Rate this book
Unstoppable Jonathan Graves uncovers a major threat to American security in the latest action-packed adventure in the long-running, bestselling black-ops series.

Twelve missionaries have been snatched in a remote area of Venezuela and are being held for ransom. The high-priority rescue mission comes as a personal plea from FBI director Irene Rivers. It also carries a Presidential demand: no international incident. Just get in and get out—with hostages who are far from cooperative, but nonetheless precious cargo.

A little bit about my background... I've always been a closet-writer. As a kid, I lived for the opportunity to write short stories. I was the editor of my high school newspaper for a while (the Valor Dictus, Robinson High School, class of 1975), until I quit ("You can't fire me! I quit!") over a lofty First Amendment issue that seemed very important at the time. My goal, in fact, was to become a journalist in the vein of Woodward or Bernstein. Okay, I confess, I wanted to be Woodward; Robert Redford played him in the movie, and chicks really dug Robert Redford.

I graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1979, and armed with a degree in American history, I couldn't find a job. I ended up settling for a position with a little-noticed trade journal serving the construction industry. They called me the managing editor and they paid me food stamp wages. I hated it. About this time, I joined the Burke Volunteer Fire Department in Fairfax County, Virginia, if only to find relief from the boredom of my job. Running about a thousand calls my first year with the department, I was hooked, and the volunteer fire service became an important part of my life for the next 15 years. In the early eighties, hating my job, I went the way of all frustrated liberal arts undergrads—back to graduate school. Earning a Master of Science degree in safety engineering from the University of Southern California, I started down a whole new road. For the next decade and a half, I became an expert (don't you hate that word?) on explosives safety and hazardous waste. Meanwhile, I kept writing. I didn't tell anyone, of course, because, well, you just don't share artistic dreams with fellow engineers. They look at you funny.

My first novel, Nathan's Run, was in fact my fourth novel, and when it sold, it sold big. At a time in my life when things were going well—I was president of my own consulting firm—things were suddenly going very well. Warner Bros. bought the movie rights to Nathan's Run two days after the first book rights were sold, and as of this date, the novel has been translated and published in one form or another in over 20 countries. With Nathan's Run in the can, as it were, I thought I might finally be on to something, but I didn't quit my "day job" until after I sold the book and movie rights to my second novel, At All Costs. I figured that while one-in-a-row might be luck, two-in-a-row was a trend. So, I started writing full-time.

More novels followed, and then a few screenplays. I was living the dream.

But I really didn't like it much. I learned pretty quickly that when you're born a Type-A personality, those extrovert tendencies don't go away just because you're practicing a craft you love. In fact, after just a couple of years of dream fulfillment, I was pretty friggin' bored with the company of my imaginary friends, so I did something that I've never heard a full-time artist do before: I went back to a day job. At first, it was just a matter of reactivating my consulting business, but then, in 2004, I was handed my ideal Big-Boy Job (that's what my wife calls it) working as the director of safety for a trade association in Washington, DC.

And I continue to write. In 2006, Six Minutes to Freedom was published to considerable acclaim. My first (and probably last) foray into book-length non-fiction, SixMin tells the story of Kurt Muse, the only civilian of record ever rescued by the super-secret Delta Force. Thanks to Kurt's cooperation (he is co-author), I gained access to people and places that lifelong civilians like me should never see. The heroic warriors I met during that research turned out to be nothing like their movie stereotypes. These were not only gentlemen, but gentle men, who remained free of the kind of boasting and self-aggrandizement that I was expecting. They were supreme professionals, and very nice guys.

And through them I got the idea for my new series character, Jonathan Grave. He's fo

Breathtaking and electrifying are two of the words that come to mind as I think about Harm’s Way by John Gilstrap. This political thriller is the fifteenth book in the Jonathan Grave covert series. Twelve missionaries were abducted in a remote area of Venezuela and are being held for ransom. In a secret meeting, FBI Director Irene Rivers pleas with Jonathan Grave to mount a rescue mission with his team. While Jonathan, Boxers, and Gunslinger plan to infiltrate the enemy camp and rescue the hostages, Venice will be working from their company office as support. However, the mission changes as a world threat is revealed.

