting series then this is it. Enjoy.
Gina is trying to retrieve the money her embezzling husband Hugh made off with. She wants to move on with her life, but can’t until he is found. She hires the local private investigator Ellie to help find him. Can Gina get her money and her life back? Read the book.
When an older couple falls in love, there grown children decide that the others parent may be trying to rip off the other, much misunderstanding ensues. A sweet clean read with strong characters that I couldn't put down!
The last written book in this series but I am sure there will be more like in the Lobster Bay series. I loved reading about Gina - I am glad, yes, that the cousins are working so well together!
