The power of the five realms flows in Rob. He must master it before he’s destroyed.
Rob has learned how to reach for each type of essence he possesses, but most require outside help. As the danger of the Eternal intensifies, he knows the key is in awakening the rest of his essence—only he’s not sure how to do it.
Time becomes the enemy. Fearing a return of the Netheral, along with the renewed attack from the Eternal, Rob must connect to his power.
This time, progression might not be enough as a power beyond his comprehension awaits.
Bit Too Much Abstract Introspective Philosophy in Series
Series is not that engaging unless you are into inner moralistic monologue debating. Personally I think such interludes should be kept short in fantasy stories. Maybe 3-5 sentences for serious moral quandaries were practical issues conflict. Those internal moments of debate should also be kept infrequent except during chapters were intense direct character to character conversational struggle is occurring (negotiation, debate, argument, blackmail, etc).
Unfortunately the author favors extensive internal debate about metaphysics and morality during combat, emergency travel, and other danger - thus interfering with the action. I am not sure if it's just the author dumping a stream of thought about every writing decision related to main characters in order to document and avoid interrupting the flow of the writing process. But I highly suspect it's mainly a way of pumping his word count for payday. In the end it probably doubles word count and takes the story down at least 1 star for being tedious and diverting from actual story events.
I think from the next book on I will start reducing 2 stars for long tedious philosophical diversion. It's just wearing me down and making me serious consider not following the series further.
This was probably the best one yet in this series, the moment where everything was linked by a thread that was about to be snapped clean and then the awareness of what they needed to do, it also featured further progression on a surprising character, and two major MC, unfortunately progression only left more questions than answers, there are ways to "level up" and it is not the same on every individual, these types of scenarios was what made the story better and more mysterious, does progression on a character in a different way, make them the same or was it better???
Have not felt this type of excitement since starting this series, and now it is becoming better and wonderful.......
I really enjoy reading these books, and I can't wait for the next one! Rob has fought and fought to protect everyone in his realm, and all the realms, but every time he progresses to a new level, the dangers seem to increase exponentially !!! Serena finally has progressed too, and she and Rob have a deep connection, and she finally has the confidence and strength to see her mother for what she truly is. They still keep searching for the answers to how to progress and deal with all the threats they all face. Highly entertaining and recommended!
I’ve been following this series since book one. I find it a fascinating read, but there are issues. First, I don’t know who did the proofreading and editing, but I think they need a little more education. There are words missed in sentences, and many of the sentences just don’t make sense. Second, the hard action literally never seems to stop, we never experience any of the characters have a moment to sit back and chill, have a beer, take a breather, it just doesn’t stop. All that being said, I will continue with this series. Looking forward to book 10.
DONT BOTHER irritatingly repetitive, littered with grammatical errors and all manner of mistakes. Poor character depth and many aspects of the storyline that just get dropped. It all could have been so different as there is potential for a good plot here. Can't help but to suspect this is some kind of AI program. It also ends up costing a lot to read this ultimately poor story. I'm off to read some Robin Hobb who is a genius storyteller!
These books have been a fresh outlook on dragon lovers. There are no riders, but the power of the dragons is strong. Rob has the ability to draw the power of all dragon types, or does he even know all the dragon types, and will he have the time to learn them before it is too late?
Congratulations to D.K. Holmberg and Dan Michaelson for this amazing series. Ibt’s extremely hard to find such interesting and exciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book!
The storytelling continues to be great in book 9, but the editing and proofreading are non-existent. There are several occurrences the sentences are completely unreadable.
PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE PROOFREAD YOUR WORK BEFORE PUBLISHING! It really detracts from the story and has me thinking twice about finishing the series.
Starts off much slower than the others in the series so far, but once it gets underway it’s non stop drama. Still having issues with the proof reader’s abilities and editing. But really enjoying the series.
I am enjoying the plot, but it gets harder and harder to put up with all the typos and mistakes in the way sentences are worded. It takes two or three times reading a sentence to understand the context sometimes.
It just never ends. Only now instead of just Rob having the internal crisis, he's got Serena doing it now as well... I pray the authors do something good with all the other characters soon. It's getting too boring.
But disappointed a bit. Much too much of the same. Editing poor some sentences muddled or don't make sense. I have loved this series. Hopefully dragon rage will be as good as previous to this.
Story line is entertaining but lack of proper editing made it difficult to read at times. Not sure if it’s cost effective to fix but if you could would be nice.
