Lauren: I broke off the engagement with my workaholic ex ten months ago. Now Mason's back in Clear Creek and telling me his grandmother is dying. And by the way, "I didn't have the heart to tell her that we aren't together anymore."
I love his gran, and before I know it, I'm visiting her, and she's asking when's the wedding date and no more procrastination. Gran wants to see us married before she leaves this earth.
No pressure.
The thing is, I'm not over Mason. We had so much chemistry between us that we could fuel a rocket to Jupiter. We're perfect for each other, except for how he's married to his business. I can't fall for him again.
Not happening.
Do you love fake engagement tropes? Second chances? You'll love this laugh-out-loud, fast-paced, sweet romcom novella.
Reviews:
"Fun story where two people come to realize they still love each other. Gran is a great character - full of spunk! It was a quick, easy read with a HEA ending." Jackie.
"A good clean romantic comedy that will leave you smiling and waiting for an invite to the real wedding with Gran." Red Reviews.
"A sweet and delightful story of reuniting two individuals who really still loved each other, even when they thought differently. The author, Lisa Renee, wrote a story many of us could relate to. It had emotions of desiring to care for a loved one, longing to belong, all the flair of planning a wedding, and being cherished. Lisa Renee is a “new-to-me” author and has an entertaining way to bring the story to life. The story flowed smoothly and there were many fun parts. I enjoyed the banter between the characters and all the planning to do something special for a dear loved one. I totally enjoyed reading this book, and I highly recommend you pick it up to read. I hope we will be hearing more about the wonderful characters in this book." MF Literary Works.
Lisa Renee’s first full-time job was as a marketing manager at 19 years of age. From there, she learned the ins and outs of small business and went on to create three business start-ups, including developing her own brand of organic smoothies and lattes.
When Lisa got the writing bug, she switched gears and now loves coming up with swoon-worthy stories filled with awkward moments, adding love and laughter to every page of her romantic comedies.
When she's not writing, you can find her enjoying nature, hiking, snorkeling or with her running buddies, jogging the great outdoors of her home country, Australia.
I tried to get into this one since I thought the plot idea about faking it for a grandmother was cute. But with all the noticing, the couple thinking about their past kisses, a mention of a man’s “swimmers”, and then a weirdo being portrayed as a major conspiracy theorist, I’ve lost interest. Let’s be honest, I know how it will end and I can’t say I’m invested enough to continue.
Main content up to what I read: No major language, minor ones like ‘heck’, ‘freaking’, ‘crap’, and unfinished ‘what the—?’ are said; Sarcasm & Eye rolling.
Kisses (up to semi-detailed); Recalling kisses & Wanting to kiss (up to semi-detailed); Touches, Embraces, & Heat (up to semi-detailed); Mason pinches Lauren’s butt while flirting; Noticing (including muscles, up to semi-detailed); Lauren says she’s a selective feminist (as she jokes that she’s a feminist but still wants the man to put out the trash and do the dishes) and refers to females as the superior sex; (including a mention of not letting her future kids watch sexist cartoons like the Flintstones); A mention of a man winning a swimming race (regarding to a pregnancy/intimacy).
“Falling for you is worth more than a stuffy suit.” This is a quote from the book Faking it for Gran’s Sake by Lisa Renee. It’s one of the books in this sweet collection of stories about “Falling Back into Love.” For me, this story was a sweet and delightful story of reuniting two individuals who really still loved each other, even when they thought differently. I love how Lauren is standing up to what she knows is right and breaking the cycle of work-aholism
I also like that mason was good at his job and enjoyed it. So how to get the two back together? How about Gran’s health crisis and the fact mason didn’t have the heart to tell her they weren’t together. Back together at least for fakes reminds them of how good they are together
You’ll enjoy a trip back to clear creak county with old friends, white water rafting, Mrs Baxter and a new set of shenanigans
Can be read as a standalone, but you’ll enjoy the other installments in the bachelors of clear creek county
I received a copy from the author. This in no way affected my five star review. All thoughts are my own
Can Lauren and Mason find a second chance? They do still love each other, but unresolved issues are keeping them apart. I enjoyed reading how they searched their souls and worked through their issues, often involving humorous situations!
