Vengeance in the Mist

Rate this book
A routine assault conviction gone wrong. A menacing intruder. And a case that’s more twisted—and dangerous—than anyone suspected.

Assistant District Attorney Misty Lake wants nothing more than to ensure Boston lawbreakers face justice, but how can she when she's faced with an increasing workload and pressure to offer plea deals? When a criminal she prosecuted is released on a technicality, she doesn’t have time to worry about the threats he once breathed against her.

Tate Steele dreams of rising in the ranks at the DA’s office, but idealistic prosecutor Misty is in his way. When the district attorney asks him to assist her with a few cases, he’s eager to close them quickly to prove his merit. But he and Misty discover her apartment has been broken into, and this is no run-of-the-mill burglar. The intruder escapes and leaves no trace.

Either the vengeful convict Misty put away has upped his skills, or there’s more at play than a defendant seeking revenge.

Every clue opens up a deeper layer of lies and corruption. Though Tate has always been her rival—more concerned with ambition than justice—seeing his protective side makes Misty's heart vulnerable to his charm…something she can’t risk. Someone is bent on making sure the truth never comes to light—no matter what the cost.

Don’t miss the final twisted mystery in the addictive Coventry Saga.

Robin Patchen is a USA Today bestselling and award-winning author of Christian romantic suspense. She grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, the setting of her Nutfield Saga books, and then headed to Boston to earn a journalism degree. After college, working in marketing and public relations, she discovered how much she loathed the nine-to-five ball-and-chain. After relocating to the Southwest, she started writing her first novel while she homeschooled her three children. The novel was dreadful, but her passion for storytelling didn’t wane. Thankfully, as her children grew, so did her writing ability. Now that her kids are adults, she has more time to play with the lives of fictional heroes and heroines, wreaking havoc and working magic to give her characters happy endings. When she’s not writing, she’s editing or reading, proving most of her life revolves around the twenty-six letters of the alphabet. Another wonderful romantic suspense novel by Robin Patchen! This is the last "official" book in the Coventry saga (though there is still one bonus book coming this summer). This book follows Misty Lake, whose sister Summer was the leading lady in Courage in the Shadows. We met Misty briefly in that book but in this one, we get to see how she's faring after the adventures of the prior novel. While you can read this book as a stand-alone, I'd recommend reading at least Courage in the Shadows first as there are spoilers for that book in this one. The other Coventry characters show up in this book (mostly in the last chapter), so it's good to have read those, but their stories are completely separate from this one. When Misty is assigned "help" with her workload, it's from the person she least wants help from, but has no choice but to accept it. When colleague Tate Steele shows up at Misty's apartment for their meeting the next morning, he catches someone breaking into her apartment, which puts Misty on the run a bit. As they work together on both her prosecution cases and on figuring out why her apartment was broken into and how to keep her safe, the sparks begin to fly between them as these enemies turned friends turned more spend time together.

I really enjoyed the story line of this one. Ms. Patchen always weaves intricate details into her plots, making them both more realistic and more sinister. The mystery of it all had me turning pages and the danger and suspense elements were on point. Though romance is not my favorite element in a romantic suspense, it's much more palatable when the characters share history (even if it is as enemies.....) and the romance in this one was paced well for me and I was even rooting for them. The faith element was solid in this one as Misty is growing as a new Christian and Tate is learning to rely more on his faith than on himself. And there was a great deal of character growth as the characters shared defining events from their childhoods and worked through some of their own suppositions. Themes of "justice vs mercy" and forgiveness were prevalent. There were some surprises at the end and I enjoyed how the author tied up the series with all of the characters present for an event. All in all, this was a fabulous series and this was a cherry on top to end it. This is one I'd definitely recommend to fans of romantic suspense. Special thanks to the author for an advance e-copy of this book. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

Misty and Taste’s story is a testimony of God, forgiveness and trust. They need to work together to find who is targeting Misty for her work in the DA office. But the more the digg the deeper is the hole they are falling into. Can Misty really trust Tate and open her heart or will she shut everyone out? Robin always make you reflect on life, the choices we make, how we struggle to do the right thing with God guidance.

