Blazing Sunlight is the sequel to Among Shadows and the author did a fantastic job with this book. I thought I enjoyed the first book, but the second book had me at the edge of my seat.
Aila has escaped Aidan and Ivo's grasp, on the run along with Flynn and a group of characters that are instant favourites.
Aila still struggles to process the trauma she experienced by Kiran's hand and I felt it's a form of PTSD. Several things triggered these memories for Aila and I think Mora did a wonderful job showing us how Aila went through a healing process, taking what happened to her and using it as fuel to add to her fire of revenge. Betrayal, family secrets and bonds are all part of Aila's story, some cause pain and others freedom.

There were many beautiful moments between Aila and Flynn and the slow-burn romance had the tension building, but not everything was romantic, there were some fights as well. Flynn is such a charmer, I also wouldn't be able to stay mad at him. I enjoyed how Aila embraced both sides of her magic and without giving any spoilers, she delved deep and overcame so much doubt and fear to reach the point where she is at the end of the book. The character development is strong and it's been a while since I felt so connected with a cast of characters, everyone needs such a group of friends. They will tell you when you're wrong, but they'll try and find a way to help you make it right. Now the ending, please this is agony!!! I can't deal with that kind of pain. I need the next book!
TW mentioned at the start of the book: explicit sexual content and darker elements, including mature language, violence, reference to torture, and abusive relationships. It is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age.
This book is perfect for fans of Shadow and Bone, Throne of Glass or readers who like fantasy with found family and a slow-burn romance.
