Self-appointed hall-monitor of life, Milly Smartt is ready to take some chances and live life balls-to-the-wall. After all, it was her sister’s dying wish for Milly to chase happy, which is the only reason she accepts a dare to kiss a random stranger in a bar. Only the stranger isn’t a stranger at all—in fact, she’s pretty sure it’s her childhood crush, Lucas Macintyre. And when one kiss turns into a passion filled night, Milly couldn’t be happier—until she discovers she slept with Jaxon Macintyre—Luca’s playboy of a twin brother.
Professional snowboarder and self-proclaimed bachelor, Jax Macintyre has a gold medal in one-night-stands. No fake promises, no morning after, and definitely no meeting the family. Only when Milly’s parents stage a surprise visit, he’s caught with his pants down—literally. He’s ready to climb out the window if necessary, when Milly introduces him as his twin brother, Lucas. Even worse, she panics and, rather than come clean about their no-strings fling, she tells her parents that he’s her boyfriend. Jax isn’t looking for a plus-one in life, especially a too peppy, too sunshiny, hopeless romantic who wears Mr. Darcy lingerie. But when he finds himself in a logistical nightmare heading up a snowboarding competition for his family’s lodge, he approaches her with a proposition. He’ll go along with this faux-mance until her parents leave town and, in exchange, she’ll help him plan the perfect competition.
How hard can it be? A few appearances, maybe a date or two, easy-pesy. Only once word gets around that they’re dating, everyone has an opinion. Milly’s mom is practically planning the wedding, Jax’s family is inviting them over for dinner, and his siblings are finally seeing him as a reliable part of the lodge’s team. Then after an impromptu kiss intended for show, the fake begins to fade into something more real. Only Milly’s parents are leaving town, the event is coming to a close, and Jax is ready to jump back into the competition circuit, rendering their deal unnecessary. Will they abide by the original agreement, or will they chase happy?

I am always frustrated having to shelved book under DNF. Faux Beau promised a laugh out rom com. Instead I can not even relate to the writing. Too many characters. Too many conversation that distract me from the main plot.
I read until half of the book then finally give up.
What was the last book you read that you wished would never end?
FAUX BEAU (Sierra Vista Series #1) by Marina Adair (book review) 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My thoughts: No contest, FAUX BEAU is the most impressive romance I reviewed in 2022. It will be available on January 5th and is the perfect way to start the new year. I was captivated by Marina Adair's sense of humor, warmth, and compassion while reading her words. The book is hysterical and heartwarming from beginning to end. I look forward to continuing the Sierra Vista Series with Second First Kiss. Don't miss this outstanding novel. It's the idyllic setting for a cozy smile!

