For seven years Silas Knight has been focused only one thing: finding his daughter. He didn’t have time for relationships, and he certainly wasn't looking for a mate. But see… fate was a tricky thing. The one thing he’d been avoiding was the one thing he would have to do to keep his daughter with him.
Mila Meyers has been focused on only one thing for the past four years: keeping her daughter safe. She was a widow, so relationships were the last thing on her mind. But then she ran, quite literally, into a man…or rather shifter who would change all of that.
The solution to both their problems lay in each other. Could they put ego and mistrust aside to do what was best for the child? Especially with the threat of old enemies looming…
Dria Andersen is a full-time photographer, mother of two, and lifelong storyteller. After the birth of her first child, she made a promise to pursue her dreams boldly-starting with writing the kinds of stories she always wanted to see in the world. That leap of faith became her debut novel, and she's been writing ever since.
Dria crafts love stories that center brown girls with heart, strength, and agency. Blending romance with elements of fantasy and wonder, her books invite readers into richly imagined worlds where anything is possible and everyone deserves a happy ending.
Mila has been on the run from her child’s biological family and has settled into a new town when she bumps in to Silas. Mila has immediate attraction to Silas and Silas feels the same but there’s one slight issue. Silas has to make sure he gets his daughter back after her being taken away 8yrs prior! Also did i mention Silas is a shifter and so is Mika’s daughter 😬. This story was so good and had me wondering when the Robinson’s were coming, when Silas and Mila would act on there attraction, and how Silas’s relationship with his daughter would play out with everything at stake. Lee land and Samantha were trash and got what was coming to them! The knight family was everything and the way they showed up for each other was refreshing to see. I loved the shifting scenes and even Silas daughter Ya-Ya showing signs of her panther within! There was so much to love about this book and I can’t wait to read more! The epilogue was so sweet!
i’ve been working my way through dria andersen’s catalogue and this is my favorite book yet! i didn’t realize how entertaining shifter romance was until i started reading dria’s books.
silas + mila’s love story was so beautiful. the banter between the two had me kicking and giggling. i also really enjoyed to see silas finally get the chance to be the father he yearned to be. this was really good book, not a dull moment to be found.
Make me a panther shifter today! Please and thank you LOL. Loved this book. Not as much as the first but still good. Silas is a beast and such a sweetheart. This family is really top notch and i love their bond. Getting to read the relationship grow with him and his daughter was everything. That little girl was pulling on by heart strings. Dria almost had me in here crying. Silas and Mila had some heart baby. The only thing i wish they had built their romance a little more before the point of change. The epilogue was so beautiful and warming. Can’t wait to get into the rest of the series.
Highlights: -When Silas hemmed Leland up at that meeting. -“I wish the fuck you would. I promise you don’t want your smoke.” -Dallas ♥️ -“the security you need, the love you crave; i can give you all that shit mila. Just give me your heart and let me worry about everything else.” -“oh, dont worry, I’m finna fuck you six ways to sunday. If you can walk in the morning, then we’ll start over.” -“He touched her chin and turned her head to him. “”I’m a lot of shit, mila. But a pussy i ain’t never been. I would never do no cowards shit like that. Every motherfucker i been after had known who came after them.”
“Security not here for us, playboy. They here to make sure my brother don’t blow your shit back for messing with lil baby.”
This quote had me WEAAAAAK, because “blow his s**t back” HE DID 😂🤣!
4.5 ⭐️ After looking for your daughter for seven years, you finally find her & fall in love with the mother who adopted her! That pretty much sums up the story.
Silas Knight was ENERGYYYYYYY! The relationship that developed between Silas & Mila was beautiful! However, the relationship between Silas & his baby girl Sariyah TOOK THE CAKE!
I love this family! The way they STEPPPPPP behind each other, BAYBEEEHHHH!! Dria Andersen did her GOOD WRITING in this series HANDS DOWN 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾!
I’ve been waiting for this book since I finished To Her Rescue and it was absolutely worth it!!! I received an ARC of this book and literally finished it the same day. Dria has a way of drawing you in so quickly and that didn’t change with this book. Silas has been searching for his daughter, Sariyah, her whole life and happens to run into her as she and her mother are walking through their store. That’s how the story begins and it doesn’t slow down from there. Mila, Sariyah’s mother, has been on the run from her husbands family. The twist is Mila and Silas don’t know each other. Things take off pretty quickly from there and we didn’t have to wait a long time to have all the questions answered. This gave me everything I wanted in a shifter story. The chemistry between Mila/Silas was building from the beginning and watching them both try to fight it was fun. Riyah is adorable, I’m a sucker for children in books and this was no different. I feel like with each Dria Andersen book she continues to build on this world that she’s created and it there are layers uncovered that make it feel real. I loved the found family aspect of this book and I hope we get more from this family! I will say make sure you read To Her Rescue first, it just helps fill in some of the details about the Knights.
