“Savannah might have stopped asking for divorce papers, but I haven’t stopped proving to her every day that we’re meant to be”
The story is about savvy and matteo who are childhood soulmates that have always loved one another but Savvy doesnt want to go past the best friend base because she doesnt want to ruin their friendship. Matteo on the other hand has other plans he is ready to wait an eternity for the girl that he loves on a night out savvy tells matteo to marry her and boy was it the best day of his life until the next day she says it was a mistake and wants a divorce which he would rather die than lose her as his wife
Matteo is the definition of knowing what he wants. The way he always knew that savvy was the one and just did not give into her for a divorce was the cutest. What I LOVED THE MOST WAS HOW THE VALENTINOS MADE SURE THAT HE DIDNT FORCE SAVVY TO MARRY EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE In LOVE you hardly see that in mafia romances which is super annoying because it’s always the I know you want me even if you say no .
Savvy was a strong female lead who wouldn’t cower away she gave Matteo a run for his money and their friendship was everything like how they’d never ever miss a phone call or how they lived near by it was soo cute because it was genuine from both sides.
The best part was when Matteo got her an orange bed just to wind up savvy as she hates the colour because of him 😂😂
It’s a short but cute read even shorter for me because I skip the spice but if you love that then you will like this book. ❤️❤️❤️

In the first book of this series, we find out that Matteo and his best friend get drunk in Vegas and get married.
We see the ''spare'' brother of the Valentino family and his best friend since he was 6 years old. Savannah and Matteo have been friends for so long and in love with each other in secret (but not really). She has a lot of reservations about confessing her feelings or even allowing them to become a reality. She fears allowing this to happen and then ends up losing him to the mafia's violence.
Despite the fact that these two love each other and have for years they have been with others and even Matteo said he has ''fucked around plenty'' though never had a relationship with anyone nor slept with the same women twice.
I should also mention that when they were 15, they made a pact to lose their virginities to each other and they did but she ran off before the morning came and ended all potential romantic relationship between the two.
They are friendship goals though, never spend a day without speaking to each other. They are real together and it's effortless.
These two go to Vegas for a weekend (friend’s wedding) and get drunk and get married themselves. We also know that Matteo has been basically asking to marry her for years and has had a marriage certificate for a long time (that he renews).
She of course is NOT happy with her drunken decision and demands a divorce which he will never give so they work on attempting a relationship/marriage both knowing they are madly in love with one another, and this is the right path.
His family knew all along they would end up together and I appreciated the fact they were worried he tricked her into the marriage and wanted to know she had an actual choice and was not forced.
I think the book had so much potential, but it felt like I was missing something, but I cannot pinpoint what it is.
I do wish that Matteo had NOT been a manwhore during the years he LOVED her cause to me it diminishes it (but that is just me) Though I do admit there was the scene where Savvy is missing and he cannot find her for days, he truly is in pain and even admits that he will follow her in death if she has died.
All and all the ending bring them officially together and, in the epilogue, they have children.

I stumbled across Kylie’s books through TikTok. I started with the merge series and I haven’t look back since.
Where do I start with this book? Oh I know I absolutely head over heels ADORE Matteo & Savannah🥺. Matteo & Savvy are childhood best friends so yes this is a childhood friends to lovers story - honestly I love this trope so much, the fact you connect with someone so early on in your life and that they turn out to be your soulmate.
Matteo is an all out SIMP for his woman, like absolutely swoon. Yes Savvy is in love with Matteo but she guards hear feelings because she doesn’t want to ruin years of friendship if they didn’t work out (which yes is completely understandable and relatable). I couldn’t stop laughing at the fact Matteo brought a marriage license to Vegas because he knows Savvy is the girl for him😂
The chemistry between this couple is absolutely beautiful and hot Damn the SPICE👀
I am looking forward to reading about Romeo & Livvy’s story 🫶🏼

OMG, I love Matteo so, freaking much. The way he was 110% sure that he and Savvy would be endgame was great. He was so sure that he was willing to feel the wrath of Savvy when she found her guest bedroom redecorated in orange. A color she hated but only because it reminded her of Matteo.
Once Savvy gave into Matteo it was game over. This is when the fireworks started, and boy was it HOT. I could not get enough of them. The texts between them. If I had to have someone boss be around, I would not mind it being Matteo.
I can't stop reading these books fast enough. I am barely trying to recover from this book and already I want Romeo and Livvy's story now.
Once Savvy gave into Matteo it was game over. This is when the fireworks started, and boy was it HOT. I could not get enough of them. The texts between them. If I had to have someone boss be around, I would not mind it being Matteo.

