But Not Fortuitous: A Clint Wolf Novel
When Mechant Loup detective Clint Wolf stops a vehicle for reckless driving, he doesn’t find a drunk driver or an irresponsible teenager inside. Instead, he discovers a distraught father in a desperate search for his missing sons. Upon learning the boys were overdue from a fishing trip in the swamps, Clint summons the assistance of trusted friend and skilled mantracker, Melvin Saltzman.
During their search, Clint and Melvin locate one of the boys huddling near a pirogue in a private lake, but the other brother is nowhere to be found. Melvin begins tracking the teenager through the woods and soon locates a bloody shovel under a windthrown tree. Further on, he locates what appears to be a freshly dug grave--and things begin to go south from there.
What they find when they unearth the grave sets Clint on a 1,800-mile journey to solve a murder case that wasn’t meant to be solved. Whether or not he succeeds--or survives--will depend on a number of things, not the least of which might be a fortuitous event.

Tense, twisty and satisfying
Travels along at breakneck speed with so many unexpected twists that you can’t anticipate where it is going to end up.
This is an ongoing series where the books can be enjoyed independently, but I would strongly recommend reading them in order as the characters and relationships grow from book to book and events that took place in earlier books continue to have an influence on the behaviour and the main characters.
Bourg is an excellent writer who writes out of a lifetime’s expertise in law enforcement. His characters are well developed and his descriptions of locations make me want to visit them (at least until the next reference to the humidity and the mosquitoes!)
As an aside for the British reader, don’t be too quick to assume that the occasional ‘odd’ expression is an error. Look it up. You will likely find it is local dialect or urban slang.
I shall continue to pre-order books in this series, and in Bourg’s London Carter series, as soon as they are announced.

BJ Bourg
Wow, what a story! I thoroughly enjoyed this book just like I have enjoyed all of his previous books. I started it and could not put it down until I finished it! Excellent! I highly recommend!

The Clint Wolf Mystery Series is the best! I loved all the books in the series and #16 doesn't disappoint. This one could be my favorite one but I say that after each book. Looking forward to the next one!

I'm getting down
To the last couple of BJ's books. What will I do if I can't read more about Clint and Susan Wolf??? Clint Wolf mystery series is my all time favorite books to read!! I'm grieving!! I'm depressed!! The only other mystery writer, that's even comes close to BJ's books, is Nick Russell. I'm very particular win the books I read, especially the mystery books. I can tell by the end of the first chapter, if it's going to be any good. If its not up to my standards, I delete it, as fast as clicking my fingers. Well, let's get to this book. What can I say, that I haven't said about every book I've read by BJ? His books are exciting, full of action, you don't want to skip even one page, or you could miss some important bit of information. There's no pills in any of his books. You snooze, you lose! How Clint gets every bit of information, about the case, is amazing. One tiny piece of information leads to another and another. There's always the possibility he'll come across more dead bodies, along the way, which adds to the nail biting. I can't explain this book, to do it justice. There's usually a surprise ending, so he ready. I highly recommend all of BJ's books. Also, thank you BJ for having your books in Kindle unlimited

Another great addition to the series
Another great case for Clint and Susan and the staff of Merchant Loop.
The hunt for two missing teenagers, result in he police finding two buried bodies, one has been in the ground more than 30 years. The investigation involves people from Colorado, Utah and local community and appears to have ties to a murder and an armoured car robbery from decades ago. It has the twists and turns we've come to expect from this series and is an engaging and fast paced story. Clint is also under the added pressure of relentless calls from the father of the boy, demanding to know what Clint is doing to find those guilty and threatening to take the law into his own hands if Clint doesn't solve this case fast.
Can Clint and Amy, recently promoted to detective, along with the rest of the department, get to the bottom of this case fast enough to stop the Father from making good on his promise?
Whilst best read as part of the series, you will get a much better understanding of the characters and what makes them all tick, these still make for a good read on their own.

A friend returns
I read all the other Clint Wolf books one after the other, and really enjoyed each and everyone of them. Its excellent when you read the first book in a series and get hooked with it , as you know you have a good number of books ahead to enjoy. The down side, is when you get up to date with them, and have to wait for another one to be published. The wait has been well worth it.

Clint pulls over a reckless driver and finds a man whose two sons are missing and did not return from fishing last night. Clint and Melvin go into the swamp and discover one of the brothers hiding in the bushes and said his brother went to look what the noise was that they heard. Melvin the tracker follows what little trail there is and discovers a hidden shovel and then a mound of recently turned dirt. When they dig it up the find the missing brother and another body and the chase is on including an 1800 mile trip. Great reading full of suspense and unexpected results.

A twisted plot that takes Wolf across the country and back home again.
The relationship plot was intriguingly complex and defined the crime. Wolf is excellent at following the breadcrumbs, which is why he has a 100% solve rate even on cold cases. Just when you think k you everything, you don't.

This may be one of the best 0f the 15 previous Clint Wolf novels. I enjoy the author’s description of the southest Louisiana venue where Clint Wolf is chief detective. B.J. Bourg’s plots are always well presented, his prose delivered well, his story lines well researched. I especially appreciated the additional ‘wrinkle’ of a Western state connection, with the colorful description of Utah.

Thirty Years
BJ does it as always, a complex involved story that fits together like an intricate puzzle. At 70% it is a complete story but wait there is more. The base of the story is explained and adds interest. Remember, if the first lie is seen as the truth, then each subsequent truth is viewed as a lie.

another exciting novel
As has been all of Clint wolfs books so far each one covers some sad topics but seem to be happening in todays society. They always have a twist and I’m usually on the edge of my seat till I get to the end. I like that the main character is basically kind and caring and loves his family.

exciting
Each book is more exciting than the last! So many things happening including the interaction between Clint and Susan! They are Avery loving, I love married couple! Each case they have each other’s back as well as the police department that together they run. She’s the Chief of Police and he’s the Chief of Detectives! Their department is almost family.

Lots of action
But Not Fortuititous Fortuitous takes Clint away from Louisiana into new territory altogether. Clint follows up on a lead to a second body found in the murder scene of a 15 year old boy. In order to solve the recent murder, he needs to solve a 30 year old murder too. This turns into a highly dangerous case in which Clint nearly loses his life. Recommended

One more excellent thriller from BJ Bourg with Clint Wolf and Susan Wolf solving not one but two murders one where the trail has gone cold for thirty years. Once again, the ending (the mastermind and perpetrator of the crimes) is absolutely surprising.

I can honestly say this book is as good as the other 15. This is one of the best mystery books available. This is the one series that I can't wait for the next book. I hope it will be soon. I highly recommend this book and series

Oh my gosh, what a story!
What a heart pounding story! I know all too well that feeling of hanging off the edge of a cliff, thankfully I was only a saddle rope away. What a awesome series and this one was great!

Another really good story with Clint Wolf faced with a twelve and fourteen year old boys missing. Once Clint calls Melvin in to track the boys, they find one, but the trail of the other ends with a bloody shovel and fresh grave. The story doesn’t end here, it is just the beginning.

Wasn;t as keen on this story was soo sad about the boy .I was also concerned that money 30years old would still be valid as notes change after soo many years not sure how long .