Thank you Marina Adair for sending me this touching book. Your kindness is appreciated!
The only nice thing about this book was the cover.
First of all, the third person pov felt extremely forced and unnatural and the narrator was SO excessively bubbly throughout the whole book. I had to skim through so many lines, even paragraphs, to get to the dialogues. Why was this much description needed? And by description I am not talking in the sense of delineating objects, places, character's appearance etc. I am talking about excruciating boring three person monologues, giving completely trivial details that added nothing to the story. Or even when they were "supposed" to do that, I couldn't give less of a crap.
Which is the second huge problem I want to address. From the first 2-3 chapters there were so MANY characters introduced, and especially when it's 3rd pov it is EVEN harder to keep up. Plus, why the heck should I be intrigued from this early in the book about all this family drama? It was so so so incredibly boring and overwhelming and I didn't care whatsoever about it. And if the author did want to include all this, then she should have at least given some time for the readers to connect with the main characters before dumping a bunch of side ones!
Here is where the third problem comes in. The book was around 250 pages. This is insane considering the amount of all the scenes that didn't concern the relationship between the two main characters and, hence, I didn't feel a bit connected to them.
Now, I will say that the story had a great potential. But it just wasn't exploited properly. I mean, I was drawn by the concept and the characters had chemistry so I think that the overall mistake was the way that it was written. Thus, please don't waste your time by reading this.
Just thank god I read that book online and didn't waste any money on actually buying it.
DNF at 50%- don’t get me wrong there were some great and funny parts in this book and I can see why people like it but I just found it a tad boring and it seemed quite predictable in places
Ahh I just adored this one you guys, it was so good. Based on the title alone I had a feeling I would, fake dating is my favorite and I loved that Milly and Jax’s one night stand turned into a fake relationship. This was so flirty and fun and have a little something for everyone. There’s a grief element as Milly processes her sisters death, there’s family drama as Jax figures out his place in his found family and there is plenty of sexy chemistry between the two. It’s also super funny and charming and reminded me a lot of Jill Shalvis, so if you like her books try this one!
This is such a wonderful and heartwarming romance. I loved both Milly and Jax and was so happy we got both of their POVs. They each are going through their own issues before their fake romance starts. Jax hasn't been home in a year since his argument with his twin brother and he needs to find his place within his found family and their family business. Milly is mourning the loss of her sister. There is a case of mistaken identity involved (that I am super happy was cleared up right away) and one night of sexy times that turns into fake dating. Milly and Jax have amazing chemistry and it was fun reading their story. The secondary characters were all interesting and I look forward to reading their books, too.
Thank you to the author for my advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A fun, steamy, fake dating romance set in a small mountain resort town that sees Jax single-handedly trying to save the family ski resort while also getting wrapped up in fake dating Milly, the girl he had a crush on since childhood who has always been into his twin brother and who is grieving her recently deceased sister who died from cancer. Full of heart and humor, hot sex and lots of emotional depth. This was a pleasant surprise and was also good on audio too narrated by Piper Goodeve. I'm excited to read the next book in this new series asap!
It was going to be more stars purely for the fact it was getting me out of a book slump. And this was the first book that I've been able to read in a week that hasn't completely annoyed me.
At least up until the final chapter. It was a waste. It was nothing. It gave nothing. It was an utter disappointment. There are no words for how much the ending had annoyed me.
In terms of writing not bad, not juvenile and childish as you would see with self published authors. There were quite a few spelling and grammatical errors but ignore able for me.
I want to read Kats book but I have a feeling it's going to to have an unsatisfying ending like this one.
Anything would have been better than this ending.
He should have died on the slopes She could have died Her dad could have died The pony could have died, given birth, found love. I could have read a whole chapter on that pony and it would have been a better ending.
this review is gonna sound so mean and i did actually finish the book however the way that she had absolutely no idea which twin she was interacting with for 28% of the book (actually more than that since the book finished at 84%) blows my mind and i could not get over that. it's not even like they're identical and she couldn't tell because they mention that there are distinct differences between lucas and jax AND she grew up with them but apparently only lucas can wear professional clothes and loafers

I usually love books about snowboarders… this is not one of them. You don’t even see Jax snowboard once on page.
This book could have been good, but the writing was off. I also didn’t find there was chemistry between the two MCs.
Major pet peeve: 27 is not “end of career old” in snowboard. Mark McMorris is 29, Max Parrot is 28, Seb Toutant is 30, Jamie Anderson is 32, Anna Gasser is 31. All have won medals at the latest X-Games and at the 2022 Olympics.
It wasn’t terrible until I realized how long they had been together when they said i love you’s and the fact that she states him breaking up with her is more depressing than the death of her sister

