OK so this book can be read as a stand alone or read in order as it is book #6 in the Men Of The First Brigade Series. Each book I have read in this series now 1-6 has had me either reaching for the tissues, screaming at the characters or loosing a lit of sleep. Each time I have read one I say "this one is now my favorite " , that is until I read the next one lol. However I loved the my best friends sister plot of this book as well as I am from NY and most of the book is set in Watertown, NY. In a way it made me connect more with the characters. I love how the Author gives the characters a (my words) crappy complicated pasts. Why? Well because real life is messy , some of us go through so much that when we find the right one we are afraid due to the past stuff. That's just how she writes it in these books. Maddy and Adam have baggage from their pasts and have to figure out how to deal with it before they can really be happy. I hope that those who read it find comfort in it and realize things can get better. Honestly I have 3 more books in this series that I can't wait to read but I am also dreading reading the last one because I have grown attached to the people in the books. For me that's a great sign that the Author knows what they are doing.

This book evoked a variety of reactions, from grinding my teeth in frustration (Madelyn and Adam are very stubborn and clueless), then tears over the pain and doubts each have to confront, and finally smiles because these two actually communicate well enough to reveal everything they are feeling to each other. It was hard to put down and will be equally hard to forget. This author always gives readers characters with depth, realism and traits which strike a chord. Adam and Madelyn do just that, as do all the secondary characters and characters readers have met in the previous books written by this author. The storyline touched my heart and made me want to know even more about these characters. I look forward to reading more books written by this author.

Madelyn has just gotten out of the Air Force and is trying to adjust to the civilian world. Adam is Madelyn’s older brothers best friend and the one guy she has been in love with forever. A dire decision forces these two to marry but more is at stake than just the two of them.

These is a beautiful story and I connected with Madelyn so much. I felt like we are both in the same place in our lives and I love her sassiness and strength. Adam is totally swoon worthy and my ovaries were screaming right there along side Madelyn’s. I loved the childhood crush to lovers moment going on and the bff little sister is one of my favs. I find it funny that everyone knows these two love each other other than the two people involved 🤣🤣🤣. This was such a great read and I can’t wait to start the next book!!!!

Adam and Madelyn have known each other for years. Both secretly pining for the other. As adults a decision brings them together as a married couple. There is more at stake than just them now. They swear to stay friends even though they secretly want more.

Once that line is crossed their relationship is beautiful but they both have insecurities that lead to time away from each other. Hurt feelings when there was no need for them.

They come back together to fight for what brought them together as a married couple and realize that their love for each other is real and true. It always has been and it’s time for them to make a real life together.

This is the 6th book in this incredible series, and this is Adam and Madelyn’s story. Adam had been side-lined by the special forces after an injury, and is content with his life as a RN on a life flight in his small home town, and Madelyn is his best friends little sister. This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, which is a slow burn, with romance, secrets, great secondary characters, friendships, insecurities, and love, which leads to a tragic, and heartfelt page turner.

This best friends little sister book is like no other! Madelyn is such a boss of a woman in every way that makes you want to be her when you grow up. Adam melted my heart from the very beginning and even more as I discovered more about him. These two don’t make it easy but in the end I feel like it all makes sense as to why it happens the way it did. Absolutely loved every second of this book

Adam & Madelyn - how will their story end?

Erin Fitzgerald has done a brilliant job with Adam & Madelyn's story. I don't want to spoil the story so all I will say is that I highly recommend giving their story a read. This is a fantastic series & worth 5 stars.

Adam and Madelyn’s story was sweet, steamy and frustrating! They were both so stubborn and stuck in their own heads. That was what made it believable though, because so many relationships fall apart because of poor communication.
They almost can’t get out of their own way, but working together for something bigger than themselves makes them finally stop fighting each other–and themselves.

I'm new to Erin FitzGerald and am really impressed with the emotional power this book had as I was swept away into Adam & Madelyn's story. Madelyn hits the right notes as a strong, courageous character and Adam just melted my heart. Definitely worth a weekend read!.

… and she did it again!! Another fantastic read from Erin FitzGerald. The story of Adam and Madelyn is thoroughly researched and so incredibly told that you feel as if you’re part of the story along with them. Both characters are so perfectly frustrating, I may have thrown my kindle 😬. I especially liked the references to the characters from the previous books. If you like slow burn romance this is definitely a must read. Part six of a series, each book can be read as a stand alone, however if you’re looking for an amazing author to binge, I highly recommend this series. Well done!

Erin Fitzgerald did it again with another fantastic story that will have you captivated from beginning to end! I found this book fascinating to read. The characters are interesting and likable. Looking forward to reading more. Highly recommend reading this and the rest of the series.