The hero has always wanted to always marry her, I mean they lose their v card to each other! However most of the book deals with the heroine’s insecurities, drama, sex, more pushing away by the heroine and eventual HEA.
Also why did they sleep with OP if they loved each other so much?

Matteo and Savvy, wow. This was everything and more then what I was expecting, it’s a very well written friends to lovers and quite funny as well. I loved the new characters we met and I hope we have a chance to see them more in the future. The story line does overlap with book #1 but holds a different POV and doesn’t make you feel as though you’re rereading which I appreciate. If you’ve loved Kylie’s previous books in this world this is an obvious must.

DNF 50% I just really dislike the h. She comes across as a bitch. Don't really understand her reasoning for pushing him away. They been bff since they were 6. They love each other. She's scared something will happen to him so she can't be with him. Even though they're just friends it would still hurt. He pretty much is begging/ forcing her to stay married after a night in Vegas. She asked him to marry her and then leaves him the next day. I just can't stand her.

This was significantly better than the first. (Although the bar was low in the first place so idk). Again the writing and story telling was okay but the plot was actually good. It had the potential to be better but I won’t complain because ….well what’s the point ?

Merciless Devil was fine. Matteo carried this story. Savvy drove me batshit crazy with her dumbass reasons for pushing Matteo away.
Matteo should have bulldozed his way right into her life years ago but they decided to play the fake friend zone couple. You know the couple…I don’t want them right now but no one else can have them.
Whatevs. This was good but not great. The first book in this series was MUCH better.

I actually really enjoyed this book. I know I liked the first one too but I honestly cannot remember it. Mateo is literally everything!! Ahh! I loved his character so much. With that being said I didn’t like Savvy at all. She wanted Mateo more than anything but she was such a bitch to him for the entire book. It isn’t until the end that she realizes how stupid she’s been. Honestly if Mateo wasn’t as great as he was I don’t think I would have liked the book as much because Savvy would have ruined it for me. Other than her, the story was good and writing was great. I’m looking forward to the next one!!

I skipped to the end just to review. This book is so annoying! Savannah is absolutely ridiculous. Matteo is great, of course, but this book left a lot to be desired. I had to force myself just to get halfway through it. I just couldn't stand another half a book of the same stupid back and forth.

DNF @ 40%. I had high hopes for this book since I liked Theo & Maddie’s book so much, but it wasn’t what I expected. If you’re like me and miscommunication/no communication trope really grinds your gears do not read this it was so frustrating. They’re in love with each other but the h keeps coming up with stupid reasons to run away from him and pretend they’re just friends it’s so brutal.

I just want to formally announce that Kylie Kent has become an instant read/instant buy author for me. Ever since I started reading the Sons of Valentino series, I've loved her writing and can say that these books are some the BEST mafia books, especially for those who are just now starting to read in this specific genre.
I absolutely loved reading Relentless Devil and enjoyed Theo and Maddie's story, BUT something about a best-friend-to-lovers trope just GETS me. Plus add a little bit of chasing because the FMC felt too much, was scared, ran away and YOU'VE GOT ME HOOKED.
I loved Matteo and Savvy. I think their dynamic was very relatable, if you've ever been in love with your best friend. I also connected with Savvy a lot. I think she self-sabotaged a lot with the what-ifs about her potential relationship with Matteo. I loved how Matteo never gave up.
A lot of details/aspects of this book had me INHALING this book in less than 24 hours. Have I seen similar things in other books? Yes, I think we all have. However, the execution was really well written and I loved, loved, loved how Savvy was the only one for Matteo. None of the former gf B.S. that we often see in other writings.
I loved how everything was just right for these characters, even though the FMC was the main one trying to not make it happen. Like idk what's wrong with Savvy, I most likely would've folded immediately. However, I completely understood the reservations and see how the FMC's thought process was.
I really loved this story. I'm a sucker for these kinds of stories even if they're written 1,000,000 times in slightly different ways. We also get a bigger glimpse of the family and what everyone is going through. We also see some new couples and how they'll be seen in future books.
The spice was good, and there was one scene that had me clenching my thighs. No shame, just facts. I even was trying to picture the scene in my head because I live for visuals.
Ultimately, the ending was so sweet and I loved their happy ending. It had me kicking my feet in the air and stuff.
I know that not everyone will agree or may have differing opinions about this book, but personally, this has made its way to my favorite reads of 2023. I seriously cannot wait for the rest of series to come out!