I finished it in one sitting, no regrets... I saw a tiktok about this book and knew I had to read it. I'm so glad I did!! I loved it! I was so hooked from the start knowing this had a fake dating trope (which is one of my faves) and it did not disappoint!
I enjoyed the story line immensely. The main characters had incredible chemistry from the start and I fell in love with everyone else in this story. I'm usually not one to like the kind of book series that follow different characters in every book, but I can't wait to read more about this family! It also has the right balance between sweet and spice that one doesn't overcome the other.
The only thing stopping me from giving it a five star is the fact that it was a little too fast paced for me, a little too instant love. I wish there had been a little more time for this two to fall in love. But if that's what you're into and you like fake-dating this book is totally for you!
It was adorably cringe until it was just cringy, which was about half way through. The story line was nice and kudos to this author for their work. But no. So much didn’t make sense and there were a lot of grammatical errors that I couldn’t let go of because it came off as trying to sound good but it wasn’t…
The “climax” did not give. Like Kendall at the Schiaparelli show, it was underwhelming.
I have read way worse so that’s it. I have nothing else to say.
While I did enjoy this, there definitely should have been some groveling from the MMC. He hurt the FMC much in the same way her ex did (self-admitted in the book) and yet she just takes him back without hesitation. I also didn’t like the end scene because they had literally no privacy. Plus, there was no epilogue at all, and so it didn’t feel like there was enough resolution.

I really enjoyed this newest book (and first in a new series) from Marina Adair. I love a fake relationship trope, so I knew right away this one was going to be for me. I’ve come to expect fun, small town romance series from Marina Adair, and she definitely delivered once again. This first book introduces us to the new town of Sierra Vista and the folks (and potential future couples) in addition to our main couple, Jax and Milly.
I enjoyed seeing Jax and Milly’s story unfold from one night stand, to friendly faux-mance and more. I always enjoy how Adair’s books balance the romcom, light vibe with some heavier topics woven in. It was good to see Jax working through his abandonment issues and Milly working through her grief. I’m really looking forward to the next book and finding out more about Kat and Nolan in the next book.
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an early copy of the book!
mistaken identity, one night stand, friends to lovers, fake relationship rom com with a happily ever after. 🥺
this book had me crying and laughing all at the same time! Milly Smartt returns home to Sierra Vista to go through her deceased sisters, Zoe’s, things and a one night stand with who she thought was with Lucas Macintyre turns out to be his bad boy twin brother Jax.
Faux Beau had me hooked from the beginning and I could not put it down!
I love that reading it on kindle gave us an option to read the bonus epilogue/chapter as well. Had me sobbing (in a good way) all over again. 🫶🏼
This book was for a buddy read last month, so my review is posted super late 🙈 we actually did a Q & A over zoom with Marina, and she is the sweetest!
so so so excited for Second First Kiss, and I hope we see a little glimpse of Milly & Jax as well. 🫶🏼
*3.75⭐️ Entertaining, sweet and fun are some of the words that come to my mind when I think of this book. This follows milly and Jax who have a one night stand but then she lies to her parents that they are dating when they get caught, with her thinking he is Lucas, his twin brother. This had a big focus on family for both characters which I definitely enjoyed but sometimes dragged on for a bit. One thing that irritates me is when characters have to give up something, and this happens here. I just find it upsetting that they have to make hard choices, I would just personally like it where everything works out for them.
TIKTOK LIED…. AGAIN. The quote from TikTok that convinced me to read this was “in” the book except like the entire rest of the book had a million useless details between the dialogue. If the excessive details between the dialogue wasn’t annoying enough, there’s about 5059848393 characters in the first half of the book.
Also, it’s my fault for picking a book so obviously surrounding skiing but I am so over authors giving us pages and pages about useless details regarding the snow/ski lodge. All of it, stop. I know snow is white 😭
I’m so incredibly thankful for the author sending me a gifted copy of her novel!
Fake dating is my jam and this cozy little charmer just had my heart. It made me chuckle and fall in love with the characters, even the secondary who I hope get their own books eventually. The setting made for the perfect winter read. Faux Beau is heartwarming, sweet, and fun.
Such a cute heartwarming story, I was hooked from the beginning that I finished the book in one sitting.
The character have really good chemistry, I came across a video on TikTok about this book so I decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint. Although, I am not a fan of the third person POV.
What a cute little fake dating rom com! I laughed a lot, got teary-eyed a little, and genuinely enjoyed this couple and this world. I'm excited to see where she takes the next couple!
There were a few typo/grammatical errors, but easy enough to overlook and not distract from the book.
It was actually promising in the beginning, and cute story. Some of the characters are just kinda weird for me, like her so called friends, the whole town actually lol.