Grave loves his country. He’s great at making connections, planning, and adjusting as situations change. Political intrigue excites him. Readers can easily connect with him and root for the success of him and his team. Boxers, Gunslinger, and Venice do not show as much depth in this novel. However, I loved how the team connected to each other and their dialogue. Their chemistry added to my enjoyment of the novel. They have a strong sense of justice and a determination to succeed against overwhelming odds.

Gilstrap has a way of writing thrillers that immediately grab your attention. He’s an excellent storyteller who combines a creative plot with gripping scenes and plenty of action and suspense. The writing is fluid and has a few twists and turns. As danger became imminent, the suspense intensified. The unnerving and over-the-top conclusion will get readers’ hearts racing as they find out who survives. The final chapter wraps up some loose ends and hints that more adventures will be coming.

This high-octane novel was also very atmospheric. The author did a great job of painting the scenes and giving readers the ability to easily picture the scenes without slowing the pace. From the first chapter to the last, events come with a hectic and wild pace. There was a strong sense of urgency throughout the novel. While the novel switches points of view occasionally, it is mainly from that of Grave. Themes include abduction for ransom, corruption, influence peddling, betrayal, political maneuvering and intrigue, and more.

Overall, this briskly paced and explosive novel was tense, fast-paced, action-oriented, and scary to think about. While there are references to past missions, this novel can be read as a standalone. However, readers will be missing out on some background and character growth and changes over time. I recommend this to those who enjoy fantastic action novels.

Kensington Books, Pinnacle and John Gilstrap provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. Publication date is currently set for August 22, 2023. This review was originally posted at Mystery and Suspense Magazine.

There is something comforting about John Gilstrap's writing and this series in particular. Which is an odd feeling considering the violence and mayhem held within it's pages. Twelve Christian missionaries have been kidnapped in Venezuela. Among them, but not known by the kidnappers nor the other missionaries, is the President's son-in-law. FBI Director Irene Rivers has asked Digger and team to rescue the son-in-law as a personal favor at the behest of the President. Other than the goodness of her heart, Rivers has another reason to rescue the missionaries. Strictly off the books, their mission parameters are get the precious cargo and don't start a war. Yeah, ok. Good luck. What the team stumble into is way bigger than kidnapped missionaries and they are basically on their own.

Gilstrap knows how to hook you early on and not let go. The entire cast of characters is flawless and they each make their mark on the story in distinct ways. I recommend this series constantly and Gilstrap continues to not make me look like a liar.

Thank you to Pinnacle and NetGalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of Harm's Way!

John Gilstrap is one of my favorite author's and he never disappoints. This book was no exception. Fast-paced, exciting, and satisfying. A great read!

Description:

It also carries a Presidential demand: no international incident. Just get in and get out—with hostages who are far from cooperative, but nonetheless precious cargo.

My Thoughts:
This book took off at the beginning and never slowed down. It kept my attention from beginning to end. Jonathan Graves is the perfect hero - and who doesn't like a hero? He's always one step ahead and sees the big picture as he strategizes. Tension mounts as danger closes in. This novel could be read as a standalone, however it would be nice to have the background from the earlier books.

Thanks to Kensington Books, Pinnacle through Netgalley for an advance copy.

Thank you to Net Galley, the publishers and the author for an ARC Copy for review.

My apologies for the delay

Henchmen of a vicious drug syndicate have snatched ten missionaries in a remote area of Venezuela and are holding them for ransom. The high-priority rescue op comes as a personal plea from FBI Director Irene Rivers, who has a very special interest in one of the hostages. The mission is strictly off the books, and there can be no international incident. Just get in and get out—and keep the precious cargo safe.