Absolutely delicious and devious.
A convenient marriage licence, Vegas wedding with an Elvis impersonator a run away ‘wife’ and demand for a divorce, a pair of handcuffs and endless orgasm’s an absolutely fantastic well thought out plan what could go wrong!
Matteo the 2nd Valentino son a self proclaimed merciless enforcer and a ‘spare’ to the heir his elder brother Theo. I easily got swept away with Matteo and Savvy’s story he has this impulsive wildness about him and for me his character easily engulfed me compared to Theo although passionate was just to controlled and controlling which of course he needed to be given his role in the family.
Savvy was just as spunky in character as Matteo but whereas Matteo believed a HEA was inevitable; from the age of six! Savvy was consumed by doubts and fears of the risks of believing they could have a HEA until she was forced to face these fears because of unforeseen circumstances. Their love for each other was never in question it was steadfast and true from the beginning.
I love the interactive journey that continues with the Valentino family Kylie seems to effortlessly weave a back and forth relationship throughout the novel so readers can experience a new adventure whilst remaining connected as a whole to the Valentino clan and series which l absolutely love. The interplay of the characters and their own stories interact beautifully whilst giving you a whole new journey with Matteo and Savvy.

Savvy was consumed by doubts and fears of the risks of believing they could have a HEA until she was forced to face these fears because of unforeseen circumstances. Their love for each other was never in question it was steadfast and true from the beginning.
I love the interactive journey that continues with the Valentino family Kylie seems to effortlessly weave a back and forth relationship throughout the novel so readers can experience a new adventure whilst remaining connected as a whole to the Valentino clan and series which l absolutely love. The interplay of the characters and their own stories interact beautifully whilst giving you a whole new journey with Matteo and Savvy.

Each book that deals with the Valentino family just keeps getting better and better. Ms. Kent outdid herself with Merciless Devil, a best-friends-to-lovers romance that will have you falling in love with Matteo and wishing that Savvy was your best friend, but also yell at her to stop with the what-ifs. The two of them are definitely soulmates however, due to Matteo's family business, Savvy cannot let her heart love him more than a friend. Matteo is bound and determined to make Savvy his wife and one weekend away in Vegas see just that happening, but will Savvy want out? The connection they have is one that you cannot refuse to see and accept. Savvy would be all over being his wife if it was not for the danger that is part of his life. Will he come home after being out doing his job? The push/-pull relationship they have is too funny at times but it is also perfect. To see two people who truly love one another and will do anything for the other person, like Matteo and Savvy, well it was incredible.
There is so much more that I want to say but I do not want to include too much as it could contain spoilers. I will say that this book will have you binging it in one night, falling in love with Matteo and Savvy as well as excited for the next one in this series. Although Merciless Devil is a standalone, I would suggest reading Relentless Devil as well as the Valentino Empire series.

Review on Merciless Devil by Kylie Kent

Merciless Devil is the second in a series (Sons of Valentino) that is a follow on story-line from Valentino Empire series by Kylie Kent. The books in the Sons of Valentino series can be read as standalone’s or as a series with or without having read the predecessor series Valentino Empire. I think that the story is easy to follow and I enjoy that you can be invested in the story-line without being overwhelmed by this super intricate and complicated world. It’s set in a modern day American mafia world with basic conflicts between rival mobs which doesn’t takeaway from the core, which is the romance. This book is palatable and easy to digest which I love as its easy to fly through and just have a good time in between those long Mariana Zapata books and those heavy dark romance books.
Savvy and Matteo’s relationship is a best-friends since childhood to lovers and I was all here for it because I love this trope. I really enjoyed the mental setbacks that Savvy was having about getting into a “more serious” relationship with Matteo. They had cute little nicknames for each other that no-body else used which made me giddy smile. Seeing them come together was gorgeous.
The smut was, as per usual (thank you very much Ms Kent), brilliant. I didn’t cringe or feel the need to skim read which honestly doesn’t happen that often, there’s almost always one scene in a book that I skim of cringe my way through but not with these books.
A couple of set backs about this book, the reason I dropped a star. I was a little disappointed about how long and how much the “we can’t be together” was present in the book. Granted it was very one sided, but there wasn’t anything actually standing in their way other than themselves? I know this isn’t a big thing but it just got to me a little bit, which I honestly think is more on me then the book. I also wish that it hadn’t taken place at the same time as the first book, again this is a me thing not actually the book but it was just something that hindered my personal enjoyment a little.
Other then this I enjoyed this book so much it was so fun and I can’t wait to continue the series.

