I didn’t get to be the head of the Di Salvo crime family by showing mercy. Just the opposite, in fact. Until I meet her. Thalia.

My girl witnessed something that could get her killed, but it’s my job to protect her now. She’s not just a loose end to tie up, she’s a shy, curvy goddess with a silent strength she’s not even aware of.

In my line of business, love is a liability. A weakness. Yet, every day Thalia is under my protection, I’m drawn closer to her warmth and soft-spoken words. This woman might just be my salvation.

When our enemies come knocking, I’ll be ready to scorch the entire earth if it means keeping Thalia safe. They have no idea who they’re messing with.

*The Di Salvo Crime Family Series has everything you’ve come to love about Cameron Hart books: Lots of heat, plenty of sweet, OTT alphas, and the curvy women they love. No cheating, safe, guaranteed HEA!*

I miss Cameron's mafia books and I'm so happy she's back writing another family!!

Let's say Thalia was in the wrong place wrong time when she went to be a good sister and ended up seeing something she shouldn't have seen cue head of the family Romeo who already has this spark forming when he heads about Thalia, now his head and heart are fighting when he brings her to his home to keep her safe. As for Thalia even if she been burned and had a crappy life she still trust Romeo with her life. It takes them a few mins before he says screw it and keep her even closer from the dangers.

We also see some side charas I can't wait for the next guy just from the little sample of it.

I’ve read everything I need to know that this is one of the worst books I picked up in 2023.

The search for a really good mafia romance continues 🤪

Hot. Like, really hot, plus some good sweet thoughts from a very growly, alpha, Mob boss about his adorable woman.
Exactly what I needed right in this moment.

The overall story was good. Romeo was a likeable mafia boss and I liked that he trusted his instincts. However there seemed to be an excessive amount of time taken to explain how he was acting out of character when it came to Thalia.
Thalia's character took time to get used to. I don't want to give too many spoilers but minus her actions in chapter one (being still and not making herself known) and the end of chapter 11 (fighting to get away) I couldn't relate to her. She did a lot of things that I don't think the average woman would do.
Now the Colombos. Their had to be someone smart in the organization but whoever that person was didn't train the guys in the story. I mean who takes a hostage without checking them for weapons?
Again the overall story was good but with a few tweaks I think it could really soar.

Did the cringe use line of "little girl" make me despise the mc, yes.

Was there some funny lines that I wanted to annotate, also yes.

Like many people that have reviewed this book, found the duo has zero connection , I felt that too, particularly the whole instant love/attraction thing, nah ah.

Romeo has a fascination with someone younger than him (we never do find out how much, though it's indicated it's a gap). Which is fine, if he didn't see her as an innocent "girl" and actually talked about obsession with the 'vixen' more to the audience. Thalia on the other hand has what is similar to a high school crush on a man with authority. The spicy had me facepalm, instead of my usual enjoyment and suspense.

I think the heartwarming scene where she hands him the handmade skulls and he shows he has this softer side ,was adorable. I wish the novella built and developed scenes with emotions like this one (perhaps longer in page length ). Felt way too far paced, with barely a transition period (only an interlude) for wanting, to seduction to eventual love. You know what I'm saying, it lacked the in between that would have made this story gripping.

Overall, I would have fancied seeing the difference with the other 3 novellas in the series.

Oh gosh I thought I love the Moscatelli men ,but holy heck Romeo is *chefs kiss* Romeo is the head of the DiSalvo family and it's hard and alone to be on top, always afraid to let somebody in. Thalia is living with her kind of closed off and estranged brother. When she one night sees what happens with him... Her whole life changes. She now has to hide ,but where ?? Romeo sees Thalia for the first time and is instantly smitten and obsessed, but he tries to fight his feelings because of his upbringing and his life in general. But the sweet and sassy Thalia cracks this hardened mob boss and gets all of him...😍 Instalove, sweet, steamy, romantic, with action and with an awesome HEA 😍😍😍😍 I can't wait for the next DiSalvo man to fall hard and fast for his woman 🥰🥰🥰

Idk what it is, but this novella didn't work for me. I find some of the lines a little bit cringey and it kind of takes away the current mood I have going. Also, the insta-love didn't resonate with me. Usually, I don't have problems with instant connection. I've been reading novella back to back to back, and each time the story still hits the spot. However, for some reason that I can't pinpoint, the Insta-love here didn't work like I would hope so. But that can be a me case and other readers might find this their cup of tea.

