Christmas Kisses #3

Her Christmas Duke

Rate this book
The Duke’s refusal to give to poor widows on St. Thomas’ Day has repercussions he can’t imagine! Can he find love with Miss Moir who rectified his error in an unusual way?

Miss Augusta Moir is horrified when the Duke of Meyrick, their host, refuses to give any gifts to the poor on St. Thomas’ day. When the same impoverished widows come again, she takes matters into her own hands and gives away the Duke’s things without his knowledge… only for the Duke to begin searching for one prized possession.

Edward, the Duke of Meyrick, dislikes Christmas time. Hosting the Christmas gathering for the sake of his mother, he ignores those who come calling, even though his conscience pricks him. Noticing how Miss Moir is almost always watching him, Edward finds himself intrigued. Conversations, dancing and decorating the manor house soon have him feeling a little more joyous over the Christmas season, only for the loss of one precious item to darken his mood again.

What will happen to their closeness when the truth comes out? Can Edward ever forgive her for what she has done – and will he ever find what he has lost? Or will something more take its place?

Noticing how Miss Moir is almost always watching him, Edward finds himself intrigued. Conversations, dancing and decorating the manor house soon have him feeling a little more joyous over the Christmas season, only for the loss of one precious item to darken his mood again. Miss Augusta Moir doesn’t expect to be noticed by the Duke of Meyrick but he does unsettle her & she can’t keep her eyes from him. Augusta is horrified when the Duke of Meyrick, refuses to give money to three widows on St. Thomas’ day, so she takes matters into her own hands and gives them one of the Duke’s ornaments
A well written interesting read, it’s well paced with strong characters. I really liked both Edward & Augusta & liked the chemistry between them. Their journey to a HEA wasn’t easy with misunderstandings & secrets plus Edward’s mother seems determined to push her friend’s daughter at Edward. There are parlour games, walks in the snow & kisses under the kissing bough
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This book was an easy read, and although predictable, I still enjoyed it. Our heroine is in her first season, but she has placed restrictions on her choosing a match. She will not be impressed by a title only, and infact since she is a viscounts daughter ,try not to go above her station. The duke in the story meets her in summer, but she shows no interest in him. Her, and her mother get invited to a several week Christmas gathering, along with other gentlemen, and young ladies by the duke's mother, at their estate. During that time their are many fun times, but also times of frustration, and a bit of temper. There are certainly lots of apologies, tears, brooding, and forgiveness. I enjoyed learning about the types of games played at such gatherings, and the decorating for Christmas balls, and other events. It had a happy ending, and came with several lessons about charity, forgiveness, and the true meaning of not only the season, but about a relationship when one is thinking of marriage. I gave it a four stars.

In this charming story mistakes are made, lessons learned, motivations are questioned and feelings are hurt. In the end all will be as it should. This story may well be the best in this series. Very enjoyable, quick read.

Augusta and the Duke . . .

Miss Augusta Moir is attending a party hosted by Edward, the Duke of Meyrick. She had observed that he ignored the tradition of giving gifts to the poor on St. Thomas’ day when he refused to give something to the widows who arrived. (Augusta had no idea that Edward had just had an argument with his mother and unfortunately reacted to the widows out of his annoyance at his mother. Being selfish was not his normal behavior.) When the widows returned, Augusta gave them all the money she had with her, then deliberately stole a lovely figurine of a young woman with a single diamond at her heart – an item that was very important and precious to the Duke -- and gave it to the widows to sell for whatever money they could get. (Augusta may have had a right to be angry with what she judged as his uncharitable choice, but she had absolutely no right to steal something of his, regardless of value, and give it away. That was not hers to give, whether she was angry or not. She should have been put in jail.)

Augusta finally does realize she has misjudged Edward. Will he be (justifiably) angry with her for what she did? Will her actions (deservedly) cost her the relationship that might have started between them? Or will he kindly forgive her for what she did and hope for a HEA for them both?

I love this author’s stories, but the despicable actions of Augusta and her nasty little temper tantrum took all the joy out of the story for me. That judgmental shrew does not deserve any kind of good fortune in return for what she did. Grab your copy and see whether there are any consequences coming Augusta’s way.

A clean story. A duke does not impress a lady, but is invited to his Christmas house party. The duke’s mother has arranged the party which annoys him as does the lady’s indifference.
I found it dragged a bit with neither of them able to actually speak to each other when the opportunity arose without prevaricating, and lots of their thoughts, which was frustrating. Indeed the duke’s mother was the same towards the end of the book. I did not take to the duke’s character either. I also could not understand why the duke was speaking to the widows at the door with no other staff around. I am sure that the butler/footman would have been around and they would have assisted in giving out the largesse. Indeed I am sure for years this had occurred on his estate, parents and grandparents before. On that his mother seemed caring so I am sure he will have seen her and his father distribute monies, and as such he, his mother, or certainly the steward/staff would have arranged for the housebound poor to have been visited.
So a slightly uninspiring story.

Miss Augusta Moir is a person who speaks her mind, and it doesn’t matter who you are. She has been invited to a house party at the Duke of Meyrick’s house and when he refuses to give money to three impoverished widows who have come a second time as they give what they had received from him the first time to shut-ins who couldn’t get out. It is St. Thomas day when the poor seek gifts from the wealthy. Augusta was so angry that she gave what money she had and as she gave the money to the widows, she saw a trinket of the duke’s and gave it to them to sell for the money. After her impulsive decision, she realized she did wrong, especially as she is learning that the duke isn’t like that at all and what happened was unfortunate as he had just had a disagreement with his mother. As he asks her forgiveness, would she be so lucky to be forgiven when she explained what she had done.

