Chronicles the life of Katie and her husband Daniel who emigrate from Germany to the United States to build a life for themselves and their family, while struggling to keep the religious faith so important in Katie's upbringing.
When two or more of my kids are able to stay engaged with a book I read aloud to them by and by, as a chapter or two over their meal-times; well, let's just say that's no easy feat! Such a book is well deserving of a 5 star rating.
Of course, with a phrase like, "Keep the Faith and Milk the Cow," (which appears several times within this book's pages), how can fault be found and one not like it?
"Katie and the Lemon Tree": A book that showcases patience, perseverance, faith, longing, ingenuity, and love. My voice wavered with emotion of sadness in parts; however, this is a feel good story overall.
It's appropriate for all ages; but, perhaps, most beneficial for those 8 years of age on up.
