“I know who you were then,” he said into her hair. “And I know who you are now. And I like you just fine.”

Sam Fielding has never needed anyone, and she doesn’t plan on starting now—not her annoying siblings, and certainly not the man she meets years after ignoring him and his kind all through high school.
Ty Cavanaugh just wants his kids to feel safe and to have some kind of relationship with their unpredictable and impulsive mother. But every time she comes back into their life, she hurts them, and Ty is getting to the end of his patience. He certainly doesn’t need the mean girl from high school coming into his life and upending all his promises not to think about his own needs.
But when Ty’s ex-wife tries to kidnap the kids and then attacks him at a school event, it’s Sam who protects his family. It’s Sam who steps up and takes them on her journey back to New Mexico to get away from Julia. Could it be Sam who, despite her past and her free-spirit attitude, is the perfect woman for Ty and his children? And can Ty teach Sam that there are men who can be trusted?

The Fieldings are a fantastic series and I've loved everyone that I have read so far. Although this is a rich family, with lots of privilege, their lives are far from perfect and it's this that makes the stories so interesting and readable. In this latest book, we follow the story of Sam Fielding and her developing relationship with Ty. The two went to school together, but there Sam was a member of the popular group of girls, who made everyone else's lives a misery. She didn't actively bully anyone, but instead took the pain of the loss of her parents out on everyone else by ignoring anyone that she didn't see as being part of her gang. Years later, she's a changed woman and one of those that she treated badly, Ty, sees her in a whole new light.
Much of this book focuses on domestic violence. Ty's ex-wife is abusive. Both physically, but perhaps even more importantly for Ty, emotionally. He carries the scars of what this woman has done to him and it shapes his growing relationship with Sam.
I really enjoyed this story. Both the way that it dealt with the problems that Ty and his children are facing and the growth of his and Sam's relationship. This was more than a simple boy meets girl and falls in love romance. Most importantly of all though, it is a great read.

Those who’ve followed me long enough know that #domesticviolence is a subject matter I take very seriously. This book not only puts a unique perspective on those escaping abusive relationships, but it does so in a responsible, sensitive manner. It does come with appropriate CWs, so make sure you check those accordingly.

Here’s the official blurb:
Sam Fielding has never needed anyone, and she doesn’t plan on starting now—not her annoying siblings, and certainly not the man she meets years after ignoring him and his kind all through high school.

Ty Cavanaugh just wants his kids to feel safe and to have some kind of relationship with their unpredictable and impulsive mother. But every time she comes back into their life, she hurts them, and Ty is getting to the end of his patience. He certainly doesn’t need the mean girl from high school coming into his life and upending all his promises not to think about his own needs.

It’s Sam who steps up and takes them on her journey back to New Mexico to get away from Julia. Could it be Sam who, despite her past and her free-spirit attitude, is the perfect woman for Ty and his children? And can Ty teach Sam that there are men who can be trusted?

My Thoughts: This one fits squarely in the #allthefeels category. The author crafts heartbreaking, yet realistic scenes between Sam and Ty’s children, particularly Alyssa (the youngest). Traumatized, she’s desperately seeking a “mother figure.” Readers get some touching moments where the teen learns how to apply make-up. But we also get to see the flip side: the rejection and angst stemming from the fear of opening one’s heart (something Sam understands all too well).

Julia is terrifying. But, I think this was necessary because it is so very rare that abusers are portrayed as female. Unstable, she completely disregards both child custody and restraining orders (as, sadly, happens many a time IRL). She attacks Ty in public and, because of the role reversal, instead of helping him, onlookers actually take their phones out and record the incident.

As for the romance aspect, Ty and Sam make a sweet pairing. Two sides of the same coin, they compliment each other perfectly. The forced proximity of their cross-country road trip adds to the slow burn.

Thank you to the author and publishing house for the Advance Copy. These opinions are my own and are being expressed without bias.

I have become a fan of this author and series by receiving some of the books in ARCs from Hidden Gems. I enthusiastically requested this one because I was anxious to read the story of Sam Fielding as she was introduced in prior books as one of the sisters of the Fielding family. Reading the earlier books might help to understand the family dynamics, but since Sam is the Fielding who has left Massachusetts and has a life on the other side of the country, she is very independent of the others.
Sam returns to her family for her sister, Thea’s wedding and is reintroduced to high school classmate, Ty Cavanaugh. Ty is now a divorced, single dad, but has not forgotten Sam’s treatment during his high school days. From the description, she was a bit of a “mean girl”, but with the understanding of her family life, it makes sense that a hurting teenager might act like that. Ty’s current issues are around his ex-wife, who has a lot of issues and tries to kidnap his children. As they get reacquainted, Ty and Sam come to terms with the past and look to how they might move into the future together.