Silas’ main focus for the past seven years was finding his daughter. A mate was the last thing on his mind. He didn’t expect to kill two birds with one stone when he found his daughter Sariyah and develops an instant attraction to her adoptive mom Mila. Silas’ unwavering love for his daughter touched my heart. Time and distance did nothing to diminish his deep affection for her. I like that he didn’t bulldoze his way into their lives. He waited until they were comfortable with him spending time in their space before he attempted to build their bond. Riyah didn’t waste time wrapping him around her fingers and transitioning into a complete daddy’s girl. The author definitely nailed the found family aspect in this book. The way they came together was so seamless, it was hard to tell that their connection was new . As usual, the family dynamics are stellar, it wasn’t hard to see that Knight family goes hard for theirs. It was inevitable that Silas and Mila would be together. However, I felt their romance took a backseat to politics and drama. I would’ve loved to see the romance and her transition as a shifter developed more on page. I do feel this book was better than that first in regards to the shifting, but they both felt rushed. Overall, “For Her Safety” is an enjoyable shifter story and I can’t wait to see what else the author has planned for this universe.
I don’t care which one, I just need one of ‘em. The giddiness I feel when these men talk. The plot was a little deeper in this book and somehow I was confused on who was in the very beginning but, overall, another incredible story. I love how the mates are just perfect for each other but add something to the family. And it is something so beautiful about the way these men love on each other, making them shifters so that the affection is basically biological is so, perfect.
4.5 Silas’ focus for the last seven years was finding his daughter, finding a mate was the furthest thing from his mind. When Silas finally found his daughter he never expected to find a woman he couldn’t stop thinking about. Mila’s only focus was protecting her daughter for the last four years, while on the run from her daughter’s maternal family members. After Mila’s husband died she was left alone to care for Sariyah but when she ran into Silas she couldn’t stop the thoughts that invaded her mind constantly. With Silas and Mila now forced to be a part of each other’s daily lives they try to suppress the feelings they have for each other, but they are willing to do anything to protect Sariyah even given in to the inevitable.
Listen @authordriaandersen gave me everything I have been waiting for since reading To Her Rescue (book 1 in the series). Silas was everything, he didn’t take anything from anyone but was so compassionate and caring when it came to his family. I loved the bond Silas and Sariyah had and enjoyed reading about the development of their father/daughter relationship. Sariyah was blunt and straight to the point and it was so dang on cute. Mila was a great additional to the Knight family, I loved her strength sis didn’t back down from anyone not even Silas.
I was happy to see Silas and Mila adjust to their situation very quickly and that there wasn’t any unnecessary drama. I also liked the progression of their relationship; it was nice to see their coparenting situation evolve.
As usual the Knight family was amazing, the way they loved on each other and protect one another showed in this book just as much as book 1 and I loved it.
I received an advanced copy of this novella in exchange for an honest review!
If you want low angst, no internal conflict, Black love, safe shifter stories, these are just perfection. I love single parent romances where both parts of the couple are actually the parent, biologically or not. I also really love when the couple’s parents have the same type of relationship as the couple, I love seeing that protective, worshipping love in a couple that’s been together for decades.
Here’s another shifter romance that I’m absolutely here for. I’m happy for Silas. Found his long lost cub and the love of his life in one fell swoop. Time to go see about Rocco!
Oh Silas is just as blunt as Mason. He finally finds his missing daughter and his mate along the way. I really enjoyed how the shifter law making in the background. I wonder if this was an Easter egg for what's to come. I think Silas and Mila's story was really grown up. They really put Sariyah's needs first. She was such a grown little shifter 🤭 I'm pretty sure she would wear me out.
One thing there were parts that read really repetitive (Silas ran his hands down his face) and then there were location changes that were a bit jarring. The mediation made up for that but then the challenge was really anticlimactic 😕 I was expecting something similar to The Alpha's Affair.