Wow so very good that I lost track of time. It wasn’t till I finished it that I realized my stomach was growling. This is another winner for sure, especially for others like me who love a good suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat guessing. I love the themes of justice, of learning to trust, of finding community, and remembering that God is in control. I was hooked from the beginning. I felt especially drawn to Misty with her trust issues stemming from childhood as I could relate as while our circumstances were different, the struggle to trust others and form meaningful relationships were the same. Highly recommend this book that will pull you into the suspenseful drama while also teaching you life lessons along the way. Lastly I love the Coventry Series that are each powerful reads on their own while keeping a connection between them that feels like reconnecting with a good friend. Keep them coming Robin.

This is another amazing story of our Coventry Family. Our heroine is Misty, Summer Lake's younger sister. Those of you who read Courage in the Shadows will remember that Summer and Misty were two of a group of models that were kidnapped by drug lords. Misty is an ADA in a busy prosecutors office. Tate, our hero, is another ADA. They couldn't be more different, Misty is all about justice for the downtrodden. Tate is very ambitious and wants to make a good impression on the boss. They are brought together by their boss to "help poor Misty get some of her cases resolved". Tate has always liked Misty but the feelings aren't mutual. Okay enough background. The things I enjoy about this book is the fast moving action, the suspense, and how you might think you know who is behind the attempts on Misty, but, then things happen that messes with your mind🙂. As always I thoroughly enjoyed the way Robin weaves the other characters from Coventry into the existing storyline. I have read most of Robin's books and have never been disappointed.

I absolutely loved this book! Misty was set on complete justice in resolving her cases, and Tate was more about quickly clearing his case load and moving up the career ladder, so they had a hard time agreeing on anything to start with. Plus, Misty had much in her background that made it hard for her to trust men. I wasn't sure how the two would ever be on the same page, but the author wove a wonderful, but twisted, story that kept me on the edge of my seat and brought the two together in a very satisfying way! I enjoyed seeing the growth that they both went through as the case twisted and turned to its conclusion.

The location is still the northeast part of the United States, but instead of New Hampshire, Vengeance in the Mist takes readers to Boston.

I loved the "A Few Good Men" vibe between Misty and Tate as Misty was driven for justice while Tate was willing to settle to close cases more quickly. The fun ribbing between them as colleagues was enjoyable. Once they began dating, the on again, off again got a bit tiresome.

The suspense aspect was good and kept me engaged.

My gratitude to the author for a complimentary copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and all opinions expressed are my own.

A Real Who-done-it

Mercy or vengeance? And just where does justice fit in? Robin Patchen delivers again in another hard hitting, action filled story full of suspense and drama.

How do you draw the line between a felony and a misdemeanor? For prosecutor Misty Lake, it’s simple. Victims need justice… ahhhh, but at what cost?

For Tate Steel, justice is best served with mercy and speed, especially when the big boss, the DA wants cases plea-bargained away to save time and money.

Misty, healing from two previous kidnappings has fallen behind on her cases. But has she really? Or does the the DA, have his own agenda, especially when it comes to one case in particular? Just why does the DA assign Tate to work with Misty? What is his real game plan?

Misty now has a target on her back. Who would bug her apartment and why? And surely a misdemeanor wouldn’t have a dead body showing up. Figuring out just who the good guys are and the bad guys are kept me turning the pages.

🤔 OBSERVATIONS:

✒︎ Love how this author writes a clean storyline with drama that easily could be real life… Loved how characters would second guess themselves or be so obstinate that they couldn’t see the forest for the trees. And it was soooo satisfying that there were no unwanted filler pages just to pad the book.

✒︎ I could ‘feel’ Misty’s pain. And yes, her seeking justice could definitely be overboard at times, especially when it comes to self defense. If a person is attacked and he/she fights back, that is self defense no matter how bad the attacker gets hurt. Once adrenaline kicks in, self preservation is strong. It’s the attacker who needs prosecuted, not the other way around.