With his key operatives Gunslinger and Boxers, Grave infiltrates the enemy camp. Right away, the rescue mission morphs into something far more dangerous—not just to Jonathan and his team, but to the whole world.

Gilstrap knows how to hook you early on and not let go, he brings strength to his characters mixed with strong action, but realistic story .The entire cast of characters is flawless and they each make their mark on the story in distinct ways. I recommend this series constantly

The pace of the story builds slowly till the last 30%, when the pace takes off and keeps going to the end.

four stars.

Scorpion is back, so is Big guy and Gunslinger and the rest of the crew. Harm's Way by John Gilstrap is another great action packed suspensefilled story.and there is apparently more coming. I really do like this gang and there adventures all in the name of good with some swift justice. The world seems to have shifted back to some kind of 80s scenario again with the big bad red bear the villain again. This means that not all thrillers are about bearded terrorists from the middle east. This will give us readers more variation in the years to come. Gilstrap has once again made up a story that is great and some complications with the power hungry crowd that is almost believable. Highly recommended. A big thank you to Kensington books and Netgalley for supplying me with this book.

I received an advance reading copy from Kensington Publishing, through Netgalley to read and review.

Harm's Way, could be ripped right out of today's headlines, mix Security Solutions, Inc., Venezuela with it's communist regimen, the drug cartel, US missionaries, Russia with it's desire to put missiles in the Western Hemisphere, and you got a real good action thriller.

The drug cartel while providing security, for the Russians as they work with the Venezuela, they hide the missiles, warheads, as a vacation hotel with missile silos are being built and they kidnap US missionaries they hold for ransom.

Unaware that one of the missionaries, Donny Williams is actually a undercover informant working with the FBI and leads to it's director Irene Rivers calling in off the record Security Solutions, Inc..

End up with my style of book, entertaining, has a intertwining storyline, fast paced, action packed, tension filled, full of suspense, gripping, full of twist and turns, a little predictable, builds to a great conclusion and has a good verse evil theme.

Kind of makes you think about the current President Joe Biden, what would he do or how unprepared VP Kamala Harris would be in a real life situation like in Harm's Way and without the author's words triggering it.

I really liked his characters of Jonathan Graves aka: Scorpion, Brian Van de Muelebrocke aka: Boxers, then you have his IT Specialist Venice Alexander, Gail Bonneville aka: Gunslinger, add FBI Director Irene 'Wolfie' Rivers, then a father and son Davey & Jessie Montgomery aka: Chief and Torpedo, they are all likable, like family, make a great formative team and they work off the books.

Guess some writers are just blessed when it comes to bring characters to life in their books, they all play a role in telling the story, doesn't matter if they are good or bad and Gilstrap does just that with Harm's Way.

Don't want to give anything away, the author gives you a believable read, one that enables you escape into the pages, forget life's problems and would recommend.

4 Stars. Another incredibly strong Digger Grave and Company story. This one was a little too real from a political standpoint. There are plenty of bad, corrupt leaders out there in real life to fuel Gilstrap’s imagination. It’s great to see that Wolverine and Scorpion have more work to do in the next installment of this outstanding series.

What a thrilling ride! Buckle up and hold on to your seats! This series is intoxicating and this installment is an edge-of-your seat thriller indeed! Jonathan Grave is asked by the FBI director Irene Rivers to rescue captured missionaries held hostage by a drug cartel in Venezuela. That’s the cover story. However, John Gilstrap’s storylines always include much more than the apparent “cover story”! Irene Rivers has a vested interest in rescuing one particular hostage who is gathering intel for her. Additionally, In the course of rescuing the hostages, it comes to light that a menacing and merciless Russian influence present in Venezuela threatens the balance of power in the western hemisphere! WOW! The roller-coaster thrills never cease!

