Barbara Elsborg lives in Kent in the south of England. She always wanted to be a spy, but having confessed to everyone without them even resorting to torture, she decided it was not for her. Volcanology scorched her feet. A morbid fear of sharks put paid to marine biology. So instead, she spent several years successfully selling cyanide.
After dragging up two rotten, ungrateful children and frustrating her sexy, devoted, wonderful husband (who can now stop twisting her arm) she finally has time to conduct an affair with an electrifying plugged-in male, her laptop.
Her books feature quirky heroines and bad boys, and she hopes they are as much fun to read as they are to write.
I love this world! Barbara Elsborg has created such an interesting universe. Falling for You has wonderful characters, witty banter, and tons of romance. And the story is fast paced and very exciting.
For what it was - I really liked this. Easy, sexy & well done enough to hold my interest for a few hours. It's fluff though. Nothing more, nothing less.
I just really liked the characters. They made no apologies for who they were & what they liked.
You're reading erotic romance w/a paranormal bent here & It is what it is, but I have read way worse. This actually has heart & you can tell the author has fun writing her stories & characters.
I think Elsborg is pretty charming & one of the better writers in this genre Not that I have read too much that is so categorically "erotica" but a lot of the PNR stuff I read has sex in it. And frankly - a lot of it is repetitive despite the reviews otherwise... I find most (not all...but a lot) of authors gloss over, fade to black & shy away from writing an authentic sex scene at the end of the day.
So Elsborg definitely doesn't & IMO, writes some of the steamier & more original (or should I say exploratory) sex scenes that I have red so far.
I also think these 2 characters are my favorites. I just really like Alex & Jo. They're very sweet together (although the couple in the next series comes close).
This second book in the Trueblood series blows away the first. And though these books can be read separately, I'm glad I read them in order. Book 1 does a great job of supplementing the scene between Alek and his brother in this book. The struggle in the beginning, Alek pinned in the heart, trapped in a hole with Jo, created a delicious combination of frustration and tension. Add to that the introduction of shifters, this vampire series morphs into a thrilling and unpredictable adventure. I love that Jo was clueless about her biology. It allowed me to discover her heredity and her abilities right along with her. This dive into Jo's character funneled me into her life, locking me into that page-turning dream state I thrive for. And, ahhh, the quality and style of romance in this story is a skill Elsborg has impressive command of.
It's that time of month...that time where Jo goes crazy, sexually crazy. Going out for a long run out in the woods sounds like a great way to get away from any temptations that is until she falls down into a cave with an extremely hot man in it, a man with a knife sticking out of his chest.
Alek is dying and he doesn't even know by whom. The dagger sticking out of his chest is made of silver and that is bad for a vampire. If only he could get some blood. Out of nowhere, Jo falls into his life.
Alek and Jo were a fantastically fun couple, and their banter was so touching and humourous. The two of them were unbelievably hot and nearly melted my ereader. I'd give the plot a 3.5 * , but the amount of hot scenes in this were too amazing not to have been recognised.
Jo's really unique and I like her wittiness and attitude. And Alek is just WOW. I want my own Alek! And I like his name so much. He's the first hot vamp that I truly liked and loved.
Once more, you blew me away with your works, Barbara Elsborg. Wonderful job. :)
LOVED this book! It had great characters and a great story behind it. It was steamy and hot. But the ending killed me; you can't drop a bombshell like that and end the story! It's too late for me to start reading the next book! I have already stayed up wait to late to finish this one and I have to work tomorrrow. This is such a fantastic series!
I really enjoyed this. Word of warning: there's a LOT of sex in this one. But considering the storyline -- the female is hornier than the horniest person ever was for five days a month, and this story takes place over that period of time -- it fits.
I thought it was really sweet how Jo and Alek met. Alek has been attacked and is bleeding in one of his caves from the silver knife still sticking out of his chest. Jo is out running (what she does to try to combat the horniness) and falls into the hole and breaks her ankle. But she has an amazing ability to heal herself. She doesn't know why, but some innate ability allows her to heal her ankle. And then she tries to help Alek by pulling the knife out. He bleeds a lot and she thinks he's died, but he's really just in a "shutdown" mode -- his way of trying to conserve his energy. When he comes to again and Jo says she'll do anything to help him, he sort of "comes out" to her that he's a vampire and he needs blood. Initially she freaks a bit, but ultimately, she allows him to take some of her blood. Alek isn't worried about revealing himself -- he can just wipe her memory later, right? So they chat a lot, get to know each other, have lots of sex... for once, Jo has not chased a man away because of her raging libido.
