When Alister October had a stroke of luck and hit the jackpot in the lottery, he bought a house far away from all the troubles of his daily life. His luck was on a roll when he closed the deal on a stunning house atop a hill in the beautiful Alpine region of Switzerland for next to nothing. Burdened by the guilt of leaving his family behind, Alister used his newfound wealth and took his family on a mini vacation halfway around the world to his new house for the Christmas holidays. His good fortune, however, came to a frightening halt when Alister and his family learned the haunting reason why the previous owners hastily vacated this beautiful home. This led to Alister, and his cousins, James and Ravi, discovering the harrowing legacy of their family when the unholy Creature of the Yuletide descended upon them the night before Christmas.
First of all, good horror story, love the way Krampus was portrayed, lore etc.
There was a lot missing. No ages of characters, no descriptions. At a few points, there was lost opportunity to include more of the horror aspect. Felt rushed at the end and insensitive.
'Oh my dad has just died to save you all and I hate you, but ill give you an alibi for the missing children' - Revi
'Fair enough' says Alistair. Then he proceeds to say he's hunting down the monster, fist bumps with his brother and that's where it ends?? Nah.
Alister buys a house in Switzerland for next to nothing. Only it's not the house of their dreams as what lurks in the woods leads to a fight for survival...
I enjoyed this and also love the dark edition. The ending is left open. It did end to abruptly. Left me wanting more. Slow to start but picked up pace and liked the origin and tales of Krampus.
A good read this Christmas and a short read of 142 pages to reach your reading goals by the end of 2023.
Abrupt ending. Wish there was more to the story, but it seems it was a prelude to something else. The story itself had several holes and unanswered questions, but seems as if they could be answered in a later story. Just needed more information all around. Overall, not a bad story, just feel like there was a lot missing.
Let's start off with the fact I didn't know this was the 4th book in the series 😭 guess we will start with book 1 soon and reread! LOVED the cover, obsessed with the black pages! Personally I think all books need this option. I was INVESTED! but it has such an abrupt ending. Still loved it, but f*CK Ravi -.-
Okay, this was my first horror and I love how it didn't jump scare me. I love how the author wasn't too heavy with the horror in this story. Also I didn't know 'Krampus' was a real myth. I also love the build towards the ending I was like who's gonna die.
I loved how this book had all the creepy vibes without being scary, it definitely got me into it. However, really wished it had a better ending, way to abrupt and all how the conflict amongst the cousins were handled as well I didn’t like.
Enjoyable quick read. Didn’t realize it is a prequel book but that’s explains a lot. Had a lot of questions by the end so guess that means it time to continue on the story. Not what I typically read but do enjoy a horror story now and again.
Good, but I needed a bit more. Krampus & the Yule Goat are very creepy, excellent descriptions. I wasn't sure if I missed whose children the nieces & nephew were? No one seemed to care all that much about them in the end. Their moms are going to be pissed though.
I loved this book. The writing style was so smooth and effortless. Almost as though it was being told to me. Made me cry for sure!! I cannot wait to find out what Alister and James find out!
This was a cheesy book that was like Supernatural, Grimm, and Goosebumps had a child. The nonchalance of the characters at the end was ridiculous and not believable at all.
