Anne Manning, a divorcee and single parent for twelve years, finds herself increasingly unable to control her rebellious fourteen-year-old son, Billy. As a last resort, she reluctantly arranges to send him to his father, Don, for the summer. Despite a tentative beginning, the arrangement is a surprising success.
