Not an easy book, not as organised as Jung. A fascinating survey nonetheless of alchemy. Some parts get bogged down with LSD trips and opening the subconscious and let's all tune out. The book strives for scientific relevance and seeks that in psychological rather than other links. Newton was an alchemist for example and the Star Regulus of alchemy privided an emblem for his theory of gravity. Etc. A highly useful reference book.

Psych 101 with a little alchemy. Meh.

The text of this book is rambling, overly-dense, and poorly organized. However, it is a fantastic collection of illustrations with at least some explanation of what they mean.

This is a large resource for emblems and a pick and plop reference book on alchemy. Emblems are black and white and ranging in size, it's like going to the library and reading old newspapers. Each explanation is small and at times some biological comparisons take place... like the uterus and the tree. It is not organized in the most scholarly way which is disappointing. It is psychologically focused about 50/50 Freud-Jung, even some Klein. The end is strange and prattles on about Leary which usually I appreciate. Goes to far, but in the end useful to own.
