Riggs is possessive and cruel, twisted beyond all measure.
I knew it, yet still trusted and loved him.
Then he betrayed me.
I can’t forgive what he did.
So I try to break what’s between us…to exit his dark world without a second thought.
Yet the lonely nights torture me, reminding me what it felt like to be his, proving he’s right. Once you’re in his world, there’s no getting out. It becomes ingrained into your soul.
And Riggs’ obsession with winning me back doesn’t help. Nor does my weakness to visit the club.
Each of our encounters hurt more, leaving unanswered questions.
How can he love me and do what he did?
Why do I keep returning to his arms?
It’s a cycle I’m terrified will never end—part of me doesn’t want it to.

I get the last book ended in a cliffhanger but this one was like 200pages too long and I’ve never wanted to DNF a book so bad in my life. Blakely is such an annoying FMC.
This should not have been a duet. Everything interesting could have been wrapped up in one book. I was bored and found that I was forcing myself to read the book. It felt like the couple had the same conversation over and over. On a side note, the H said “my wife” 117 times and “Pet” 218. I found myself rolling my eyes and skimming pages. I hate when authors drag out a story to squeeze another book out. That is exactly what this felt like.
The Vow is the emotional conclusion to the Club Indulgence Duet by Maggie Cole. It is told in first person, dual perspective and is not a standalone. After leaving after the discovery of Riggs' betrayal of her trust, Blakely leaves him and vows never to return. But Riggs doesn't plan on letting her go. Riggs didn't consider the hurt it would cause Blakely when he used her in the revenge plot against her father, but he vows he'll do anything he needs to in order to keep her and protect her.
The Vow is a super intense and emotional rollercoaster ride from page one! I love the fact that Blakely doesn't just roll over and forgive him for what he's done, but the back and forth between them on this subject feels like it lasts a little too long for me. Riggs is really trying, but seemingly oblivious to the real problem while Blakely has a hard time articulating what exactly she wants him to do to make it up to her. The chemistry and smexy times between them are super hot, but it's very BDSM heavy and it's a lot. Definitely more intense I'm used to. Overall, I enjoyed the story and if you're into dark and angsty books with super smexy BDSM, this one will definitely be fore you!
This review may contain spoilers, so fair warning, upon reading the review.
Introduction In The Vow, which is the companion novel to "The Auction" by Maggie Cole. In The Vow, this story basically picks up from where the first book ends. So you most definitely will want to read the first book first before diving into this one here. I really was curious to see how Maggie Cole was finish up the Duet. I personally ADORE duets, when done well, they can be so full of depth and growth. But honestly, I wasn't a fan of some aspects of this one. I still felt like it was a solid read for sure, but the heroine was flakey at times. So I honestly struggled with her and she is the reason I had to lower my rating on this one. I do think that if you enjoyed the first book, then you most definitely will enjoy this one. I do understand if this duet isn't for everyone. Its completely different from anything that I have read from this author before so it was quite interesting to see what she develops on this one.
My Outlook I won't be doing a summary on this one as I don't want to spoil it. There are reviews that do share some aspects of this one, but I do think you can easily go into this one blind. So while I had some issues I honestly really enjoyed this one. So basically this is where the grovels happens throughout the WHOLE book and its not needed to last that long. The heroine is so stubborn and batty at times. So she knows the man she married, she knows he is ruthless at times, so why did it take her so long to forgive him? I honestly don't know. Its really confusing to me, but she frequently hurts the hero all throughout the story and I just couldn't keep up with it. My main issue is that she keeps saying that she accepts him and loves him for who he is, but she really doesn't. She just wants him to not be who he is, and that is what she has to come to terms with. Much of the delay and drama is on her own. She really has her own issues that she needs to come to terms with but in the process hurts him. Now I do think through most of the story, she doesn't realize this. She is pretty clueless on this. So in some ways you can understand it from her point of view, however, I don't think it justified how she is constantly pushing him away and never listening to him about her safety and then turns to her manager knowing exactly how the hero would react to it and then act all offended by it. So I just felt like the heroine needed a cold wake up call and the hero was way more patient with her than he should have been. Yes he wrongs her, but I mean it takes months and months for her to come to terms with it. I did enjoy other aspects of the story and the club scene was interesting, not as dark as I was led to believe though. It seemed a pretty tame scene haha but I do think this scene was essential for this couple so I am glad that we got to see how it really assisted them a bit on the issues that they were having with each other.