3.5 stars
CN: spousal death, poison, foster care, adoption dispute, Sanctuary city discussion for shifters
Thank you to the author for sending me an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
The fact that Mila is human meant that Andersen had to take her time with this one in a way she didn't with To Her Rescue. To this book's benefit. Though of course Silas had his moments, the possessiveness and miscommunication were kept to a minimum, especially since both he and Mila agreed their daughter was the priority.
I do wish that more attention had been paid to their transition from co-parents to mates. Especially given the change it necessitates in Mila. And the way these characters speak about and treat the violence they commit continues to feel a bit too cavalier at times.
I also can't deny, though, that this propensity for violence opens up interesting avenues for the author to explore in future books. Especially with the glimpses we're getting of the dynamics between the representatives of the different animals on the shifter council.
Typically I require a lot more depth, exposition, and certainly a lot more pages in uf/pf books to really connect with the characters and the world in which they live. But without fail now, Dria Anderson has been able to fully pull me in and make me root for these characters in 200 pages or less and I don't really understand what it is about her writing that just WORKS.
In less than 200 pages I feel like I know Silas, Mila, and Sariyah. I LIKE them all. I'm invested in their story, I understand their world, family dynamics, swag, attitudes, motives, values, all the things. But like...HOW!? I don't have the answer. Dria has just been able to very easily and effortlessly draw me into this world and these characters in a very succinct way.
Even the side characters! The next book is about Rock - who I feel like I know and love and have literally only read him speak 3 lines of dialogue in the entire book. CRAZY! But I guess that's a testament to Dria Anderson's pen. I would LOVE to see what she could do, how crazy she could drive me, with a uf/pf book that was the typical length.
On to the next! Excited to see what Rock has to offer to the world of the Knight Brothers.
This was a cute short story about about a single mother on the run and a man searching for his daughter. An interesting found family dynamic. “Ain’t no sense in me lying to you. You need to know what kind of man you’re stuck with.” Tell her Silas! I enjoyed this book more than the first. It definitely had more paranormal aspects than the first book but I still stand on the feel that this series just so happens to be in a paranormal setting. Because the book is short, it’s hard to develop all the feels and romance. It’s somewhat rushed and thrown together. Making the fight an even competition was laughable because Silas was yolking Leland up from the start. Overall, a good enjoyable read.
Florida is not the east coast. A few minor mistakes. Sometimes the author wrote as if Sariyah had previously been in the Knights lives, when they had never known her.
Silas was a childless father. He knew his daughter was out in the world but he didn’t know with whom and where. He’d been searching since he found out about her but no success in finding her. His panther was agitated to say the least. Mila was a widowed human woman with an adopted panther shifter child. They were on the run from her deceased husband’s family. As fate would have it they run into each other and their lives are changed forever. Silas isn’t loosing his daughter ever again and whatever he has to do to keep her in his life he will do it. There was an undeniable chemistry between Silas and Mila. Silas was an amazing man and father. Mila was a protective mother. The daughter was too cute. I enjoyed reading about them and all of the drama that ensued.
This was a well-written short novella. I appreciated how the author handled the child separation, family reunion, and co-parenting. These issues were done in a considered and logical way. Silas was a great portrayal of a lead romantic character, a great father, and a great partner. Mila was also a great adoptive mother. Silas' family handled the difficult situations admirably. Also, the conflict and resolution was reasonable in the context of the story.
There were some drawbacks to the story. For example, Mila's character acted in some foolish ways that seemed contrary to her character and story development. Also, the portrayal of Silas' and Mila's initial mating needed further development and context.
Mila Meyers — recently widowed and on the run — is just trying to protect her adopted panther shifter daughter, Sariyah, from the girl’s biological family. While out shopping, fate literally puts her in the path of Silas Knight, and from that moment, everything changes.
This story beautifully captures a father and mother’s love, instant attraction, and the power of found family. It shows just how far parents will go to protect the ones they love.
Mila is the epitome of “you know what, hell yeah” — strong, brave, and willing to protect for her child no matter the cost.
And can we talk about Adina Knight? She doesn’t play about her family! I definitely need more of Adina and Dallas’s story.
This might be my favorite series right now. I took a little break from shifters and this took me right back to why I love them so much. I've been buying shifter books again ever since I read the first book in this series. The Knight brothers are my favorite kind of male leads and they are book husbands to be honest. Low-key they're dad is one of my favorite characters and I wonder if we'll ever get a Dallas story. No pressure, but I would definitely buy it. I love the female leads in this series too and just the whole family vibe. This is a family that I definitely can root for and I know that this will be a series that I reread frequently.