✒︎ The extended epilogue is perfect.... loved it.

✒︎ Would like to have ‘seen’ Leland’s reaction when truth is revealed. Also, what about Ruth?

✒︎ Still not a fan of Reid’s. I have a long memory (LOL)…. But love that Denise is with Jon. Enjoyed ‘seeing’ past characters play a role here too. And if you read the previous book, just sayin’, Summer still is that very protective sister.

✒︎ Ahhhh, poor Raul had no idea who he was dealing with or up against! Tsk, tsk.

✒︎ Okay, I don't want to give anything away but I did want to know more about Freddy❣️

I received an advance copy of this book and freely leave my review.

VENGEANCE IN THE MIST follows after Courage in the Shadows in the Coventry series by ROBIN PATCHEN, but it can easily stand alone. It is a fast paced legal thriller in which assistant district attorneys, Misty Lake and Tate Steele, are asked by their employer, District Attorney Leland Humphrey, to work together to clear Misty’s workload. Misty has recently been kidnapped for the second time, and she is now traumatised by her apartment having been broken into and bugged. She feels it could be the work of Freddy Parks who she prosecuted and put in jail, and who has now been let out. He has disappeared, which seems very suspicious. Misty has always been very independant and starts out resenting Tate as they have to work together, but ends up being very glad for his protection. These two prosecutors have very different ideas about their cases, with Misty wanting to make sure that criminals receive the longest sentences to keep them off the streets, while Tate tends to offer plea bargains and shorter sentences in order to please his boss. Tate is ambitious whilst Misty is passionate about justice, protecting the weak and putting away violent offenders. Will they be able to put aside their differences and suspicions and become more than friends?…..
I like the way the novel is based on a strong Christian message - the importance of forgiveness and showing mercy and unconditional love, and letting go of the past. I also like the way we feel the characters’ emotions.
There is murder, the disappearance of suspects, and the fraudulent appropriation of funds, with several of the cases they are dealing with seeming to overlap.
We are taken on a real roller coaster ride and are kept guessing right to the end.
I have enjoyed every novel I have read by this author and Vengeance in the Mist is no exception.
I cannot recomend this thrilling and inspirational read strongly enough.

Vengeance in the Mist
By Robin Patchen
Another amazing book by Robin Patchen! This is book 10 in the Coventry Saga series, but is considered a stand alone.
In this book you get to dive deeper into Misty Lake’s story. Misty is Summer Lake’s younger sister who was introduced in book 9 Courage in the Shadows. It isn’t necessary, but I would recommend reading Courage in the Shadow as you will get a little better understanding of Misty. Misty is an Assistant District Attorney. You also get to know Tate Steele. He briefly appeared in Courage in the Shadows book. Like Misty, Tate is also an ADA.
Tate and Misty are called to the district attorney’s office. The district attorney asked Tate to help Misty get caught up in her case load. Misty is furious to have Tate help her. She feels she’s capable of handling her own work load.
When Misty and Tate set up a meeting the next day at Misty’s apartment, someone has different plans for their meeting. Misty heads out to grab some coffee and food for their meeting and someone breaks into her apartment. Luckily Tate had shown up early to their meeting and sees the intruder. Tate stops Misty from entering her apartment while the intruder is still in there. After the police give the all clear that it’s safe to go back into her apartment she can’t tell anyone was ever there. If it wasn’t for Tate stopping her from going inside she would’ve walked right in on her intruder.
As Misty and Tate try and figure out why someone would break into her apartment, the bullets start flying. Misty and Tate work together to try and figure out why someone is after her. Will they survive long enough to undercover the truth?

I highly recommend this book! I couldn’t put it down and just when you think you have it figured out another twist is thrown into the mix. This book is fast paced and action packed! You won’t be disappointed! Happy Reading!