The Vow, the second book in Maggie Cole’s Club Indulgence duet, delivers an intense and emotional conclusion to the steamy romance that began in The Auction. The stakes are higher as the characters face deeper challenges, testing their trust and devotion. The chemistry between the main characters remains sizzling, with even more tension and vulnerability. The plot is a blend of passion and suspense, weaving in unexpected twists and emotional revelations. There’s lots of drama, and the main characters might be even more frustrating in this one 😅
Again, I am not the perfect audience for these books, and I got triggered really hard. Like I was physically sick for almost a day. So while this duet is really well done, check your freaking content warnings and trust your guts.
Riggs has a lot of making up to do, and first he needs to be honest with himself. I love the focus on the vows they both made to each other, and that Blakely stands firm on the two of them understanding each other before things change. Like damn, I respect this fictional woman so much. She stands up for herself, demands that he LISTEN and HEAR what she needs for things to be fixed, and she also truly contemplates where he is coming from and his struggle. It's not perfect. This is a real, gritty, messy way that two people work their way back to the relationship they deserve with the person that is meant for them. I loved that.
The ending was not what I saw coming, but my vengeance-hungry tendencies enjoyed it immensely. They get a happily ever after, and they get it on the right terms. They understand each other in a way they didn't before, and I love seeing Riggs understand when to let go, and Blakely when to give in. I loved their relationship again by the end.
However, there's a scene that was too much for me. It was too much for Blakely, and I get why it happened and why it was the right thing for the plot, but I found my new limit. It's a scene at the club, you'll know when it's coming. When Riggs explains his choices to her later, it really did help Blakely understand, but in that moment I was...dissociating from my body. Which on the one hand, I apparently have some more things to work through, but on the other, I can respect the steel it takes to write that scene. There is no SA or non-consent, but the dynamics and iron clad rules of a club and formal D/s relationships makes things complicated.
I cannot say enough amazing things about this book. It literally had everything you can ask for - action, drama, heat, suspence and heartache. I felt every single emotion and really connected to these characters on a deeper level. Maggie does such an amazing job really making you feel everything the characters do. You will want to cry, scream, laugh and so much more! The second half of this duet was done so well and I found all the closure I needed. Perfection!
This story must be read with the first part, The Auction, as this starts pretty much where that left off. Riggs' actions now have Blakely doubting her trust in him, and she has no clue what is going on anymore. She just knows that Riggs hurt her badly and she isn't sure she can ever get over that. Riggs makes it clear that she is his wife, and he will not let her go. But will he end up having too?
This was a great end to this duet; we get some twists and turns that have the reader gasping out loud. I really enjoyed this story and give this 5 stars.
I was bamboozled into reading this as I read book 1 and it ended in a cliffhanger.. book 1 intrigued me enough to want to move onto book 2.. so here we are..
this book felt almost unnecessary.. I almost DNF a few times because it was literally the same thing every few pages & felt like we were beating the dead horse here of "I forgive you" "I don't forgive you go away" etc... both characters aggravated me so much in this book that I found myself wanting to scroll to the end because I was over the whole
"I can forgive but I won't forget" "I want to trust you again but clearly I can't" dialogue.
It just felt very unnecessary.. then all of sudden it was BAM!! Over the top crazy drama! & also I get it. It's fiction but like damn. Can we be a little realistic here!? The whole end scene of a test being performed while she's asleep and then the doctor withholding information from that same "test" so that the husband can tell her!? COME ON.
The Vow continues the story of Blakey Fox Madden and Riggs Madden. It picks up in the story where The Auction leaves after Blakey found out how Riggs “used” her to take down her dad. The start is a “boxing match” of them arguing and trying to work out their differences. The emotional roller coaster they’re on isn’t for everyone, as Riggs does things that aren’t best for the relationship. Then there’s the club scene… what is to be said about the club scene??!! This is where I could see a lot of people stopping right here. This is something that might not be for everyone and they may not agree with what happens. The story continues and I’m not going to spoil what happens. I will tell you that it’s worth it to read all the way through it.