Thematic issues include the United States political corruption, influence peddling, and poor foreign policy due to weak and irresponsible leadership in the administration.

Exciting and exhilarating as well as thought provoking! The writing and fast paced execution is flawless. This series is a must read for those who enjoy electrifying action, high stakes adventure and political intrigue scenarios!

Many thanks to both Kensington Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of Harm's Way.

Talk about high-speed entertainment!! Ruthless kidnappers! High stakes! Drug Cartel! Off-the-books mission! Impossible odds!

Twelve missionaries have been snatched in a remote area of Venezuela and are being held for ransom. The high-priority rescue mission comes as a personal plea from FBI director Irene Rivers. Just get in, get out ...and keep the precious cargo safe.

It's been a year since I read Lethal Game so my who's who memory was rather rusty. It felt as though a whole lot of names were being tossed around at the beginning. In addition to real names, there were also call sign names to keep track of. It all finally started making sense to me and once I got into the meat of the story, I definitely enjoyed the book.

When those inside the corridors of power need help outside the law ... they know who to call!

I'd like to thanks NetGalley and Pinnacle Books for an opportunity to read the ARC of Harm's Way, by John Gilstrap. I've read the entire series, and the books just keep getting better and better. It's interesting that Gilstrap has found so many scenarios that need hostage rescue, and they've not been repetitive so far. Digger, Big Guy, Slinger, Ven-eee-chay, Wolfie, and Father Dom are some of my favorite book-series characters, and over the 15 novels have had their personalities fully developed. The action scenes are, of course, very exciting and well written, and the technical details are accurate, I'm sure. I really love this series (as well as his recent Victoria Emerson series). Most highly recommended!! Get this book and read it ASAP!

Jonathan is hired to go to Venezuela to rescue hostage missionaries from a cartel there. He, Boxers and Gail set out and find more than they bargained for.
Another very good Jonathan Graves book pitting the team against cartel soldiers, Russians and corrupt, inept politicians. I love the chemistry of the team, even if Gunslinger acts like a wet blanket at times.

The newest Jonathan Grave story does not disappoint.
Jonathan and his off the books hostage retrieval team are quickly on the move to Venezuela to bring back a confidential informant who was taken hostage by the cartel. But he learns there are more people and he plans to get them all. Ten is as easy as one, usually, maybe, not today though.
Let’s see what they blow up on this mission.
Great story as usual.
If you haven’t read any of the series, you’re missing an explosive ride

Harm's Way - John Gilstrap

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC.

John Gilstrap returns with his 15th entry to his Black Ops series, as Jonathan Graves, calls on his specialists to rescue a group of Baptist missionaries being held for ransom in Venezuela. The missionary group of nine includes one member who is a stepson of the president, who has a hidden agenda that gives the book an exciting dual storyline that almost makes the rescue an impossible challenge.

A taut, exciting thriller, perfect for fans of Lee Child's Jack Reacher series.

Until next time!

Digger and Big Guy are back with a mission that turns into something else entirely. A little shaky with less about the one to be rescued in favor of 2 others, but still a good romp and a great setup for the next book. 3.5 stars - and thanks for the shout-out to librarians and libraries at the end!

Harm’s Way by John Gilstrap
Jonathan Grave #15

Missionary stories were big when I was little and at one point I thought it might be interesting to be one. I have since reconsidered and if I had not done so, this book would definitely make me never want to take my chances in a mission field!