Though this is the first in a new series and can be read as a stand-alone, people familiar with the author’s Bachelors of Clear Creek Sweet Romantic Comedy series will enjoy this spin-off. For first time visitors, this is a great introduction to this charming setting and lovable, quirky cast of characters (I’m looking at you, Gran & Mrs. Baxter!)
I received an ARC copy of this book, and this is my voluntary, honest opinion.
Lauren and Mason has been together but she broke it off as he never had time for her as he was always working. Now it’s months later and his grandmother is in the nursing home and he goes to visit. But she wants to see Lauren as well as they were engaged. Now he has to go find Lauren and ask her to go with him to see his grandmother and pretend to be engaged yet. She goes and grandma is thrilled to see them together and so happy. But did grandma play Cupid and try and get them back together? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Almost a DNF for me. I speed-read through it as the plot wasn't there for me and the characters weren't engaging enough for me to invest more time.
The premise is exactly as the title says. The couple has broken up, but his grandmother doesn't know that. The MMC is basically a workaholic that didn't dedicate enough time to making the relationship work, so the FMC split with him. Now gran is "Dying" and wants to see them married.
The MMC didn't make any changes to himself until the very end, so I wasn't convinved of them as aa couple.
Lauren and Mason were engaged, but she broke up with him, because he was a work-a-holic. His grandmother, Gran, lived in a nursing home in the same town as Lauren.
He never told Gran about Lauren and him breaking up. Now that he thinks her health is bad, he doesn't have the heart to tell her. What is he going to do when Gan wants them to get married before she dies? What is Lauren going to say?
I received a free ARC, and this is my honest opinion.
My rating is a 3⭐ - thanks to Amazon i could read this book, and know about Lauren and Mason's story.
Some spoilers will be here!!!!!!
They just needed a Gran's advice. Tho she was the right person to open Mason's eyes unfortunately they wasted time they could have and enjoy together. I mean, I supposed they really get married and are happy 'cause Lisa doesnt tell us that in the story 😂
This is a sweet second chance romance about Lauren and Mason. Lauren broke off their engagement because Mason put his job at Brooker and Son over her. When Mason starts visiting his Gran at the nursing home, she wants Lauren to visit too. Will Mason decide to put Lauren first this time or will they just be friends? Grab your copy of this quick read and see what happens.
This refreshing story is a true rom-com with heartfelt romance and seriously funny situations. The chemistry between Lauren and Mason is portrayed beautifully as is Gran's character. I absolutely loved this sweet romantic story. I received a free copy of the book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Amazing what a misunderstanding can do! Funny and sweet ex fiancé story that had an unexpected development---or more. I enjoyed the author's dealing with ex-fiancé, grandmother and her problem, and general life. Characters were fun and kind, bygones were bygones---a gentle approach to what could be a nasty encounter. I enjoyed the premise and how the author told the story.
Lauren and Mason's engagement ended when she got sick of his workaholic ways. She thought she had seen the last of him until he came to her and said his beloved grandmother only had a few months to live and still thought they were engaged. This was not a long book, so I won't spoil it any further. It was a cute read and a nice break from heavier reading.
When two former fiancees reunite, it's for Gran's benefit. Believing she's dying and loving her grandson's former love,, they'll do whatever it takes to give Gran her last wish: to see the two of them married! Cute and sweet, I the book is funny and uplifting. Enjoy!
This was a super cute, short, second chance romance! I can't go into too much detail without giving away the entire story since it's a short book, but give it a read to see what happens with Lauren and Mason's failed engagement when they find out Gran doesn't have much time left!
Mason and Lauren were engaged. Now for Gran's sake, they need to pretend they are still together. Gran is a fun character. This was a fun read, with a HEA. Recommend.
This is all you would want in a Rom Com! Fun, sweet, silly, and starring two people who you would really love to get together! Who can resist a story with a spunky grandmother? It's a quick read, perfect for people who like clean romance that you can also laugh out loud with!