The Vow is the perfect ending to this duet. There were parts that were a little hard to read. But reading all of it was definitely worth it in the end. The storyline was difficult, but relatable in some aspects. I would recommend this, but check the warnings. I can’t wait to see what Maggie brings us next. ❤️❤️
If I thought the first one was already complicated, this is even more complicated. Blakely and Riggs' story gets even more intense and their relationship is getting tested for sure. And it was very much frustrating especially when Blakely couldn't get what she really want to say to Riggs out. And it ends up hurting both of them and I can see how much Riggs was hurting. And that's how I fall in love with him.
Book 2 in this brilliant duet series, ending of the Auction we find that Blakely has found out that that Riggs has used photo and videos of there time together to get back at her father, Blakely is hurt and runs away leaving Rigg’s to figure out how he says sorry and get the only girl he has loved back. I will be honest the first part of the book frustrated me these two characters are both stubborn but with due course with what has happen in their life’s before getting together. Maggie has written these characters and the whole story brilliantly, once you get to the half way point it start heating up Blakely and Rigg’s take a deep look into themselves and try and forge a plan I will be honest I didn’t see the last few chapters coming it’s a hard read but it’s worth it it. Yet again Maggie has out done herself in this duet series 5⭐️ now we wait for the Ireland series
The Vow by Maggie Cole is book Two in the Club Indulgence Duet. This continues the story of Riggs and Blakely that started in the previous book 'The Auction'. So, you will need to read that book before starting this one. The Vow starts right where we left off and just kept me excited as the last book. Blakely of course is hurt and wanting distance from Riggs. But, Riggs is knows that he has to get Blakely back. Can Blakely learn to trust Riggs again? Enjoyed.
UGH! I am disappointed in this second book, unfortunately. 2/3 of the book was the MCs trying to figure their stuff out, and it was frustrating as a reader. I liked Blakely even less in this book. She was immature and really, to me, had very little character growth. Riggs was at least more mature, but he caved to her so much it drove me crazy. His personality characteristics waffled so much over the course of the books. FINALLY in the last few chapters of the book we got some action and resolution, and that part *was* entertaining/suspenseful. Part of me would like to see a spin-off, maybe with Kalim, but not if the writing is like this story.
I seriously almost did not finish this book, which makes me kinda sad, but I was too invested at that point. I never like to be critical of someone’s work. Maybe she’s had to push out content too quickly? I LOVED Maggie Cole’s original Mafia Wars series, but for me, everything that has come after has been kinda meh.
This duet kept me engaged in the story for the majority of the time. I read The Auction and I immediately started this one and read more than half of it in one go but then things started changing for me. Everything was fine but after 60% things happened… Riggs had his issues and insecurities and I think he did went too far with his revenge by involving Blakely and not even think of the consequences of his actions which was odd to me but I guess he was blinded by revenge. However being someone like Riggs doesn’t excuse his behavior and actions so I was all in with Blakely decision to make him basically grovel and make things right but that’s when things started going downhill for me. After Riggs did everything in his power to grovel in order to get her back, she still didn’t budge. To be clear I was mad at Rigg but after this part of the book it came to a point where someone had to give in and it felt like he would be doing penance forever but a bit forward Blakely did gave in. However she wanted Riggs for some things but he wasn’t good enough for others and I wasn’t expecting this from her. I thought she knew what she wanted and yes, I did understand why she couldn’t trust him again with everything in her and I was okay with that but then the club scene happened. The club scene happened and I was throughly confused. Why would Riggs assume she was searching for a Dom when she was wearing his collar? I didn’t notice anything particular about collars so this lead me to believe that the collar was a sign of ownership and that she was taken so basically Riggs had no reason whatsoever for his outburst, in my opinion. On that same scene she insisted in being recorded and I didn’t get her choice because she already had trust issues with Riggs but she still gave him the opportunity to basically fuck everything up again cause he is also lost and doesn’t know what to think anymore and basically he assumed facts not on evidence. I get that she needed to submit but that only should work when she trusted Riggs so basically that whole scene a dynamite waiting to be lit. I was uncomfortable throughout the scene and confused by their reactions and maybe that was Maggie’s intention and that’s fine but it just didn’t work for me. After all that I was starting to get frustrated with Blakely because she didn’t even knew what she wanted out of their relationship and was always being snippy or just sayings things to Riggs that even she couldn’t understand. I was 100% behind Riggs when he took his decision of backing out and letting her go if she wanted. Best decision he’s ever taken. Then plot twist happened and it got my attention. I wasn’t expecting it happening quite like that but I liked how things went. I thought that after that Blakely would have some other reaction than the one she did but that’s not something that bother me. I loved Riggs in this book ( I wasn’t much of a fan of him in book 1) and I do love Blakely and the kids. The girl is precious and of course she is Daddy’s girl. 🙂