But something goes wrong... Alek is not gone from Jo's memory. And neither can stop thinking about the other. And lots more happens. We learn who was trying to kill Alek and why. We learn why Jo is the way she is. And we have an HEA. And LOTS of sex in the meantime, lol. But like I said... it was her hormones, so it fit. I laughed several times during the story. Ms. Elsborg does such a great job of creating characters I care about and can laugh with. Both Alek and Jo were great, ribbing each other, but having this insatiable craving for each other. The very last thing that happened was priceless. I'd have loved to be a fly on that wall!
Love triangle? Cheating? HEA? Any Descriptive Sex w/OW/OM/Ex? Would I read more by this author/or in this series? Definetely worth checking out. Rating: +4 stars
Review
At the beginning I wasn't so sure that this book is for me, but after getting past the first chapter everything started to make sense.
I just loved how Alek couldn't get enough of Jo, so sweet and hawt. ;)
For anyone who loves a quick, sweet, funny, steamy, action packed read this one will not disappoint. :)
sex.sex.sex.sex.sex well its either the reader will roll her eyes or double blink on those first words of the story:)
I really love Ms. Barbara Elsborg's writing style, so full of humor then is just affect the love scenes, you can't stop smiling:)
I love Alek and Jo...never thought they would match vampire and werewolf hah they're such a pair, I love their wits and charms and banter...the sex scenes is so very detailed, and I mean there's a lot of it it overshadowed the story like what the heck am I'm reading again? even so there's a good plot...the werewolf fighting, family drama and yes sex again see:)
Well, I didn't finished the book when I read it before. But after a friend recommended it again, I continued reading again. Definitely love the story, but I skipped so many sex scenes and just move on to the main plot of the story...I wish there is more story on Max/Will pairing (because I'm kind of surprised that they end up being together after one night, and I thought Will is in love with Alek, so how did he end up with Max?) and on the parents of Jo. Gonna read the third book...hope it is as exciting as this one.
Got to say I liked this brother much better. I liked the addition of werewolves to the series and especially her becoming empowered within that. Was actually kind of rooting for Max part of the time. Good ending, excited for the next one but wish I could get some wrap or info on the first 2 because of the way the ended
Falling to danger, salvation, and over-heated paranormal bonding
Vampire/werewolf (and more) erotic romance
This was a good balance of interesting characters, relationship chemistry, pack politics, lots of repeated steam, and an ongoing (if a bit weak) paranormal backstory. It’s probably most appreciated by those who like taking fantasy/paranormal characteristics to add extra explicit (and over-the-top) sizzzle, pushing this more towards the erotic side of the genre. Even so, I appreciated the backstory of both the heroine (who did not know of her heritage) and the hero (the vampire who advances the trueblood developments in small but very significant section).
I am loving this Trueblood series.Love Barbara Elsborg's style of writing and this book does not dissappoint. This book is all about Axek and him finding his mate in the form of warewolf Jo Carter. There are lots hot panty melting sex scenes through out this book with some twists and plenty of action. It was fast paced which kept me wanting to see how this ended.I read this book in one go as couldn't put it down,i now can't wait to read the next book in this series.
3 1/2 stars. So funny. Really like these characters. Liked the mystery of Jo and what & who she is, and how it was played out. The sex started to overtake the story a little, but it was well written. Didn't like that it was a whole new set of characters for the 2nd book in this series, but like the surprise of who Alex is. Wish it tied in more with the first book, but the laughs are great.
Well Barbara has done it again with book 2 of her Trueblood Series. If you are looking for an exceptional vampire/werewolf series then Barbara's Trueblood is perfect with a wonderful plot and electrifying chemistry between Jo and Alek making a definite must read. BE is an auto buy for me!
ohhhh baby I really liked this book it had me guessing what she was but in the end I peged it because of the clothes issue but its really good annnnd I didn't want to murder the main male in this one ;)
This is one of those books... That when the last line is read you yell, NOOOO!!!! It left at a cliff hanger, of sorts, on two fronts. Regardless a great and fun read.