What I liked:
* Jonathan “Digger” Grave: intelligent, lethal, committed to causes that require a special type of black ops operative, caring, wealthy, gives back, rights wrongs, sees the bigger picture
* Brian “Boxer” Van de Muelebroecke: big, quiet, lethal, good friend and lethal colleague of Digger who works with him to right the wrongs, quirky sense of humor, can fly anything
* Gail “Gunslinger” Bonneville: brilliant, ex-FBI HRT member, ex-sheriff, bright, capable, vigilant, talented, lethal, and part of the team doing secretive things with Boxer and Digger
* Venice “Mother Hen” Alexander: mother, daughter, hacker extraordinaire, gets lost when working, intriguing, great asset to the team that can provide anything required anywhere
* Jesse “Torpedo” Montgomery and his father Davey “Chief” Montgomery: strong ties though love-hate relationship that rears its head from time to time, both capable and necessary on this op
* Irene “Wolverine” Rivers: Director of the FBI, hires Jonathan and his team for the ops they undertake, a bit of a dark horse but seems to be on the side of what is right
* Max Greenwich: on the mission trip to appease his brother Mikey, intelligent, able to see the trouble they were in when kidnapped, strong, resilient, smarter than many of the missionaries he was with
* That the plot seemed relevant to current affairs
* That it made me think, care about the outcome, and wish that things were different in our current chaotic political climate

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about the bad guys and wondering why they made the choices they did…
* Knowing I have to wait for the next book in the series – the teaser has me eager to read the book

Did I enjoy this book? Yes, though it had a bit of a sad ending
Would I read more in this series? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books – Pinnacle for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Johnathan Graves goes his own way in Harm's Way. He's tasked with getting one kidnapped 'precious cargo' rescued but is determined to get all who’ve been kidnapped with him. Then, with more information on plots and plans, he decides he is going into a bigger battle and intends to win.

The plot of Harm's Way is simple and straight forward. The implementation of Johnathan’s plans is less so.

As with other authors, for example Tom Clancy and Stephen Coonts, John Gilstrap seems to have a prescience about what we in the real world need to worry about next, the threats that haven't quite come into focus yet. It's terrifying and exhilarating to read . . . IN FICTION!

I was fascinated to read that the author is an explosives safety expert. John Gilstrap is one of those authors with whom I wish I could just sit and chat.

I agree that Harm's Way has a bit more political commentary than we're used to having, especially in the earlier books. However, as I was reading, I couldn't quite decide to which administration he's referring. I have my thoughts but still don't really know. Is it fact or fiction? That's the hallmark of a great thriller author.
“Wherever I look I see, self-serving careerists. The ones in front of me are all politicians whose moral codes dissolved after their first fundraiser. Behind me, I see a generation of agents and supervisors who’ve spent their whole lives learning that political expediency and the rule of law are interchangeable. Something can’t be wrong if the cool kids are doing it.”
Hmm, that certainly is bipartisan!

The gloriousness of reading is that we can take out what we experience in our lives, what we enjoy, what aligns with our individual values and tastes. But we can also use what we read to give us perspective, to learn what we’ve never experienced, don’t know or in some cases don't want to know. Most importantly of all, we can simply enjoy the story.

I've enjoyed every one of the fifteen Jonathan Graves books and look forward to the next, Heat Seeker. Alas, I can't find the release date.

5 Stars for Harm's Way.

I always enjoy John Gilstrap's Jonathan Grave Thriller series. #15, Harm's Way (Pinnacle Books 2023), quickly becomes the series usual high octane non-stop action on an international stage with more bad guys than it’s fair to count, prose that is always fresh and original.

"Jonathan felt that twinge on the back of his neck that usually meant that he’d learned something significant.

In this one, Jonathan's security team is hired to rescue missionaries kidnapped in Venezuela by drug lords, ostensibly for ransom, but Jonathan quickly figures out it's less to do with money and more about politics and paybacks.

“It wasn’t that long ago that Venezuela was fat with cash and a prosperous place. Then the Leftists took over and everything went to shit. Ever notice that every oppressive, failed regime in modern history has the word socialist in the title?”

"The Border Patrol and the Drug Enforcement Administration had both been thoroughly neutered by President Darmond’s political henchmen, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation had neutered itself with political infighting..."

Parts feel that they are ripped from the headlines, but don’t prejudge what you think that means. I awarded this an easy 5/5 and recommend it to those who love geopolitical thrillers that can’t be predicted.