Misty Lake and Tate Steele are such an unlikely team for their boss to practically force to work together. With a couple of exceptions, they have such a different approach to the job. Tate seems focused on getting the cases settled as quickly as possible, while Misty is seeking justice for the victims in every case. Her goal is to get the suspects to court and make sure they get the maximum penalty so that the victims and their families can see that justice has been done. Can Tate help Misty show some mercy to the perpetrators; maybe even consider that the ultimate burden of making the criminals pay does not rest on her shoulders alone? Supposedly, that is what their boss wants to see happen. Before they can even get started, Tate sees someone sneaking into Misty’s apartment just before they are scheduled to start working through a stack of case files. From that point on, it appears Misty is in the crosshairs of some unknown person for a reason she does not understand. Nothing is making sense as she and Tate start seeing what appear to be connections between certain cases that were not apparent at first glance. I found it quite interesting to see the way in which their relationship, which started at sub-zero, begins to warm up and then goes cold again, only to turn back up again. If they have to work together to settle the cases, they have to figure out how to trust each other. Misty’s background set her up for failure in the relationship department. She is still trying to learn how to rebuild a relationship with her own sisters. The action and intrigue will keep you turning pages late into the night. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

"Two breaking-and-entering cases, two assaults, one bribery and - Misty Lake flipped through the last few files - a couple of narcotics possession charges."

Misty Lake is one busy assistant district attorney with no idea yet of how much trouble that simple bribery charge is going to be, especially after her boss insists that she team with another colleague, tasking Tate Steele with speeding up Misty's deliberate style of navigating her ever-toppling case load. Misty is tenacious and meticulous, Tate is efficient . . . can the two forge a partnership of sorts? . . . . what a loaded question. . . . . . especially after Tate happens upon someone breaking into Misty's apartment on their first day of collaboration and deems himself part of her protection.

Ultimately, Tate meets his goal; he speeds Misty up on all but one case, becoming an eyewitness to her impenetrable determination to dig, and dig, and dig beneath the surface. Somewhere in the process, Tate comes to respect her demand for justice, and of course it doesn't hurt that she is easy on the eyes . . . . how could he have missed Misty's Lake's allure underneath that tough workaholic veneer? Heaven knows (and he has offered more than a few prayers) the woman does not trust easily(and with good reason); what will it take to win that trust, and how easily can it be destroyed? Two good questions, while at present, her life has been threatened . . . someone is out for vengeance.

"All these years she'd fought to make sure justice was done, she'd failed to understand one important thing. God was a God of justice. Nobody cared more about justice than He did. "

"Deliver us from evil."

Great book on multiple levels!

Misty and Tate are coworkers in the District Attorney's office, working as prosecutors. They both have different mindsets on how to do their job. Misty cares about going the extra mile to ensure the fairness and justice of the law, which takes time and is creating a backlog of case files for her. Tate is competent and more interested in advancing in the ranks of the DA's office. Their boss asks Tate to assist Misty in getting caught up with her workload. Misty and Tate don't really get along, but they attempt to cooperate for the good of the department. Suddenly Tate arrives at Misty's apartment in time to see it's been broken into. Can it be coincidental that a criminal who threatened Misty and one that she previously prosecuted was just released from prison on a technicality? As danger inches closer, Misty and Tate must team up for her safety. There's a lot of twists and turns in this romantic suspense. And just as Misty begins to have feelings for Tate and trust him. . .yes, another twist in the story!! Can Misty and Tate follow God's plan for security and so much more! A great romantic suspense! I enjoyed once again seeing the past characters as well as Misty and her sister Summer grow closer. I also enjoyed the statement, as Misty struggles to feel safe and secure, "True security didn't come from money or justice...but from God". I also enjoyed the Extended Epilogue.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have voluntarily given my honest opinion in this review.