The next generation is just as much fun as the first 🔥
The Merged series was my guilty pleasure, and a series I reread often. I have loved each of the books and series that have followed. I’m thankful for all of the kids (and so many sets of twins!) so that hopefully I won’t have to say goodbye to this world any time soon. This time we have Matteo (Holly and Theo’s son). As the second son, he’s the “spare” but no less loyal or committed to his family. And just like the men in the books before him, he falls head over heels for his woman and has to convince her they are meant to be. It’s so delicious every time.
Matteo and Savvy have been best friends since 6 years old. They both love the other, but Savvy works hard to keep them in the friend zone. She is terrified the life his family lives will take him from her, and she will be left devastated without him. When her mom died, her dad turned into a bitter cold alcoholic who basically abandoned her. One drunken night in Vegas ends with them married, and Matteo is not going to let her run this time. I struggled with Savvy at first, because her “I love him but I don’t want to lose him” bit was getting on my nerves. I cannot imagine how poor Matteo felt after all those years! He was no monk, but he was absolutely certain he was going to marry her someday. I can’t wait to watch the other brothers meet their match as well.

Oh lordy these Valentino men just get better with each installment. I mean possessive and adorable yet down right scary to anyone but their lady / family.
Kent really delves deep with the friends to lovers angle and boy is it hot and unique.
Matteo brings a new charm and a new aura to his book. Savvy brings a new brand of female. I was absolutely enthralled by this coupling. The push and pull gave me whiplash (in a great way!) Although, I have never wanted to smack someone in one breath, cuddle them in the next, before giving them a healthy dose of reality as I did reading this.
I also laughed so, so many times, the heart ache (at times) felt so real, the mafia element so bestly woven and the charged chemistry...Woah!!
Just when you think the stories cannot get more beautiful and more captivating...here comes another to throw you for a loop...bring on the next Son if Valentino... I'm ready... Well I will be when I clear my schedule the day of release for it...yes it is safe to say I am hooked.

This book had at me hooked from the very first page! Kylie Kent delivers yet another extraordinary and spicy book! One thing I have come to adore about the Sons of Valentino are the women who capture these men's hearts! Strong and fierce with an undying love that consumes them mind, body and soul. You will experience a roller coaster of emotions reading this book.
The love that Matteo and Savvy share is one that has gown from best friends to intense lovers. These two soul mates would die for each other. To see their love grow into a marriage filled with passion takes the readers on one steamy and thrilling ride!
I loved seeing the entire Valentino Family throughout the book. Pops, Holly, and the brothers proved to be the strongest support system for Matteo and Savvy. We see that they love both of them so very much.
The epilogues at the end were perfection! I cannot wait to read Romeo and Livvy's story next!

Matteo & Savvy!! I don’t even know where to begin, the relationship these two have is something amazing and wholeheartedly beautiful. They have been friends forever and while both of them want the exact same thing (to be together) neither of them wants to make the first move and ruin what they already have. Their love story was written in the stars the day these two met way back when they just needed time to catch up. I love how Tao never gave up on him and Savvy and how he refused to give Savvy a divorce. He was there to fight for them 110%. This story was nothing short of epic from beginning to end and I loved every minute. These sons are something else and I have to say they might have a leg up on their father and who ever thought anyone could one up the infamous Theo.

Oh Matteo you gorgeous leading man, how your determination made my heart melt.
I cannot get enough of the Valentinos, whether the first or second generation. These sons definitely follow in their dad's footsteps with their dogged dedication to winning over their women.
Equally as entertaining to read is Savannah with her sparky humour and resistance to Matteo's charms. These two are lifetime best friends and they are truly two parts of one whole. Matteo is just there waiting in the wings for Savvy to catch up.
This has a gorgeous foundation of friendship. These two are already dependent on one another and their drunken marriage just finalises their bond. It is a brilliantly entertaining, heated and love filled story. Savannah doesn't take any nonsense from her lovesick alpha and their romance is all the better for it.