Book 2 of the latest Duet by Maggie Cole picks up where THE AUCTION ended. Blakely Fox-Madden has found out the ugly truth her beloved husband, Riggs, had not shared with her. The destruction of her father and mother with videos and pictures of her from the newlyweds sexual relationship. At the same time, her music career has taken off. Her agent Noah is untrustworthy. The singer on tour “loves” her like a sister and is excited to have her working the concert series with her. Riggs remains angry, frustrated and controlling. Blakely remains determined to chart her own independent path with or without her husband. Her trust issues are real. Riggs has controlled her security and Noah wants him removed, and excludes him from his wife’s working schedule. Obviously this does not bode well. Blakely’s mother Marilyn, demands that the money Riggs took back into the company he built with Hugh Matthews, her father, be returned as Marilyn can’t live “poor”. And Riggs just wants his wife back. Through a series of twists and turns that are not always obvious, will trust be rebuilt? Will Riggs and Blakely find their HEA? Who exactly is “King Madden” and what is his role in this mix? Can both Colton and Blakely have the careers which both want on their own terms? Ms Cole has intriguing, conflicted, flawed and feisty characters. Blakely is a determined young woman and her husband, who she loves and is loved in return have to find a way back to each other. Is Riggs capable of relinquishing control? And Colton? The spirit of fun and I’ve and perhaps the big brother Blakely needs. A fabulously hot, complicated and well written Book 2. WELL DONE.. 5+ stars.
The Vow book 2 in The Club Indulgence duet by Maggie Cole is so good and does a great job at answering the questions you might've had at the end of The Auction.
So, in The Auction you know that Riggs would do anything to get revenge on his business partner for embezzling money from their business. That also includes using Blakley, at the time not worrying about the consequences.
The Vow starts off with Blakely staying at her agents' house being all heartbroken from Rigg's betrayal.
The rest of the book has a very strong alpha male like Riggs doing whatever it takes to get his "Pet" back and he does a lot of groveling, and apologizing to the point it makes him feel weak and out of control. And we all know that Rigg's is a control freak.
Blakely also has a lot of soul searching to do, as much as she loves Rigg's she has this constant struggle to forgive and forget. She feels like she can't trust Rigg's anymore that what he did was intentional, and he has no regrets or remorse for his actions. But eventually the urge to submit gets to be too strong and they end up back together. But the lack of communication keeps putting a wedge between them and it's a struggle for them to get past their issues, build the trust back up and focus on their future is heartbreaking to read.
There were some intense moments that had you question what was going through Riggs and Blakely's minds, which in turn had you question if they'd ever learn to trust each other and get back what they had, to get their HEA.
Great job Maggie on a successful job on your first duet series, Rigg's and Blakey's story were fantastic, and I hope you try another duet in the future.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I read The Auction and needed to read The Vow to see what happened with Riggs and Blakely. I enjoyed the concept of the series, but at times, I felt the story skimmed over places where more detailed information would have been beneficial. Riggs had a backstory that was never truly explored that could have given a lot more insight into him and his need for control. Blakely, although she could have been a much stronger character, gave in all the time, even when she wasn’t. Their Dom/sub relationship wasn’t a safe one, not with the way Riggs loses control at times. I’ve read several stories/series with BDSM relationships and I think that is one thing that bothered me the most. Riggs was this known person at the Club, but others didn’t recognize when he wasn’t in the right headspace. Like I said, the concept was good and the storyline was interesting, so this may be a 5 star read for others.
The conclusion of Riggs and Blakely's explosive, sinful and intense romance was epic in every way possible! What started with an auction at the exclusive BDSM club and a twisted revenge idea, ended with a beautiful and heartaching love that will haunt me for a long time. Maggie Cole knows how to slay it.