This is the nineteenth of Robin Patchen's books that I have read and reviewed. I've given most of them five stars and none less than four, but this is my favorite of her works thus far. Misty Lake has led a difficult life and has seen more than her share of danger, leaving her with a strong desire to put bad guys away as an attorney with Boston's District Attorney's office. Who else had that desire as strongly as she did, certainly not ambitious Tate Steele who cared only for climbing the ladder at the DA's office, or could she have misjudged her colleague of several years? Misty's drive once again places her in the crosshairs of some really bad actors. Might Tate be more of an ally than she would have ever imagined? Could she trust him, possibly even with her life? Robin Patchen leads readers on a quest for the answers to these questions, and what a great ride that becomes! Robin is at the top of her game in plotting great suspense with believable relationship development in Vengeance in the Mist. Of course, as always, I recommend reading all of the Coventry Saga books in order even though each works well as a stand-alone read. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of this book from the author without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

After personally surviving two horrific crimes, prosecutor Misty Lake is more determined than ever that criminals should pay for their crimes and not be offered plea deals. With her cases piling up, her boss assigns Tate Steele, another prosecutor known for his plea deals, to help her. While angry and inwardly seething, Misty has no choice but to work with Tate. Things get off to a rocky start, but on their first time working together, Tate keeps Misty from walking in on an intruder in her apartment. For some reason it appears Misty is being targeted--but by whom and why? Someone is leaking information. As Misty and Tate work together to try to find answers, Misty begins to see him in different way. As more evidence unfolds, they realize they can no longer trust their fellow employees--is even their boss trustworthy? Will they survive long enough to see if their friendship could turn into something lasting? This book has many shocking twists and turns. I found it to be absolutely spell-binding and highly recommend it.

I received an ARC. The opinions expressed above are strictly my own.

Opposites DO attract…and more than they bargained for.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. If my eyes weren’t failing me, I’d have read it straight through. Wonderful characters, great plot, mystery/intrigue and developing romance made it a recipe for good reading. The personal challenges, attempts at open communication and growth enriched the story with faith and determination to find happiness. Both Misty and Tate have much to self-discover by working and hanging out together with their opposite in nature.

While at an impasse, they are pressured to dig deeper into Misty’s cases in order to keep her out of danger – someone is keeping too close of an eye on her. There are unexpected twists and turns that hold you glued to the story and multiple questions that are itching to be scratched with answers. Misty and Tate are risking both their careers and happiness to see this to its rightful conclusion – a must read clean and entertaining novel…I received an arc and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I love the way Robin Patchen's novels have interlocking elements. The suspense builds from the very first page. This is due to the way she makes the relationships of her characters so believable. I always feel like I am a part of Nutfield or Coventry or wherever she maps out her plot. The Christian elements are substantial but do not overpower her story. However, they do provide a stronger meaning as far as how the journey will transpire. In this one, the characters of Misty Lake and Tate Steele take the lead giving us a glimpse of both the questionable side of love, the law, and life. However, she also gives you this always-present hope that all will turn out for the best. Even if there is a loss or the perfect answer can't be found. You may get your happy-ever-after or you might get the best that can be. Only Robin can tell a story that will give you light, and happiness, and inspire you to do better in your own life while giving you a great read. I highly recommend this as a conclusion to the Coventry series.

Robin has a way of creating storylines that grip your attention and keep you hanging on.
No exception here.
Misty Lake is a boss in the courtroom and wants to hang every criminal out to dry. This doesn’t make her popular in the criminal world and evil is bent on revenge. Enter Tate Steele a hunky-handsome alpha male packing a law degree and ambition to climb the ranks in the prosecutors office.
To Misty he is like gum on the bottom of her shoe. Irritating!
She’ll discover there’s more to Tate Steele than what meets the eye.
As evil closes in is he an ally or an enemy?
You’ll be obsessed with finding out.
The end was explosive. I actually gasped.
Throughout the story you recognize our need for a Savior. Our human decisions are inferior to God’s. We don’t usually recognize this until we’re hanging over the edge of a cliff.
Robin has woven this well throughout.
You’ll love the characters, the nail biting moments - which there are many, and an ending that you don’t expect.
I loved it!