Okay. So the Knight Brothers series was my first time reading Dria Andersen. Both of these books were sooo good! Both Mason and Silas were major book baes. I loved the Knight family’s closeness and togetherness and the way they held each other down and welcomed new members in with so much love! These characters, all of them were so believable and relatable. Even being shifters. I love a good black shifter romance so much and this one checks all my boxes! The only thing is I wish there were more brothers so we could have more books in this series!
Silas finally found who he was looking for and then that package came with another he didn't see coming at him like fate intended. Throw in a triffling in-law family that just wants to stay doing the most and the Knight family has to do something to show them why Dallas knight sits at the Motsi council and not them. I loved the romance explaration in this book. The big focus of the found family and the growth of both sides after that meeting. I loved how The Knight family embraced Mila and Sariyah and how the family love just expands with them in it.
I really enjoy Dria Andersen’s writing. Her novellas are well paced and fleshed out perfectly. She gives enough insight into the characters and world building to keep her reader interested. Then she wraps it up neat and succinct. Great “palate cleansers between longer reads. (Although I would love to read a full-length novel by her.) This book is about he oldest of the Knight brothers, his mate and their family. You learn more about him as well as the Knight family bond. The heat is just right, too.
I loved reading about Silas and Mila. Great story like book 1, sexy scenes, great dialogue, etc. I also loved having family members as the bad guys, but there were some continuity issues in book 2, such as Iris, the "other mother" who wasn't even in book 1 and it wasn't explained until the end of the book who she actually was and Celine's nickname went from CeCe in book 1 to CiCi in book 2. Other than that, things moved along at a swift pace. I'm loving those Knight boys and can't wait to read book 3.
Silas Knight has been looking for his daughter. Mila Meyers has been trying to protect hers. What will they do when the key to their goals is each other?
This series reads quicker than I expected, but I am enjoying it still. The Knights are definitely the type of family that I’d like to see on TV.
If you like adoption, Marriage of Convenience, and scheming families, then this is for you.
If you know me, then you know I love me some Silas Knight and the 2nd book in The Knight Brothers series did not disappoint.
Silas has been looking for his daughter for the last seven years. Imagine his shock when he accidently runs into her while she is out with her adoptive mom Mila Meyers. Silas is anxious and wants his daughter back but he also wants to know who Mila is and how his daughter came to be with her.
I've been patiently awaiting Sila's book and Dria Andersen did not dissapoint. What I loved so much about this story was Silas and his love for his daughter. Dria Andersen be having me out her swooning tf out her male characters, bish I just be out he fainting lols. But in all seriousness, how Silas moved in FHS when it came to Sariyah was amazing and I appreciated that the author focus a majority of the book in the building of a relationship between them. This moves into the relationship he develops with Mila. She has her reservations about Silas coming into hers and her daughters lives but Mila refused to keep a father away from his daughter. But agreeing to raising their child together brings on thoughts and feelings Mila can't hide. Silas is fine af and once she finds out the attraction is mutal...honey! I loved them on page together, they had great chemistry and Mila along with Sariyah fit right in with the Knight clan.
The family dynamics in Dria Andersen books is always top damn tier. You know you are getting black ass families and the Knights even though they are royalty in them paranormal streets, they were not below tearing a whole town up about family. I love it! I enjoyed that we got to see Siriyah's grandparents and uncle/aunt love on her as well. It was great dipping back into these brothers "whore pants" wearing selves.
I high key you get this book in your eyeballs when its release on 12/22...
Thank you so much to the author for the the opportunity to read/review.
The second story was as impactful as the first story. The family first and everyone else's needed to get in line was made clearly in this second story. I was so happy Mason found his baby girl. Having found Mila too was an extra bonus. Silas is still my favorite Shifter. I really enjoyed this story. Try it, its good stuff.
Silas was thee man. I loved how he would do anything for his family. Them other grandparents was the worst! They already knew the Knights was nothing to play with and they still tried them. Mason is still my Panther baby and I know them children is going to be nothing to play with, with the big cousin being the ring leader.
I’m moving there to’ find me a shifter…..this a good end to the 2 book series. Loved that this family was loyal/protective with one another but it is always somebody wanting what you have. Why did the Robinson’s want YAYa so bad what was their gain I need answers or another book would be nice ….Dria Anderson did a good job writing this series will be following
