“Their memories aren’t the only things haunting them...”

Miss Allegra Carruthers surprised everyone by refusing the eminently respectable Sir Oliver Bennett’s offer of marriage. However, that was three years ago, and times have changed.
Allegra’s family is pressuring her to wed, but there’s that certain something that still haunts her when she thinks about Sir Oliver. So when she finds herself in a strange carriage with the man himself, she’s puzzled, confused, and more than a little irritated to find that something is still there.
Oliver is haunted too, by the memory of that kiss he stole from Allegra so long ago, but he isn’t expecting her to be joining him on a mysterious journey out of London. And he certainly has no idea of the otherworldly adventure awaiting them at a deserted inn.
It’s a good thing it’s Christmas. How else could they hope to explain the strange experiences they’re about to share? The season brings magic, along with a snowstorm, and a second chance for Ally and Oliver. But first they have to accept that there really are such things as ghosts...

I'm really rather boring... Honestly. I live a pretty hum-drum life as a wife and mother. I shop at the local supermarket and use coupons now and again. See? Boring stuff.

I live in Virginia now, so I am learning all kinds of new things - such as being able to buy beer and wine along with bread and toothpaste. Wow!

Having been born and raised in England, I do possess a well-developed feel for the English countryside. Comes in handy for those Regency tales.
Even though I was transplanted over to the US side of the Atlantic, I still have ties to all things Brit. I bake sausage rolls and make Christmas pudding. You can take the girl out of England, but not England out of the girl, I guess.

I'm not sure anyone can write really well unless they read. A lot. I read anything and everything these days. And mostly on my couch with a book on my knees. Yes, the technology is out there for electronic versions, but there's not much to compare with a shiny new hardcover from a favorite author.

Oliver receives a note from a seller of snuffboxes which he collects. Allegra goes to her brother's right before a snowstorm hits on Christmas Eve. Calling for a carriage for Allegra to go home, one stops in front of Allegra, and she enters it. It is she finds Oliver and no handles. Oliver had offered for her hand three years previously, but she turned him down. Now, locked in a carriage until the come to inn Oliver was to go, they have time to think over the past and talk. When they arrive at the inn, there seems to be no one there but the fire is lit and a room is waiting for them. What is going on? Are they being kidnapped? Will the scandal force them to marry?

I enjoyed this Regency tale. I liked Oliver and Allegra. She is very outspoken. Oliver seems staid but there is more to him than Allegra knows. That may be why she turned him down. Now they are presented with a riddle which they must solve. I liked how methodical they were. Sparks of humor flowed from them as did sparks of passion. I enjoyed the inn's visitors. I also liked how Oliver knew exactly where what they were looking for belonged. These two are a good couple.

I look forward to more of the otherworldly tales from Sahara Kelly.

This is my only 2nd book by this author and it was a 5 star review from me too.

I must admit, this isn't my favorite genre, but the title pulled me in. Our H/h have a past and her reason for snubbing the H was due to immaturity. They meet in the most unusual circumstances 3 years later. To say how they meet is another unique aspect of this story.

There is great banter even from the ghosts. There is definitely intrigue, twists, romance and surprises. Lovemaking outside of marriage, heat level 3 out of 5.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance and a tad of steam. I can't improve on the blurb, just recommending this unique and humorous story. Loved the epilogue. Story ended at 85% on my e-reader. (ljb)

A most mysterious twist

Not the usual ghost story with a twist. Nice the apparitions were able to supply our couple's needs and keep the old building safely together. The coach with no door handle, then with no driver was a nice touch.

A delightful seasonal tale

This is a delightfully put together seasonal story that has a gothic bent. The characters are brilliantly crafted, and have a bit of a mystery to uncover on their way to realising their desires for each other.