DNF around 30%. I absolutely love all of this author’s books, but for some reason, this one just wasn’t holding my attention. I kept trying to push through, but there were so many other books I was excited to read, and I knew that no matter what, she’d give the characters a happy ending—because that’s something she always does so well.

Eventually, I ended up skipping ahead to read the kidnapping, the rescue, and of course, the happily ever after—and I really liked those parts. That’s something I always appreciate about her writing: she knows how to bring things together in a satisfying way. Maybe I’ll come back to it when I have a quiet weekend and can read it straight through, because I do think I’d enjoy it more in a different mindset.

Even though I didn’t finish the whole book, there were still things I really enjoyed—like how realistic the kidnapping and healing process felt, how kind and supportive he was toward her, and the strong sister relationships. I also loved how they leaned on God through everything.❤️

She abandoned her boxcar — and found a home.

Misty Lake is still emotionally and mentally recovering from her kidnapping. Work as an ADA has been good for her. She has dealt with many cases and can’t imagine why the DA suddenly wants Tate, another ADA, to work with her.

Suddenly everything changes and her life appears to once again be threatened. Which of her cases could possibly have a vendetta against her? There is a mystery to be solved here, and they had best work together to achieve a positive result. This wonderful story catches us up with some of our loved characters from the Coventry Saga and helps us get to know others better.

Of the several themes in this novel, perhaps the most important are trust and mercy which leads to forgiveness. Can these well developed characters solve the case without losing their lives? An early copy was received through BookFunnel. These thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited.

I enjoyed reading Misty and Tate's story in Vengeance in the Mist. It's a good suggestion to read Courage in the Shadows first because that's where you meet Misty briefly and get her backstory.
Following the events thar happened in Courage in Shadows, Misty's boss assigns Tate, another DA, to help her with her workload. She's not too thrilled, but Tate rescues her when he sees an intruder breaking and entering into her apartment the morning Misty and Tate were to meet to go over the case files.
As Misty has to be evasive where she's hiding out for the time being, these enemies are now becoming friends the more time they are working on closing Misty's case files. Misti finds something suspicious regarding one of her case files, and the more they dig into it, more questions and danger come up. Adding to that, Misti's job and Tate's career are on the line.
Themes of mercy versus justice, forgiveness, and trusting God are prevalent in this novel.

First, I have to say that I am so very sorry that this is the final book in the Coventry Saga. I have loved following the stories of these characters in this very special place and I will miss them but, knowing Robin Patchen, she surely has new characters and a new location already in her creative mind. As always, Misty and Tate were well developed characters and consistent in their behaviors based on their upbringing and past experiences. I was especially impressed at how they could approach the same subject matter from their own unique perspective - come to a logical conclusion and yet - they were often very different. What started as a simple task to work through, became quite complicated with many layers of deception and many people involved. Even the ending was not what I expected but … still a very good ending. I highly recommend this last book in this series.

Just...Wow! Vengeance in the Mist tells the story of Misty Lake, Summer's sister (we met Misty a bit in the last book, Courage in the Shadows, which was Summer's story). It has such a real, tangible sense about it that you really feel like the story is happening 'now', as you read it. The pace was good - not rushed but not dragged out, either. And prepare to get emotional! There are joys, sorrows, frustrations, misunderstandings; the main characters come together, then fall out, then, well, don't want to spoil anything here! But again, it's very much a real-life kind of story that will keep you on the edge of your seat reading until the early hours (as in, don't start the book after 8pm!). Plus, Robin is able to bring out some social issues in a way that weaves them into the story and makes us aware of the reality of what some people in this world are actually going through.

Intense thriller!

A violent past gives Misty Lake all the motivation she needs to pursue justice for other victims in her job as Assistant District Attorney. Now, she is being targeted again. Is it someone she put behind bars, or is it because of a current case?

Tate Steele has goals and dreams. He imagines a future as a DA and possibly a politician if he continues to impress his boss. When he is assigned to help Misty with her current case load his intention is to close them quickly and efficiently. A break-in at her apartment is only the first in a series of events that threaten his perfect image.