A little background, Thalia saw her brother get murdered and she was scared for her life. Romeo is the head of Di Salvio mafia, and they are currently working with the guy that was killed along with Thalia's brother. Thinking she's a loose end and their enemies would look for Thalia too, he decided to go after her, cuz he couldn't stomach hurting innocent and for unknown reasons he felt a pull with Thalia, despite not yet seeing her. He went to the apartment and got interested in her. He brought her to his house and within a week or probably less they were already falling in love with each other. Idk, I just didn't feel that emotional connection. 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, some action and suspense happened, because of course this is a mafia romance. He saves the day and they finally get their HEA. Like I said, this book didn't work for me. I think the only part I love here is the crochet part, since I'm a crocheter myself 😅 Ooooh before I forget, I have to give credit to the smut scenes, they were good but at times a bit awkward too, not sure how to explain that. Overall, this is still an okay read. My first book from this author, and the first in the series. Maybe I just have to read the succeeding books to know if each story would get better.

What the ??????

This doesn't read like a Cameron Hart story. It's not believable. It starts out interesting and then ...... it's not. Romeo is protective of a woman he's never met or knew existed. 🤔 He is the Don and he goes to bring her in. 🤔 Hmm. Feels an instant connection. She gives him her V card after 2 days being in his home and spent little to no time. I couldn't finish after 70% because it became more unbelievable. Sorry this wasn't for me.🧐

Romeo

I LOVE Romeo and Thalia together. They are so cute together. I swooned so many times while reading this book. I don't know why I started the series with Armando but I need to read all of the series again. I'm in love with these Mafia men. If you love mafia romances with an ott mafia man and his curvy girl, you will LOVE this book.

This was so surprisingly sweet in the best way! It was tender romantic and just the right amount of violence danger and sadness. It was Sexy and cute! Just really loved it from beginning to end. And these aren't usually things I would normally say about a mafia romance. But Romeo definitely lived up to his name if not surpassed it in great ways. Amazing couple!

Wow....I'm not normally a picky book person who tears apart the plot and the writing but this book was pretty terrible. I found myself laughing out loud and visibly cringing at some of the lines. It was a 3 hour audio book and the author tried to cram so much in it seemed ridiculous.

I don't know why but I just couldn't get invested in this one. The drama was boring, and Romeo and Thalia were too "perfect". Aside from her tstl decision at the end.

Romeo

HERO /HEROINE
-Romeo the king of the mafia. Isn’t interested in finding love, ever.
-Thalia was abandoned by her parents and shoved on to her much older alcoholic brother. She doesn’t have much going for her other than her considerate heart and her small knitting business.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
Romeo stole the show. He was so sweet and kind. He kept his control and cool around Thalia. He was harder when walking to his men but every time he spoke to Thalia his voice was always so strong, steady, and caring. She brought out the smoother side of him.
“You need never fear me. I am a powerful man, yes, and the commander of a mighty army. But I will only ever use my strength to keep you safe. Do you believe me?”
Thalia had him from the very beginning too. Right when he saw her he was dunzo.
Why do I have the sudden urge to burn the whole fucking world to the ground if it meant she never had to shed another tear?

“It’s my honor to lay down my life for you, my queen,” I vow, sealing my promise with a kiss on her forehead. “You don’t owe me anything, angel. You give me everything just by breathing, by existing, by finding me worthy of your care.”

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE
Thalia was sweet, sure, but she cried so much. She was a sobby mess and it doesn’t add to a romance story tbh. Also, she went and got herself kidnapped on purpose and she doesn’t have a lot going on up there.
The email. I should have known it was a trap.

FAVORITE QUOTES:
OMG the moment she knit him two skulls facing each other, one with a scar that matches Romeo’s and the other skull had a crown of flowers to represent her. SO FUCKING CUTE. And when she second-guessed the gift he wouldn’t let her take it from him. He is so cute.
“They’re mine,” Romeo grunts, closing his hand and yanking it away from me so I can’t reach it. “I’m keeping them forever.” This man. Even when he’s being ridiculously sweet, he’s still a growly beast.

“Tried protecting you from myself and my life.”
“You can protect us from everything else in this world, but I want to be the one to keep your heart safe. Don’t hide from me anymore,” I whisper, my eyes locking with his.

SAFETY
SEXUAL HISTORY:
Thalia is a never-been kissed virgin and Romeo has been celibate for a while. Not sure how long but when he meets Thalia he gets hard and he mentions how it’s been years since he’s ever risen to the occasion for a woman.
CONDOMS:
No
TUMMY BUTTERFLIES:
3 /5 I’ve read hotter romances by Cameron Hart but this was still sweet. Surprisingly the sweeter moments gave me butterflies and had me kicking my feet.
“Let’s wash the day away. Wash everything away until it’s just us. Just you and me, my precious Thalia.”

