Can you fall in love with a ghost? That’s the question facing Wilbur Philpott, long retired and lonely in a loveless marriage. He’s happiest giving tours of Witch’s Point Lighthouse, and listening to Susannah, the resident ghost, as she whispers in the wind whipping through the old landmark.
Wilbur is inextricably drawn to the spirit who begs him to free her from the lighthouse. When Susannah reveals that their lives are linked in the past, and can be joined again, it becomes an easy choice between the wife who hates him and the ghost he’s convinced loves him.
Susannah promises her heart to the lighthouse keeper, but can Wilbur trust her and sacrifice everything to find love at last?
This was a fun little novella. Lighthouses and ghosts, what can go wrong, right? Wilbur is taking care of a lighthouse he purchased after retirement much to the displeasure of his wife June. He thinks the ghost of a woman who was shipwrecked many years prior is wooing him and decides he is the reincarnation of her husband, the ship's captain. Perhaps being stuck in a loveless marriage is driving Wilbur to insanity, perhaps he is destined to be with the ghost Susannah. Only through everything falling apart will Wilbur discover what is still standing and where the truth lies.
Want a supernatural tale with twists of romance and hate. Look no further. R.W. Harrison does an amazing hob at setting the scene and developing the characters in this tragic story. Wilbur is the owner of one of the last remaining manned lighthouses, but this Lighthouse comes with its own ghost story of a couple who died because of the previous owners drunkeness. The lady who passed now lingers here waiting for her love to join her, this love being that of Wilbur. But Wilbur is married, although to a very horrible woman. He now has the choice to leave his very much alive wife and join the woman who promises him love. Short read fabulous for a stormy night.
I am currently reading this book now but it has me at the edge of my seat. The author is amazing with making me feel like I'm inside the story. I don't think I've read anything so graphically Grabbing. I will update this when I finish it. It's always exciting to find A new author that I look forward to Reading more of. Far and few between these days so I am in enlightened with the fact that I found this book. I hope that all is work is just as amazing
Wonderful, quick read written by my friend R.W. Harrison. He always hits every detail, making you feel like you’re a part of his story. You can truly hear the hatred Wilbur’s wife has been growing and festering toward him, it truly makes you feel bad for him. So while it may seem impossible for a man to be compelled toward a ghost, it’s so believable based on what a good soul Wilbur has! Highly recommended for a nice palate cleanser.
a paranormal tale based on an old lighthouse which becomes haunted by the dead of the sea, or at least one lady that that became ship wrecked along with her husband. A tale of a man just wanted a nice quiet life on the coast in his lighthouse with the woman he loves, but which does he truly love, his wife or the spirit who claims to have been his wife in a past life? A heart breaking tale.