We left billionaire Riggs Madden at a crucial point of his life. The sub he bought at an Auction and the daughter of his cheating business partner is now his wife. But his secrets are out now and Blakely has run away from him. He cannot live without her and has to prove to Blakely that he really loves her. Blakely is hurt but she missed Riggs too.
Now this is Rigg's turn to grovel. And did this alpha grovel or what? His actions left no doubt about his absolute devotion and love for Blakely. He is still the dominant who thrives on control. Every instinct in his Dom side was screaming at him to manipulate the situation and exert his ultimate control. But he is a man in love. So he gave Blakely space even when it was killing him. He let Blakely set the pace and take her decisions even when all he wanted to do was push and push. I absolutely love to read about a c0cky alpha hero worshipping the woman he loves. Blakely showed a lot of fierceness and strength here. She is taking control of her body, her heart and her career.Submitting to Riggs is a need for her too. But Riggs has hurt her. And they have to work through the secret; the heartbreak, their trusts issues..It was messy. It was heartbreaking. It was equally steamy because their sizzling hot chemistry just refused to die. They entered into this relationship with lies and darkness but their love is pure and mesmerizing. I love how Maggie Cole shows a lot of conversation between Riggs and Blakley. I was living for those moments! Riggs and Blakely are perfectly flawed together.
This book is so good I cant really put it to words how I like it! But you come across books you just can't wait for the next one and this is one of them!! Simply amazing book! I love this duet! This book brings the growth of a couple both together and individual. It brings the struggles and laughter and love out. I picked this book up thinking I would read a few chapters and go to bed then next thing I know its 6 in the morning and I've finished the book! It's that good!
Yeah, definitely wish I would have listened to my gut and DNF 20% in. It picks up right where book 1 left off and then it was nothing but back and forth immature fighting and then the action hit for the last 5% and I didn’t even care.
The constant back and forwards between these two is just amazing. Riggs Madden and Blakely Fox are mind blowing, if you had this relationship yourself I swear you’d implode. Steamy and full of emotions, this is a brilliant end to this duet from Maggie.
I wonder does she have plans for any other characters she has introduced from this series, there are a couple I’d love to see in another book.
Do I recommend? Yes but you have to read "The Auction" first.
Trigger Warnings: ☠️ ☠️
Tropes: dark second chance romance, billionaire, age-gap, forbidden, Alphahole, BDSM, groveling
At the end of The Auction, Blakely was left feeling utterly betrayed by Riggs. In less than a year, Riggs changed Blakely in fundamental ways. He loved her, supported her and molded her but he also broke her down and twisted her to match him. He did this all while trying to take her father down behind her back. He's now relentless in trying to win her back. Each night spent away from him gets harder and she can't help questioning everything that took place before she learned the truth. She is addicted to the life he introduced her to but each encounter with him hurts her more than the last. They are trapped in a vicious co-dependant cycle of twisted desires and complicated emotions. Will she ever be able to let him go or will she hold tight to the vow she made?
Riggs and Blakely's story conclusion took me on another emotional rollercoaster. I deeply appreciated that the author made Riggs grovel but eventually enough was enough and it was time to forgive. Blakely's indecision really got to where it aggravated me. We got tiny bits of insight into Riggs' past and I had hoped we would get the rest with this book but still not what I would have liked. Overall, their journey to an HEA was not easy but it still fed me quite well. I loved the angst, heat and character development. There are possible heavy triggers in this so please educate yourself before starting this duet if triggers are an issue for you. This duet was time well spent and I'm looking forward to Maggie Cole's future works. This is my honest opinion, freely given.
"The Vow" is the sequel to "The Auction," where we follow the journey of Riggs and Blakely. After reading the first book, I was curious to see what unfolds between them. While enjoying the concept of the series, I felt that the story sometimes lacked in-depth exploration in critical areas. Riggs' intriguing backstory, which could have provided insights into his need for control, remained largely unexplored.
Blakely, on the other hand, had the potential to be a stronger character but often found herself giving in despite her reservations. Their Dom/sub relationship raised concerns, especially when Riggs struggled to maintain control, making it feel unsafe at times. Despite these reservations, the overall concept and storyline remained captivating.
I found myself wishing this story wasn't split into a duet. The constant back and forth between the characters created excessive angst without serving a clear purpose, making it challenging to connect with Blakely's character. Her portrayal came across as immature and annoying, making it difficult to fully invest in her journey.