Stand is book three of a great series that I am enjoying very much. It's an absorbing, emotional story of a former mean girl, Sam, and one of the people she was not so nice to, Tyler. Sam carries a load of guilt for how she treated people in high school which is one reason she lives thousands of miles away and rarely comes home. It's been fifteen years and Tyler hasn't forgotten and he is definitely not pleased to see Sam when he runs into her with his kids, but with a dangerous and unhinged ex on the loose, he accepts Sam's help when it's offered and an attraction blooms.

I have read all three books and I still don't completely understand the reason for the pricklyish relationships between the Fielding family members but I do really like the stories and I think the slow burn romance between Sam and Ty was pretty believable. Book one, Breathe, is probably my favorite of the series, but they are all good reads with interesting characters and compelling plots.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Stand is the third book in The Fieldings series and this family just keeps getting better and better. It’s Samantha aka Sam Fieldings’ turn at love and she and Tyler Cavanaugh have quite the emotional journey.

Sam and Tyler have history since they knew each other in high school and what started out as an awkward encounter, lead to something memorable. Even back then, there were sparks between them. After being away for years, Sam returns to her home town to attend her sister Thea’s wedding. When she runs into Tyler, it’s clear that their attraction to each other never died. Tyler is a great single dad of two kids and it’s unfortunate that his ex wife is an absolute psycho. This crazy lady really puts all of them through the wringer and because of that, Tyler and Sam have an uphill battle.

Stand has wonderfully written characters (especially Tyler) with an engaging and heartfelt storyline and I recommend reading it.

Round three of Fieldings and I have to say I do like Sam's book a touch more than Thea's (book 2). Sam is an archaeologist used to digging up the past as long as it is not hers. She would rather avoid the hurt and pain she felt and inflicted in high school until it stares her in the face.

I did enjoy this book and the bit of suspense included. There was nothing more than kissing described so if you are a pearl clutcher, you are safe with this book - however - there is a trigger warning in the book description as well as in the beginning of the book. Thank you to the author for including those since being blindsided by certain topics can usually lead to DNFs for some readers.

Stand can still be read as a standalone. It's not necessary but I would suggest reading Kane's story (Sam's brother) in Breathe if you want more family background first. This is a voluntary review of an advance reader copy.

This book is a little outside my normal, but I enjoyed it.

The book takes a little time to grab your attention, but once it does you feel the emotional pain of Ty and his kids. Ty’s ex wife was extremely abusive and he and his kids are once again impacted by her actions. Sam is courageous and willing to step up and help Ty which both surprises and confuses him since she was a mean girl in high school.

The storyline is very angsty and delves into emotional wounds and making amends for past hurts. Ty and his kids journey with Sam on a road trip to New Mexico and the trip is cathartic and emotionally intense as they travel west.

Ty and Sam both develop an emotional connection that is as much from their togetherness and what they experience as it is the physical attraction that burns between them.

I received a free ARC from the author and Hidden Gems and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Stand is Sam and Ty's story. She was one of the mean girls in high school and made Ty's life miserable back then. They have reconnected in adult life, and it is her that comes to Ty's aide from his ex-wife when she tries to take the children and attack Ty. This story hints of spousal abuse but instead of it being the woman it is towards a man. It is a touching story that drew me in and had me all caught up in Ty's and Sam's relationship as they build towards forever!
It is a well written book with dynamic characters that I found myself connecting with and cheering for. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.

A new author to me. This is the 3rd book in The Fieldings Series. The characters include Sam (a former mean girl) and Tyler, (one,of her prior victims). Sam is remorseful for her previous way of life and Carrie’s a lot of guilt over the way she mistreated her fellow high school friends which is the main reason she lives thousands of miles away and rarely comes home. Flash forward 15 years, and when Sam sees Tyler, he’s not forgotten, especially when his children are with him. Tyler has an ex who’se out to cause harm and he accepts Sam’s help. During these moments, feelings star.

There are so many emotional moments of ups and downs that I was riveted! Don't miss her series. Each book is outstanding!