An interesting story.
Augusta didn’t dislike the duke she just never saw a reason to expect him to see her as a person. She was just a minor noble yet her family is invited to the duke’s Christmas house party. What happen was that that she started to see the duke in a different light. Edward was attracted to Augusta but downplayed it. When something unexpected happened things spiral a bit out of control and not until the very end was things set right. The main lesson of this tale is be careful of what you do in anger it can back fire on you. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

Miss Augusta Moir is horrified when the Duke of Meyrick refuses to give to three poor widows who came to his door! She rectified it by stealing a trinket from his study and some coins she had! She wasn’t very fond of him before but she detests him now.
I really enjoyed this regency Christmas romance. Rose Pearson is The Queen of Regency Romance. I love all the various fun games that take place at these Christmas house parties. It sounds like a lot of fun! I loved the characters and Duke of Meyrick is the perfect villain! I highly recommend this book and this author if u love regency romance!.

Miss Augusta Moir attends a Christmas house party that is being thrown at Edward, the Duke of Meyrick’s home, a party organized by his mother. An upsetting incident occurs which Augusta witnesses and, in her anger, does something quite unusual for her character. As the house party continues, the Duke and Miss Moir grow closer to each other, but there are things hidden from each other which need to come out into the open. Forgiveness for several people is necessary.

Charming Regency Tale set around a Christmas house party. The storyline is definitely a case of enemies to lovers between Miss Augusta Moir and Edward, Duke of Meyrick. Their initial introduction is unfortunate and results in a mistake that will come back to haunt Augusta. First impressions often change and, as the party progresses, both parties begin to have feelings for the other. Will they be able to overcome their prejudices to reach for their happy ever after? I highly recommend this book.

Her and her mother have been invited to the Duke’s home for Christmas
He is not happy about this party that his mother has organized. And he makes it known to her. In fact he is so unhappy that he takes it out on some poor widows. And she sees this and as she walks by his study and sees he is not there she goes in and steals an ornament and gives it to the women. AND THIS STARTS QUITE A TANGLE, , , AN AMAZING BOOK - AS ALL OF ROSE PEARSON’S BOOKS ARE

Edward The Duke of Meyrick does not want to host a Christmas Houseparty but does so to please his mother.

Miss Augusta Moir is not impressed with the Duke because he refused to give gifts to the poor.

Two couples have already found love at the houseparty.
Will the Duke also find love? Can he redeem himself in the eyes of Miss Augusta?

Rose Pearson always writes sweet clean lovely stories.

“Her Christmas Duke” (Christmas Kisses, book 3) by Rose Pearson
Hot Temper - Cool Thinking
I really did enjoy my time in this story. Two wrongs do not make a right, but they do make a good story. This is a sweet clean historical romance with a Christmas house party and a side of anger management lessons. Happy Reading ! !

I’m afraid I didn’t enjoy this story as much as I usually do with the books from this author. For me, the pace was too slow and there was too much ‘inner thinking’. The setting for the house party at Christmas was fine along with the snow and the games, all gave it a festive feel but I like more action. I know a number of other reviewers enjoyed this story. Really Great Regency Series

I had been waiting for the Dukes story and it did not disappoint. Lady Augusta thought she didn't want to marry a Duke but when she got to know the Duke at his Christmas house party everything changed. He didn't think he was ready for love but when Lady Augusta came into his life he couldn't deny how he felt. These two are just what the other needs but have to find their way to their HEA. A captivating read that I read straight through.

Miss Augusta does not think anyone should be fawning over the Duke just because of his title. The Duke is used to women falling over him. When Augusta spurns his request to dance, he is baffled. When she shows up at his Christmas house party, he thinks to embarrass her but falls into his own trap. Will they overcome the differences they see? Immerse yourself into the house party and find out.

I loved how much Augusta tried to push others toward Edward, but he was stubborn and was able to thwart her. The way they couldn’t help themselves was captivating. I loved how honest they wanted to be with each other, but would that blow up in their faces? I didn’t want to put it down once I picked this book up. Loved all the scenery wish I was a part of it.

He’s a grinch…

Augusta isn’t too keen on Edward. He’s a duke who she believes is out of her reach, so why bother? But it’s off to a Christmas house party he’s reluctantly hosting.

Edward doesn’t care for Christmas and doesn’t partake in the traditions, giving to the poor widows, which causes Augusta to take matters into her own hands, with consequences.
Enjoyed this quick Christmas read.

Loved it! Augusta, disgusted by the Duke's refusal to assist the poor, takes it upon herself to rectify the situation. She begins giving away the Duke's personal possessions in replacement. What will happen when they come to realize a prized possession is now unable to be found? Good characters and enjoyable story. Definitely worth reading!!.

The third and last book in the Christmas Kisses series. Miss Augusta Moir and Edward, the Duke of Meyrick's story. The story has drama, misunderstanding, angst, forgiveness and romance. I enjoyed reading their story with its ups and downs and seeing them get a happy ending. A great ending to this series.

Unsettling

The heroine's aversion to the duke was strange. Once an attraction was established she becomes maudlin and oddly behaved. Then comes a threat to their relationship that resolves , though the ending that was supposedly positive left me feeling that in the real world the relationship would not prosper.

Kind of an enemy to friend read

This was a sweet romance with no bad language or anything offensive. Augusta felt the Duke was full of himself. Misunderstandings increase the tension between them. Slow in spots for me, but I tend to like a lot of action. Only found one error while reading.

Nice ending to trilogy.

Some inconsistencies, in book 2 the house party ran over Christmas and New Year, in this book, looks like it's ending in Christmas day.
In the prologue she is Lady Augusta, by chapter two she is Miss Moir.

Sweet

A very sweet romance. The constant need to explain themselves, yet not being able to, then explaining to the point of beating a dead horse got to be overwhelming and almost ruined the overall story for me.