Moreover, I felt that the exploration of kink in the book fell short of expectations. It could have been done in a more skillful and engaging manner, leaving me somewhat dissatisfied with the overall execution.
Just when I thought this duet couldn't get any better after the first book, I read the The Vow and it knocks me on my 🍑. I cannot tell you how perfect this duet is. There relationship is not perfect but it is what each other needs. There are so many amazing moments in this book that will leave you speechless and wanting to finish the book in one night.
Maggie Cole is constantly surprising me with the amazing things she puts in a book. If find myself in awe of her writing and how great it is.
This duet will surprise you and make you believe in true love and that there is someone out there in the world for only you! Congrats to this author because I believe this is one of her best works!!

This is the 2nd and final book in this duet. This is Club Indulgence book #2. This book is a forbidden, age gap romance that you'll enjoy.
Blakely and Riggs are not in a great place and Riggs will do what ever he has to to bring her back. Blakely is not letting him of the hook that was though, she is extremely hurt and not sure if she can get past what he has done. They are both being tested totally , Riggs with his intense possessiveness and her need to forgive him and submit, but she wont let herself as he has hurt her majorly.
This read is a hot and kinky read with steamy intense times. Riggs has a lot of grovelling to do and we wait and see what her decision will be. This book will have your emotions all over the place. I really feel for her at times and I feel for everything that she is going through, Her family is no better and are horrible to her but Riggs is determined to make up for them himself. At times I will say it did get quite repetitive and it felt like at times the story wasn't really moving forward as it was really the same thing over again. However I did love the storyline, I did love the plot and I loved these two characters. You must read book 1 first to follow this story of betrayal, revenge, secrets and love.
What a ride…a roller coaster of emotions was too much. The push and pull, the angst. The lack of communication. (Ya I get it it’s a book it keeps it going, yada yada) too much. Like way too much. When they do communicate, it’s in circles, one of them gets upset and leaves. Both soo frick’n stubborn Ugh It took 80% ….80 frick’n % for her to figure shit out, to articulate her feelings…to her self I might add. Infuriating. Ugh, see there I go again, I do a lot of that in this book. I wish they figured their sh*t out way sooner, yes he royalty F’d up with the betrayal, not gonna deny that, but man I’m a sucker for Riggs. Gawd can’t even pin point what it is, he’s just soo yummy. I wish we got a lot more with the bdms club and play time…let the dom out and play. Let Blakey discover more within the club and her self. Theres so much to Riggs, the Dom in him and her learning. Soo much more to explore, would of been nice. The last 20% made up for it as I’m a sucker for HEA. Then the ending. WTH was that. What a tease Ms. Maggie Cole. Seriously a bonus scene thro book funnel. Let’s keep it going…UGH I couldn’t believe it. That was uncalled for, not necessary…that was cruel. For that alone I’d give it a 1 ⭐️ The bonus scene made up for it, it was hot AF…needed more of that in the book, just sayin. Because of Riggs it’s a 4 ⭐️ for me
Great duet, the twist at the end of The Vow took me by surprise, which is always a sign of good writing.
The baddies were manipulative, the worst kind of baddie. Blakeley’s musician friend Colton, although flawed, was a hoot! Blakeley was slightly frustrating in her constant state of indecision but I totally understood her. But, Riggs….I’ve read a lot of books and met a lot of book boyfriends/alphaholes and a fair few Doms, but, I’m not struck on him to be honest. I could feel his frustration through his POV chapters, but, rationally, how could he think what he did in The Auction could ever be forgivable, even with apologies mounting up. To do that to Blakeley and involve the people he did, no matter the chemistry, the pull between them, it’d have to be deal breaker, wouldn’t it? And he could’ve made it so much better by just genuinely apologising for what he did rather than for being caught, it shows his true arrogance and irrationality of relationships. I don’t know, I shouldn’t get so emotionally involved, lol, it’s not my life… it’s not even real life!! But Maggie does have the ability to drag me in deeply and emotionally. The last scene at Club Indulgence, where Riggs is desperately trying to figure Blakeley out, was difficult to read for me, but that goes hand in hand with my opinions of Riggs! I’d recommend but with my opinions on Riggs, it’s not my favourite Maggie book/duet.