We now live in the era of political expediency and the rule of law are interchangeable.

A political thriller that puts a Christian missions team in harms way when they are kidnapped. Graves team mission is to rescue one key political figure however, his team cannot leave the others behind for politics. Their mission in spite of Washington is to rescue the whole group. They also question the underlying questions as to why one particular victim is targeted. What political gain is there.

This is a fast action pact thriller that you can easily wonder if it could happen or is happening in todays political world. Graves team has picked up a father/son team member that have an interesting contrasting look on life. One is "for the common good" and the other is more individualistic. They make up the rescue team that Graves heads. Will they be the downfall of the whole mission because of their relationship problems? Or will the father/son become an asset.

I like how the team gels and problem solves. You are right there with them as they know their targets. Their strengths and weakness. A great read in todays political climate.

A special thank you to Kensington Books and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

I like John Gilstrap’s series overall. The inconsistencies (within book: brothers’ parents dead, then not dead enough to report on the boys’ rescue experience; from previous book to this one: president and son in law hated each other, Nicky wouldn’t give him the time of day AND Nicky seemed like a good guy, whereas this book they are working together for evil and Nicky seems like a worm…and the First Lady is now known by Russian name as well as speaking with Russian accent, compared to having eradicated it in previous book. Substantial issues.)

Anyway, there are other inconsistencies from book to book, and frankly, I wish Jonathan seemed nice to his friends, instead of dismissive, always telling Boxers to hush up. They say they aren’t killers, but default to that mentally very easily.

Still, it is nice that the team has stayed together, and that they ultimately try to work for good.

As an aside, and as a Christian, I sure wish authors didn’t always use the missionaries/pastors/believers as two bit charlatans or cretins. (Father Dom is sort of an exception in this series, mostly.)

I would recommend the series, but this was not my favorite of the lot. I have listened to the entire roster, though.

Keep them coming, Mr. Gilstrap.

Wow, this is timely. The FBI director is attempting to investigate the president. This is another excellent addition to the Jonathan Grave series. My kindle version had 2 or 3 editing misses, which will not deter me from reading more from Mr. Gilstrap. I am surprised I caught these as I generally read right past them. Interesting quote / comment on American politicians: “The structure of the United States government is an interesting thing. The higher you climb up the career ladder, the closer you come to the single source of all power. Every federal bureaucrat and every military commander ultimately reports to the president. And in a charming fit of optimism, the founding fathers deluded themselves into believing that the president would be honest and capable of clear thought. As a check against irresponsible leadership, they allowed for cabinet secretaries who would advise sanity, without envisioning the installation of career toadies who use their federal service to make millions as consultants and lobbyists on their way out the door.”

As a relative newbie to the Jonathan Graves franchise, I'm impressed with the differing ways Mr. Gilstrap has his characters work. With friends in high places, Jonathan is forever being tasked with rescuing people who sometimes seem too stupid to live. Taking themselves into situations that require rescue kind of makes my point!

Ten missionaries are taken hostage by a drug cartel, but their unfortunate detainment really has nothing to do with the reason the drug cartel is in their area. This act does gets Jonathan's whole crew involved in the rescue and subsequent realization about a bigger issue than just these 10 people.

I enjoy learning about this kind of clandestine operation, and while not everything that transpires is in reality, happening now, it might!

Another entertaining and sometimes heart stopping page turner.

Thanks to Kensington and Net Galley for an ARC of this book. The review is my own.

Harm's Way is the 15th book in the Jonathan Graves series from John Gilstrap.

"Wolverine asks Jonathan to rescue an asset. One that happens to be in an unfriendly country. The team will have no official cover. After arrival, Digger and his team find some unexpected company and realize the mission has changed - there's some unexpected visitors intent on impacting on the entire Western Hemisphere."