This is the start of the Di Salvo Crime Family series each book can be read as a standalone but crossover through the characters so I recommend starting with the first book in the series but not needed. Thalia sweet, innocent in so many ways yet intelligent hasn’t had a great life born to her parents late meaning her only brother was two decades older, her mother left when she was five leaving her with a father who didn’t want her making sure she knew it every day, and at the age of 17 she was dropped off with a brother she didn’t know so to say her life was a bed of roses would be grossly inaccurate yet through it all she loved her brother. One evening when he forgot his lunch she decided to take it to him in a very bad area but arriving instinct telling her something is wrong she is hiding behind a garbage dumpster when her brother and his boss are murdered in front of her leaving her to try and accept, comprehend, and figure out what to do next. Romeo sexy as all get out head of the Di Salvo family ruthless when needed, rules with an iron fist so upon hearing there was hit done on the man who heads up the Union of course he is on top of it and finding out about the sister to the other hit he knows he needs to bring her under his protection never realizing that one act of kindness (yep kindness with a motive) would change both of their paths. The attraction is instant, the pull between them can’t be ignored no matter how hard he tries to do the right thing and the moment they both decide to give him all bets are off but things are so smooth sailing especially when she is kidnapped by a rival family and held in order to trap and kill him but she turns out to not be a wall flower but will he get to her in time, will she save herself, and can they find their own form of happiness?.

Thalia has been living with her brother not out of choice but when her father dumped her on his doorstep, he let her stay. Little does she know that living with her brother could actually be her ultimate downfall especially after she witnesses his murder, she knows that she is in danger just by living in his home, but she has no where else to go. She never expected that the head of the Di Salvo family would be her savior but that is exactly what he promises her when he finds her scared and alone, she trusts him without reason. He is unlike any other man that she has ever met and finds herself falling fast and hard for him. Can she really trust him to keep her safe or will she just end up just like her brother, is this the man that can love her for who she is?

Romeo Di Salvo is a name that strikes fear into the hearts of most men, he is control of his own destiny so when not one but two of his men are killed, he knows that trouble is coming for him and his men. Speaking with his second in command Dante he learns that one of his men that had lost his life had a sister living with him and for some reason even though he knows the danger that he is bound to be walking into needs to find out what she knows. One look and Thalia and he knows that she is the one woman in the world that he was meant to find, and he needs her under his protection fast. But his life is a world of danger is he really prepared to risk it all for love and who exactly can he trust?

I am a massive and I do mean a massive fan pf this author and this was an engaging read, there was no way that I wasn’t going to read this book in one sitting and who needs sleep anyway. Highly recommended read 4.5* awesome stars.

Romeo is the head of the Di Salvo crime family, and the last thing he wants is a relationship. His life is busy and dangerous, and he has his hands full fighting a rival mafia family that takes up all his time.

Thalia is living with her older brother until she can get her business off the ground and live on her own, out of the bad neighborhood where they currently live. Little does she know that he works for some shady people, and when she goes to see him at "work", she is in the wrong place at the wrong time, making her a target for a mafia family that her brother stole from, and now her life is in danger.

When Romeo hears that a low-level mafia thug was caught by his enemies, he learns his younger sister might know too much; they need to find out what she knows before the rival mafia family gets to her first. From the moment he sees Thalia, his life is changed forever.
Take her, protect her, keep her.
He tries to stay away while keeping her in his home compound, but he can't. She has melted a part of his cold heart that he forgot he had. Now all he can think of is keeping her safe and making her his.

A simply wonderful read, great characters a Mafia story with love and determination between them

Thalia had simply been going to the place her brother worked as he had forgotten his lunch and in-stead she had found a murder scene, she had discovered that her brother and his boss had stolen money from the Colombo goons, they had paid for this with their lives.

Romeo Di Salvo had heard of the attack and the shooting and knew that there would be more behind the story and this was what had taken him to Thomas’s apartment where he had found an Angel, she was the dead mans sister and she was obviously in shock.

Thalia had been in shock and she was in a terrible situation, Romeo had just spotted the man from Colombo’s goons so that means that he is there to kill her and he cannot allow this to happen. Romeo feels something for this beautiful woman and as he learns about Thalia and what had happened at the plant she has a strange affinity for Romeo Di Salvo.

This is a wonderful story and I guarantee that you will love very moment of this book and I hope that there might be future books in this series.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

This is a classic Cameron Hart book. So if you're already a fan you'll love this one and if you're new get ready for a sweet, steamy and dramatic ride. Romeo takes Thalia into his compound to protect her after she witnessed her brother being murdered. Things move fast between the couple because it feels right between them. They were made for one another! Thalia is strong, quick on her feet, has a knack for unconventional weapons 😉, is sweet and full of love. She would make a great wife to a mafia don. The epilogue is perfect! ❤🥰😊

“It’s my honor to lay down my life for you, my queen,” I vow, sealing my promise with a kiss on her forehead. “You don’t owe me anything, angel. You give me everything just by breathing, by existing, by finding me worthy of your care.” 🥰

"I love you with every ounce of my being. You already know I’m obsessed with you, but I don’t think you understand quite how much. The thought of losing you… Jesus, it hurts. Don’t ever leave me again. I mean it, Thalia. I couldn’t survive.” ❤😊

I am leaving my honest review for a complimentary copy of this book via the author.

