I just used this late winter snowstorm day to read this outstanding book in the Clayton/Lake series. I curled up on the couch and kept turning the pages. Wow!

Death In My Reflection is well written, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. Just when I thought I had it figured out, Bam! The storyline took a different path.

The characters are well developed, the scenes, whether sex or crime are graphic but very realistic rather than sensationalized.

Having just watched the first season of Taylor Sheridan's 1923 on TV, the entire Indigenous storyline in the book was on point. The Native American children were so badly mistreated in what our government and religious organizations claimed to be "Americanizing". Barbara has done her research.

Looking forward to the 3rd installment in this series.

I wish I could just type “GO GET YOUR COPY OF DEATH IN MY REFLECTION BT BARBARA FOURNIER AND READ IT IMMEDIATELY !!!” …. but as a reviewer and blogger, it is my job to persuade you.

Death in My Reflection is the second book in Fournier’s Reese Clayton and Emerson Lake series and this story has more twists and turns than the scariest rollercoaster and has more surprises than you could ever imagine … seriously, I was almost afraid to turn the pages but my curiousity got the best of me everytime !!!

In Death in My Reflection Clayton and Lake go to the prison to witness the execution of a horrible man they put behind bars. They are there to finally put the case to rest in their minds, unfortunately Clayton notices that the prisoner about to be put to death is not the person they arrested and convicted. This will lead the two detectives, their Captain, a few of their officers and two FBI’s agents down a dark and very scary road that readers could NEVER imagine.

If you are able to stay on track throughout this book, and are not surprised at any of it and find yourself one step ahead of the police, I highly encourage you to take to pen and paper. It may be that a best selling novel is inside your head.

I know I related the first book, Now Say Your Sorry to a rollercoaster as well and that is only because both of these stories are exactly like that. Even when you think you have a grasp on the story and where it is heading, you will turn the page and continue reading and BAM you are hit again with something CRAZY !!!

I LOVE Barbara Fournier and her crazy mind !! I say this with much love as I have met her and have talked with her a lot. I am always amazed that the woman that I have a quaint loving relationship with can write tales like this. I can only hope that she has more crazy tales in her head making their way to paper……

In this second installment of the Reese Clayton and Emerson Lake series, author Barbara Fournier starts off on fire and keeps the flames burning with truly riveting action.

In a continuation from the debut novel, the returning twosome is presented with quite the mystery and must enlist recruits from the local police and the FBI to infiltrate a South Dakota Lakota Sioux reservation that is out of their jurisdiction.

The setting of protected lands, a casino, and an insular community is ideal for underground mafia types to work their schemes undeterred by pesky laws. Coupled with child abuse scandals endemic to the native American adoption and education systems and you're in for quite the twisted scenario.

Corruption runs deep up and down the ranks, until Clayton and Lake shine a light on the most clandestine criminals to root out the evil.

DEATH IN MY REFLECTION is the second book in the Reese Clayton and Emerson Lake series. As with the first book, NOW SAY YOU’RE SORRY, this too, Did Not disappoint. I had gotten no further than page 2, when a murder takes place, sending the two main characters, who are detectives, on a dangerous winding chase to solve the murder. There were so many twists and turns in this story. For some, hearts were broken, with others, were left traumatized. In the end, the detectives along with the FBI end up solving more than one murder. If you are a fan of murder mysteries, I highly recommend his book.

Death in My Reflection is the second in the Reese Clayton and Emerson Lake series. This thriller takes it a step further. Clayton and Lake find themselves involved in a deadly conspiracy that somehow involves the Governor and an underground ring of criminals operating on the reservations in South Dakota. It's very convincing and feels like our state of South Dakota.

Gripping page-turner with heart

Barbara Fournier's sophomore mystery novel does not disappoint! Filled with layered characters you care about and a twisty-turny mystery that grabs you on page one and never lets go. I love the dynamic between the two South Dakota detectives and how they deal with their own relationship while navigating an increasingly complex murder case that could cost them their lives! Richly textured and expertly crafted. Five stars!