This book has all of the action you expect from a Jonathan Graves rescue story. Except this one has more of a political thriller slant. There's lots of cool technology (some a little frightening) a couple of strong female leads and an old Cold War flavor. This one differs in that there is not a 100% resolution to the plot. It's not a cliffhanger but there are some things left hanging.

This is a great addition to the series. Gilstrap is still finding new situations to put Digger and company into. Fans of action and military/political thrillers will enjoy this one.

Book #15 in the Jonathan Grave series. It can be read as a stand alone but the whole series has been so good, you'll want to read the others, too. When John Gilstrap developed the Grave character, he built a hero who selflessly puts his team and their mission above his personal comfort and safety. He has maintained the quality of the first book throughout the series. If you have not read any of this series, you should immediately schedule a binge weekend.

Grave's team has been tasked with recovering 12 missionaries that have been kidnapped. As the front line law authories try to bargain the missionaries release, Grave's team will insert themselves into the enemy camp and free the hostages. Once inside the camp, they learn that there is more....much more....to this mission than they knew. The action is fast, the tension builds quickly to a point where you are holding your breath and then......well, you'll just have to read the book for yourself.

Okay let’s explain my 1st 3star for Gilstrap…

Being a LEO currently employed and having seen my fair share of “stuff” (not 0300 type stuff but stuff nonetheless) so it gets hard reading the same old tired kidnap missions the Boys go on. These plots seem the same…..now for the power behind the 3 stars and why I continue to read Gilstrap. As Americans we ALL need to read Gilstrap! I believe the reason behind same plots is because Gilstrap is trying to appeal to the majority of red white and blue Sheep that only care about everyday comforts and not continuing to fight for patriotism and American values. The message is clear and couldn’t be more so; America’s coming to an end of an empire if we can’t fix ourselves as a country and a people! Love ya Gilstrap! I’ll keep reading the 0300’s!! This Country is too great not to…

When I say that as soon as I see this series offered as an ARC I jump on it, I mean it!

Scorpion, Big Guy, and Mother Hen and the other characters have taken me on journeys across the world and I'm there for every second, excluding all other activities until the journey is over. Sometimes I can breathe as I read and sometimes I hold my breath but ever single one is full of action, angst and for me, sometimes tears. This one was not different.

This one you'll follow the crew to a place they were not and since they weren't there they certainly didn't see what they saw. But the journey was an important one and thank God they went. Once you read this book you'll understand all of the above and if this is your first book in the series I sincerely hope you get as hooked as I am and read them all.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Scropion & the Big Guy are back in another action packed "rescue" that soon becomes something else entirely.

Wolverine (Irene, Dir of FBI) requests their help in rescuing one of a number of missionaries kidnapped by the cartel in Venezula. He is important as he has info on corruption of the President and his family. Scorpion tells her if he rescues one, he will go for all of them. They are on their own, without backup as the US has pulled all assets in the country.

Somehow, they come across not only the missionaries but Russians up to something along the coast-lots of concrete and building going on. Ultimately, there is a lot of explosions, firefights and dead bad guys!

It is eerie how the book reflects current affairs,

Ten missionaries are taken and handled captive in the remote jungle of Venezuela. After the ransom demand the director of the FBI has called in Johnathon and his team for a rescue. After listening to everything including the person who said they escaped he takes the job along with his team but it does not feel right that a drug cartel is doing all of this. When he gets further along into the operation he realizes that this is much, much more than what he was told and can impact millions of people. A good store that will keep you turning page after page. I received this book from Netgalley.com

Christian missionaries have been kidnapped in Venezuela. Digger and his team have been asked to rescue one of the missionaries, but they won’t accept the mission unless they rescue all of them. Politics are behind the rescue mission and the rescuers aren’t given all the information. There is way more to the mission than they expect and one thing after another goes wrong. This book is action packed from the beginning with dirty politicians in the background. The book will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what will happen next. Thank you to net galley for an advanced copy.