Evidence points to corruption but would it be enough to justify what has been happening? Enough to justify murder?

This is another well-written Robin Patchen crime thriller. I love her books! I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

She works in a law office and so does he
She is always looking for people to receive fair punishment. He is much more lenient - justice is more important. And so their boss asks him to work with her to hurry it along. And they become friends, . . . and more. And then her apartment is broken into. And her sister gets her bodyguards. And she is afraid to go out. — and so he goes to her home so they can work from there . . . . and life gets complicated, and interesting . . . this is a superb book. As always Robin Patchen writes great suspense and a great love story all in one! And let’s not forget God’s grace!!! received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.

Vengeance in the Mist is book 10 in the Coventry Saga series. The author, Robin Patchen, has written another fast-paced, on the edge of your seat inspirational romantic suspense that kept me up long past my bedtime reading.
I loved Tate but Misty made me want to slap her and say "Wake Up!" How can one intelligent woman be so stubborn and naive about the danger surrounding her? Misty had been kidnapped twice and yet, she had blinders on where her safety was concerned. So yes, she left me frustrated and I knew her cavalier attitude was going to put her in danger.
With that said, I still loved the book. It is well-written, and interesting. It was also romantic, suspenseful as well as inspirational. Kudos to the author for making me love Misty toward the end of the book!

good.

I enjoyed this book. It had a lot of twists I didn’t see coming! Evidence of a good mystery. What bothered me a little but maybe these stories were part of another book in the series was 2 kidnappings already! Seriously, what are the odds of even one in a lifetime. So finding a different form of trouble for the main character would have been nice.
Both main characters were very believable given their backgrounds. Their attitudes rang true but they also grew and changed with time. I appreciated that.
Misty’s remarkable recovery gave me pause but again was mostly believable. Would I recommend this book, of course. I only give 5 stars to books I think will become giants in the industry. So 4 stars is still very good.

Loved it! Misty Lake, sister of Summer Lake that we met in the previous story, was a delightful change from the Coventry crew. As a lawyer, who was lagging behind in work due to recovering from her second kidnapping, Misty is paired with another lawyer, Tate Steele, to lighten the load. Stumbling upon a mystery, as they battle differences in how they "work" their cases, throws the two into danger that warrants a blend of characters from Coventry. It was a well thought out plot that throws twists and turns that had me not 100% sure who was guilty of what. Loved how redemption and forgiveness is woven throughout. It was thought provoking for me to say the least.

If you are looking for a clean romantic suspense story, you can’t go wrong with Vengeance in the Mist by Robin Patchen. This book is a great addition to the Coventry Series but can easily be read as a stand alone. It took me a bit to get into the story but was soon hooked and anxious to see how everything was tied together. This is not a cliff hanger, and has no vulgar language or explicit sex. It is definitely a Christian suspense without being “preachy”.

I did receive an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed are entirely my own with no expectations regarding any review I might choose to provide.

Robin Patchen weave a web of fear, suspicion and betrayal. Misty is confronted with attacks from several sides. Can she trust Tate? How do you know who to trust? Who can protect you from evil and its plans to destroy you? Misty and Tate have quite a lot of rubble to wade through to find the truth! Who is the villian? What are they trying to accomplish or hide? I love how Misty has to overcome her own questions about God and even her struggles to know if she could actually trust Him with her problems and still more, her future?
Do I recommend this book? Most definitely YES!! Excellent writing with awesome insight to tap into the character's. feelings! Loved it!

“Intriguing, page-turning story”

I enjoyed the story of Summer’s sister, Misty. It touches deeply into the age-old questions of “Who to trust?”, “Who not to trust?”, and “Who is trustworthy?”. These questions are intricately woven into Misty’s story as fear has her popping back and forth between these questions while she is trying to figure out who is threatening her and targeting her.

As always, in this Coventry Saga series, it is good to see my “friends” from Coventry show up and be involved with helping in whatever way needed.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book from the author for my honest review.