This is the first book in the new Di Salvo Crime Family series and it's starts out on fire. Thalia witnessed something she shouldn't and is now alone. Romeo, the head of the Di Salvo Crime Family investigates what really happened to an associate of the Family and he learns there was a witness, Thalia. When Romeo sees Thalia a protective instinct ignites in him and it's something he's never felt before. Promising to keep Thalia safe from those that consider her a loose end, Romeo is now fighting a pull he's never felt before. Determined to keep her at arm's length is a fight Romeo is quickly losing.

Thalia has been pushed down quite a bit in her life, but that doesn't stop her. She's got a quiet strength and it's not long until Romeo sees that and wants to keep her. She brings peace to his chaotic life, along with her acceptance and love. And when these two come together? Their passion is on fire! I cannot wait for Dante's book!!

This is book number 1 of the Di Salvo Crime Family series and focuses on Romeo and Thalia. After Thalia witnesses her brother and another man get killed, she is terrified and is unfortunately in a dangerous situation with other people out to get rid of her. Romeo is a mafia boss that was working with the other man that was killed. After his death, Romeo has this strange feeling that prompts him to go check out Thalia himself and it leads to him discovering feelings he never knew he would have for another person. While protecting Thalia from the danger coming for her, they end up falling hard for each other pretty quickly. They have an undeniable connection to each other that leads to them finally having what they had both been missing in life. This was a great story and a great introduction to the series.

Romeo Di Salvo is the head of the crime family and he has earned his reputation but when he finds out there might be a witness to a crime involving some of his men, he has the instinctual need to take care of the business himself. This turns out to be the best decision he has made in a long time because it brings him to Thalia’s door.

Thalia witnessed the death of multiple people, including her brother and she knows that she is the next one to meet their fate. So, when a man shows up at her door offering her protection she takes the chance. After all, she feels this strange pull toward the man. But will she be able to handle all that is this mysterious stranger?

This was a great start to Cameron Hart’s next mafia series. It was quick and hot and hit all the right places with its instalove and dangerous mafia men. I am excited to see which of Romeo’s men gets the next story!

He will protect her and them some

Romeo is the first book in the new Di Salvo Crime Family series. This is a great start to what is promising to be an exciting, intense, lava hot and entertaining family series. This story introduces the reader to the Di Salvo family which is headed by Romeo. He is hard, brutal and intense. But when he sees Thalia Brooks, a twenty year old woman something in him switches and all he knows is that she will be protected. It seems Thalia saw two murders and has ended up in the middle of what is about to become a war between families. Thalia is more than a little innocent and very naive, but she is also sweet, curvy, and brings out the protector in Romeo, who also sets her loins on fire.
I enjoyed this first book and am looking forward to the new in the series.

I liked Romeo and felt so bad for Thalia I wanted to give her a big hug. Romeo tried to keep her away but that only lasted a few days and he gives in. When she goes to his office and gives him a sweet present (two knitted skulls, one with a scar and another with roses), and then thinks it is a silly present for a mafia dom, she tries to take it back and he says, "MINE! You gave it to me I am keeping it forever." I thought that was so sugary sweet it made me smile and audibly say, awwww!
They are sweet together and of course some drama happens and out H rescues our h (he was keeping her safe after being witness to a murder). Of course HEA.

Romeo is the head of The Di Salvo Crime Family. Thalia is a witness to something she should never have seen. Her brother, a drunk, has messed up and made the wrong people (the Colombo family) mad. When Romeo finds out about her, he feels an unfamiliar urge to protect her. When he gets to her, he knows he was right about coming for her. The Colombo Family is already looking for her. He tries for a couple of days to stay away from her, but the pull is too strong. Now, the Colombo Family is coming for her. Can he keep her safe?

I had high hopes for this series, and they were met. For a dark novella, it was a really good read.

Maybe it's me, but I don't like insta-love that's so ridiculous it's almost offensive. I know going into any novella there's a good chance stuff will be rushed, but this was on another level.

There was ZERO chemistry between the characters, nothing made sense, he felt a pull to her before he even laid eyes on her? What?! I don't know, man. It just wasn't for me. At all.

I definitely would not recommend this book. I never regret reading a book (except maybe that Sleeping Beauty book by Anne Rice) but I can honestly say I wouldn't have been disappointed if I never read this one.

And I don't like being mean or negative to authors. I honestly feel like if she had written it to be a full length book, it would've made a HUGE difference. There just weren't enough pages to fully flesh out this plot.
